Flashback
"Huh...? A flashback?" Frederica asked. The gods looked at Garfiel as they already knew that this episode is all about his past.
"Everyone will witness the sad past of that annoying lion..." Tanya said.
"Hey, even if he is annoying, he sure has a lot of sad memories that he doesn't want to share with everyone. And when did he become annoying though?" Ainz asked.
"Well, at least everyone in here will know the backstory of Garfiel and why his character is interesting, despite the negative reactions and hostility he shows towards Subaru." Naofumi said.
"And how about that idiot over there...?" Ainz asked while looking at Kazuma who swirls something on his fingers and dances right in front of Mildo.
"He's scaring him. Mildo's trying to grab another chocolate bar from him." Naofumi said.
"Oh god..." Ainz sighed.
Ryuzu slowly wakes up after she got unconscious and sees a younger Gar frightened and had a blank expression. He starts bashing his head on the wall all of a sudden after they went out of the Trial.
"Young Gar, stop! Stop! Stop!" Ryuzu cried and rushes at him.
"That's Gar when he was little?!" Rem asked in surprise.
"Hey... Wait a damn minute... What are we watching right now huh?!" Garfiel angrily asked. Ryuzu pats his shoulder and slowly shook her head.
"Heh. I guess it's about time we will see your backstory, huh, Garf?" Ram asked with a smirk.
"I hate that kind of expression from you, Ram!" Garfiel angrily roared.
"Sister, stop bullying him." Rem said with a disappointed look.
"Heh. Fine." Ram said and looked back at the scene.
"Garf's past..." Emilia uttered.
"I see... Doesn't mean that we... will also see our..." Frederica uttered.
"Shut up! Don't say another word about it!" Garfiel angrily yelled.
"His past trauma starts to hit him once again..." Ainz said.
"And angers himself as well." Tanya said.
Blood splats from his forehead while banging the wall and some flashbacks were shown from his mind, up until the X scar shows up on his forehead after a stronger bash to the wall, making it bleed more and worse than before.
"Young Gar..." Ryuzu uttered, and this made Gar yell in pain and anger.
Flashback Ended
"Otto, you idiot. You went and did something crazy, didn't you?" Subaru asked.
"I never knew he had it in 'im. To add insult to injury, he even won Ram over... And now I look like this!" Garfiel said.
"Ram? What happened to them?" Subaru asked.
"What you guys are plotting don't mean shit to me." Garfiel said.
"You didn't kill them, did you?" Subaru asked.
"I told ya, it didn't mean shit! Move. I'm gonna smash up the entrance, and put an end to all of this." Garfiel said.
"Do you want us all to be locked inside the Sanctuary forever Garfiel?! Are you insane?!" Otto angrily asked.
"And what about it, huh?!" Garfiel angrily yelled back.
"This isn't good now..." Frederica said.
"Tch. I hope he didn't kill me in that one." Ram said.
"If you do that, the Sanctuary will be closed off forever. Is that what you want?" Subaru asked.
"Yes, it is. Every other damn thing is the problem!" Garfiel replied. He marches closer to them and sees Emilia trying to stop him from whatever he's planning.
"What're you tryin' to pull? Huh?!" He angrily asked.
"Garfiel, what are you so afraid of?" Emilia asked.
"You think... I'm afraid?" Garfiel asked.
"You are. That's why you're shouting and trying to make yourself look bigger, isn't it?" Emilia said.
"Emilia's getting him now..." Halibel said.
"Oh? Emilia's putting on a show now, huh?" Echidna asked.
"Yeah! Go and make him cry, Emilia!" Minerva yelled.
"Shut up, you damned witch!" Garfiel roared.
"What are you... What the hell do you think you know about me?!" Garfiel angrily asked.
"I do know. Because... I've been afraid of many things throughout my life. I lived in fear right up until today. I left all the bad things in Puck's hands so I could forget them, but now I've finally remembered." Emilia said.
"Shut up." Garfiel said.
"I still haven't figured out what it is I need to do. I need to find out what that is. But...
"Shut up! Get out! Don't you... Don't you even dare..." Garfiel uttered.
But you've already found that something for yourself, haven't you?" Emilia asked.
"I told you to shut your damn mouth!" Garfiel yelled.
"You're just too half-assed, Garfiel. It's true that Emilia failed the trial once. I can't deny that she cried her eyes out when it showed her a past she didn't want to see, either. But Emilia will keep trying, over and over. Unlike you, the guy who gave up and ran away. Garfiel, do you have a grudge against your mother who abandoned you?" Subaru asked and flash images of his mother, and the scene before was shown.
"Shit... Shit...!" Garfiel angrily uttered.
"Don't worry Gar... We won't be foolish to say anything stupid about your past-" Otto was stopped by Garfiel.
"Shut up! Damn it!" Garfiel angrily yelled.
