Chapter Thirty-One
Tricks & Treats
WEEK 22 - PART TWO
HALLOWEEN NIGHT
1730 LOCAL
PARK HYATT SYDNEY
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
Even though the party was taking place on Halloween night, it wasn't Halloween-themed, or even a laid-back event, for that matter. It was a stuffy, black tie affair hosted by the partners of Mic's law firm. Gillian had gone with Mic as his plus one. She was not having a good time, to say the least.
"When were you going to tell me?" Gillian hissed as her and Mic walked up a flight of carpeted stairs towards the elevators.
"I was going to get to it, eventually," Mic replied hastily.
Gillian rolled her eyes. "Sure you were. You know, I honestly can't believe this-"
"Gillian, it's not that big of a deal-"
"Michael, you got someone pregnant! That's a pretty big fucking deal if you ask me!"

"Are your eyes still closed?"
"Uh-huh."
"Are you ready?"
"Absolutely."
Harm heard some rustling as Mac exited the bathroom. "Alright," she said. "You can open in three, two, one."
He opened his eyes. His eyes traveled up Mac's long, tan legs to the short, light green dress she was wearing along with a pair of...wings?
"A fairy?" Harm had difficulty masking his confusion. "You're a fairy? You're-"
"Tinkerbell," Mac finished, reaching over her shoulder to straighten a wing that had gone a little crooked. "It's the only costume I could find that didn't make me look like a blimp. Were you expecting me to squeeze myself into a catsuit at six months pregnant?"
"No, I wasn't. I'm not disappointed, by the way. I think you look fantastic."
Mac beamed. "Thank you. You know what they say. Faith, trust…"
"Pixie dust?" Harm supplied. Mac nodded.
"Yeah. That."
Harm smirked as Mac walked towards him. She perched herself on his lap, legs on either side of his waist. They were on the edge of Mac's bed, which they had every intention of using for that night's activities.
"You didn't have to do all of this, you know," Harm said as he ran a hand up Mac's thigh. "The brochure didn't say anything about costumes."
"I just wanted to be theatrical," Mac replied with a shrug. "It is Halloween."
"I'm feeling awfully underdressed."
Mac laughed. "Don't feel too left out. We're both going to be underdressed a little bit."
"I can't wait," Harm said as he reclined back onto the mattress, pulling Mac down on top of him. They kissed, Harm reaching up Mac's skirt to cup her six.
"Do I have to be on top this time?" she asked, a slight pout on her lips.
"We can do whatever you want."
"Does that mean we can watch scary movies after this?"
"Um, no. You know I don't like scary movies."
THIRTY MINUTES LATER
Keeter walked down the hall to the door he hoped had Mac's apartment behind it. The few times he'd visited Harm in D.C, it had always been at his loft, so he'd never been to Mac's apartment before. The idea for him and Harm to get together that night and watch some horror movies had been something spur-of-the-moment Harm had begrudgingly agreed to. Harm's dislike of horror was something Keeter had teased him about ever since they met.
He reached the door with the correct room number and knocked.
Harm paused when he heard a knock at the door. Mac frowned, opening her eyes. "Wait, wait, why'd you stop?" she asked.
"Did you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
"That knock."
Mac furrowed her brow. "No."
"I thought you said there weren't any kids in your building," Harm sat up, making Mac want to scream in protest. They had just started having sex again and now what? Harm decided he wanted to hear things?
"There aren't," she answered in a huff.
"Well then why are there trick or treaters-" Harm froze. "Shit."
"What?"
Harm quickly climbed out of the bed, reaching for his boxers. "Keeter," he said. "I forgot about Keeter."
Mac sat up. "Keeter? You made plans with Keeter? Tonight?"
"Mac, I was gonna tell you but I forgot-"
"This costume was fifty dollars!" Mac picked up the balled up costume from where it had landed on the bed earlier. "I didn't plan on wearing it for company."
Keeter thought about knocking a third time, but he didn't want to come off as impatient. Luckily for him, Harm finally answered.
In a pair of boxer shorts.
"Umm," Keeter looked him up and down. "Is that your costume?"
Harm smirked. "Very funny."
"Seriously though, why are you in your underwear?"
"Hi Keeter!"
Suddenly, Mac appeared next to Harm, dressed in a Tinker bell costume. It took one quick glance between the two of them for Keeter to realize what was going on. His eyes widened.
"Oh-oh. Am I interrupting?"
Harm and Mac shared a quick glance before Mac answered, "No, not at all," she said. "Harm told me you and him were gonna watch a couple of movies."
"This isn't as strange as it looks, Jack," Harm added. "I swear."
Keeter didn't believe him. Slowly, he handed Harm two VHS tapes. "I'll leave you two to do...whatever it is you two were doing or were about to do...I'm not really sure...Is this a kink or…?"
"No," Mac answered casually. "I just wanted to be a little festive. Are you sure you don't want to come in? We have left over lasagna."
"I think I'll raincheck. Thank you, though."
"Really, because we could-"
"Let him go, Mac," Harm finally said. "It's okay. Just-let him go."
Keeter clapped Harm on the shoulder. "I'm glad you got everything sorted out," he turned to look at Mac. "Your wings are upside down, by the way."
Mac's hand instantly flew to her back, and as Keeter walked off she turned to glare at Harm.
"What?"
"Why didn't you tell me the wings were upside down?"
"I kind of had bigger things to worry about, Mac."
Mac took the two VHS tapes out of Harm's hand and turned them over, looking at the titles on the cases. Her eyes lit up when she saw a particular title. She grabbed Harm by the wrist and led him back inside.
"Are we picking up where we left off?" Harm asked, his embarrassment of getting semi-caught in the act by Keeter soon being replaced by his eagerness to get back into the act.
"Nope," Mac said, holding up one of the VHS's with a grin. "We're watching this."
Harm instantly groaned. "Come on Mac, I hate horror movies."
"It's Halloween."
"It puts the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again."
"Christ Mac, how do you watch this stuff?"
Harm looked away from the TV, using one of Mac's wings (which were now right-side up) to obstruct his view of the screen. Mac was having the complete opposite reaction; she was enthralled.
"It's a good movie. It's one of the greatest movies ever made."
"The movie about that blonde lawyer was better."
"Her name is Elle Woods."
"Whatever."
They were snuggled together on the sofa, watching what Harm now knew was Mac's favorite movie. It would've been romantic if her favorite movie wasn't The Silence of the Lambs.
