It looks like I'll have only one chance to defeat her... but it looks like I may just have a way to win...
I mean, it's debatable if it will work, but it should.
Or at least buy time for the others to finish up their own fights.
The blue haired woman before me sways slightly in the rain as she presses her hands against her blushing cheeks.
"He makes my heart flutter." The girl intones, swaying slightly, seemingly lost in a daydream.
She pauses abruptly. "But wait?"
Tears prickle her eyes as she dramatically puts the back of her hand across her forehead. "Alas, the rain woman cannot find true happiness, for the rain that follows her forever taints her image."
She gains a sudden mad glint to her eye. "YOU! What do you think of rain?!"
"Oh, that is quite simple, I find the rain quite appealing. The quiet drizzle eases my worries and the background noise makes it extremely easy to sleep. In this situation I suppose it has its advantages and disadvantages... it possibly makes you quite a bit stronger which is a little disadvantageous considering you are fighting me, yet it seems to weaken the fire mages. Overall. I'd say it's an overall advantage."
"He speaks like a prince!" The girl squeals, clenching her eyes shut and shaking her fists as she shudders in excitement. "And he likes rain! JUVIA WILL MAKE HIM HER'S!"
She holds out both hands as a stream of water lashes out from the ocean.
'Oh... right...'
Probably not all too good to be fighting her beside the ocean.
'Ah shit. Her magic power is not only multiplied several fold, the mana efficiency is far greater as well due to her not being forced to create water with her magic.'
I flip off the raised platform of obsidian as the water tendril smashes through it, causing it to shatter into sharp pieces that skitter across the wet stone road down below.
"I will be taking the largest threat away from here!" I declare loudly as I turn and begin sprinting as fast as I can.
"My prince! Please wait up!" The girl shouts as she begins swiftly following me, almost skipping after me.
'Now I just need to stall the miniature natural disaster until the rest of the guild cleans up.'
Pov: Within the road

The three fairy tail mages let out cries of pain as rapid letters shoot from beside the book-wielding mage. Each letter hits with the speed of a bullet, making the magic fairly difficult to dodge.
The blue haired solid script mage winces.
'Damn it!' She mentally curses as she glares at the teen with long white hair in front of her. 'Is... is there really such a large gap between us?!'
The S Class Alphabet mage of Phantom lord, Schoena.
In the past, she actually looked up to him, believe it or not... he showed that those with less flashy magics could truly be powerful...
He set the standard for most word-crafting wizards.
But after he started attacking the Fairy Tail guild under the orders of his deranged guild master... she lost any and all respect she held for him. He is nothing more than a brutish monster like all phantom lord mages seem to be. With no regard for civilian life.
There is a little issue with this brute, however.
His magic is quite a bit different than the blue haired girl's...
Far more powerful.
It requires little to no setup to deal damage. Even a simple letter can cause a fairly severe injury... as he has been showing off quite ruthlessly for the past five or so minutes.
The fact that team Shadow Gear has been able to hold on this long is honestly astounding, by all means they reasonably shouldn't.
Every time he completes a word, an effect relating to the word in question is achieved. 'Hot' results in a searing burn, 'Boom' explodes, 'Zap' shocks, 'Pain' inflicts unbearable pain, and 'Crush' pins their body under a tremendous weight.
He can cast his magic far faster than the girl, who has to write each and every letter of the effect she wants out.
His magic is so much quicker to cast and so much more powerful than hers? How is this fair?!
The solid script mage powers through her pain, quickly writing a B in the air with her finger.
The U and the two Ls come just as swiftly.
Her eyes slowly follow two letters shot in between the two Ls, a 'U' and a 'T'.
As they make contact with her body she lets out a cry of pain, as the earlier 'C' she got struck with opens a large gash in her side.
The blue haired mage's eyes widen as she spies three more letters rushing towards one of her comrades, the plant mage, Droy.
She abandons her current 'bullet' spell, ignoring it as the glowing words are tinted brown, two curved horns appear at the front of the 'B' and it grows some fur and a tail.
Her eyes snap over to the letter imbedded in the plant mage's body as she draws a rapid 'D' in the air, followed shortly by an 'A' and an 'M'.
A large wooden wall intercepts the last letter shot by the phantom lord mage, an M, as the 'Bull' in front of the solid script mage rushes forwards with a bellow.
