Chapter 7

**Author's Notes: Here we are, getting extremely close to my very first Chapter 10. Now, I'm sorry to those who didn't want a NaruHarem, but I've decided to go down that route. Instead of it being classified as a NaruHarem though, I'm going to start classifying it as a NaruInoHarem. After all, Ino will be the first to join it.

The reason I was mainly asking was because I wasn't sure on which direction the story would head at the time, and as I was writing, more and more elements started falling into place, ultimately just leading to where I am now. Hopefully you all understand my predicament, and still enjoy the Fanfic. After all, I've been working hard to making sure that these go out every week.

Be prepared for next week, as it's not going to be the usual chapter. It's going to be the story's first Omake. (I think that's how it's spelled.) However, it's not going to be the traditional Omake I see whenever I read a Naruto Fanfic, as I plan to use the Omakes as a way to give characters that haven't had the spotlight for a long time to get a time to shine, show how they have been progressing, and things like that.

Now, Sasuke is going to be a bit rude at the beginning, but in this story he will mallow out as time progresses, so he wouldn't be an OOC from the getgo, instead gradually going out of his shell, having to work for his techniques in order for him to go further into the less 'emo' version of Sasuke.

One last thing, Naruto will have the Chakra Chains. He will also develop a new bloodline never seen before in the elemental nations (not saying what it is, or what it can do, you'll just have to read to find out.) Don't worry though, I'm trying my best not to make Naruto as OP as I can. He will have a TON of chakra, yes, but he doesn't start developing real jutsus until the mission to Wave.

Sorry I've typed so much as a note, just had to write that so that you know what to expect in the near future. With that out of the way, let's begin Chapter 7!**

Naruto was back in the greenery of his mindscape, wondering where Kurama was. As he was looking around, he notices Kurama laying down under a tree, taking a small nap.

"Hey Kurama. How are you liking the mindscape so far?" Naruto asked as Kurama's ears twitched by the sudden sound. His eyes slowly opened to show his red slitted eyes.

"I'm actually really impressed by it. No other Jinchuuriki would go through so much effort to make something like this. In any case, I still am exploring it." Kurama spoke back. "Tell me, why are you here again?" Naruto chuckled at the question.

"Is it wrong to have a conversation with a potential friend? Also, we got lucky. We don't have to deal with the screaming banshee." Kurama started laughing at the last sentence. He had to admit, his jailer had a good sense of humor. "In any case, we got a squad with Ino-chan and Shikamaru. I will say, he is way smarter than he lets on… I guess all Naras are." Kurama nodded his head.

"Yes, do not underestimate a Nara. They can think ahead 200 hundred moves when they would only need a couple, just because thinking the most effective is 'too troublesome.'" Naruto just laughed so hard he had to hold his gut, with Kurama chuckling as well. Kurama even made the expression that all Naras use when something is too troublesome for them.

"All right, all right, next thing I wanted to talk about. What do you know about Kakashi-sensei?" Kurama thought a bit before answering. "Well, from what I've seen when your mom was still my Jinchuuriki, Kakashi acted similar to that Uchiha brat until his teammate got killed during the 3rd Great Shinobi War. Now, if I remember correctly, he acts just like his old teammate, trying to keep his dream alive." Naruto thought about it before speaking again.

"Alright, thanks Kurama. I'll talk to you later. Have a good night."

"Hmph. You too, brat." Kurama spoke before laying back down and falling asleep. Naruto then left his mindscape and fell asleep.

5 Hours Later

Naruto slowly opened his eyes and turned his head to his nightstand, when he saw the time.

"It's only 6:00 AM. I still got another hour to go before I have to be at the training ground." Naruto thought to himself. He then got up and started his morning rituals, and then ate breakfast. After he did that, he walked out of his apartment and locked the door before dashing off to the training grounds.

Once Naruto arrived at the training grounds, he noticed that Ino and Shikamaru were already there. "Hey Ino-chan, Shikamaru!" Naruto called out. The two looked to see Naruto coming their way.

