Remnant Goes to the Movies
Disclaimer; I do not own RWBY or the movies to play within. Wish I did, though.
Deep within a realm not of Remnant, a lonely being sighs.
'So many movies, so little time and no one to share them with…' Thought trailing off until a manic gleam appears in the being's eyes. 'Oh yes… they will do quite satisfactorily.'
(Beacon Academy)
Two weeks until the start of the Vytal Tournament, the students of Beacon Academy and the visiting teams from the other Kingdoms of Atlas, Mistral and Vacuo are getting excited and eager for what's to come. Even those in the kingdoms are eagerly anticipating watching the tournament. Only…
"Uuuggghhh… my head." Blearily blinking, a young girl with silver eyes blinks even more before going on. "Last thing I remember… I was working on Crescent Rose and…" Absently reaching to where she last had it, her eyes bolt wide open upon it not being within reach. "WHERE IS SHE?!"
"Ruby… why're you yelling?" Her silver eyes blinking, she turns to where the voice came from before bolting over and hugging the voice's owner. "Ruby! Get off of me!"
"Weiss, we're not in Beacon anymore!"
"Of course we are in Beacon, Ruby. What gave you such a preposterous notion?"
"I was working on Crescent Rose before I fell asleep and now she's not here!" Weiss, slightly rolling her eyes, tries to stay calm in order to calm her down. But with her team leader, partner and friend being as agitated as she is, she's hard-pressed to stay so. Before she decides to speak again, she looks around. Only to gulp herself.
"Ruby… this doesn't look like our dorm."
"Indeed it isn't." At the distorted voice, Ruby and Weiss both turn to where the voice came from. Before them is a form wearing a black racing suit, black boots and a black helmet with a black visor on it. "You two, and the others asleep in here, are in my realm. Thinking of…" For some reason, Ruby and Weiss hear a smirk within the voice.
"WAKE UP CALL!"
A series of recorded explosions startles everyone else awake. Ruby and Weiss both look around as they see their other team members, their sibling team, the other teams of Beacon, the teams from Atlas, Mistral and Vacuo. Along with Headmaster Ozpin, Professors Goodwitch and Port, Doctor Oobleck, General Ironwood, a pair of women that look like Weiss, a distinguished looking gentleman and a young man right beside him… the latter two of which gets Weiss to grimace on the inside. To the both of them, it looks like the entirety of Remnant is present. Before Weiss can even go on, the figure speaks.
"Ah… good. Everyone's awake and ready." The gentleman, however, scowls.
"What is the meaning of this?! I, Jacques Schnee, demand to know at once!"
"You demand? You demand, do you? Okay. Since you really want to know… I brought you, and many others, to my realm to watch some movies."
"Movies… I don't have time to watch movies when there's dust to mine and lien to make."
"Is lien really all that important to you? More so than people's livelihoods or their lives? Or the Schnee family name which you are horridly tarnishing by your callous deeds?"
"What are you talking about… whoever you are? Tarnishing by my callous deeds? The Schnee family is even more prosperous."
"Prosperous pariahs, maybe."
"Pariahs?! How dare you?!"
"I actually dare to quite easily, Jacques-ass." Jacques' eyes go wide before they narrow as he hears guffaws from some of those around him. Mainly from the Faunus within the realm. "Matter of fact, Miss Amitola?" A spotlight appears, right above a young woman with traits of a chameleon. Which gets one of Ruby and Weiss' teammates to blink as the figure goes on. "Miss Ilia Amitola, would you fairly say that Mr. Schnee has caused the family to become pariahs?"
"I… I don't know if I'd say pariahs… but his cold demeanor doesn't help him any at all. But… my parents died in a mine collapse while working for his company…" As the young woman trembles, the figure sighs.
"Close enough in my book, Miss Amitola." Jacques scoffs uncaringly at that.
"Why're you treating an animal like a person?"
"Faunus are people too, Jacques-ass. They just have something extra. Having animal traits don't make them any less human. You'd do well to remember that."
"And if I was to contest that?"
"Trust me… you don't want to do that as it will end quite poorly for you and those that think like you do." The tension is so thick, Ruby shyly speaks up.
