room after his father surprised him.
"C'mon, now, don't ignore me!" Kenichi exclaimed as he armlocks his son.
"Hey! Ow! Ow! That hurts!" Subaru cried.
"Subaru-kun!" Rem cried and tried to rush to him.
"Rem!" Otto yelled and Rem pounced back to the crowd.
"Wh-Why is he... hurting Subaru?" Reinhard asked.
"You can call it as a father-and-son bonding." Kazuma said.
"Hurting your child is also a part of a bonding?!" Everyone asked.
"What's the problem? You train every day and you still lose to one middle-aged man? Whoa, wait for a-" Kenichi stopped as Subaru quickly locks his dad's leg.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!" Kenichi cried.
"Letting me get a counter in? You're getting old, Pops! I'm about to win my decisi-" Subaru stopped as he got his leg locked quickly by his dad.
"Hey, wait! No fair flipping me back over!" Subaru cried.
"Well? Ready to give up?" Kenichi asked.
"It truly is their bonding with each other." Everyone sighed.
"Subaru-kun!" Rem cried.
"This is why he got his Return by Death and wasn't afraid to feel pain anymore. He is already dealing with it before." Ram said.
"But this is a different pain, Ram. One that can strengthen yourself!" Kazuma said.
"Is that so?" Ram asked.
"Wanna try it with me, Ram?" Garfiel asked.
"No." Ram replied with a cold look.
"Hahaha! I like yer reply!" Garfiel exclaimed.
"Excuse me, you two... I'm getting hungry. I'd like to eat breakfast now." Subaru's mom, Naoko knocked on the door and saw the two wrestling each other.
"Whoops... Sorry about that. I got a little carried away with my one-on-one time with Subaru. You could've started without us." Kenichi said.
"Why should I do that when the whole family could eat together?" Naoko asked.
"Yeah, you're right. That's my wife for ya!" Kenichi proudly said.
"Come on, Subaru. Time for breakfast. I put in extra effort today, just for you." Naoko said.
"Sh-She's Subaru's mom...?" Rem asked.
"She's pretty!" Petra said.
"Yeah, she is!" Mildo added.
"Wow, Subaru's mom is so sweet for her son, right Lia?" Puck asked.
"Uh, yeah. So they are Subaru's parents...?" Emilia said.
"Subaru-kun is lucky to have those kinds of parents." Felt said.
"But you do have Old Man Rom and... me, Felt-sama." Reinhard said, making her blush.
"Just stop saying too much, Reinhard!" Felt said while blushing.
The scene shifted to the kitchen where the father and son were shocked by the huge amount of green peas on the bowl.
"Wow, Subaru. Your bowl's a forest of green." Kenichi said.
"Mom, why did you gave me so many peas?" Subaru asked.
"It's not good to be picky about your food. I thought this might be a good chance to get you over that." Naoko said.
"What "chance"? This isn't a special day or anything." Subaru said.
"Very naïve of you, Subaru. Today is... No, every moment of every day is a precious, once-in-a-lifetime moment." Kenichi said as they started to pass the bowl sneakily to one another.
"That's irrelevant right now. I'm digging in." Subaru said.
"Yes, go right ahead." Naoko said.
"What do they call of this?" Mildo asked as he opens the fridge.
"Woah! What is this? *eats chocolate* Mmm! Delicious!" The fat kid exclaimed.
"Hey! How in the heck you opened the fridge and managed to eat one of their food?!" Kazuma shrieked and stops Mildo from getting more.
"That's too many peas out there!" Anastasia said while looking at Subaru's family.
"Mhmm! Delicious!" Mimi exclaimed while eating a burger from the fridge.
"And how did you get one burger from the fridge?!" Tanya angrily asked.
"Subaru-kun likes more food on his bowl? I see!" Rem said with a determined look.
"What's with the look, Rem-san?" Otto asked.
"I've always wondered... Why the mix of Japanese and Western dishes?" Subaru asked while picking up the soup.
"My favorite thing to put in miso soup is wakame seaweed, and I like strawberry jam on my toast." Naoko said. Kenichi on the other hand passed the bowl to Subaru.
"What are we gonna do with this? We just keep passing it around..." Subaru said.
"Well, I hate peas, you know." Naoki said.