"Whether you hate it or not, this is the moment where everyone will know your past... And we will be here to support and cheer you up!" Ferris said.
"Yes, he's right, Garfiel. Please endure the anger you wanna release to us." Frederica said. Garfiel starts to listen to everyone and looked at their concerned expressions towards him, and he looked away and calmed down.
"Well done, everyone. This is the right time when we need to support Garfiel. This is his future we're watching right now. And let's make sure that he will completely grasp and accept this future without getting angry or mock at him. Are we clear?!" Tanya asked.
"Yes, Ma'am!" Everyone replied.
"Do you have to go that far, Tanya?" Naofuni sighed.
"Sorry, man. We take off our shoes when visiting someone's home, but it's the Natsuki family way to trample all over people's hearts with our shoes on. Your mother left you and Frederica behind when she left the Sanctuary. And then... what did you do?" Subaru asked and this made Garfiel starts to get frightened about what he was hearing and slowly step back.
"This is the first time I see him act like that..." Rem said.
"Me too." Ram said.
"Garfiel..." Otto uttered while looking at Garfiel who's really angry about this scene.
"Frederica left the Sanctuary, too. She believed you'd eventually liberate it, so she left to make a place in the outside world for the people living here. And what have you been doing here on the inside? You want to keep the Sanctuary closed off because you hate your mother and the outside world that made her leave you? Because you don't want to be hurt here?!" Subaru added while he marches forward, while Garfiel falls back.
"Heh. What a shame." Ram said.
"Hey!" Some of the characters scolded Ram for her reaction.
"What? Now that we know that this is why he doesn't want Barusu to leave and doesn't trust him at all, it is all because of his sad past. How unfortunate." Ram said.
"Yeah. But, how can you mock him in such a way we are in this scene where he looks way different from the past episodes? And..." Otto was stopped suddenly by a growling Garfiel.
"Shut up... Shut up... SHUT UP!" Garfiel yelled.
"Sister! Would you mind keeping that sadistic attitude of yours?!" Rem asked.
"Ah... How fascinating this iiiiiis~." Roswaal said.
"Tch. That clown starts to back that pink-haired maid up after all." Kadomon said while biting an apple angrily.
"No, you're... What the hell do you..." Garfiel uttered in fear.
"I don't! Not unless you tell me! I won't understand until you speak! If you hate your mother, then bust out of here right now to get revenge on her or whatever! Don't take it out on the rest of us in here! You hate your family! If you didn't-"
"You're wrong! I... I..." Garfiel interrupts Subaru with a yell and starts stuttering.
"Tell me the truth!" Subaru yelled.
"I... wanted... my mom to... be happy. We were in the way, weren't we? My sister and I were in the way of her happiness, weren't we?! It only makes sense! She couldn't even stand to look at us! If you're carryin' baggage like that, what's wrong with dumpin' it somewhere?! Mom left so she could find happiness! So I'm not holdin' anything against her!
But... I saw it... I saw it in the graveyard... Right after Mom left here, there was a landslide. And she died! Why? Didn't she leave here so she could find happiness? Didn't she leave us behind so she could find happiness?! If she abandoned us only to die before she could find happiness...
What are we supposed to do? I wanted Mom to be happy. I wanted her to make me believe our sadness and loneliness served the purpose of helping her find happiness! I wanted her to make me hate her!" Garfiel yelled.
Frederica hugged her brother after hearing all of this and tried to make him feel better. But Garfiel slowly tries to get rid of her.
"Garf... Please listen... I know it hurts for you to recall all those bad memories of the past but, Mother would be-" Frederica was stopped by Garfiel.
"Would be what?! She left us either way! And now everyone here sees the other side of my personality! Are you all happy now?! Huh?!" Garfiel angrily asked while tears from his eyes start to fall.
"G-Garfiel! No one's mocking you about these emotions we're watching right now. We're just..." Otto uttered.
"Your mom won't be happy if you'll hate her. It is also painful for her to see her children being left behind if you would ask me." Rem said.
"Yeah, they're right. We just wanna know what happened to your past and why that hostility of yours towards Subaru is too much." Ferris said.
"I'm not lettin' you get to the outside world. Things changing ain't gonna make everyone happy. For a lot of us, nothing's ever gonna get better! I'm gonna protect them. I'm gonna protect everything and everyone within my reach. I will become a barrier! A real barrier that separates the inside from the outside!" Garfiel said with a pose that resembles protecting everyone around him while his aura of transformation starts to appear.
"No... Please Garf, no..." Emilia begged.
"This is why I don't want anyone to recall my past... You dare messin' with me, the one who doesn't want to go out into the outside world and be separated from everyone out there..." Garfiel angrily uttered.
"Instead of protecting everyone, you are also hurting some people who just wanted to do better things for everyone and you in the Sanctuary." Julius said.
