Bell was born as a renard, but not just any renard but a special type. He lives with his grandfather who hasn't given up on his hope that a hero will rise. Seeing that Bell could be that hero he trains him before having to part ways as Bell heads to Orario to live and experience a new life. How will his journey proceed?

2. Becoming An Adventurer

Here is chapter two of this story. Alise will make the proposal in this one and a few revelations will be made.

Chapter 2 – Becoming An Adventurer

The following morning Bell woke up in his cosy bed, wrapped up in his nine tails, with a smile. He stretched his body before hopping off the bed and moving to change himself in his casual clothes, which consisted of a plain black shirt and black pants.

He would head to the Guild to retrieve enough valis to afford his equipment before heading to the tower. With his plans laid out, Bell left his room and headed downstairs where Mia and the other girls were prepping the pub for opening hours.

"Going out?"

"Yep, I'll be back as soon as I'm done. See you later."

The renard bid goodbye to the waving cat girls before leaving the pub without the usual cloak as it was no longer necessary.

Arriving at the Guild, Bell entered the large white building and found it to be full of adventurers. Though early morning, it didn't surprise Bell that there were these many people here. Ignoring the looks he got from his unique features, Bell moved towards the counter where he had met the half elf the day before.

Luckily for him she was there at the same counter. As he arrived at the counter the half elf looked at Bell and stopped to stare for a while, not having seen a renard before in her life. Bell's head tilt and confused look snapped Eina out before she recited the same greeting as yesterday.

"Yes, I know. I'm the one that gave you the letter by Zeus yesterday."

"Eh? That was you?"

"Yes. My name is Bell."

"Oh. Umm, right. Is there something you need?"

"Yes I need to register as an adventurer, but before that I need to find a new Familia. So I was going to ask you if you knew of any Far Eastern exploration type Familias."

Eina began thinking when a person behind him called out to him to grab their attention albeit she stuttered continuously.

"E-excuse me, but if you are looking for a Far Eastern Familia then would you be interested in ours?"

Eina and Bell turned to see a black haired girl with violet eyes. She wore a purple kimono with red armour covering some vital areas.

"Ah, please forgive my rudeness I'm Yamato Mikoto."

Eina then turned to the confused renard to inform him more about the girl before him.

"That's great. Mikoto here is a level one adventurer of the Takemikazuchi Familia. They are a Far Eastern exploration type Familia ranked G. Though their rank is low due to their levels and numbers, they definitely have the skills to be adventurers."

The girl called Mikoto nodded before turning to look at the renard with stars in her eyes.

"What kind of God is Takemikazuchi?"

"He is a very generous and kind God, though he is a little of a natural gigolo. How-"

"I meant what is he the God of. Though knowing what you told me I can see he is a good God."

The girl turned red in embarrassment before answering.

"He is a God of War and is incredibly skilled in anything that has to do with fighting. He can teach you many different styles and techniques."

The girl was visibly nervous but was doing her best to attract a new members to join the ranks of her Familia.

"I see. But we should talk about this with your God before you invite me."

Mikoto couldn't help but follow the swishing tail for a second before she regained her bearings.

"Actually it's based on our God's request that I'm asking you to join our Familia."

The renard nodded with a thoughtful look before speaking again.

"There are still a few things that I need to know and some conditions that I have to give before I decide whether or not to join your Familia."

"I understand, then if you will please follow me then I can take you to my God right now so you can ask him anything you wish to know."

"That would be good. Well Eina, I will come back in later to inform you of my decision."

"Alright, see you later Bell."

The half elf waved at Bell as he left the Guild with the black haired girl.

Bell followed Mikoto in silence, one was admiring the city as he was new to this kind of environment while the other was too nervous to come up with something to say. Bell eventually noticed how Mikoto kept stealing glances at him but would immediately turn away when he turned to her.

"Is something the matter Mikoto?"

"Umm it's nothing."

"Oh right I haven't introduced myself. I'm Bell Yamato Katuski."

"It's nice to meet you Bell. I'm sorry, I just haven't seen a renard since leaving the Far East. Even then, I only saw and knew of one renard. We were great friends, but because of me and my selfishness we got separated by her parents and she suffered a lot. And to this day I still don't know what happened to her."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"It's fine. Ah here we are."

Bell looked forwards to see the large complex that was the house of the Takemikazuchi Familia. It was a traditional Far Eastern residence with a wooden wall surrounding the complex. The layout was no different, with a large main building, connected to other smaller buildings through connecting corridors. A garden with a small pond and a few trees surrounded the buildings.