"And you were trying to make me stop being picky?!" Subaru whined.
"Don't get the wrong idea, though. I hate all foods that are tiny and round." Naoki said.
"I didn't have any wrong ideas! If anything, I have even more doubts now! Okay, then. The husband should take responsibility for his wife." Subaru said and quickly pushes the bowl, but Kenichi blocks him.
"Subaru, families that get along as well as ours are rare these days. In other words, I hate the same things you and your mother hate!" Kenichi said.
"Then why bother making that massive bowl of peas for him?" Ferris asked.
"To make him suffer?" Ricardo said.
"How do those peas taste, to be honest?" Frederica asked.
"This forest of green was never going to make anyone happy, then!" Subaru said.
"I'll just make it into something we all love: pilaf!" Kenichi said as the bowl of peas turned into a mountain of rice, with peas, carrots, and bits of meat on it.
"I can't even stand to look at it." Naoki said. Kenichi in a nervous look starts to scope some of it and offers to Subaru.
"Subaru." Kenichi said.
"Right." Subaru said. And in the blink of an eye, the bowl and their plates have gone empty after taking it all out.
"Thank you for breakfast." Subaru said.
"Huh?! We didn't even saw how they ate all of it?!" Otto shrieked.
"Oh? The delicious scent of the food disappeared." Daphne sadly said.
"Because they took it all out in a second." Sehkmet said.
"Eh?! No kidding?! That huge aroma of food disappeared in a second? Someone must be more glutton than I do!" Daphne exclaimed.
"No. You're still the most glutton person I've ever know!" Typhon said.
"My pleasure! Now, let's get the dishes to the sink, and we'll race to school to help us digest!" Kenichi said.
"Quit making this a scenario that ends with me going to school. I'm sleeping in until noon." Subaru said while walking away until he felt something that got his head hurt.
"Subaru?" His parents asked.
"It's nothing." He replied and headed back to his room. In there, he clutched his heart due to the pain he got earlier.
"What the hell? Why? Why do I suddenly feel so weird? Once it's past eight... I won't make it to school on time now. So there's no other choice. I have no choice..." Subaru said until he felt the pain once again.
"Why does he feel pain every minute?" Julius asked.
"I don't know but... her future self might know about what's going on." Hetaro replied while looking at Echidna who was focused on Subaru's actions.
"If I'll guess it, this could be one of Young Su's trials." Ryuzu said.
"Young Su?" The knights asked.
"Why? That normally calms it down..." Subaru said and he lied on his bed.
"Mind if I come in, Subaru?" Kenichi asked as he moonwalked himself inside.
"What's the point of asking if you come in before I can answer?" Subaru said with a hurting tone.
"There's no need for that between two guys as tight as you and- Wait, I guess there is! Sorry, I forgot you're a teenager! I'll leave and come back!" Kenichi said.
"I wasn't doing anything! So?" Subaru asked.
"Well... Subaru, is there a girl you like?" Kenichi asked.
"Are we in middle school now?!" Subaru shrieked.
"Huh? Subaru liked someone before he came to our world?" Rem asked.
"Those images behind his father, why are all of them, do have the same hair as Echidna's?" Otto asked.
"Well, if I'm not wrong, Subaru is a NEET, one who does struggle having social interaction with others and instead, focusing himself on certain fantasies that lets him enjoy the most. Like those figurines around him, he probably likes women who have white hair, and because he always sees them in a game or a show he always puts his time on." Naofumi said, making Emilia and Echidna blush.
"S-So he likes people like Emilia-sama and that witch over there?" Felt asked.
"Definitely. And you must already know that in the first place why he is truly in love with Emilia in the first place, nitwits!" Kazuma said.
"O-Of course, we do!" Felt nervously replied.
"He?! Likes... women like me... due to I have the same hair to the ones he fantasizes a lot?" Echidna asked while blushing.
"Don't be so assuming." Rem said with a pout.
"Heh. A person who can't have proper social interaction is a piece of a coward who can't even deal with reality." Tanya said.
"Subaru isn't a coward!" Rem defended.
"Oh? You're saying that after all the things he did to you all, am I right? The reason why Subaru did all of those things for you all is to prove himself he has worth to each one. But instead of getting praised, he always ends up dying brutally due to the cruelty of your world." Tanya said.