"Better things?! In what way and how can these people make the situation better huh?!" Garfiel angrily asked.
"Mommy... He's too scary...!" Mildo cried.
"Quit crying around, Mildo..." Lucas sighed
"Garfiel!" Subaru called.
"The Sanctuary, the people here, the old hag... I'll protect them all! No one can do it but me! No one will know but me! And no one else needs to know!" Garfiel yelled and now fully transforms into his golden beast form.
"Subaru!" Emilia ran past him and is posing to protect Subaru from Garfiel.
"It's okay, Emilia. You're so damn stubborn. I guess I'll have to force you into total submission to make you realize... that you're just a big, sweet idiot!" Subaru yelled and now charges at Garfiel, who also does charge back at Subaru.
"Subaru-kun!" Rem cried.
"Are you nuts?! Why are you going to rush towards that monster?!" Otto cried.
"Is he planning something...?" Reinhard asked.
"Natsuki Subaru... Whatever plan you have this time against Garfiel, make sure it is worth it." Crusch said.
"Subaru-dono..." Wilhelm uttered.
"You'd better survive this, body! Shamac!" Subaru unleashes his Shadow Magic Spell toward Garfiel and everything stopped around Garfiel, before it scatters around them both
"Thanks." He added that the said magic spell now shrouds Garfiel's vision and both of them are inside the said spell.
"Come on down to my level, Garfiel!" Subaru yelled and stabs the blue glowing stone on Garfiel's arm and reverts him back to his human form.
"What the...?" Garfiel uttered in shock after witnessing the attack Subaru did against him.
"H-He got him...?" Otto asked.
"Hm... As expected..." Crusch said with a smile.
"Lucky..." Priscilla mocked.
"Just accept it, my lady. He performed this attack perfectly without getting distracted by the size of his opponent and how ferocious it is than his frail body." Al said.
"Subaru-sama..." Frederica uttered and sobbed with a smile.
"Wh-What just..." Garfiel uttered and kneels down after what just happened to him.
"Is this... my sister's? Damn it, why..." He uttered.
"Good question. Maybe there's a really hungry cat hanging out inside it?" Subaru asked.
"That's all the help I can give you." Puck said from inside the glowing stone.
"Puck?!" Emilia asked in surprise.
"You were in there?!" Otto asked.
"No wonder how I got defeated... It's because of this damn cat..." Garfiel uttered.
"Tee-hee!" Puck smirked.
"Don't "Tee-hee" me!" Garfiel angrily yelled.
"The smaller cat defeats the bigger lion... Damn..." Lucas uttered.
"Don't overthink about it." Kazuma said.
"Apparently, even when you can't talk, you find a way to be annoying by glowing. Look at me, Garfiel." Subaru said.
"Huh?" Garfiel asked and looked at Subaru.
"If you want to stop me, do it with your own hands. Don't wuss out and hide behind your blood, you spineless coward! When are you gonna stop taking me for a fool? We're going to the outside world. Emilia will take on the graveyard. The Sanctuary will be liberated. Whether you want to do it..." Subaru said.
"Who asked you to do that?! Who said you could?! This place doesn't need to change!" Garfiel yelled.
"You know it's not gonna stay like this forever! In the same way we've all been completely cornered, there's gonna be a time when you'll be helpless on your own! It could be tomorrow... or right now! Just go down, Garfiel. Learn what strength in numbers means!" Subaru said.
"There had to be... a better way for you to say that!" Garfiel yelled and punches Subaru in the face. But he didn't fall down from the powerful punch Garfiel landed on his face. The self-proclaimed barrier stepped back and was shocked at Subaru who managed to withstand his punch and grinned at him, then Subaru spits the blood he had in his mouth while embracing the punch.
"Wha..." Garfiel uttered in shock.
"N-N-Natsuki-san didn't fall or got blown away..." Otto uttered.
"Hmph. He's just lucky Garfiel's not in good form." Ram said.
"Why are you so always against Subaru you damn maid?!" Kazuma angrily asked.
"I agree. That clown over there might've influenced her that much." Tanya added.
"Now, now." Ainz tries to settle things down before it escalates.
"That just concludes that this is Young Gar's loss against Young Su." Ryuzu said.
"Huh?! In what way did I lose?!" Garfiel angrily asked.
"I guess he really isn't fooling around this time, right Lia?" Puck asked.
"Yeah..." Emilia uttered while watching the scene.
"Take a good look, Garfiel. The wall you're so afraid of doesn't exist." Subaru said.
"It does exist! I am the wall! I stopped here, and so did the old hag and everyone else. And that's the end of it! That means it's over!" Garfiel yelled.
"Don't just give up on yourself! Whenever you think, "I wanna do it! I wanna change!" That's where your starting line is!" Subaru yelled.
