Author Note

I've decided to have a vote on if the MC should compete in the Triwizard Tournament or not. If he enters he'll win given all of his abilities and knowledge. Just send me a yes or no in the reviews, I will only count votes from non-guests accounts.

Also, I wouldn't mind some ideas for tasks. They need to involve an element such as air, earth, fire and water, and be watchable to the crowds than the tasks in the book/movie.

I might make use of some sort of magical camera that floats around and the tasks should not be too complex.

If Hermione misuses the knowledge that the MC shares with her then it isn't his fault. People are responsible for their own actions.

Crossworlds 1 - Harry Potter

Part 41

Number 12 Grimmauld Place. London.

Albus Dumbledore the current Headmaster of Hogwarts, and owner of a few other titles, looked around the room as the members of the Order of the Phoneix took their seats around the large kitchen table. There was no real eagerness for this meeting to start despite the fact that this organisation's work was rather important and the old wizard couldn't blame any of them for their lack of enthusiasm given how little in the way of progress they ever had.

For months now the group had been working on trying to find more information on Tom Hiddleston, the wizard that Albus Dumbledore had over time become convinced was working to undermine the Headmaster and the whole of Magical Britain as well.

Not that there was much evidence to support this idea. In fact, Hiddleston had taken actions that led to good things happening, such as the arrest of both Barty Crouch Senior and Junior, but there were actions that made the country unsettled, such as that blasted book being published, even after all this time Dumbledore hadn't been able to undo all the damage done.

So far, the Order of the Phoneix had failed to find any concrete proof of wrongdoing by Tom Hiddleston, mostly because it was hard to discover anything that the man got up to and they knew very little about his past. He had been spotted at the Ministry a few times by Arthur Weasly and Kingsley Shacklebolt, and he was known to be talking to the Minister of Magic, but other than this they could only speculate as to what Tom Hiddleston got up to.

"I swear it's as if the man just vanishes into thin air," said an annoyed sounding Alastor Moody once the meeting had properly begun "He's never at his home in Godric's Hollow, he's rarely at the Ministry, he never seems to visit Diagon Alley, he must have a hideout somewhere unless he's somehow getting of the country, but if he is he's not using approved portkeys".

Dumbledore wondered how it was that a wizard could seem to cease to exist most of the time. Tom Hiddleston might as well be vanishing into thin air. His young cousin was at least easy to keep tabs on.

"Any idea what he's been chatting with the Minister about?" asked one of the Order.

Dumbledore did have some information this time.

"As we knew, Fudge had taken Hiddleston as an advisor, and currently the Minister is seeking extra funding for the world cup as well as the upcoming Triwizard Tournament" answered the Headmaster "He's totally taken over Lucius Malfoy's place".

The idea that a dark wizard, more so one that they knew so little about, had such influence over the Minister was very worrying. At least Malfoy had been predictable and easy to keep an eye on.

"We still can't prove that Hiddleston even is a dark wizard," said Sirius Black, who had brought this up before "I went over to his home, and there's no evidence of anything criminal or dark going on".

It had been risky to let Potter and Black got to the Hiddleston House, but it would have been worth it had Sirius found anything. At least Harry Potter had come to no harm and the boy might discover something of importance when he interacted with the younger Hiddleston in the future.

"I just can't see a dark wizard letting a bunch of muggle-borns come over to his home for any reason" the dog animagus was now saying "Nevermind actually supporting them in a movement to get them more rights".

Tom Hiddleston did seem to be putting out mixed messages. He was from an old wizarding family and had great wealth yet he didn't host parties or own a needlessly large home. Despite being an advisor to Fudge he barely got involved with politics either, but when he did Hiddleston like to shake things up. He was a disruptive element.

"Evil can cloak itself in the appearance of goodness," said Dumbledore "He is most likely only pretending to care for the wellbeing of Muggleborns".

Little did the Headmaster know amusing a certain eavesdropper would find that statement.

"Many of the Death Eaters who escape just imprisonment in Azkaban made generous donations to what looked to be worthy causes," reminded Albus.

Not all of the Order were convinced by those words, the Chief Warlock simply couldn't convince them all of the truth.

"Mundungus is still missing" Moody reminded everyone.

This wasn't the first the crook had disappeared. More than once he'd had to go underground for a while, sometimes literally, because he'd annoyed the wrong person, or he was at risk of getting swept up in some DMLE operation. There were limits to what even Dumbledore could do to keep the man out of trouble.