"Natsuki-san isn't good at interacting with people back in his world, am I right?" Otto asked.
"Exactly. And to be honest, if I'm right, he doesn't have any friends in the beginning." Naofumi said.
"No friends...?" Emilia asked.
"He's suffering mentally on their world and we see him die physically and horrifically we didn't see nor felt before when he was with us." Reinhard said.
"Are we here to suffer so much? Heh! Does he have that huge role than any of us candidates?" Priscilla asked.
"You still claim you are a candidate to become Lugunica's ruler with that foul mouth of yours? How confident of you, Priscilla. But I'll tell you this, for one time, that Subaru's worth is a building tall than yours." Tanya coldly said.
"Sheesh. I can feel the chilling aura within here." Al said.
"Me too." Felt said.
"Mildo! Stop eating too much chocolate, damn it!" Kazuma cried in the kitchen where Mildo and the other kids are.
"Pathetic." Tanya sighed.
"You're no fun." Kenichi said.
"So, what do you actually want?" Subaru asked.
"Oh, well, you know... The weather's nice, so... Let's go have a nice father-son talk outside." Kenichi said.
The two went outside and walked under the beautiful sakura trees. Subaru wears his usual attire and his father wore a long-sleeved jacket.
"Man, what's with everyone? They happen to see me on my day off and they all assume I lost my job. Hey, don't make such a gloomy face on a nice morning like this." Kenichi said.
"This place is so... beautiful..." Emilia said.
"So these trees too..." Crusch said while they are looking around.
"Can we take some flowers?" Lucas asked.
"Of course not!" Kazuma replied.
"Subaru looks a bit down right now." Echidna said.
"Don't pretend you didn't know any of these in the future, Echidna!" Puck said.
"It's your own fault for dragging me out here." Subaru said without looking at him.
"Don't act all suspicious. I'm not gonna tell you anything scary. It's more of a father-son subject." Kenichi said.
"A father-son subject, huh?" Subaru uttered.
"Ken, my boy! Haven't seen you in a while. Oh? Don't tell me that's..." An old man sweeping on the ground said.
"Yep, that's right. He's my son... Actually, I should say he's my pride and joy." Kenichi said.
"Ah, so I was right. He looks so much like you did when you were... Actually, no, you don't. Do you take after your mom?" The old man asked.
"Uh... Well, a lot of people say I do. My eyes, specially." Subaru replied while laughing a bit.
"Subaru acted a bit strange right now that he is with his parents." Emilia said.
"You're right. But I can't blame him either why is he acting that way. And also, he forgot everything about us all." Puck said.
"I see. Hard to believe you're old enough to have a son that age. Come to think of it... Today's Monday, isn't it? What are you doing out here with your dad at this hour?" The old man asked but Subaru got hurt once again.
"Sorry..." Subaru said and walks past them.
"Hey, Subaru! Sorry about that. We'll stop by again when we have time to chat." Kenichi said.
"Ah, sure. Looks like I said something I shouldn't have. Apologize to him for me, would you?" The old man said.
"You have nothing to apologize for. It's up to him to deal with it himself now." Kenichi said.
"Deal it with himself?" Puck asked.
"I think his father knows about what's happening to Subaru!" Minerva said.
"Eh? How you can say that he knows about the thing that hurts Baru?" Typhon asked.
"Would you please keep watching?" Tanya asked.
"Sorry, ma'am!" The witches replied.
"Here ya go. A tasty, ice-cold cola packed with my love." Kenichi offered a can of cola to Subaru who just bursts it away, making his dad cluck his tongue.
"Don't cluck your tongue at me. I know how you think. Ugh, my hands are all sticky now." Subaru said and drinks a little bit of it.
"Well? Feel better now?" Kenichi asked.
"Hard to say." Subaru replied.
"You look like you're really not feeling well. Want to go home? I can carry you on my back." Kenichi said while offering him a ride.
"You don't have to do that, and I don't need to go home. It's the same at home, anyway." Subaru said while holding his head in pain.
"Listen, Subaru... Not to change the subject, but... Is there a girl you like?" Kenichi asked. Subaru gritted his teeth in anger until...