Droy lets out a grunt as two 'O's slam into his chest.
"AH!" He flinches abruptly as the word 'Boo' shines upon him.
In an instant, four hovering letters beside the white-haired man shoot down into the ground, the road rising upwards and forming a wall
A large crack cascades across the rock wall as the word 'Bull' dissipates into motes of light.
The word mage rapidly writes the word 'Bullet' in the air with a fingertip.
The white haired mage leaps over the wall, six letters springing into a large magical shield around his forearm that absorbs a hail of bullets as a cacophony of 'bangs' fill the air.
The mage takes cover behind his shield as his eyes track the speed mage rushing around.
Levy spies the speed mage rushing forwards, causing her to abandon her attacking spell, lessening the pressure on the S Class phantom lord mage and giving him enough time to turn to face Jet.
A 'G' strikes the leg of the speed mage as he lashes out with a kick that causes the alphabet mage to slide back slightly as he blocks it with his shield.
Numerous letters form around the phantom lord mage as Jet rushes to the side, running down the street at high speeds.
The wet roads haven't been too good for him... he hasn't been able to unleash his full potential speed...
The shield cracks as the speed mage rushes past, another letter stamps into his body as he is nearly tripped.
Levy's eyes widen as they slowly trail around the words floating above and across those stuck within the speed mage.
"A, G, O, N, I, Z, I, N, G"
The girl's eyes widen.
"No..." She hollowly whispers
One thing all word magic shares in common is that gets more powerful the longer and more complex the word in question is... the word 'Boom' is powerful when given enough power, sure, but it would NEVER hold a candle to the word 'Explosion' or 'Detonation'.
A word like 'Agonizing' might cause Jet to instantly go into shock or die!
She has to do something QUICK.
Roots burst from the ground, causing the white haired mage to backflip, sending three letters down towards the swiping roots that are shaped like fists.
A massive gash appears in the plant life as the cut spell lands.
five more letters turn the area into a whirlwind of blades, utterly blending the plants into nothing.
Levy continues working on her spell as the mage shoots off two N's towards the speed mage, the first is dodged, but the second strikes his leg, dropping him to a knee.
An 'I' strikes the speed mage in the chest causing him to let out a weak groan as he nearly falls backwards.
Levy narrows her eyes, this is going to take all of her magic power, but... in the end? If she can defeat this fiendish wordsmith and save the lives of team shadow gear, it is an acceptable loss.
She lunges in the way of the 'Zing' that is shot towards the orange haired speed mage, a golden spell following closely behind, she screams out the name of her spell as she slides to a halt, pebbles skittering across the road as her feet nearly slip out from under her.
"PROTECTION!"
A dome of energy surrounds her and Jet, then a secondary barrier surrounds the plant mage a short distance away, the blue haired solid script mage turns on a dime, kneeling before her teammate.
"Please work. Please Work." The girl chants under her breath as she lines up the letters strewn across the speed mages' body, one of his eyes crack open as he lets out a weak grunt that is ignored by the girl as she tries desperately to hype herself up. "I-It's out last hope, it has to work. His magic can do adjectives, mine should to. It's fine. It's totally fine."
"Agoni... what can I do with Agoni?!" She hisses under her breath.
A sudden stroke of inspiration strikes the girl, her breath catching in her throat.
"Oh."
"D!" "R!" "F!" "I!" "C!" "A!" "T!" "I!" "O!" "N!" The girl intones as she draws the letters with a fingertip.
A new spell sits before her, so she calls it out with her one last exerted breath. "DRAGONIFICATION!"
The silver haired mage lets out a shout of surprise, his magic power emptying as he completes his part of the spell, Levy's isn't doing any better as her own instantly falls to zero as well.
Jet screams, a roar echoing from his throat as his teeth lengthen, scales cross his body as tiny horns sprout from his forehead.
In the next moment, he blasts up from a seated position, his normally black eyes a deep orange color.
He speaks out in a low almost guttural growl. "Don't worry Levy... you did good. You should take a load off. I'll take care of the word mage and then help the others."
He blurs forwards, far faster than his normal speed, he seems to underestimate just how fast he can now run and he promptly body checks the phantom lord mage, sending both sprawling down the street, tumbling in a tangle of limbs as they both roll to a stop a good fifty feet away.