"There's been no sign of Mundungus," informed Dumbledore "Or of the Death Eaters who have gone into hiding. My contacts in the Ministries in Europe are keeping an eye out for us, but so far none of them has provided any solid leads. I'm concerned that Hiddleston is rallying forces overseas, even if, so far, there is no proof of this".

Tom Hiddleston certainly had the wealth to pay for the services of dark wizards as well as dark creatures, there just wasn't any evidence of this. Dumbledore had even wondered if Hiddleston might be working for Voldemort, only again there was nothing more to this than mere speculation.

No one other than Dumbledore cared that Snape was dead and no one really cared that a few Death Eaters had been killed. Those deaths combined with Hiddleston showing support for the Muggleborns, made the Headmaster wonder if Hiddleston planned to overthrow the Ministry with the support of those who felt that society was unfair to them, instead of supporting the agenda of pureblood supremacists as Voldemort had done not so long ago.

Since they had no proof of anything going on this made it impossible to plan to counter Hiddleston's moves.

"Remus any luck getting in contact with the werewolf packs?" asked the Headmaster "Or any news of Greyback?".

Lupin sat up before speaking.

"Greyback and his pack are still missing" he reported, "No one has heard anything from them since the summer. If they are in hiding then they are doing a very good job of it and as far as I know no one has approached the other packs".

Again this was worrying as werewolves were treated badly by mainstream wizarding society and might rally to someone who looked as if he might be able to advance their cause.

"Very well," said Dumbledore "Since we have no new leads I see no point in carrying on with these meetings, at least for a time, I would like anyone who does acquire any information to contact me as soon as possible, and everyone should remain on guard".

With that the meeting ended and people began making their own way home aside from Siruis who lived here.

Riddle Manor. Little Hangleton.

This large house was once home to Thomas, Mary and their son Tom Riddle, who were Voldemort's paternal family. Their mansion was perched atop a hill that overlooked the village and yet despite being a well-kept manor in a rather nice bit of the English countryside the house had been deserted since Voldemort murdered his grandparents and father here in the Riddle House back during World War 2.

Due to having absorbed two of Voldemort's Horcruxes and taking their power for my own, I'd acquired many of Voldemort's childhood and teenage memories so I knew exactly what had really happened here all those years ago. The local muggles might blame the old caretaker, but they were wrong to suspect poor Frank Bryce who had nothing to do at all with those deaths.

In the summer of 1943, sixteen-year-old Tom Marvolo Riddle, who was already styling himself as Lord Voldemort, came to Little Hangleton in search of his wizard family. Riddle visited the Gaunt shack and found his maternal uncle, Morfin Gaunt, living in rather deplorable conditions. Morfin immediately mistook Riddle for his father, Tom Riddle Sr, who was living in Riddle Manor at the time.

After questioning Morfin Gaunt, the young Voldemort stunned his uncle, took his wand, and then sought out his father who was living with Voldemort's grandparents. I could remember the future Dark Lord having a go at his father. It could be best summed up as 'waa, waa why didn't you love me, daddy? I hate you now die'.

In fact, that first part summed up a lot of Voldemort's teenage years. He spent a great deal of his time at Hogwarts convinced that his father was a powerful wizard who had abandoned him or simply didn't know that young Riddle existed. He'd been convinced that he came from a line of great wizards and that one day he would join them. Then he found out that his mother was a squib and that his father was just some muggle.

After all the murdering was discovered, The Ministry blamed Morfin Gaunt due to his past record and because Voldemort modified his Uncle's memories. That might seem rather unfair to Morfin Gaunt, if not for the fact that the Gaunt wizard likely would have killed a few muggles before long due to being insane already and a blood purist.

While I found that bit of local history to be somewhat interesting I wasn't here to right past wrongs. I was here to set a trap for Dumbledore. I had my fake Horcrux ring and I wanted it ready in place in case I needed something that would at least distract the Bright Lord for a while even if it didn't kill him.

To that end, I'd decided to plant the fake Horcrux ring in the wine cellar of Riddle Manor. I couldn't put it in the Gaunt Shack because the shack wasn't there anymore and since this house was where Voldemort had killed his muggle relatives it seemed like the sort of place where Voldemort would secure one of his Horcruxes.