"Subaru." A voice of a girl called him from nowhere, making him look around for it.
"Emilia?" Crusch asked.
"I-I didn't do anything!" Emilia defended.
"Hmm. This could be before he went to our world. He's starting to hallucinate things because of his likes to the figurines we saw earlieeeeeeer." Roswaal said.
"What's with the darn tone?!" Tanya angrily asked.
"Nah, it can't be helped." Naofumi sighed.
"You always carry a shield but you can't even do a single damn thing about his hum? It's frustrating, you know!" Tanya angrily said.
"What's up?" Kenichi asked.
"Wait... did someone just say my name?" Subaru asked.
"No..." Kenichi replied with a confused look.
"What the heck was that, then?" Subaru asked.
"So? Is there a girl you like?" Kenichi asked.
"Why do you keep asking that? You can stop beating around the bush. Just come out and ask me why I didn't go to school." Subaru said.
"And here I was trying to be considerate for once. Well, that is what I wanted to talk about, so you're not wrong." Kenichi said.
"I know it's disrespectful to you and Mom." Subaru said.
"There's no need to feel that way. I do have the vague sense that you have your reasons for it, and even if you don't, I'm prepared to brush it off as something I can't do anything about. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I personally don't believe school is everything. I mean, what's the big deal?" Kenichi said.
"Why? Why did you suddenly decide to tell me all this today? It's not like today is a special day. It's just... Peas Day." Subaru said.
"Well, your bowl was certainly full of them. I'm not sure why. I guess the look on your face this morning seemed a little better." Kenichi said.
"My face... looked better?" Subaru asked.
"The look on your face. Your face still looks like the bad guy's, with those mean eyes you got from your mom." Kenichi said.
"Nothing about me has changed! That's how I want it, and that's how I'll-" Subaru stopped again as the pain triggered once again.
"Subaru-kun!" Rem cried.
"Why does he have to get hurt when he wants to mention something for himself?" Otto said.
"It's like... it's avoiding Subaru to repeat the mistakes he did again before." Puck said.
"Eh? Avoiding? What are you talking about?" Al asked but Puck didn't reply to him.
"Aw, lame." Al sighed.
"Hey, you look like you're really in pain! Are you okay? Subaru...
"It's been rough, hasn't it?"
Subaru saw a long white hair beside him as a woman in front of him floating and staring at him.
"Thank you, Subaru!"
"Who are you?" Subaru asked.
"For saving me."
"What? What? What's going on? Who are you? Who are you? Who are you?" Subaru keeps asking about the woman.
"May the blessing of the spirits be with you."
"I think you're much more amazing than me. Why do you always save me?" Subaru now sees the image of Emilia in his thoughts and he looked up in the sky with tears in his eyes.
"Sorry. I'm fine now." Subaru replied.
"Really? Well, as long as you feel better. But don't worry me so much, okay?" Kenichi said.
"Sure. Sorry. And... about what you asked me... There is a girl I like. So... I'll be okay now." Subaru said.
"Tch! This is a great opportunity to let Subaru and his family watch their scene together. But they were taken away." Tanya said.
"By who?" Naofumi asked.
"You already know, dumbass. Good thing someone's chasing them right now and I hope the real Subaru and his family won't die for real." Tanya said.
"But Halibel's with them, right? They should be safe." Kazuma said.
"His skills and abilities were taken away as we have our presence on them. That's why the impostor on their side took advantage of it and takes them away." Tanya said.
"I hope they're fine." Kazuma said.
"I remember everything now. What I was so freaked about, and why I was cowering in fear. No, that's not right. I already knew all of it. I knew, but I was pretending I didn't see it. I wanted you and Mom to call out my weakness since I was the only one in pain.
To tell me I'm an unbelievably small person, an idiot who's never good enough, and a self-righteous scumbag. I wanted you both to beat that into me and make me give up. I've always had this way of somehow managing to squeak through anything, you know. Like in schoolwork and sports." Subaru said as a flashback of him in a running contest where he won and his parents were proud of him.
"You're his kid!"
"But... I don't know when it started... But I was no longer the best at things I used to be the best at. What used to be my "best" grew smaller and smaller. I started thinking that it all made no sense. Working my hardest at school seemed stupid. And why is being a fast runner something to brag about?