Both are thoroughly unconscious, both locked together messily, the orange scales being to slowly creep back before disappearing from the speed mage entirely, his teeth shrink back to normal and the miniature horns disappear.
Levy lets out a low groan as she falls to her knees.
An explosion is heard behind her, ruffling her hair as she just sits there, unable to move, her legs are completely jelly right now, everything hurts.
Droy rushes over and puts one of her arms around his shoulder. "Come on! We need to get some distance!"
She weakly limps forwards under the support of the plant mage.
"Thanks, Droy." She whispers, sheer exhaustion setting in. "I-I wasn't sure my last gambit would pay off."
"You were awesome, Levy!" The young man grins.
"Thanks." She weakly replies as she allows the plant mage to sit her down behind a small wall.
She peeks around the corner as he quickly goes over to grab the unconscious speed mage.
Flashes of light illuminate the sky as the battle in the street seems to intensify. She has done all she can. She never realized just how... weak... she was before now...
Her mind flashes back to the green haired teen as she bites her lip, looking down at the ground in disappointment.
Damn it.
He has been in the guild for not even a month and... he is already so much stronger than her! So much more useful...
She thought her greatest asset was her brain, but... at a certain point... brawn, speed, durability and raw magical power just... trump that.
She brings her knees up to her chest.
She and team shadow gear managed to defeat one of the S class mages, yet... for a majority of that fight he was merely toying with them... they managed to win, yet she is out of commission, Jet is out of commission, and Droy isn't much better, someone could breathe on him wrong and he would probably collapse.
Everyone else is still fighting... she would just get in the way as it is right now.
Why can't she be more like Pierce... he... instantly took out one of the S class that even Erza was struggling with! Then he started distracting possibly the most dangerous out of all the other mages here! All while severely weakened! She knows deflecting that wave took up most of his energy, but he is still fighting.
She is useless now, but... she doesn't want to be anymore!
She was able to make use of Schoena's Alphabet Magic... perhaps... she should learn that as well? There's another thing as well... she completed an adjective. She has never been able to do that before... if she can figure out how to replicate it, her strength should surge as well.
The girl frowns up at the sky.
Those are methods to help her be stronger in the future, but... as of right now, she just feels so useless... so helpless...
Pov: Up in the sky
A woman riding a ghost shark smirks maliciously as she flies through the sky.
She has dark black hair that covers an eye, wears an open high collared red coat with a bikini that has a shark-teeth like motif across the fronts to cover her breasts, she has extremely short shorts, black thigh high stockings, and wears white high heel boots with some shark motifs on the sides.
In another part of the sky you have two girls riding a giant white fleshed bearded man with no pupils and four arms wielding a giant hammer, the first is a woman with a slight feathery overcoat, she has snow white hair that goes to her lower back with a strand of hair that just doesn't seem to want to lay down, sticking straight up with a slight curve that makes it look similar to a halo.
"Shark spirit magic?!" She whispers under her breath. "That doesn't make sense!"
"I get spirit magic, or shark magic? But why specify shark spirit magic?! Are there other spirit magics beyond Celestial spirit magic?! Is there a pantheon of sharks out there somewhere in the world?"
"Sora!" The younger of the two abruptly exclaims as another blade of water cuts a gash into one of the large hammer wielding angel's four arms. "We're in a fight! Please focus!"
The older fairy tail mage shakes her head as the large figure they are riding upon flaps his wings, carrying them over the snapping jaws of a large ghost shark.
"You are so right my adorable little Yukino!" The elder sister gasps. "We must take down this fiend for daring to pick a fight with Fairy Tail!"
Three arrows shoot through the sky, a green one, a purple one, and an orange one, each rocket towards the shark mage, but they are all blocked by a dome of ethereal energy that springs up around her.
A large white sphere with jaws clashes with a spectral shark as both the black haired woman and the older white haired fairy tail wizard hold out a hand.
"GRUAAAH!" The angel beneath the fairy tail mage's feet roars as he lunges forwards, swinging his hammer downwards, attempting to smash the shark wizard down to the earth below.
He misses, of course, as the shark riding woman swerves out of the way abruptly.