"Yo." "Hey, Naruto-kun." Shikamaru and Ino responded.

2 Hours Later

As they were all talking with each other, Kakashi showed up in a swirl of leaves.

"Hey Kakashi-sensei. So, what's this test about?" Naruto asked, not even caring that his sensei was late. Kakashi chuckled at Naruto's antics.

"All right, I guess I should explain this test to you all. This is what's called the bell test. Whoever gets the bells stays in the team, while those who don't goes back to the academy." Naruto and Shikamaru started thinking about why it was structured that way, when Ino started speaking.

"But why is there only two bells?" Naruto and Shikamaru both came to the same conclusion at the same time, due to those words.

"He's trying to get us to turn against each other." They both thought.

"I wonder if Naruto or Ino got the hidden meaning. Naruto definitely isn't what he was like in the academy. I wonder how much he has been hiding." Shikamaru thought while Naruto was thinking along the lines of: "Alright, so we know now that he is wanting us to show teamwork, even when we are pitted against each other. I can tell that Shikamaru got the hidden meaning, while Ino looks somewhat clueless. I'll have to let her know once the test starts. If we can do this correctly, that would mean that we would pass."

Kakashi was gauging the reactions of his students. It seemed to him that Ino was just lost, while Naruto and Shikamaru were able to figure it out on their own, which showed the intelligence of the two. "Alright, you have until noon. Start." With that, the 3 Genin take off into the forest. Naruto tracks down Ino first, because he already knew Shikamaru got the hidden meaning of the test.

"Hey, Ino-chan." Naruto whispered next to Ino, who almost jumped at the sudden sound.

"What is it, Naruto-kun?" Ino whispered back, albeit a bit louder and agitated towards Naruto.

"Listen, this is a test about teamwork. I'm positive Shikamaru came to the same conclusion. I mean, have you heard about 3-man cells? It's always been either 4 or 5-man cells, and the 5-man cells are rare for themselves. I have the feeling he's trying to see if we can still work together despite being pitted against each other." Ino got what Naruto was saying now. If they were to not work together, they wouldn't have much of a chance to go against Kakashi-sensei, but if they were to work together, despite being enemies, they could take the bells from Kakashi-sensei.

"Alright, let's go find Shikamaru. He probably has a plan already. We'll need one if we are going to try to take down a Jonin." Ino said, with Naruto nodding afterward. They then move around until they find Shikamaru, who just got out of his thinking pose.

"Hey, Shikamaru. You got a plan yet?" Naruto asked.

"Yeah, I got a couple in case one doesn't work. Here's the plans. First we will…"

Kakashi was sitting in the clearing for over an hour. "Where are they? They haven't even attempted to take the bells yet." Kakashi thought. This was different. Normal Genin squads would rush at the chance of getting the bells to pass. These Genin weren't normal though. They haven't tried anything to get the bells from him. All of a sudden, he catches movement from the corner of his eyes. He also notices a shadow extending towards him. He jumped out of the way, only to be caught by over 20 Narutos, with the real one being among them.

"Well now. Looks like you caught on." Kakashi said before he was replaced by a log. Ino was by said log before it teleported and fired her Mind Replacement Jutsu at it the moment it disappeared. Kakashi and Ino then slumped over before Kakashi got up again, reached for the bells, and threw them at Naruto and Shikamaru. She then cancelled the technique before returning to her body, causing Kakashi's body to go limp once again. They both then regained consciousness in their own bodies before Kakashi shot up and looked at the side of his body, to see that the bells were gone.

"Well, sensei? We worked as a team, so does that mean that we pass?" Naruto asked, a little smug about the fact that it didn't take too long to get Kakashi down. Kakashi chuckled.

"Yes, you three passed the test with flying colors. We begin our training tomorrow at 8 AM." After he said that, Kakashi vanished in the same swirl of leaves.

"Well, we passed! How about a quick bite to eat, my treat?" Naruto asked, Shikamaru and Ino quickly accepting. They then made their way to Ichiraku's Ramen.