Making everyone laugh seemed way cooler to me, and I was way better at it.
"You're his kid!"
"Are we seeing how Subaru's life started ever since?" Garfiel asked.
"And if I tell you that you're right, you'll beat him?" Tanya coldly asked.
"I'm just asking, T-Tanya-"
"Major! Call me major, you sharp-teeth beastboy who's good at flirting a maid who can't do anything at a clown's mansion!" Tanya angrily said.
"Yikes! Tanya went too far!" Kazuma cried.
"She's a devil, Kazuma. Deal with it." Naofumi said.
"You can't blame me for hating people who love beating weak people for no apparent reason!" Tanya angrily said.
"But if I kept that up, it became apparent that I'd always have to do something bigger the next time. I didn't want people to think I was boring. I thought I could do anything. I made everyone think I would do anything. And so the things I did got dumber and dumber. I was just out of control, not thinking about anything. I knew they were a bunch of idiots. I wanted them to think that they couldn't have this much fun if they weren't with me.
That they could regret whatever they wanted, as long as we spent the boring times doing pointless crap for fun. I decided I would set my sights higher. But the next thing I knew, I was looking around... And there was no one behind me. That's when I finally realized that there was nothing special about me after all.
"You're his kid!"
"Stop it!" Rem cried.
"What's with the ruckus-" Tanya was stopped by Rem.
"Those people who can't do anything but to compare him to his dad due to the things he has done before is utter crap! Instead, they won't lay a hand to help him to change for the mistakes he has done. That's the reason Subaru-kun got himself in this route of life he would never want!" Rem cried.
"U-Uh... Yeah... you're right." Tanya said.
"That's why some said she's the best girl." Kazuma said.
"I agree. But... we can't do anything to give her Subaru, the man she always wanted." Naofumi said.
"The world is cruel, and unfair, Naofumi. Even if you'll cry in blood, and won't do anything to move forward, you'll gain nothing. But to realize all the time you wasted for having a chance to move on and start a new life." Tanya said.
"From then on, I just spent all my time trying not to stand out. That's how I got through middle school, then when I got into High school... I gotta say I blew my high school debut. But it was bound to happen. I'd never had any real relationships up to that point. High school wasn't gonna be any better.
And then it occurred to me... I just... didn't want to go to school. It all just snowballed from there. One dag a week of skipping school turned into one in every three days, then every other day. It didn't take even three months before I stopped going at all. But no matter how pathetic I was, you and Mom still treated me the same as always. That's what scared me most of all. I wanted to say, "I don't love you." "I despise you." "You're not my son." I wanted you to tell me that and throw me out. I wanted you to make me give up. But...
"It's easy to give up. But it doesn't suit you. I love you, Subaru-kun. Let's start here, from square one. No... From zero! Right! My hero is the greatest in the world!" Rem appeared in Subaru's thoughts as she is floating in front of him and smiled.
"He didn't forget us all when he returned to their world." Rem said with a smile.
"What could've happened if Natsuki-san and Rem-san ran away and never continued to fight for Emilia-sama?" Otto asked.
"Hey! What kind of question is that, Otto-san?!" Petra angrily said.
"What IF Subaru and Rem agreed to run away to Kararagi and left Emilia to rot for good? There is a story of it, to be honest." Naofumi said.
"And what happened to the two?" Ram asked.
"They have a family and kids as well." Kazuma said.
"Blurgh!" Ram choked herself and knocked down.
"M-M-Me?! With Subaru-kun?! We ran away for real?! Can you show it to us?!" Rem asked in both excitement and nervousness.
"They had a child...?" Emilia asked in a blank look.
"No. We won't." Kazuma said.
"Eh?!" Rem cried and Emilia and Puck sighed in relief.
"Let us decide first if we had to. Because there are routes where some might get hurt and some will benefit from it." Naofumi said.
"We're trying to be fair for everyone, that's all." Tanya said.
"Subaru... Father Headbutt! See that, Subaru? That was my most loving Father Headbutt, packed with all my rage!" Kenichi exclaimed with a grin.
"That was an axe kick! Nothing about that was a headbutt!" Subaru cried.
"Ow!" Everyone said and Rem fainted.