Background Music (Opening song) starts to play
"When you decide to lift your head and walk again, who has the right to stop you, for any reason?! Isn't that right, Garfiel?! Isn't that right, Emilia?!
And...
Isn't that right, Rem?!" Subaru yelled while remembering the past events and challenges he had to face just to reach this very moment where he would do everything he can to help Garfiel.
"Damn you!" Garfiel roared once again and is about to punch Subaru once again. But a power residing inside Subaru starts to awaken, and that's the Authority of Sloth he got from Betelguese from their last battle. He yells with all of his might and an Unseen Hand in a form of a fist punches Garfiel via uppercut and sends him away.
"Is that...?!" Minerva asked in shock.
"Petelguese's... Unseen Hands!" Ferris said.
"How did he manage to use that?! Amazing!" Mimi exclaimed.
"Hahaha! It looks like Subaru has some new weapons up on his arsenal. And he's getting better every time." Reinhard said with a smile.
"Not bad." Julius added.
"He might've used that Authority, but the toll of using it for the first time won't be as impressive as what he did just now." Sehkmet said.
"E-Everyone must've known about it... L-Let them see his amazing moment..." Carmilla said.
"Eh... What was that kabaam? Is that a huge meal?" Daphne asked.
"No, it isn't!" Otto cried.
"Subaru-dono never fails to impress me every time he fights for what is right and for Emilia-sama." Wilhelm said.
"Wonderful! My son! Elegant!" Kenichi praised Subaru while hugging him.
"Dad! It's embarrassing!" Subaru cried.
"Haha! Lemme join too!" Satella added and two of them are now hugging Subaru.
"What's wrong with ya guys?" Halibel asked and sliced an apple into fours with a Kunai.
The Unseen Hand slowly disappears and makes Subaru weakened and is on his knees.
"Talk about a bad first impression for a new technique.
*spits saliva*
Come on, you've gotta be kidding. Just how tough are you, man?" Subaru asked in disbelief while looking at Garfiel who barely stands up after the punch.
"Don't you... underestimate me. As long as... I don't break... I can still..." Garfiel uttered weakly while slowly walking towards Subaru despite being punched surprisingly in the gut.
"Well, damn. After all this, I have no choice but to recognize your strength." Subaru said.
"This is... the end of it! No one else will ever-" Garfiel stopped when suddenly a charging Patrasche bulldozes him and sends him crashing into the walls. The Ground Dragon remembered the awful event before where it got smashed by Garfiel and now roars after finally taking revenge against him.
"Patrasche too?!" Otto asked.
"Buwahaha! That damn brat got a piece of the Ground Dragon eh?!" Old Man Rom laughed.
"Shut it old man!" Garfiel yelled.
"There, there. Finally, you have avenged yourself, Patrasche!" Petra said while patting the Ground Dragon's head.
"As if she died." Echidna said.
Subaru just witnessed the surprise attack by Patrasche and just laughs about it.
"What do you think, Garfiel? This is what you call "strength in numbers." Subaru said.
"Again... there had to be... a better way... to say that." Garfiel uttered.
"Okay, then. All of our feelings came together, and our bond won us this battle." Subaru said.
"I guess nobody can lift a quain stone alone..." Garfiel uttered and falls asleep.
"You finally said something that sounds like it came from you..." Subaru uttered and falls asleep as well.
'That nasty witch was probably behind it. That Sloth Witch Factor that she talked about...
Unseen Hand... Unperceived Impact... No... It's the invisible will of God.'
"Invisible Providence. That's what I'll call it." Subaru said.
"Huh? What did you say?" Emilia asked.
"Uh, nothing. Huh... You're letting me use your lap as a pillow again. I guess that's my reward for overcoming my biggest battle yet." Subaru said.
"Yes, yes." Emilia said and pats him. Patrasche roared from behind and Otto can be seen sitting behind them as well.
"Oh, Natsuki-san, you're awa-" Otto stopped as he got charged by Subaru in the gut.
"Wh-What did you do that for?!" Otto cried.
"Yeah! Why?!" Otto cried from the audience.
"You deserve that." Ram said.
"In what way?!" Otto angrily asked.
"Don't mind... Otto..." Carmilla calms Otto down with a pat.
"Shut up, you idiot! You jerk! This happened because you went off and did your own thing! But I guess might have been in trouble without your help, so it's not like I'm not grateful at all." Subaru said.
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Otto yelled. Subaru offered him a hand after their argument.
"I'm glad you're all right." He said and helps Otto stand up.
"Same to you, Natsuki-san." Otto said. Patrasche bangs Subaru's back to get his attention and it can be seen growling at him.
"Need a translation?" Otto asked.
"She said, "Don't worry me like that", right?" Subaru asked.
"Also, "Don't get too full of yourself. There won't be a next time." That's where the extra rage is coming from." Otto said.
"Thanks, girl." Subaru said and pats Patrasche.