All of the buildings were elevated off the ground by being placed on a wooden platform. They were made out of a brown oak wood and simple white stone. It was exactly as he had seen it in the pictures that Zeus had gathered over his many trips.

White banners with the Familia emblem were hanged on the walls and entrances of the residence. Like the typical Far Eastern houses, the roof used an 'Irimoya' style and unlike usual buildings that were vertical cuboids or cubical in shape, the residence was maintained at a single floor but was elongated and provided space by expanding its surface area.

Entering the compound after Mikoto, Bell took in the home with an excited look as he experienced his share of Far Eastern culture for the first time in his life. Mikoto meanwhile knocked on the door to the main hall before sliding it open where Takemikazuchi and the rest of the Familia members were currently in.

"You're back early Mikoto, I thought you wanted to go and get your gear repaired."

"Takemikazuchi-sama, I found the renard of yesterday. He was looking to join a Far Eastern Familia so I asked him to come in hopes of having him join us."

The God's expression showed surprise as the black haired girl delivered the news.

"That's great Mikoto. Did he agree to join?"

"He said he had a few questions for you as well as a few conditions he wishes to discuss with you."

"That's understandable, I suppose he's here then?"

"Yes. Bell-dono, please come in."

The renard entered the room and was met with looks of admiration by the members of the Takemikazuchi Familia.

"Good morning Takemikazuchi-sama, I'm Bell Yamato Katsuki."

"The honour is mine Bell. I haven't seen a renard in a long time. And you even share Mikoto's name."

The God laughed as Bell sat down at the table across from the God.

"Mikoto said you had questions for me. Ask away."

"Well, based on what Mikoto told me and how you act I can already tell what kind of God you are. I trust that you are a respectable God."

"I can only give you my word but I assure you that I will do my best to help you get stronger."

"Well there's only one thing I'd like to ask you. How many members are there and what are their levels?"

"I have six members, all of which are level one save for my captain who recently reached level two."

Bell brought his hand to his chin in thought before sighing.

"Then I believe it's best for me to not join."

The God sighed in defeat when a black haired men with a large build shot to his feet.

"Wait a minute! Certainly we're much weaker compared to other Familias, but I'm sure we can have most of our members reach level two by the end of this year. You might be a level three but I can assure you that we won't hold you back!"

"Ouka calm down."

The God spoke with a strict tone that made the large man sit down immediately.

"I'm sorry about him."

"It's understandable why he would act like that. It shows he cares about his Familia, though there would be better ways to show that. Besides the reason I asked is because having me join would likely make your Familia shoot up to D rank. That would require your Familia to go on an expedition as far as I am aware. And believe me, I don't wish to be rude but your Familia is not ready for an expedition to the lower floors."

Ouka soon realized that the renard was worrying for the Familia and felt terrible for believing that he was boasting about his level.

"What level are you if I may ask."

"I've been stuck at the peak of level four for a year now. Last time I updated my falna my status was all maxed. That is one of the reasons why I came to Orario, so that I could continue growing stronger."

That shocked all the members of the Takemikazuchi Familia.

"You're level four?!"

"Yes, I simply require a feat worthy enough to level me up to five now."

"That is quite the achievement."

The God looked back at his children who watched the renard with a look of admiration before turning to the God and nodding. They appreciated that he was worried for them but they didn't mind. They knew what they were getting into and still wished to have the renard join their Familia.

"Bell, we still wish for you to join our Familia. It may seem selfish but we urgently require strong people. Moreover, you are a renard it would be our greatest honour and joy to have a symbol of the Far East to join us. But more than that we would like to provide you with a family that cares for one another."

Bell looked surprised at the words of the God.

"Don't worry. We'll find a way to deal with the expedition."

The renard thought about it for a while before turning his attention back to the God before him.

"In that case I do have a few conditions."

"Name them."

The God was ready to do his best to accommodate Bell's request. It was his task as the God of the Familia that all his children were comfortable after all.

"First of all, I wish to act independently."

"What do you mean?"

"As you know most of the waitresses at the Hostess are blessed. Chloe is a member of the Njord Familia, Lunoire is a member of the Demeter Familia and Anya and Mia are members of the Freya Familia."

The God's eyebrow arched up as he heard him speak.

"Didn't know that Mia and Anya were Freya Familia members."