"Rem!" Ram called on her sister.
"She can' take anymore the pain she's seeing for Subaru." Naofumi said.
"And that's what you call a disaster treatment." Kazuma said.
"Huh?" The two gods asked.
"But you know, you're pretty dumb, aren't ya? A lot about what you said bothers me, but you know what's the worst? You wanted me to hate you, so you tried to achieve that by playing hooky? Are you dumb?! And if you want to get me to throw you out, pick a more active method! Who would ditch their kid just because he retreated into his shell?!
You're so twisted, you're on the fast track to being an idiot! I'd be glad to set you straight by force if you want... But it looks like you've already been knocked down and stood yourself back up, so there's no need." Kenichi said with a smile.
"Remember what I said? I found a girl I like. Plus, there's a girl who she said loved me, despite the way I am. And neither one of them knows I'm the son of Natsuki Kenichi. In their eyes, I'm just Natsuki Subaru. No, in all of their eyes... I was Natsuki Subaru. I finally figured it out." Subaru said.
"Well, it took you long enough. You're just now coming around to saying all this? I should smack you." Kenichi said.
"You just whacked my skull with your heel a second ago!" Subaru whined.
"Sorry about that. Still, this was my fault for not realizing that you thought so highly of your awesome dad. Sorry I was just too big a part of your life!" Kenichi said and pats his shoulder.
"I don't want to admit that's true, even though it is!" Subaru said.
"But that took a little of the weight off my shoulders. Now all that's left to talk about in the future. We've only just begun." Kenichi said.
"Oh, sure. Um, sorry for putting you through-" Subaru was stopped by Kenichi.
"If you feel sorry, all you gotta do is take your time making it up to us. Take good care of your mom and me when we're old, my eldest son." Kenichi said with a thumbs up and Subaru starts to bawl out.
"I-I'm sorry." Subaru said while sobbing.
"Subaru?" Kenichi asked.
"I'm sorry. I... I... I... can't... I-I'm sorry. I won't be able to make anything up to you before... I never see you again. I'm sorry. I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry!" Subaru cried and Kenichi hugs him.
"No matter how much time passes, you're still such a handful, son. Sheesh." Kenichi said and Subaru kept crying.
"As I figured it out, some are now crying after what they've just witnessed." Tanya said as they looked at some people who cried.
"Natsuki-san... I'm truly sorry that you weren't able to see your parents again because of us!" Otto cried.
"Hmm. Baru can't see them anymore?" Typhon asked.
"What in the heck you just did, Echidna?! You're making us cry too because of this!" Minerva angrily yelled while crying.
"I'm sorry if this happened in the future. Because it was all part-" Echidna was stopped as Tanya stared at her.
"Part of what?" Tanya coldly asked.
"I-I'm sorry." Echidna said.
"Even if this is their future they're watching, she knows it better and accurately." Naofumi said.
"And we're trying to avoid some spoilers from them." Kazuma said.
"I still feel like walking a little more, so I'm going to take the long way home." Kenichi said.
"Okay. I'll head home myself, then." Subaru said. He did some exercises before he walks away.
"Hey, Subaru... I'm sure you have a lot going on, too, so there's only one thing I want to say. Give it your all! I'm expecting the best from you, son." Kenichi said.
"Yeah. You can count on me, Dad. My name is Natsuki Subaru, son of Natsuki Kenichi! So I can do anything and I will do anything! 'Cause your son's just that awesome!" Subaru said in his signature pose.
"I know that. You're half me, after all." Kenichi said and Subaru walked away.
The scene shifted to Subaru now wearing his school uniform and looked at himself in the mirror.
"The student Natsuki Subaru is complete. What's it been, about three months?" Subaru said. He bowed to his room then headed to his mom in the kitchen.
"Oh? Are you nervous? Want to eat some mayonnaise with me?" Naoko asked.
"I'm not in the mood right now." Subaru replied.
"I guess not. You don't actually like mayonnaise that much, after all." Naoko said.
"Huh?" Subaru asked.
"Your dad and I both like it, so you were just sharing it with us." Naoko said.
"Wh-What gives you that- " Subaru was stopped by Naoko.
"Then which would you choose: the world or mayonnaise?" Naoko asked.
"The world, obviously!" Subaru replied.