The three ethereal arrows spiral out of the air as the shark mage boredly swipes a hand at them, sending three perfectly aimed blades of water at the celestial spirits.
This clearly isn't working.
The angel mage lets out a quiet growl. "I didn't want to be forced to pull this out quite yet because it'll tire me out... but if this keeps up, we'll lose."
"I'll go all out as well!" The small girl exclaims, causing the three arrows to disappear.
With a flash five coins appear in front of the angel mage as the small girl pulls out a silver key. "Open! Gate of the swan! Deneb!"
"Come forth, angel from the heavens, Barakiel!"
With a flash two things happen, firstly, a massive figure appears floating in the air, held aloft by two white wings, it has long white hair that raises towards the sky, he has disproportionately long arms with absolutely massive, thick, club-like forearms and almost anorexic biceps, he has double jointed wrists and large hands with fingers tipped with absolutely monstrous talons.
It wears a baggy robe that hangs loosely off its thin body.
The most striking thing, however, is the fact that it has three heads.
One slightly higher than it should be, and the others where its ears would normally be.
The next figure to appear... is an emo...
He has black hair covering one eye, dark circles under his shown eye, and wears a purple leather jacket and pants, starting at his wrist and ending near his armpit massive black wings sprout from his jacket, he looks around slowly, a frown on his face.
"Tch." He scoffs.
The angel uncrosses its arms and creates a massive red and black sphere of energy in front of itself.
"Deneb!" The young girl cheers. "DON'T! And I really mean this! DO NOT beat up that black haired shark woman until she is unconscious!"
The edgy crouched celestial spirit's eyes narrow as with an incredible burst of speed he lunges forwards, soaring through the air at speeds more than thrice the speed of the earlier arrows.
The Phantom lord mage lets out a shocked gasp as she deflects a swipe from the swan spirit.
He turns on a dime in the air and tries thrice more before being blasted back with a pair of spectral jaws that clamp around the spirits midsection.
The phantom lord mage turns as the massive energy blast shoots towards her.
With an upward swipe of her hand, the orb is cleaved in half, the two parts flying around her-
They stop just beside her, causing the girl's eyes to widen as suddenly, both of the orb halves explode, propelling a cone of smaller energy blasts inwards form both directions.
The phantom lord lets out a scream as an energy barrier is pelted from both sides, it resists most of the damage, yet a fair portion slips through.
"Deneb! Don't try your best!" The younger of the Agria sibling exclaims suddenly.
The spirit of the swan's eyes seem to sharpen again as he legitimately disappears this time, the reeling phantom lord mage looks over in surprise as the hole-filled barrier around her gains a massive gash as a line of light rockets past her.
It abruptly turns, flying past her once more, only this time bypassing her barrier entirely and leaving a large wound in the mage's side.
With another turn, the light bends one final time, rocketing towards its starting position and leaving a large glowing triangle behind.
The shark mage is struck by lightning as the triangle shrinks and detonates.
Smoke blots out the sky for a brief moment as a figure falls through the bottom of the smoke cloud.
The black-haired phantom lord mage lands atop a nearby building, her body causing a large dent in the tiled roof as she lays there, unconscious.
The two girls riding atop the shoulders of the hammer Angel look down across the battlefield, smiles on their faces.
Fairy tail... has won...
The older one flinches abruptly. "Oh shit."
"LANGUAGE!" Her younger sister gasps.
"The water mage is still going after the green haired guy." Sorano whispers.
Pov: A little while ago on the ground.
Things... haven't exactly been going well for Jellal Fernandes.
It all started when he was just a wee boy... when he, and numerous others, got kidnapped to work on a god forsaken tower in the middle of the ocean.
That's a story for another time, however.
Jellal has been in fairy tail for most of his life at this point.
He doesn't regret even a moment, even if he isn't exactly gung-ho on combat and destruction as his guildmates.
Despite his power, he would much rather spend the day reading a nice book...
Which is why the past two and a half weeks have been fairly... sub par...
First he had to fight some form of giant demon and a dark guild... then another dark guild... and now Phantom lord is attacking.
He is beginning to sense a theme.
But, even as injured as he is, he will fight all the same. As he has been doing so for the past five minutes or so.
Nobody goes after his family and gets away with it. It doesn't matter if each movement makes his cracked ribs ache.