"They were but have partly left the Familia keeping only their blessing. Chloe and Lunoire do have blessings but act completely independent of the Familia. Other than for status update I don't think they have any connections to their Familias. I too wish to act independently, of course, after hearing what you said I will still gladly help your Familia. And since I have to go into the dungeon I am more than happy to accompany my fellow Familia members."

Hearing that reassured the adventurers and God alike.

"That is understandable. You have joined the Hostess of Fertility and wish to stay with them."

"That's correct."

"What else is there?"

"When giving me your blessing I wish to keep who my previous God was a secret. By that I mean that only me and you should know. No one else."

"Alright, everyone has their secrets. It is up to them whether or not they wish to reveal them."

"In that case I'm happy to join your Familia."

"Welcome to the Takemikazuchi Familia, Bell."

The six members of the Familia all eagerly waited outside as the God bestowed Bell with a falna. It goes without saying that the God was shocked when he saw the emblem of fist with a lightning bolt in its hands on Bell's back, even more when he saw his status. All of his skills and magic spells were powerful and unique, not only that but all of his stats had completely broken through the previously known limit of nine hundred ninety nine.

"No wonder why you want to keep this a secret. I never expected someone from that Familia to come back here."

The falna on Bell's back glowed before the black lines of Zeus' emblem disappeared. Taking its place was an emblem of a sword stuck in the ground, the emblem of the Far Eastern God of War.

"That's right. I am here to complete what my Familia failed to finish before. I will carry on the Familia's legacy and re-establish their honour and glory. I do not seek revenge but I can't allow my Familia's sacrifice to have been in vain and I will bring justice to their names."

"You want to kill the Black Dragon? Even the two great Familias at the peak of their power failed to kill it."

"I'm aware of how dangerous and difficult this task is and I have no enmity with the Black Dragon. However, slaying it is the only way to complete the three great quests and make everyone see that the Zeus and Hera Familias were the greatest Familias to have existed. To make people see and accept the errors in their way and stop them from disrespecting the heroes that protected them for a millennia."

"That's a very noble and profound goal you have Bell. Know that I will do whatever I can to support you."

"Thank you Takemikazuchi-sama."

"Just call me Take. Besides, all I can do is teach you everything I know about fighting."

"That is plenty."

"Hmm. Nothing in your status has changed, though I still can't get over how broken it is."

"It is as expected. Could you please call everyone in? There is one last thing I would like to show everyone."

The God opened the door and told everyone to enter. As everybody made their way inside and sat down, they each presented themselves.

"I'm Kashima Ouka, the captain of the Familia."

"I'm Hitachi Chigusa."

"I'm Asuka."

"I'm Arata."

"And I'm Hiroto."

"It's nice to meet you all."

Takemikazuchi then reminded Bell that he wanted to tell them something.

"Right it's about this."

Bell once again unfurled his tails showing his nine tails to the seven people in front of him. Their eyes widened to an impossible degree as they incredulously watched the renard produced a wall that blocked out the sun with his nine fluffy tails. Mikoto who always adored the story of the nine tailed fox, watched as the legend of her desires was born before her.

"A nine tailed fox?!"

"I thought it was a legend!"

The other members of the Familia were going crazy upon seeing the true form of the renard. Meanwhile the God stared in awe at his tails before taking a thinking position with his hand on his chin.

"I had heard much about the nine tailed fox by Amaterasu-sama, but I've never saw one myself. Apparently even she only saw one in the entirety of her time on Gekai. Based on records, other than the nine tailed fox that Amaterasu-sama met, there was only one other sighting from before the time that the Gods descended."

Bell's curiosity was peaked at the information and curiously turned to the God before asking his question.

"What happened to the nine tailed fox that Kami Amaterasu met?"

"I don't know, but she should be living in the castle of Yamato. The biggest and most powerful castle that there is and also the residence of the imperial family and Kami Amaterasu."

"Really?"

Everyone assisted at the adorable sight of Bell's ears shooting up as his tails energetically wagged.

"Matter of fact she should be your age. I believe she was called Shinano. I've never seen her, but apparently she has pure white hair like you but unlike your red eyes, she has bright azure eyes. Honestly I'm surprised that you aren't also living there. If a nine tailed renard was ever born then they would immediately be sent to Amaterasu-sama. That's how much she values your kind. Of course she wouldn't rob you of your family but she would request for you to live in the palace."