I'd even added to this impression by placing defences here that a sixteen-year-old Voldemort could have managed to put up. There were rather amateurish in my view, and needlessly dramatic what with needing to shed blood to enter the cellar, but they were kind of defences Voldemort would put here.

While it was possible that the Dark Lord would set up here in this manor house if he returned to this country, something he was taking his sweet time in doing given how long ago some of the Death Eaters had gone into hiding or run away, that should not ruin my plans.

I considered animating a few enlarged Warhammer figures and having them ambush anyone who came over, perhaps they would take down a Death Eater or two should they return with their master, but since I needed Dumbledore to believe that only Voldemort had magically defended this place, I decided against that idea.

There were more than enough defences on the door of the wine cellar to keep away anyone who wasn't really determined to gain entry and Dumbledore was powerful enough to drive even a restored Voldemort away should the Dark Lord take residence here when the Headmaster came to call.

It was just a matter of deciding when I wanted to try killing the Headmaster. I didn't want him dead if that resulted in Voldemort taking over Magical Britain before I was ready to leave, or at all if I could help it. So I would have to be careful about when I tipped him off about this house. If done in the same way I'd let a few other people know about a number of important things, such as exposing Sirius Black's innocence, he should fall for the bait.

Before leaving the manor I found some hiding spots that could be used to keep one of my special crystals out of sight. If Voldemort and some of his followers did set up here I wanted to be able to hear about what they got up to. I would know their plans in case they needed countering.

Knowing my luck they would show up over the summer when I was busy elsewhere and I had considered laying some form of trap for them, but again I dismissed the idea of setting more magical defences, as I wanted Death Eaters to come here rather than go somewhere else, say like Malfoy Manor, a place I couldn't monitor, or any of the other big pureblood homes that were magically defenced well enough to keep me out.

For all, I knew Voldemort was already holding up in one of them along with a few of his followers, and if this was the case then there was nothing I could do about it. I'd just have to wait for the World Cup and see what happened. Assuming that anything happened at all.

I felt fairly sure that Voldemort was in a weakened state because otherwise, he'd come for his diary as Lucius Malfoy would have told his master about handing it over to Tom Hiddleston. Unless he'd failed to mention it, and that could change so I was glad that my home was so well magically defended. It was also good that I could keep an eye on the house even when at Hogwarts.

Not knowing what the dark wizards were getting up to, was something that bothered me quite a bit, but there was nothing I could do about that right now. It was time to get moving if I was going to get back to Godric's Hollow before Hermione noticed that I had snuck out in the middle of the night.

Hogwarts Express. On Route.

"I meant to ask about your plans for the summer," I said to Hermione as I finished staring out at the British countryside "I'll be going away for a few weeks over the summer so I won't be able to have you over for all of the holidays".

Hermione could stay in the castle over the Easter holidays if she wished, as students could do that every Xmas and Easter if they wished, but the summers were another issue. At least Hermione had parents to return to. Simply finding out that she was basically unloved by her parents wasn't grounds for trying to get emancipated, nor would she would want to spend her summers in foster care even if that was an option. Short of running away from home her options were limited.

"I'll have to go back to them at some point," said the young Miss Granger "It's just going to be awkward going on a vacation with them, knowing that they'll be getting up to at night".

Yes, I could imagine that it would be embarrassing even with parents who cared enough about you to show you proper attention. At least they provided for her and didn't feel the need to lecture her about her life choices.

"What do they get to at night?" asked Luna "Do they dress up and fight crime?".

Given that superheroes existed only in fiction over in the muggle world I had nowhere the young Ravenclaw had gotten that notion from.

"Well, I imagine there is some dressing up involved," I said.

I ignored Hermione's attempt to shut me up with a kick to my shin.

"What about you, Luna?" I asked, "Are the Lovegoods planning anything special for the holidays?".

As it turned out they were.

"We will all be going to Holland," she told us "The Quibbler got a tip about the Crumple-Horned Snorkacks making their home within hollow hills in Holland".

I was under the impression that most of the Netherlands consisted of naturally flat, low-lying plains, but there could be magically hidden hills in that country.

"It's a shame that you both have plans with your family" Luna was now saying "Or you could come along".

I think I would have preferred going to Holland to the States. The Ministries of Western Europe are more relaxed that those elsewhere and less likely to notice me using magic when I shouldn't.