He ducks around a flaming punch, the golden aura of his meteor spell surrounding his body and increasing his speed massively, the pressure he has felt fighting the Phantom Lord S class has eased up. He was desperate to save Erza, but Pierce showed up and took matters into his own hands, knocking out one of the larger threats and taking quite possibly the largest threat in the city out of the scenario.
Not many mages change the very world around them just by merely existing. He can only think of one off the top of his head... Gildarts, the ace of Fairy Tail who has a power so tremendously destructive, the entire town of Magnolia simply decided to install massive mechanical tracks to move buildings out of the way of his path to the guild hall.
It's clear that this girl still hasn't reached her full potential, but it is still a foe he doubts he could defeat even if he was at full power.
Her intangibility would be the greatest issue, Erza would probably have a better time due to her elemental swords.
A gout of blue flames is avoided as the fairy tail mage floats up and over the attack, it curves to follow him but with a sudden burst of speed he swerves through the sky and reappears in front of the teen with white and black hair, the one who shot it.
The phantom lord mage's eyes widen slightly as the fairy tail mage smashes a punch into his face.
Jellal turns on a dime, swiping his hand out in front of him. "Jiu Leixing!"
Nine sharp blasts of energy shoot around him, impacting the 'Burning Spirit' mage as he lunges forwards.
The yellow spears detonate as they make contact, launching the phantom lord mage away from him.
Held aloft by his flying spell, the blue haired fairy tail wizard spins, landing three kicks to the torso and face of the other fire mage.
In a way, he is lucky, three of the mages were a little hard to deal with. The main issue was the gunslinger wizard. With Erza free, she began to take on the Phantom Lord gun mage, but before that, each and every time Jellal would try to strike something, one of the other two would leap in, the fire mages are manageable considering that their power is weakened by the humidity in the air and the rain pelting Magnolia, any other time, he might be a bit troubled by the two of them, still being slightly weakened from Abyss Horn's guild master, but like this? This is easy.
Three punches riddle the torso of the masked mage, then in the next moment, Jellal dodges, allowing a purple fire to strike the phantom lord mage in the chest.
Friendly fire... amusing.
His boot comes up and kicks the Burning Spirit wizard forwards.
A flaming figure seems to sprout from the buff man's back, it takes a swing at the blue haired fairy tail wizard, but Jellal avoids it fairly easily.
Streams of rainbow fire shoot down from the sky as the blue haired mage weaves between them, a frown on his face.
He should probably finish this up quickly to help Pierce deal with the water woman. If he remembers correctly, the merchant mage only has telekinesis and whatever black rock magic he just used on hand.
So, he more than likely won't be able to deal any serious damage to the water woman.
His eyes widen as the white and black haired phantom lord wizard appears beside him, a sword his hand, a few of the fairy tail mage's hairs are shaved off as he lurches back.
He snaps his hands together abruptly. "Pleiades!"
Six beams of light punch through the clouds above, they swirl downwards and with a massive explosion which ruffles his clothes, the phantom lord mage struck by the attack falls unconscious.
The second fire wizard rushes forwards with a roar, but Jellal drops low, grabbing the extended punch of Biamask by the wrist, then he turns, he sweeps the legs of the masked fire mage and sends him flipping through the air with a strong throw, he crashes into the black rock wall that Pierce had made, cracking it and sending shards of obsidian raining down onto the road.
Jellal points one finger up and swings it downwards "Starfall!"
A single mote of light shoots downwards from the sky and strikes the phantom lord mage, creating a brilliant dome of golden energy as it crashes into the ground.
Jellal turns to see his red haired partner clashing with a blonde woman.
The phantom lord mage has two revolvers in hand, small dents in the metal line the barrels from where they have been struck by swords, for a ranged fighter, the woman is doing far better in melee than he would have expected.
She parries one of Erza's slashes with the barrel of her left gun and fires two quick magical bullets with the other, Erza, of course blocks the two shots with the side of the blade in her other hand, but cracks cascade across the sword, causing it to shatter as the red haired woman swings it forwards.
The hilt flies from her grasp as she lets go, forcing the blonde to tilt her head out of the way of the thrown handguard, another sword appears in Erza's hand right after.