"Well, it is likely that I was being sent there before I somehow found myself in the river where my grampa found me."

"I see. You might have been attacked. Considering how valuable you are, then it wouldn't be unlikely that someone tried to kidnap you to gain her attention."

"Well enough of these stories. Take, do you believe that I need to keep my tails hidden?"

The children of the God were surprised to hear Bell refer to the God with such a name, but stayed silent as the God didn't seem to mind.

"Hmm … I would say that until you gain enough reputation in the city then you should keep them hidden as you have done now."

The renard nodded before turning to Mikoto.

"If it's not too much trouble could I ask you to help me find some decent equipment? I heard you also needed to repair your gear."

"O-of course. I would love to show you around."

"Mikoto remember to take him to the Guild so that he can register as an adventurer of our Familia."

"Right!"

Within minutes the two had returned to the Guild where Eina was already expecting them. Seeing the smile on Mikoto's face gave away to the Guild member the good news. With how rare renards were, coupled with his unique and over imposing features, Bell easily garnered the attention of all the people in the hall. Regardless, what attracted the attention of many was the swishing of the large fluffy tail, which Eina too couldn't help but find strangely alluring.

"Eina-san?"

The startled half elf panicked for a moment fearing she was caught staring at his tails.

"Y-yes?"

"I've come back with the news that I'm joining the Takemikazuchi Familia."

Forgetting her embarrassment Eina smiled, happy to hear that he had joined a Familia.

"That's good to hear Bell! Then I suppose you're here to register as an adventurer of the Familia?"

"Yes."

"Alright I will need you to fill in the form."

Grabbing a sheet of paper from a stack next to her, she handed it over to Bell, who immediately started filling it out. Once finished, the renard gave it back to Eina who upon reading it was shocked to find that he was level four.

"You're level four?!"

The screech made Bell flinch as his ears shot down trying to flatten themselves against his head in an attempt to block out the sound. The news was also heard by the people within and outside the Guild.

"I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to shout it."

"I-i-it's fine, it would have been made public anyways."

"More importantly you managed to reach level four outside of Orario without the dungeon?"

"Y-yes, I'm at the peak of level four and have maxed out my stats. I should be able to level up to five as soon as I find an achievement grand enough."

"Ah, however this would make the Takemikazuchi Familia rank up to D."

"I'm aware, I'll somehow take care of the expedition."

"Very well, then I will register you as a member of the Takemikazuchi Familia as well as post their rank up from an G rank Familia to a D rank Familia."

(A/N: I have no idea how the Familia ranks work. I only know that it is eligible for D once you have a level four. Since that's what happened with Bell in the canon.)

Eina began filling out the paperwork with speed that neither Bell nor Mikoto had seen before.

"Don't worry Bell. You may go on with your day. Once all this is finished and processed it will be made official and announced on the notice board."

"Thank you Eina."

Distracted by his tails and the heat of the moment, Eina forgot about telling him about the lessons he was meant to come to in order to learn about the dungeon. Level four or not, he had never been in the dungeon. Luckily for Bell and unknown to all but Takemikazuchi, Bell was a member of the Zeus Familia.

Thanks to that he had the privilege of reading the records of the Familia that Zeus had carried with him, which described and told Bell everything about the dungeon. More things than even the Guild or any other Familia knew since a lot were kept secret by the great Familias.

"Shall we get some lunch before we head to Babel?"

"That's a great idea Bell-dono, I have been starving."

Bell didn't know when or why she started calling him like that, but he made no efforts to correct her. He knew how troublesome some people were with name, titles and honorifics. Without another place in mind, the renard led her to the Hostess.

"Back so soon boy?"

"I'm here to have lunch with my Familia member. She will then take me to buy some armour and a weapon."

"Oh? What Familia did you join?"

"The Takemikazuchi Familia."

"Hmm, never heard of it before."

The black haired girl besides Bell was crestfallen when hearing how unpopular her Familia was.

"Well they were a G rank Familia."

"And I'm guessing that you shot them up to a D rank?"

"Yes. Once the request for the expedition comes I will have to ask for a four days leave."

"Don't worry about that Bell. The pub will be closed when that happens."

The renard tilted his head, curiously wondering why it would be closed. His tails and ears too shot up, reflecting his curiosity visibly.

"After all, how can I have the tavern open if I and the three over there aren't here."

Mia pointed to Lunoire, Chloe and Anya who all smiles when hearing her speak.

"You're not here either?"