"Umm… what kind of movies are we going to be watching?"
"Ah. Finally. A reasonable question. They're movies that star a very good friend of yours, young Miss Rose. Jaune Arc." At another spotlight appearing overhead, a blond young man gulps and shakily raises his hand before pointing at himself.
"Me?"
"Yes, you. Jaune, so far, you're in the running for 'Most Improved Student'. You came to Beacon with no training, under false transcripts, all to better yourself. Far as I'm concerned, you did a wrong thing for a right reason. Any that wishes to condemn him… stick it. For he has come a very long way from where he'd started and has potential to go the distance. So, Jaune, keep up the good work." At the wanton praise, Jaune nods.
"I… I will."
"Any other questions before we start?"
"Just a couple, really." Professor Goodwitch's voice gets the being's attention before she asks, "Just what do we call you?"
"Just call me 'Racer', ma'am."
"Very well, 'Racer'. The other is what rules regarding personal conduct do you have?"
"Just one, really. This is a neutral ground. Meaning any personal issues you have or develop during this time are to be settled elsewhere. Any that violate the rule… gets kicked out and barred from returning." Jacques smirks widely at that.
"In that case, then, I'll take you up on that as I have business to attend to."
"There's a slight, tiny problem with that. See, Remnant is currently frozen in time. If you do go back, you won't be able to do a thing until the movies are all done. And… quite frankly… being frozen in time isn't really all that productive at all." Even though it's unseen, everyone can tell 'Racer' has a devious smirk before he goes on. "So sit your butt down, relax and enjoy the movies to come." Weiss can't help but be awed at Jacques being cowed before 'Racer' goes on. "Oh… Miss Cinder Fall?" As another spotlight appears overhead, a young brunette woman smiles widely, hoping to make a much better first impression than Jacques did.
"Yes, Racer?"
"I've some people that you may well know. As a matter of fact…" An uncountable number of balls of bluish-white light appear before going to various people and dissipating as 'Racer' speaks again. "They've been fully briefed and, while three of them don't quite freely agree, the fourth one is quite eager to spend time with you, Miss Fall. Miss Amitola, I'm sure you recognize two of them. Miss Rose, Miss and Mr. Xiao Long and Mr. and Ms. Branwen, I'm sure you recognize yours."
Ilia's eyes go wide before her parents go to her side and take her into their arms. Her returning serve as tears fall from her eyes. Summer Rose gently embraces Ruby and Yang before Taiyang, Qrow and a 'very reluctant' Raven. Tukson nods to Blake Belladonna, his best customer at his old store from before his killing.
"Mom… Dad… I missed you so much…"
"We missed you too, sweetie." Ilia wipes her eyes clear before asking 'Racer' the biggest question ever. The same question on all their minds.
"How long can they stay?"
"Sadly, they can only stay so long as they and their loved ones are within the realm watching movies. Should their surviving loved one leave, they shall leave as well. So make the best use of your times together."
"We will, 'Racer'. Thank you."
At the same time, Cinder's eyes go wide as the dark-skinned gentleman steps to in front of her and grins gently before ruffling her head.
"You certainly grew, Cinder."
"Rhodes?" Her amber eyes shedding tears, Cinder asks, "How… How is it… that you're… not mad at me?"
"You were in a frenzy when you killed me." Before she can speak again, Rhodes puts his finger to her lips and goes on. "Let's not spend time talking about how things went sideways for us and just enjoy watching the movies. Okay?" Tears dripping from her eyes still, Cinder nods.
"I'd… I'd like that." One of the three arrivals, however, glares at Cinder before stepping toward her. Getting their attention.
"Just because there is a rule about… no issues in a neutral area, know this. You are still my property. You may have gotten rid of that shock necklace after you killed my daughters and I, but I still own you." Cinder's eyes glow briefly before she smirks.
"Maybe, but out there, you and your daughters are as dead as the day I freed myself from your abuse." Scoffing, she adds, "I regret killing the one person that showed me any real compassion, that actually taught me. In all ways, I wish he'd been the one to adopt me. Even if he was nowhere near Mistral when you decided to have a worker you didn't have to pay. Which is really, really unethical."