The blue haired fairy tail mage swipes a hand, tapping into his minute knowledge of water magic to cause one of the puddles beneath the gun mage to spring to life and smash into the back of her knee.
Her leg buckles, Erza taking the opportunity to lunge forwards and land a pair of deep cuts on the woman's stomach, the phantom lord mage lets out a grunt of pain, but turns, raising both revolvers, seemingly preparing to use all of her magical power on this next barrage, but Erza was faster. She whirls around, slamming the pommel of one of her blades into the side of the woman's head, knocking her to the side where she remains, unconscious on the floor.
Erza lets out an exerted huff as she looks up, it appears Lucy had managed to defeat the mirror and sound mage. A large goat man and a... small... blue haired child with a large golden urn on her shoulder stands at the blonde's sides.
Jellal looks to the sky to see that Sorano and Yukino have defeated their foe as well.
He sees Levy peeking out from around a nearby corner, the mage they were fighting is laying out in the middle of the road, signifying her victory.
"We need to go help Pierce-" he declares only to cut off as he realizes something.
He watches the green haired teen in question slowly wandering back, a large obsidian jar on his shoulder.
"…"
A smile crosses his face as he looks around the battlefield. "Oh good. You are victorious."
"Pierce?! What happened to the blue haired woman?!" Erza asks.
"Her? Oh. I just trapped her in this jar."
The blackened glass-like material becomes clear for a moment, showing the blue haired woman within, most of her body liquefied, but her upper torso is still complete.
She has a slightly... crazy... look as she presses her hands and face into the glass, seemingly trying to get as close as physically possible to the merchant mage, she is kissing the glass roughly where his cheek would be.
The glass darkens yet again, hiding the woman from view. "So, what is our next plan of action? Capture these few fiendish fellows?"
"I... believe that would be for the best." Jellal nods slowly looking over the mass of people. "I think that we may have some magic restraining cuffs back at the guild hall."
"We'll be right back!" The older of the two white haired mages riding on the shoulders of the massive four armed angel exclaims. "Watch them!"
The figure begins quickly flying towards the guild hall in the distance as Levy weakly winces and limps out from behind the building. "Pierce... how did you manage to capture her?"
"She was... rather... hn... distracted and that gave me a brilliant opportunity to trap her in a bubble of telekinetic energy that I kept shrinking, the only exit being into this jar." The green haired teen explains.
"I see." The blue haired girl mutters.
"I believe it would be for the best to get you all medical attention." He announces as he looks from Levy, to the unconscious Jet, and the one who is lugging him around, Droy.
Lucy's eyes widen as she quickly rushes over to the blue haired girl, offering her some support as it looks like she could collapse at any second. "Levy! Oh my god! What happened to you?!"
"I'm fine, Lucy." The girl smiles. "That word mage was just... a bit tougher than I expected."
Jellal looks over the group with a slow nod.
"I'm quite annoyed with how Phantom Lord decided to pick a fight with us." The green haired mage announces.
"Not only did they force me to blow through the rest of my savings, I merely wanted to just sit around and mess with my magic for a couple of days. But alas it seems like it wasn't meant to be." The green haired mage announces with an annoyed head shake.
That makes two of them.
Hey all! This chapter really flew together! I just wanted to get it out to you all before I went to bed! I hope you all enjoy it!
Phantom lord is defeated yet again!
Surprisingly even Levy managed to win.
Huh...
Guest Reviews:
Reaaaaly & uhuhughhh (The same person): If you do not like it. You are free to leave. Yes, Mavis is 100 years old, yes this is how she acted in the anime, nearly crying when her plan went even slightly off course. Deal with it.
Guest 001: Why does Juvia like him? Because he's hot. She had literally no idea what type of mage Grey was and still did the EXACT same thing to him. Him liking rain just settled it.
JustAFan123: his limit of purchase is basically just his Mana and his Money, beyond that, he can buy basically ANYTHING. Healing wounds dirrectly would be cheaper than buying a healing consumable which does the exact same effect because with a healing consumable, he doesn't need to be there when it is used. Plus he could always save it for later use, and in said case, his mana wouldn't be lowered.
Guest 002: EXACTLY!
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! As always, I have a Pat Reon at Pat reon (Dotcom) (Slash) Flameclawsxx