"So, where's Garfiel?" He asked.
"Over there. But... I don't think we should interrupt just yet." Emilia said while looking at Ram letting Garfiel sleep on her lap from afar.
"Interrupt?" Subaru asked.
"Yes." Emilia replied.
*slaps*
"What was that for?!" Garfiel angrily asked.
"You won't get any moment like that from me. Ever." Ram said and walks away.
"That's a nice moment you two have there." Rem said.
"Heh... I guess my future with them ain't bad after all." Garfiel smirked.
"Now his egoistic side has returned." Kadomon said.
"Garf, you're awake?" Ram asked.
"Yeah... I'm awake." Garfiel replied.
"Then get off me already." Ram said and pushes Garfiel's head off of her lap.
"That's rude!" Minerva said.
"Yeah!" Daphne added.
"Heh." Ram said.
"Tch..." Garfiel grunted in disappointment.
"Sister..." Rem uttered with a disappointed look.
"My feet are going numb." Ram added while cleaning her skirt.
"Still ain't a shred of niceness in you, is there?" Garfiel asked.
"When there's someone worth being nice to, I can be nice." Ram said.
"And I'm not worth that, huh?" Garfiel asked.
"Sorry. If you want to hear a lady's true feelings, try a little harder. Garf, you're too stupid. It's no use trying to think." Ram said.
"Huh?" Garfiel asked.
"From now on, fight with an empty head and don't think about anything. For myself, and for Emilia-sama, too." Ram said.
"Buh! Don't be dumb! I admit that I lost! But admitting and surrendering are two different things! I could pick up where I left off right-" Garfiel was stopped suddenly by Ram.
"Stop yammering! You lost, Garf, you purrfect loser. How long must you carry on in front of the woman you love before you're satisfied?" Ram asked.
"S-So you want me to just fall in line beside the rest of you with a smile? I accept that I lost, but I don't accept that I was wrong! That's right! I don't think I was in the wrong! So I can't make some half-assed attempt to-" Garfiel said.
"If you don't want it to stop at half-assed, you just need to prove that you're not standing still." Ram said.
"Huh?" Garfiel asked. Ram points to the door to the Trial and he looks at it.
"The trial..." Garfiel uttered.
"Can you change, or are you going to be a little cowering child stuck in one place forever? Find out with your own eyes." Ram said.
"Don't say it in a way that makes me wanna deny it!" Garfiel said. He remembered the words Subaru yelled at him earlier and was still deciding on what to do.
"You look as if you've made up your mind. You'll be fine, Garf. If anything frightens you to the point of tears, I'll comfort you. As a favor to an old friend, you know?" Ram said with a smile. And now Garfiel enters the trial, thanks to Ram.
"All because of Ram, she made Garfiel take the Trial and face his past. This is for his sake as well. I'm grateful to you, Ram." Frederica said.
"No worries." Ram said.
"Thanks about it, Ram." Garfiel said.
"Heh. Hm. Well, yeah. I guess I did something that would make him better after all." Ram said with a smile, and makes Garfiel blush.
"Hey, look! Garfiel's blushing!" Lucas teased.
"Huh?! When?! How?!" Garfiel angrily yelled while trying to act like his normal boastful self.
"I'm happy that sister did something to make him take the trial and face his past one more time." Rem said.
"If she didn't, then Garfiel may not be able to move on and might not help Subaru whenever he needs him." Reinhard said.
"What do you mean?" Rem asked.
"If Garfiel joins Subaru's side, then the battle in Mathers' mansion won't be as difficult as before." Reinhard said.
"Did he just... know what would happen next...?" Ainz asked in shock.
"I guess he did it through analyzing the situation." Naofumi said.
Garfiel touches the door and still shivers at what is he about to do this time.
"Damn it all!" He angrily said and opens the door.
'First, you must confront your own past.'
"Watching Garfiel in a trial is kinda interesting from this perspective." Echidna said.
"Ah..." Roswaal hummed with a smile.
"What are you smiling at?" Puck asked.
"Nothing. But watching his trial would give me a better understanding of how he got that attitude from the past." Roswaal said.
"You do love insulting people sometimes in different ways." Puck said. Frederica holds her sibling's hand while they are watching his scene at the Trial.
Garfiel now looks around the forest where the events from the past occurred. He heard a crying baby behind him and turns around to see him before when he was a baby.
"Mom..." Garfiel uttered.
"You insist on going?" Ryuzu asked.
"Yeah. Although I know it will impose a burden on you..." Reshia said.
"I am not concerned with that. The great issue is... how these two little ones feel." Ryuzu said. Baby Garfiel plays with one of the glowing stones on his mother's neck and giggles. The older Garfiel got annoyed and charged at him.
"You piece of shit!" Garfiel roared and tried to punch his baby form and his mother as well, which didn't work at all.