"Hey, Old Man, 2 bowls of Miso Ramen, please!" Naruto yelled out, causing Teuchi to look back and see Naruto running up to the counter. With a smile, Teuchi greeted Team 7 and started preparing their orders. While he was preparing the food, Ayame walked out and saw Naruto talking to his team.

"Hey, Naruto-kun! How's it been?" Ayame asked, getting the attention of Team 7. Naruto looked at her with a bright smile.

"Hey, Ayame-nee-chan! This is Team 7, my new teammates!" Naruto said, introducing Ayame to Ino and Shikamaru.

"Anyone who's a friend of Naruto's is a friend of mine." Teuchi said with a smile while handing out the orders. They all started eating with idle chat going on every now and then. Once everyone was done, Naruto paid for the food and they all started heading home. Once everyone got home, everyone on the team went to bed except for Naruto. He decided to check on the shadow clones that were practicing the jutsus, chakra control and building exercises, and Fuinjutsu. He decided to dispel the ones building up his chakra reserves, but unfortunately, they don't give back any chakra. However, he can still remember how they built their chakra up.

While he was letting the clones that did the chakra controlling exercise dispel, Naruto was practicing his Fuinjutsu, who now is on a high beginner level thanks to the Shadow Clones. He decided to go to bed after a few practice seals.

The Next Day…

Naruto woke up to find it's still dark outside. He didn't have to be there until 7 in the morning, but when he looked at the clock, it said that it was only 4. He decided to get out of bed and start his day by getting breakfast, then starting his morning rituals. After that was done, he left his apartment, and went straight for the training grounds. When he got to the training grounds, and saw that he was still the first one there, he decided to do some chakra building exercises while his clones continued on chakra control techniques.

Ino was walking down the street to get to Training Ground 7 when she saw Naruto training with his shadow clones. "Hey, Naruto-kun!" Ino shouted towards Naruto, who then turned around and waved back at her. "Hey, Ino-chan! You ready for our first missions?" Naruto asked, which Ino nodded. "Yeah, I'm as ready as I can get! Although, I've never seen that type of training before. What were you trying?"

"Oh, that? I was using my shadow clones to build up my chakra control while I work on building up my chakra reserves. Seeing how I can't do chakra building exercises through Shadow Clones, I perform those while my clones do Chakra control, Fuinjutsu, and simple Ninjutsu practice." Ino thought about it for a bit.

"Do you think you could show me some chakra building exercises? I know I don't have nearly the required amount of chakra, and I need that for later on down the road, for more complicated jutsu." Naruto nodded at the request.

"Yeah, I can. Let's wait until after Shikamaru and Kakashi-Sensei gets here and we finish for what we need to do for the day, and then I will go through the training for it with you." Ino agreed, and the two then just sat and idly chat amongst the two of them while waiting on Kakashi-Sensei and Shikamaru. Finally, Shikamaru showed up, shortly before Kakashi showed up himself.

"Alright, my 3 little genin. We are going to do some training for the day!" Naruto perked up at this, and decided to ask a question. "Hey Kakashi-Sensei, can we work more on chakra building exercises? I know I have massive reserves as it is, but I'm also working on chakra control using shadow clones, and I want to teach both Ino-chan and Shikamaru the Shadow Clone jutsu, but they have no where near the amount of chakra for it." Kakashi seemed to think about it for a few seconds before answering.

"That actually would work very well for our training. Alright, we'll do that. Alright, let's start on some basic chakra building exercises until we get exhausted, break for lunch, do 1 or 2 D-ranks, and then do some chakra control exercises for another 2 hours. After that, you are all dismissed for the day. Once we build your chakra up enough, then we will teach you the shadow clone jutsu, and shift the schedule. Of course, that's a while from now. Now, let's get started on the first Chakra building exercise." After that, they started working on their chakra building.