"Anyway, you're welcome at mine over Easter if you want to get out of the castle," I told the older Ravencalsw witch "And I'll be gone a couple of weeks at the most during the summer. So I can come and pick you up when I get back. That is if you want to get away".

I felt that she would be far more eager to get away once she'd been forced to spend a few weeks with her mother and father. Even without the whole swinging issue, I imagined that she'd want to return to my place just so she could do magic without getting into trouble with the Ministry.

"That would be nice" was all Hermione had to say on the matter.

Luna didn't seem at all bothered by the idea that I would be spending more time alone with the other young female witch. She just didn't do petty jealously as other girls would. I really should discuss it with her once she was a bit older and find out why she wasn't concerned.

"I was thinking of heading down to the dining compartment for some lunch" I mentioned to the two witches "My treat if anyone wants to join me".

We headed out of our carriage and into the one set aside for those who wanted some more filling than snacks and sweets. With the increasing number of students taking the train as class sizes grew the dining carriage was more crowded than normal, but it didn't take long for the witch who worked here to set us up with a proper meal. Granted it was simple British food, but I liked it.

"Are you going to tutor me in duelling when we get back?" asked Luna as we began to eat.

That was part of my plans for the next term.

"It's a little too soon to be worrying about the exams since I know what they involve I can tutor you for them after the Easter term and we can spend this term really getting to grips with duelling before the school contest begins. You might not get a chance to compete next year and it would be a shame if you don't get to show off your hard work".

So as not to spoil the surprise, information about the Triwizard Tournament was being kept limited to the public, but of course, I'd told Luna and Hermione all about it. Even about how the age restriction for the students of Hogwarts had been lowered to anyone who had passed their OWL exams, those who were under 17 would need permission from a parent or guardian.

I'd considered taking my OWL exams over the summers, something that was quite possible as long as I was willing to pay the Ministery for the privilege, and then giving myself permission so that I could enter. As Tom Hiddleston, I would know about all the tasks well in advance and be able to plan for them.

There would be a great risk in competing, yes, but this was also a chance to test my growing skills. I had plenty of time to weigh the pros and cons. The prize money was nothing to me, and trophies weren't important enough to risk my life over, however, I did wish to test my skills. Plus, if Potter did get entered by Dumbledore or Voldemort, the headmaster might want to test his weapon, then I would be close by the protect him.

Something to think about.

The Room of Requirement. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Upon my return to Hogwarts, I'd decided to clear my schedule as much as possible so that I could focus on training myself, Hermione and Luna, for this year's duelling contest. When I wasn't trying to learn everything I could about the legends of Loki, in case the relic I thought he was sending me after turned out to be something other than The Mask.

"Float like a butterfly, sting like a Billywig," said Luna as she sent a stinging hex at me.

That wasn't the expression I was used to, but it made sense given the context since Billywigs were stinging magical insects. Luna and I were training for this year's duelling contest, and the younger Ravenclaw student so far proved to be hard to strike at due to her unpredictable movements.

I could think of a few spells that would take her down by limiting her movements, but Luna was unlikely to face anything like that when going against wand wavers her own age. I was supposed to be training her to face students in the second and third years so it would be best to keep things simple. When she was older we could train for more serious battles.

With a flick of my wand, I batted aside the minor hex and let it harmlessly strike the wall as I had done with a number of spells Luna had sent my way during this training session. She had plenty of energy for spellcasting.

"Try to vary your spells a bit more" I encouraged.

Her stinging hex really hurt when they struck flesh, but such a minor spell was easily shielded against and her being predictable with her spells was worse.

"Yes future husband," said Luna.

Was she ever going to tire of calling me that?

"Rictusempra!"

I batted that spell aside as well.

"Not a bad choice," I said, "Well the other duellist is busy giggling you can easily stun them or disarm them".

Since I would be going up against older students I would need to be more creative. I would need to think up ways of limiting the movements of other duellists rather than trying to simply batter down their defences or distract them.

"I see that you're getting along without me," said Professor Flitwick as he entered.

Since I'd cleared out everything of value that I could find from this room, including every book worth taking, every bit of jewellery, the lost coins, old wands or magical items worth having, I felt free to expose the existence of this room to more people.

This included the Head of Ravenclaw House, who was happy to have a training area more suited than his classroom, and the Room of Requirement was able to provide all the equipment we needed for proper training sessions.

"Luna is learning fast," I said.