"You know that it is still you, right? In your younger form?" Otto asked and Garfiel punches him away.
"Damn it, Otto..." Ram uttered.
"Why did you remind him about that? Just be quiet for his moment..." Julius said.
"R-Right..." Otto uttered.
"Ooh! Blood!" Daphne sniffed.
"N-No!" Carmilla tries to stop Daphne from charging toward Otto.
"What are you, a vampire?!" Subaru asked from above.
"Mother, I-I..." The younger version of Frederica uttered.
"I'm sorry, Fred, dear. I know this is causing so much worry for you, too." Reshia said and Frederica quickly shook her head.
"I'm all right... but I feel bad for Garf." Frederica said.
"I wish we could go together, but I'm just so clumsy. I know it would be an awful experience for him. Fred, you're very responsible, even for a child of mine, so please take care of him." Reshia said.
"No! Don't! Mom, don't go outside!" The older Garfiel warned.
Tears from Garfiel with his head down can be seen as he couldn't do anything to stop his mother from going to the outside world.
"He's frustrated... I see." Anastasia said.
"Well, who else wouldn't be frustrated about it? Seeing your mother... die... man... This is awful." Ricardo said.
"Here. For you and Gar." Reshia gives the two glowing stones to Frederica and kisses her forehead, and to baby Garfiel as well.
"Baby Gar, your mommy has to go now." Reshia said and kisses his forehead.
"Don't!" The older Garfiel cried.
"I promise I'll bring your father back. Just wait until then." Reshia said and this made Garfiel surprised, while the baby starts to cry.
"My... father?" Garfiel asked and stepped back.
"He didn't know about it?" Emilia asked. Garfiel in the audience looked terrified and shocked as well after hearing from his mother that she wanted to go to the outside world to bring their father back to them.
"No... No... It can't be. It must be a lie! A lie!" Garfiel angrily yelled.
"Garf! Please!" Frederica cried and hugged him tightly.
"But she said she wanted happiness, right?! She abandoned us!" Garfiel cried.
"Please, Garfiel! Enough!" Frederica cried.
"I feel sorry for him... And don't force yourself to be sorry to him, my lady." Al said.
"Heh. Why would I?" Priscilla asked with an annoyed look, but quickly looks away after Kazuma shows a hand sign that would make him do something awful this time to her.
"Ah... Kazuma-sama... Well, do whatever you want." Al mumbled underneath his helm and focused on the scene.
"That's a lie... That's wrong. You left here to find happiness." Garfiel said.
"Mother loved both you and me dearly, Garf. She left the Sanctuary for her family's sake. Are you not content with that?" The younger Frederica said to the older Garfiel as everything around them stopped.
"L-Like hell she did! If she loved us, then why-" Garfiel uttered.
"It probably made things easier believing that she didn't love us. If you believed that your love was one-sided, you could justify the pain it caused you." Frederica said.
"No! You're wrong! You don't know anything! When Mom leaves here, she's gonna-" Garfiel cried.
"Of course, I know that."
"Huh?" Garfiel asked.
"There's no way I wouldn't. If Mother did meet misfortune upon leaving here, do you think Grandmother would not inform us?" Frederica said.
"Then... Then why?!" Garfiel asked.
"You must know why you were not told at such a young age. Because, Garf, you are no longer a young child. In truth, you remembered that Mother loved you, didn't you? You have that scar on your forehead because you wanted to forget her kiss.
You wanted to make it disappear so you gave it to yourself. This is the end of your past." Frederica said and Garfiel sobbed after hearing all of this. And the surroundings start to vanish slowly.
"Wait... Wait a minute. What am I supposed to do?" Garfiel asked.
"If you must rely on your older sister even when she's still so young, you will never find your answer." Frederica said.
"I know it's pathetic! But you're the only one I can count on! Please..." Garfiel begged.
"What do you want to do, Garf? What do you want to do, Garf?" Frederica asked.
"I wanna do what I'm expected to do." Garfiel replied with a serious response.
"What who expects you to do?" Frederica asked.
"The people... All the people who need me. I wanna do what they expect me to." Garfiel replied.
"And what makes you feel that way?" Frederica asked. Garfiel remembered two people in his thoughts and responds.
"They made me remember... that Mom... really loved me." Garfiel replied with a smile. The younger Frederica smiled back at him and they slowly vanished.
"Garf?" Ram asked Garfiel who raises his head and smiled.
"I guess... I was wrong after all... about Mother... In fact, I did bash my forehead to forget all of the love she poured upon me for one last time before she left... And now that I know the true reason why she left... I feel kinda guilty but happy. Happy because I now know that she... do really loves me and my sister... and guilty because of my actions before without knowing the whole reason." Garfiel said.