Hearing the question made Mia sigh at how slow Bell could be sometimes.

"You ignoramus that's because me and the girls are coming with you on the expedition."

"Eh?! But I couldn't trouble you with that. Besides would that be allowed?"

"Nonsense boy. You're my employ and I'm not allowing you to go on such a dangerous task alone. And if no one tells the Guild, who can say anything?"

Bell blinked for a moment. Mia's arguments were sound and there was no way to really counter them. While he didn't like the idea of not telling the Guild about it, he knew that they were doing this for his sake and there was also no safer option than having three level fours and a level six accompanying you.

"Thank you Mia, Anya, Lunoire and Chloe. I'm really grateful."

Bell smiled softly as he bowed to the owner who also looked at him with a smile of her own. Anya and Chloe decided to jump on Bell for a hug, which he didn't avoid nor react violently this time earning him a satisfied smile by the two cat girls, while Lunoire just showed him a thumbs up in a show of support. Mikoto was forgotten but she didn't mind and was also glad that Bell would be safe without them.

That however, also made her feel worthless. Her weakness and inability to help and go in the dungeon with him was a hard hit to digest. It made her aware of how weak both her and her Familia was. Bell was going to support them and had already helped the Familia grow and become more powerful than she could imagine but no one in the Familia could do anything for him.

"Don't worry about it Mikoto."

The girl turned to Bell who had noticed her frown and could immediately tell why she was doing that.

"You'll grow stronger with time. I hope that you will support me in the future."

Mikoto smiled and nodded vowing on her pride as a samurai to do whatever she can to support him.

Taking the elevator, Mikoto and Bell arrived on the shopping floors owned by the Hephaestus Familia. All of the shops sold a variety of beautiful looking weapons and armour pieces. Never having seen something like that, Bell immediately started visiting all of the stores.

During their lunch, Bell had briefly went over his past with Mikoto who was curious how Bell managed to reach level four at the age of fourteen without the dungeon. She found it deeply amusing to see how different Bell was depending on the situation. Serious but thoughtful during formal meetings, goofy and excitable when experiencing something new and educated but distracted when eating food.

Even now as Bell stared at each creation of the Hephaestus Familia, his tail was energetically moving left to right and back again. It had crossed her mind many times of asking Bell if she could touch his tail, but she was aware of how beast people react to that and she didn't want to come off as rude.

"These are so expensive!"

Hearing his exclamation caused her to giggle.

"They are weapons made by the best high smiths of the Hephaestus Familia after all. These however are first class weapons, it's no wonder that you can't afford them."

"Well no, I can probably afford to buy a few from here. It's just that I've never seen such expensive weapons."

Mikoto stopped walking and turned to Bell for a moment.

"Did you say you can afford it?"

"Umm? Yes? I have a lot of money deposited at the Guild."

"H-how much?"

"Don't know, but there should be at least a billion valis or so."

Mikoto felt ready to pass out at any given moment when she heard the ludicrous amount of money that the renard possessed with him.

"Oh? A renard? Don't see one of you every day."

Being addressed caused the white haired teen to turn around. He was met with a tan woman wearing a Far Eastern style set of clothes. A red hakama with a short sleeveless white haori that stopped just above her belly button. Her hair was black while her eyes were a deep red. What made her standout was the eyepatch on her left eye. But her outfit alone was enough to gain the attention of Bell.

"Heya I'm Tsubaki Collbrande. Hope I didn't scare ya."

"I'm Bell Yamato Katuski. It's nice to meet you Tsubaki."

Mikoto in the meantime was shocked to see that he had been approached by the captain of the Hephaestus Familia.

"Ah! I-I'm M-Mikoto. It's an honour to meet you."

"No need to be nervous."

"How could I not, you are the level five captain of the Hephaestus Familia."

"Eh? She is the captain of the Hephaestus Familia? And a level five?"

Tsubaki raised an eyebrow at the question posed by the renard.

"You new to the city?"

"Yes, I arrived just yesterday. I was looking to get some second class armour and weapons to go into the dungeon."

"Oh? What level are you?"

"Level four, but I should be able to level up as soon as I achieve something worthy of the level up."

Like the many before her, she was shocked upon hearing his level.

"I'm surprised you haven't joined a Familia like the Ganesha or Loki Familia."

"Well that's mostly because I wanted to find a Far Eastern Familia. Besides I've met the members of the Takemikazuchi Familia and am more than happy with them."