Flitwick was a teacher and he was the head of Ravenclaw house as well as the leader of the Charms club. He did all those jobs while also running the school choir so this left him little time to train students in duelling. As such, he'd entrusted me to teach Luna and Hermione as best I could.

"John I have a little time to train you," said Flitwick "And I believe it is time to teach you about more advanced duelling practices".

This could be very interesting and I would make sure to pay careful attention to what Flitwick had to say.

The Library. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The Hogwarts Library was located via a corridor on the first floor of Hogwarts Castle and contained tens of thousands of books filled up hundreds of shelves. Here under the watchful eye of Madam Irma Pince, the students could seek out knowledge to supplement their studies or pursue their own interests.

While the books containing dark magic and spells that could be considered a little too close to being dark were secured over in the Restricted Section, that part of the library actually contained the fewest books. Which made sense as this was a school not a library in the manor house of some old and dark wizarding family.

There were other sections here that totally dwarfed the Restricted one, such as the shelves that covered the subjects of magizoology (the study of magical creatures) transfiguration, points, charms, astronomy, music, art, history and the subject I cared about most of all, that of mythology.

After a lot of searching, I finally found a book that contained information on The Mask, in a text that talked about magical objects that were believed to have been created by supernatural figures, such as the Deathly Hallows, one of which I possessed, and it even mentioned stuff like the Ark of the Covenant that in the mind of wizards had actually been a creation of the magic-users of ancient times and not a higher power.

My focus was on the relic known simply as The Mask, a lot of the information was mere speculation, but with Cortana's help I'd been able to compare the gathered information with my memories of the movie, and by combing the two I came up with what I hoped were a few reliable facts.

The Mask by itself has no will or personality of its own. However once worn, The Mask brings out the wearer's hidden self, showing their innermost desires, and magnifies their true personality, the man or woman wearing The Mask is in charge, they aren't possessed, but they have very little self-control.

While someone who is wearing The Mask can be dangerous, the artefact only brings out a person's inner desires and displays their traits, as such if a person who is good wears The Mask then it's unlikely that anyone will get killed, but if an evil being were to wear it then disaster can soon follow.

The Mask gives the wearer the ability to channel the powers of Loki himself, enabling the wearer to change reality to their will, but within a limited capacity, there's a range limit, and the wearer would have to be imaginative to make use of The Mask's full powers.

Like me, the wearer of The Mask can shape-shift, but will always have a green head, much like how my eyes always remain green, but The Mask allows for much greater feats of shape-shifting and their reality-warping will beat my illusions easily.

While wearing The Mask the wearer is nearly unstoppable, no mortal weapons can harm him or her, and according to the book attempts to use magic to defeat the one wearing the Mask have all backfired on the wizard or witch who dared to try to subdue the wearer of The Mask.

Any attempts to use magic to track The Mask simply won't work. Which explains why it's not locked up in a version of the Department of Mysteries somewhere in the world. This along with the powers of the wearer of The Mask made it clear to me that trying to track and subdue the wearer would be a really stupid idea.

However, The Mask does have its limits. It will only work at night and the Wearer needs to be awake for The Mask to stay on, so it might be possible to slip the wearer a sleeping potion, but my best bet would be to find out who is wearing The Mask and just take it during the day.

In the movie, the wearer is called Stanly something and he works in a bank. Since the events of the movie will take place over a few days I'd need to move fast and find the right bank.

"Why can't you access my memories about the movie?" I asked Cortana.

I'd watched it a few times so I should know more than this.

"I think The Mask makes itself hard to track and messes with people's memories of it," said Cortana "It is the relic of a trickster god after all".

If Loki could just grab it himself or have any old Muggle do it then he would. He'd chosen me for this task because I was neither mortal nor god, and my knowledge came from outside of this universe. I must be able to remember stuff about The Mask the same way I still knew that Grimmauld Place was Headquarters for the Order of Phoenix.

Since I knew that Stanley throws The Mask into the river at the end of the movie I could just try summoning it from the bridge, but I didn't think it would be that easy. I couldn't recall where Stanley finds The Mask, so I can't prevent the events of the movie from happening.

That was all assuming that it was The Mask I would be looking for. All I knew for certain was the timing was right and that I would be in the right city. It was quite possible that Loki wanted me to go find the rock he is bound to in a few of the legends I'd read about.

Since I was lacking such vital information I could only prepare so much, but it was still worth trying.