"You were too young to know and understand why she really left you. Besides, we already expected this personality you had shown to us from the beginning. But now that you have been enlightened by this scene, this makes me happy too that you are smiling now, Young Gar." Ryuzu said.
"I-I know..." Garfiel blushes in embarrassment.
"I think you won't be that guy anymore. The guy who gets cocky-" Otto stopped as Garfiel tackles him and bullies Otto.
"When would that happen, huh?!" Garfiel asked while annoys Otto who asks for help.
"No! Please! Stop! Help!" Otto cried.
"Hmph. Immatures." Ram looked away but smiled for Garfiel who finally understood the whole thing about his past.
"He's still the Garfiel you know from before. But he's a bit sweeter and a caring one now." Frederica said.
"Don't say embarrassing things like that, sister!" Garfiel yelled while annoys Otto.
"Only if he took the trial earlier before Subaru-dono declared war on Roswaal, things could've been easier for them." Wilhelm said.
"Without any conflict or challenges along the way, you won't be seeing the improvement you wanted from those people. I think it's better that this came happened in this way rather than the easy one so that they will get better and stronger." Naofumi said.
"I won't bother telling your conflicts before because they're too ugly and crappy. Especially that Bitch who betrayed you-" Kazuma stopped as Naofumi shuts his mouth.
"Don't tell them about my past, moron!" Naofumi scolded.
"You're right, Naofumi-sama." Wilhelm said.
"So... Is Shima-san Ryuzu-san's older sister, or her younger brother?" Emilia asked as the two Ryuzus in different attires looked at Emilia.
"Uh, actually... that's kinda confusing, so we'll save it for later." Subaru said. The glowing light from the trial disappeared and everyone looked at the entrance where Garfiel has already come out.
"Young Gar!"
"Y-Young Gar... You see, I... We..." The two Ryuzus called on Garfiel who leaps on them.
"Don't make that face, old hags. It don't suit ya. Sorry I worried you." Garfiel said and pats their heads, making them start crying.
"Garf, how did it go?" Ram asked.
"Well, I can't say I really got any results you can see out of it. But... I do think I got some closure." Garfiel replied and Ram smiled at him.
"Okay, then, let's do the rest of the trial while-" Subaru suddenly got interrupted by Garfiel.
"Now, that ain't my job." Garfiel said.
"That's right. It's my job. Don't just go and take it." Emilia said.
"Yeah, and uh... I also wanna say... I think the reason I finally accepted the trial was probably because of you. Thanks." Garfiel said and quickly closes his eyes.
"Did you just say "thanks"? Subaru asked.
"I'm not gonna say it again! Listen up! I realize I lost! But if you guys liberate this place and the old hags suffer for it, I won't go easy on ya!" Garfiel yelled while blushing.
"Y-Yeah, of course..." Subaru uttered.
"Which means I'm gonna be here to make sure you're not all talk! So make sure ya do it right, boss!" Garfiel said and hardly pats his shoulder then walks away.
"Ow!"
"His face was so red!" Emilia said.
"Boss? Between the two of us, you're above me, though." Subaru said.
"I bet you feel as if you've gained a new brother. You're older than he is, so be lenient." Ram said.
"Well, in that case... Wait a minute! Did you just say he's younger than me?!" Subaru asked.
"Garf is only turning fourteen this year." Ram said.
"He's an eighth-grader!" Subaru yelled in shock.
"Eighth-grader?" Garfiel asked.
"More of like a junior of Subaru in their school or back from their world. He doesn't know that he fought someone so young as Garfiel." Ainz replied.
"Hahaha! Too embarrassing that you're fighting against a younger kid, huh?" Halibel asked.
"Shut up! Only if I knew! I would've to go easier on him! But still, the same method of course!" Subaru cried.
"Hahaha! It's okay, my son!" Kenichi said.
"It isn't!" Subaru cried.
"Are you going?" Subaru asked Emilia who was ready to take the trial.
"Yeah. If I stay here too long, my resolve will waver. Hey, Subaru... About what happened in the graveyard..." Emilia uttered.
"Emilia?" Subaru asked.
"Y-You know! When we... Um... it means a lot to me, so when the trial and everything else is taken care of, let's talk it over... okay?" Emilia said.
"Uh-huh! Uh-huh!" Subaru quickly replied while blushing. He takes a deeper breath and looks at Emilia.
"It's okay, Rem." Ram said while patting her.
"Sister!" Rem yelled while blushing.
"Ram loves to tease her sister eh?" Garfiel said.
"Well, that's what siblings do. They do love to tease each other. And care for each other as well." Frederica said.
"Talking now about what you'll do when it's over... You must be pretty confident, Emilia-tan." Subaru said.
"I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just putting up a tough front." Emilia said.
"I know it'll work out. I'll wager a date with you on that!" Subaru said with a bright smile and thumbs up.
"Yes, of course. I'll be going now." Emilia said as the lights on the Trial start to glow.