"Hey, Naruto. Can you come here a second?" Kakashi asked, which Naruto complied. "You're not in trouble, I just want to know if you are able to tell me what I want to know. How do you know what you're doing already?" Naruto grinned at the question. "Easy, Hokage-jiji gave me a scroll on this stuff a few days before graduation. I had abysmal chakra control, and that was what caused my failure in the normal clone jutsu. He knew that I wouldn't be able to fix my chakra control in time, and as such I learned the Shadow Clone jutsu. He also gave me an beginner's, intermediate's, expert's, and master's guide to Fuinjutsu, although I'm only getting close to finishing off the beginner's guide." Kakashi's visible eye widened slightly at the information.

"Alright, Naruto. Thanks for letting me know what I wanted to know. I just want to let you know one more thing: I will be looking out for you. You are my student, and I want you to trust me, just like I will trust you." Naruto nodded.

"Alright, although it may take a bit to form that, I'll try my best." Kakashi nodded. 'Man, Naruto's had it rough if he has a hard time trusting adults that he just met.' He then thought.

4 Hours Later…

Everyone was exhausted. Kakashi decided to also join in, seeing how he needed to work up his chakra reserves as well. After all, you can't train your students without training yourself first, and its been years since he has trained. After they finished their lunch, Team 7 went to the Hokage's Office, where they get assigned their missions. Once they get to the door, Kakashi knocks, who then receives a "Come in" from the elderly man. They walked in to see the Hokage smiling at them.

"Ah, Team 7! How good to see you, Naruto-kun." he said, to which Naruto grinned as well.

"Hi, Hokage-jiji! Good to see you too!" Naruto replied, to which Ino and Shikamaru went pale and were gaping at Naruto. Kakashi just shook his head.

"Naruto, you're talking to the strongest person in the village, and you just put an insult on him. That could just get you arrested." Shikamaru said.

"Nah, I've known Hokage-jiji since I was 5, and he doesn't mind me calling him that, right?" Said Hokage lets out a hearty laugh.

"That would be correct." Ino and Shikamaru were gaping like a fish at this point. They had no clue Naruto was close to the Sandaime Hokage. "In any case, I'm guessing you are here for a mission?" Kakashi nodded.

"That would be correct. What missions do we get, Hokage-sama?" Kakashi asked.

"Ah, let's see here. There's walking the Inuzuka's dogs, catching the cat Tora, painting a fence, cleaning out litter from a pond, herding animals into a new fence…" The Hokage didn't get to finish when Kakashi interrupted him.

"All due respect, Hokage-sama, we will take the Tora mission." Said Hokage laughs at that.

"Good luck, Team 7. Capture Tora is now your mission." The team leaves the room, which Iruka starts talking.

"How long do you think it would be until Naruto says that he's ready for a C rank?"

"Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if its at least a week from now. He never was that patient." Iruka laughs at that.

"Yeah, that's true."

With Team 7

"Point A, Naruto Uzumaki, Ready. Dattebayo!"

"Point B, Ino Yamanaka, Ready."

"Troublesome, Point C, Shikamaru Nara, Ready."

"Alright, Do you see the target?"

"Affirmative, Target is within 5 Meters."

"Alright, then move on my count.

NOW!"

Naruto, Ino, and Shikamaru all dashed in to capture Tora, in which Naruto succeeded. However, Tora didn't like to be held, and as such, Naruto got his entire face all scratched from the demon house-cat. They then returned to the Hokage office before heading over to the training grounds and starting on the chakra control exercises. Naruto, of course, created the infamous Shadow Clones, while Ino and Shikamaru looked over what they would be able to do once they got that jutsu down. Then Naruto created even more clones to start work on getting farther into Fuinjutsu, and the real Naruto decided to take a nap while his clones did their thing. Everyone sweatdropped at the scene of 200 Narutos working while a single Naruto was sleeping.