"You see?" Naoko said with a smile.
"Why do you look so self-satisfied?! Anyone who picks mayonnaise doesn't do it because they like mayonnaise! They just hate the world." Subaru said.
"That's true." Naoko said.
"They'll take the mayonnaise over the world?! What the heck is that mayonnaise anyway?!" Otto cried.
"What a weird thing to ask on what you'll choose between the world and mayonnaise." Kazuma said.
"How will a person live without the world?" Petra asked.
"Simple. They float into the space, lifeless, with their mouth and eyes opened, drooling on the mayonnaise that they chose." Tanya coldly said.
"Why are you stating it as a horror scene?!" Kazuma cried.
"Well, I'm gonna head out." Subaru said.
"You're leaving for school now? I'm glad, but... won't that draw some negative attention? Why not put off until tomorrow what can wait until tomorrow?" Naoko asked.
"Your son finally found the motivation to do something! Don't ruin this! I'm already too hard on everyone else and easy on me as it is!" Subaru said.
"Well, if you really were like that, it would've meant a lot less trouble for me." Naoko said. The scene shifted to Subaru walking to school and his mom following him.
"And why are you following me?! Walking to school with my mom when I'm trying to get over being a shut-in us worse than a game penalty!" Subaru whined.
"I'm not going all the way to school. Just to the convenience store. It's been a long time since you and I walked together, hasn't it?" Naoko said.
"Has it?" Subaru asked.
"What did you and your dad talk about?" Naoko asked.
"Nothing special. Just reliving the past and stuff." Subaru replied.
"Hmm... And reliving the past made you want to go to school?" Naoko asked.
"Well, I guess you could say that. It gave me a chance to look back on some things, so..." Subaru said.
"So you've given up on trying to be just like your father in everything? You were always a hard worker, and you could do a lot of things with minimal effort. Since your dad was so blindly into lots of different things, you had quite a few opportunities. Exhausting, isn't it?" Naoko said.
"Mom, just how much do you..." Subaru uttered.
"You know, Subaru, parents watch their kids much more closely than they realize. I'm always watching you, too, Subaru. I gave you a suppository once when you were little, so I've even seen your butthole." Naoko said.
"Um, sorry, but this was a nice conversation up until now. You don't have to say everything you think." Subaru said.
"Even the weirdest things, his mom can see too. Scary." Kazuma said.
"Then tell me, how you get yourself clean when you were a baby?!" Naofumi angrily asked.
"His mom knows too everything about the things Subaru has done to himself too." Emilia said.
"That's what mothers do, watch over their children, and state the things they've seen from them." Puck said.
"Like what you're doing to Emilia-sama, right, Puck?" Reinhard asked.
"Of course, Reinhard." Puck said with a smile.
"Then why you can't help Subaru when he had problems with Emilia? Isn't it because you don't trust him before? Or is it because you are finding a way to show that true form of yours?" Tanya asked, making Puck fell silent.
"Hey! I think you went too far, Tanya!" Naofumi said.
"I didn't become a leader of my squad if I don't know the words I spit from my mouth, Shield Hero." Tanya said.
"Crap..." Naofumi uttered.
"The mayonnaise, too, and your reasons for not going to school... If there was anything I could have done for you, I gladly would have, but it seemed like nothing I tried would have worked out. But... Someone who isn't me or your father did something for you, didn't they? I think that's a wonderful thing. We should be grateful to them." Naoko said.
"Yeah, that's right. That's why I'm able to walk this path right now. They're really good people. I don't deserve them." Subaru said.
"Her mom meant us, right?" Rem asked.
"Certainly, it is us." Ram said.
"I want to meet Subaru's mom and tell her everything we've done together." Julius said.
"Including the one where you beat him to near-death? Fascinating!" Anastasia said.
"O-Of course not!" Julius quickly replied in embarrassment.
"But you won't give them to anyone else, right?" Naoko asked.
"You better believe it! It's not about whether I'm good enough for them or not. If I had to give them away, I'd make them mine, even if I don't deserve them! I'd just make myself worthy of them after." Subaru said.
"Uh-huh. You're definitely his kid." Naoko said, making Subaru remember the past trauma he had.