"Go get 'em! Watch out for cars and boys!" Subaru said
"Don't be silly." Emilia laughed and walked inside.
"Cars? What are those?" Otto asked.
"Hmmm. I assume that's their vehicle from their world. Way faster and better than in our world." Russell said.
"Some can be faster than Ground Dragons and some can carry tons of stuff and goods." Tanya said.
"Faster than Ground Dragons?! Those cars might be insane!" Mildo said.
"Didn't we discuss about the cars before?" Naofumi asked.
"We're just refreshing their thoughts about what a car is." Tanya said.
"A giltylaw that came one step short? Ya can't be much of a man if ya keep lookin' all worried, boss." Garfiel said as he walks towards Subaru.
"The way you talk makes sense now that I know you're an eighth-grader. I rattled off a lot of quotes from famous people when I was that age, too." Subaru said.
"Hey, listen... There's somethin' I oughta apologize to you for." Garfiel said.
"Well, that's admirable of you. Go on then. You can talk to your boss about anything. Man, I'm embarrassed just saying that." Subaru said.
"I saw you." Garfiel replied.
"Huh?" Subaru asked.
"When you, uh... you know... got a little... desperate?" Garfiel said with a grin and Subaru realizes what he meant.
"What? O-Oh, crap! I forgot! But I mean, I wasn't expecting you to come in!" Subaru cried.
"That's why you should do that in private rather than in public." Julius said.
"Yes, yes. Some people around you will use that scene to make fun of you or tease you." Anastasia said.
"But I thought he was outside of the Trial?" Otto asked.
"Maybe he did a peek and ran away from them." Ferris said.
"Sneaky bastard." Ram said.
"What?!" Garfiel asked angrily.
"Ehehe..." Frederica laughed at her brother's reaction.
"But seeing that made me realize somethin'. You may be a complete dumbass, but I'm sure glad you're the one I lost to!" Garfiel mocked.
"Shut up! Just forget about it! You're not a kid, so pretend you... didn't... Wait, you are a kid!" Subaru cried and Garfiel laughed about it. Emilia looked around inside the trial and saw something that took her attention.
"Subaru, you dummy." She said as she saw the drawings and vandals on the wall from Subaru that are all cheers and good luck for her.
"Give it your best. I know you can do it."
"Puck and I are both rooting for you."
"When this is over, let's go on a date!"
"You really are a dummy. Dummy... Dummy... Subaru, you nincompoop. How could you break your promise to stay with me? I swear I'm never, ever going to forgive you until you apologize." Emilia said and now enters into her trial.
"Hi there. I certainly have had a lot of visitors lately. Awfully bold of you to stroll in here after that disgraceful display before. Even I'm surprised. You loose woman, who kisses up to the first man to comfort you when you're sobbing in despair...
You shameless fool, who keeps soiling the world that is mine alone... You utterly selfish hedonist, who loves the you that he's forgiven... Well, why don't you say something... witch's daughter?" Echidna said in an unwelcoming mood towards Emilia.
"Tch..." Echidna already dislikes what she's seeing right now right in front of them.
"Hehe... It's her time now to embarrass Echidna!" Minerva said.
"*sighs* Another catfight...?" Sehkmet asked.
"D-Don't let her get you, Emilia...!" Carmilla said.
"Yeah! Yeah!" Typhon added.
"Uwaah. Is this delicious?" Daphne asked while poking Otto's stomach.
"Wha...?! Help!" Otto cried.
"Heh... This is her time to shine now, Echidna." Satella said with a menacing look from above.
"Yikes! Get away from her, son!" Kenichi cried.
"On it!" Subaru replied and ran.
"No! Subaru!" Satella cried and chased him.
"Goodness gracious..." Halibel sighed.
Emilia opens her eyes and raises her hand pointing upwards with a pose towards Echidna with determination.
"My name is simply Emilia! I am the Frozen Witch, born in Elior Forest!" Emilia proudly said and now points at Echidna.
"I won't give in to the malice of a fellow witch. I'm quite an insufferable woman, after all!" Emilia said with a proud smile and the title "Nobody Can Lift a Quain Stone Alone" was shown to everyone.
"Woohoo! It's Lia's time to shine now!" Puck exclaimed.
"Yes! Emilia-sama will show to that witch what she's made of!" Rem cheered.
"I thought you will-" Ram was stopped by Otto and Garfiel from saying any negative comments on her sister and tied her in a chair.
"Sheesh. You did well there, boys." Wilhelm said.
"It's time... For her to shine..." Roswaal said with a malicious grin.
"Eugh... That bastard clown strikes again with his looks. Holy shit..." Old Man Rom said.
"All right! Let us begin the new episode!" Naofumi said.
"Yeah!" Everyone exclaimed.
"What's with him either way...?" Old Man Rom added.