Once the time was up, they all decided to head over to Ichiraku's ramen to celebrate their first training session together. Naruto then decided to sense how much chakra they each could hold, and was astounded at the amount of capacity that went up. "Hey, you guys. I just sensed how much chakra you all have, and although it isn't enough for a single shadow clone without passing out, you are getting close to that point. You both just had really low chakra levels, but now that you have all that chakra reserves, along with the chakra control do go along with it, you should be able to use your clan jutsu for way longer now." Shikamaru thought for a few seconds, before thinking of a question.

"Hey Naruto, do you think you have any family jutsus? Like my Shadow Possession or Ino's Mind Possession jutsus?" Naruto thought about the question before he responded. "Yes, actually. I don't know what they are called, but I do know that the Uzumakis have hidden jutsus, including but not limited to seals. I don't even know if they have a Kekkei Genkai." Ino's eyes widened. If she remembered correctly, the Uzumakis actually had a Kekkei Genkai. It was called 'Chakra Chains', and it was powerful enough to siphon off power from Kurama himself.

The only real way to find out if Naruto had Chakra Chains would be to try and unlock the Kekkei Genkai itself. However, there isn't any scrolls here stating how to unlock them, so they would have to figure it out on their own.

"Alright, Naruto-kun, Shikamaru, I'm heading on home. I have to get ready for more training tomorrow." Ino said before walking off on her own. Shikamaru left shortly after. After Naruto payed for his portion, he also walked over to his apartment. Before he went to bed himself, though, he decided to pay Kurama a visit.

Inside Naruto's Mindscape

Naruto was walking through the grassy plains of his mindscape looking for Kurama, when he felt the ground shake. He looked up to see Kurama standing there, looking down on him.

"What do you want, brat?" Kurama asked, not in a malicious way, but just curious.

"Well, I was wondering if you could tell me if the Uzumakis had a Kekkei Genkai." Kurama started chuckling, vibrating the entire ground.

"Sure, brat. Actually, there were a few different Kekkei Genkais in the Uzumaki clan. The first, and most well known, was the Chakra Chains. These siphon chakra and strength from an enemy, while supplying the user with the siphoned chakra. Then there was the healing ability, but not in the way you have it. A user would bite the Uzumaki, and would actually get healed by doing so. I can say for certain that you do not have this one. Now, the sensory ability was actually grouped seperately. There were the sensors that could detect malicious intent, those who could sense chakra, and then those who could sense other's emotions."

"Hmm, maybe I can try to go to Uzushiogakure sometime, maybe then I can find out more about the bloodlines." Naruto thought aloud. Kurama nodded.

"That would be a smart move. However, there is still something you may want to check with first. See if the old man has any papers over your parents. After all, he knows that you aren't going to tell anyone you don't trust with the secret. There should be no reason to hide things like that from you anymore." Kurama said, while Naruto nodded. "Alright brat, go ahead and leave me alone. I want to take a nap." Unfortunately, Kurama missed the devious smirk that appeared on Naruto's face. Right as soon as he started falling asleep, Naruto sneaked next to Kurama, with his smirk growing into a fox-like grin.

"THANKS KURAMA!" Naruto shouted in Kurama's ear, to which Kurama roared at the sudden noise. Naruto immediately jumped off, dashed away from Kurama while he was chasing Naruto. All the while Naruto was laughing at Kurama's reaction to the prank. Kurama eventually muttered something about loudmouth pranking brats and went back to sleep, with Naruto laughing even harder while leaving the Mindscape.

** Author's Notes: All right, Chapter 7 wrapped up nicely! Let me know what you think about the story so far. After all, this is my first story, and I didn't want to make the Dojutsu something that Naruto himself wouldn't do to work towards. Also, I wanted to make it so that it would be CRA passable (I didn't want to just focus on Chakra Chains, I'm stubborn :P ) so I wanted to add the Dojutsu in for safe measures. There are going to be drawbacks, and I've already mentioned a couple. It acts similarly to the Sharingan, but it doesn't require killing someone close to you in order to level it up to the highest degree. The only thing it really requires is the experience of life or death while having the dojutsu active. Hope you all enjoyed, and I'll see you next week!**