"You're not really one to speak of ethics yourself." At the crackly female voice, Cinder looks and her eyes go wide. "Remember me?"
"The… The 'Fall Maiden'… how? 'Racer', did you do this?"
"Yup. Even more, for a time, your semblances are going to be inactive. Even the 'Maiden Powers'. Starting… now." With a snap of the fingers, everyone with semblances feel somewhat less powerful. "Now that you're all on equal footing, shall we get started?"
"Oh… a day at the movies with friends and family! This is so exciting, Weiss!" Ruby's words get Weiss to smile wryly before nodding.
"There're worse ways to pass time, I suppose. But… Jaune being featured in them… I certainly didn't see that coming."
"You, Weiss, aren't the only one." Jaune's shy comment gets Weiss to smile softly and sadly at him. Softly because she can sympathize with his situation. Sadly because she treated him horribly until after the dance when she learned the truth about him. Jacques, however, scoffs.
"So why him? He's not of a noble family. Certainly not as noble as the Schnee family is. He doesn't even meet my high standards." At that, 'Racer' snort/scoffs.
"He's more noble than you'll ever be, Jacques-ass. Being noble isn't about riches or titles. It's about protecting those that can't protect themselves. So keep that in mind, Mr. Jacques Gele." Jacques is so aghast at the use of his original family name, he doesn't hear General Ironwood softly snickering.
"How… How'd you know?! I had the records suppressed! I paid a lot of lien for that to happen!"
"I have my ways. That's all you'll ever need to know. As for high standards, you can take your high standards and stick them up your butt."
Jacques sputters as more laughter erupts. Even Adam Taurus is laughing, thoroughly enjoying himself in watching Jacques being told off. His upper face covered by a Grimm mask. With 'Racer' noticing it.
"Mr. Taurus… how'd you like to be free from that horrid branding on your face and your left eye functional again while you're here?" Adam can't nod fast enough before a blueish-white light appears behind his mask. "You can take it off now. But, like I said, it's just for while you're here."
"I understand, 'Racer'. Thank you. I'll enjoy what time I can." Eagerly, Adam removes his mask before looking to Blake. "How do I look, Blake?"
"You're free of the marking that you concealed alright." Kinking her head to the right, she asks, "You really have no issues with the rule of personal issues not being allowed while here?"
"None whatsoever. And… I gotta admit… it's really tiresome. It's gonna feel good to relax for a change. No plotting, no advancing Faunus rights or supremacy…" Blake can only chuckle before Adam curiously asks, "What's it like? Being friends with a Schnee?"
"It really depends on which Schnee it is. Weiss is a great friend." Weiss can only blush at that.
"That's good." After Adam's words, next thing Jacques knows, 'Racer' is stepping toward him. Even though it can't be seen, there's a look of sheer disgust behind the visor.
"It's everything in me to not disregard my one rule and punch you stupid before giving you the boot, given the reactions of most of the people in here. You're not that well-liked at all."
"Of course I am."
"More like they're talking about you behind your back as they're afraid of you. But they don't have to be. I know I'm not afraid to speak my mind about you. So I can do exactly that. Or perhaps ramming sharp objects up into your butt. So be intelligent, shut up and watch the movies." With that, 'Racer' recedes away from Jacques. Beside Jacques, the young man nervously gulps before speaking.
"Umm… 'Racer', a quick question." An aghast Jacques turns toward him.
"Whitley!" As 'Racer' looks back toward Jacques at his hissed shout, Jacques lightly shakes before 'Racer' nods to Whitley.
"Go ahead, young Whitley."
"What's the name of the first movie?"
"It's called 'Runaway'. It's about robots in everyday society, a unit within the Police that deals with robots that sometimes malfunction and a deranged scientist." Cinder can't help but smirk widely.
"I bet that it's Watts being the deranged scientist."
"What was that, Cinder?!"
"You gotta admit, Arthur, you do pull off deranged quite well." Ironwood's words get Watts to gape in disbelief as 'Racer' chuckles before going on.
"That said, let's watch some movies!"