A sigh escaped Mikoto's lips as she constantly worried over the fact that Bell might leave the Familia because it didn't meet his standards.

"In that case you might need a first class weapon. Say how about forming a contract with me?"

As usual Bell tilted his head in confusion while his tail swished gently behind him.

"Is that fine? You are the captain of the Familia and am sure that you have many first class adventurers contracted to you."

"Don't sweat it, I only have one and he barely ever comes to me as of lately."

"Well, in that case I suppose that's fine."

Tsubaki patted the boy on the back before attempting to drape her arm around the back of his neck to drag him to his forge. However, that resulted in an unusual reaction by Bell whose tails suddenly went rigid before slamming with half his strength Tsubaki which sent her flying.

"Ah! I'm so so sorry Tsubaki."

Everyone watched with bulging eyes as the level five captain was sent flying away by the swing of Bell's tail. Mikoto too was shocked by the scene and together with Bell rushed to Tsubaki's side.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hit you."

"Was that full force?"

"N-no, not really."

"Hahaha, in that case you pack a punch none weaker than a level five Bell."

"Umm, I'm really … sorry."

"It's fine. My bad if I did something you didn't like. I simply didn't expect you to react like that."

"The thing is that I don't mind when people touch me but for some reason whenever it gets too close, intimate or … lewd, I tend to swat people away with my tail."

"Well at least it wasn't full strength otherwise I'd say that fluffy tail of yours would have broken plenty of my bones."

Mikoto on her side was grateful that she had never given into her desires to grab his tail, otherwise, seeing how he hit Tsubaki, she would probably be a bloody stain on the ground.

"I'm sorry."

"I said it's fine Bell. Anyways follow me to my forge. We're getting too much attention here."

With a nod of both adventurers, the high smith had them follow her away from the scene. That however, was not before everyone saw the captain getting blown away and no one could get over or forget that. News would rapidly spread through the city and an orange haired elf that happened to be there also immediately scrambled to tell her superiors what she saw.

Lefiya was panting as she ran faster than ever before, stopping only before the door to the captain's office. With her breath back to normal and her grace back to its original state, she knocked on the door before opening with Finn's approval.

Inside were not only Finn and Gareth who usually always hang out together, but Riveria, Loki as well as the rest of the executives of the Familia. Despite the urgent situation, she couldn't help but quickly glance at the golden knight, Ais Wallenstein, her idol and saviour.

"Lefiya? What brings you here?"

The captain who was writing down a report looked up from his desk to look at Lefiya.

"Damn weakling just get out if all you're doing is standing there ogling at Ais."

The wolf was quickly shut up by the fists of Tiona and Tione. Before a fight could break out Lefiya got her bearings and walked up to the desk of the golden haired prum.

"Captain I have something to report. Just now I was at the tower of Babel when I happened to see Tsubaki offering to make a contract with the peculiar renard we saw at the pub yesterday."

Finn's curiosity was peaked at that, as was Gareth's.

"Hah, damn Tsubaki. I knew the moment she laid eyes on the pretty boy she would try to woo him."

"Well I was pretty interested in recruiting him. Did you ask him?"

The elf's face was blank, a clear indication that she forgot. Finn sighed but didn't mind while Bete laughed his ass off, much to her displeasure.

"I'm sorry captain. But I think he found a Familia to join and after what happened I completely forgot."

"Well the Familia part is unfortunate. We can try again see if he will convert but it's probably best to not hint to it directly, it would be rude after all. But going back to what you said, did something happen?"

"Well Tsubaki offered him a contract which he accepted however, when Tsubaki tried to wrap her arm around the renard, he reacted violently. Kind of like an elf honestly."

That shocked the others.

"And how did the renard end up? Is he okay? I mean, knowing Tsubaki she probably simply apologized for being too handsy, no?"

"Actually, the renard slammed Tsubaki away with his tails. And by that I mean she was like, sent flying away."

That caused everyone to stop a minute and compute the information given to them. Riveria was the first to recover and turn to her disciple.

"You're telling me that Tsubaki, a level five, got sent flying away by the renard?"

"Yes, I didn't mean to eavesdrop so I only heard snippets but what I did hear is that he's at the peak of level four. I'd say that the reason Tsubaki offered her services is because he could level up to five any day. After which he would need first class weapons and armour which Tsubaki wants to get the jump on."

That floored the executive members of the Loki Familia as well as the captains and the Goddess herself.