"Am I... doing all right? Am I living up to the expectations for his kid?" Subaru asked.
"You don't have to worry. Half of you is me, after all. So if you become even half as cool as your dad, you've filled your quota. Get half as cool as your dad, and the other half can just be Subaru. That means you can just do your best in your own way. At least, that's what I think." Naoko said and walks ahead.
"In my own way... huh?" Subaru asked.
"That's right. You can want to be like your mom and dad as you become Subaru." Naoko said. The two now are in the railway before the train.
"Well, I'm heading this way. Will you be okay on your own?" Naoko asked.
"I'll be fine." Subaru replied.
"I see. Well, give it your all, then." Naoko said and she crossed on the railway to the other side.
"Mom! There's something I need to do! So... I won't be seeing you for a long time! It's kinda far away... so I don't think I'll be able to keep in touch! But no matter where I am... I'll be thinking of you guys! And I'll never... forget you." Subaru said.
"Subaru..." Naoko uttered.
"I'll never not want to be your kid anymore... And I don't want to do anything that would make me hate myself!" Subaru said.
"Subaru... It's okay. I know what you're trying to say." Naoko said as she returned to her son.
"You... do? How?" Subaru asked.
"Well, because I'm your mother, of course." Naoko said. The two looked at each other and Subaru started to cry.
"I'm sorry, Mom. I was... never able to do anything for you guys, and now..." Subaru uttered.
"I'm crying again! Why?!" Otto asked.
"Shut up! You're ruining the moment!" Garfiel yelled and smacks his head.
"We didn't have you because we wanted you to do something for us. We had you because we wanted to do something for you." Naoko said.
"I'm... I'm acting like a little kid... Pathetic..." Subaru said while wiping his tears.
"There's nothing wrong with crying. You can cry all you want. As long as you can smile when you're done, everything will be fine. What matters isn't how you start or what happens in the middle. It's how it ends." Naoko said.
"You mean as long as things turn out okay in the end, nothing else matters?" Subaru asked.
"That's not how I meant for you to take it. It's a homework assignment from me." Naoko said.
"Well... I'm going then." Subaru said and walks away from his mom.
"Oh, that's right! Subaru, Subaru! I almost forgot! Take care!" Naoko said while waving and smiling.
Subaru looked at his mom, remembered the days before he went to another world. He was heading to the convenience store and his mom saw him leaving.
"Take care." Naoko said but Subaru didn't bother to reply and walked out of the room. But now, he smiled and waved back at his mom.
"I will!" Subaru replied.
"I understand now what this episode means for him. All the things he couldn't do with them, the mistakes he thoroughly did ever since, and some events that he might not be able to change again since he's going to our world." Crusch said.
"But in this one, he fixed all the things he didn't make with his family and... sadly, he might not be able to meet them again because of... us." Ferris said, making everyone lower their heads in sadness.
"Are you crying, Naofumi?" Tanya asked.
"Huh?! There's dirt on my eyes, dumbass!" Naofumi replied.
"Heh. We all do, Naofumi. We missed our old lives. Just like Subaru. If we had a chance to fix all of our mistakes for us to come home, then we'll do it." Tanya said.
"You mean you'll start believing in god too?" Kazuma asked.
"Tch! I don't know." Tanya replied.
Room 3-6
Subaru takes a deep breath before entering the classroom. He opens the door and meets Echidna wearing also a student uniform.
"You arrived much earlier than I expected. Welcome. So you've had some time to confront your past. What did it do for you?" Echidna asked and the title "Parent and Child" appeared on the screen.
"Why is she wearing that uniform too?! Does that mean... she and Subaru-kun are from other worlds before?!" Mildo asked.
"That's too much chocolate for you, kid! Give me that!" Kazuma yelled and grabs the chocolate from Mildo.
"I've never thought this place is organized and a better one to live in. If I became the ruler of Lugunica, I'll do my best to have this as a blueprint to what I wish for my people and to my land." Crusch said while looking at the window from the classroom.
"You're right. Those huge buildings too are amazing! What do you think is their purpose?" Anastasia asked.
"Subaru confronted his past? Which means..." Julius uttered.
"This is all part of Echidna's plaaaaan." Roswaal said.
"All right! Let's go and start the next one!" Naofumi said.