"Do you know what Familia he joined?"

"No. I don't. There was a girl with him, looked to be from the Far East. I guess she is his Familia member but I've never seen her so I can only guess that he joined a low rank Familia."

"Why the hell would he not join someone like us then?"

Bete asked with the usual snarl that made it seem as if he was permanently stuck in a fit of anger.

"Because not everyone is as dumb as you wolfy."

"The fuck did you just say to me you dumb amazon?"

Riveria on the other hand ignored the fight and looked at Ais before asking for her opinion.

"What do you think Ais?"

"Fluffy tail and ears."

Finn let out another sigh as he heard that and ordered Tione, Tiona and Bete to break up the fight.

"Anyways, see if you can find him again. Try to set up a meeting with him."

"Yes captain."

As expected of Tsubaki, her forge was a grand room. All equipment and materials were top grade and the room was fairly large for a forge. Dozens of weapons and armours were propped on shelves and benches, showing Bell and Mikoto some of the many hundreds pieces she had created.

"So, what are you looking for?"

"I wanted light armour and a long katana as a weapon."

"Hmm, alright that's doable. However, I would recommend to wait for that."

"Why is that?"

"I could make them for you right now. But you don't have any drops which would greatly enhance your armour and weapon. I'll provide you with a weapon and an armour set which are second class and I can assure you the quality. Of course I'll make you pay a very small amount for them, so that you can get your actual equipment after you've recovered some good items to make them."

"That's a good idea. Thank you Tsubaki."

"Ehehe, no problem. Now just wait a moment as I find you the armour and weapons you need."

The half dwarf started rummaging through her shelves, chests and cupboards in search of the much needed equipment. Tsubaki soon returned with a few armour pieces and a long double edged great sword. With a nudge from the smith, Bell took the pieces and began putting them on.

The armour covered his shoulders, arms, chest, legs and back. The armour looked simple and bland like the regular armour you'd expect from guards in a city but it looked sturdy and reliable, which is all armour mattered for. Grabbing the hilt of the sword, the renard began examining the sword.

Like the armour the design was simple and to the point with a regular cross guard and typical leather wrapped around the hilt. The one thing that stood out was the blue incision running down the blade from cross guard to tip.

"Sorry about the weapon. I don't have any katanas since they are difficult to make and are not commonly used. For that reason unless someone specifically orders it I don't usually make one."

"Thank you Tsubaki and don't worry, this is plenty."

"Alright, come back to me once you have the materials then. I believe you'll get them soon since you're going to be taking care of an expedition, right?"

"Yep. I'll contact you when I'm all set up."

With a bow from the two Takemikazuchi Familia members, they left the forge and headed for a shop on the higher levels of Babel where Mikoto's katana had been purchased. After visiting he shop and getting the maintenance on the weapon done, they descended the tower of Babel.

With everything that needed attention done, Bell planned to head back to the Familia home and speak briefly to the God to ask him to teach him and set a time for him to train before going back to the Hostess so that Lunoire could begin instructing him on his new job.

Just as he got off the elevating platform, he ran straight into a person. Bell was surprised by the sudden collision but was otherwise fine. The other person though felt like smashing into a brick wall and had fallen back on their butt.

"I'm sorry about that. Are you okay?"

Bell looked down and extended his hand to an orange haired elf, which is when he was reminded that elves didn't normally like having physical contact. Or so he thought when the girl below him grabbed his hand and with a blush on her face pulled herself up.

"I-I'm sorry I wasn't looking where I was going."

The girl was embarrassed to have made such a blunder and it would have damaged her pride if she didn't apologize. Though upon seeing the renard look down at her whilst extending his hand had left a deep impression on the girl.

While Lefiya wasn't as strict as other elves when it came to physical contact, she still wouldn't go around accepting stranger's hands. Seeing who it was however she couldn't help but feel like it would be fine, besides, while she wouldn't admit it, the warmth of his hand felt really nice.

'His hand is so warm.'

A blush crept on her face as she realised that she was having a lewd thought about a stranger. And it was even more embarrassing to see that the renard was looking at her with worry. That's when she also remembered that she had to set up a meeting with him and the captain.

"U-umm, s-sorry about that."

"It's fine, just be careful."

The smile made Lefiya pause for a moment before she regained control.

"If it's not a problem, the captain of my Familia would like to meet you."

"What for?"

"He just wanted to meet you, he is curious about you. That's all."

Mikoto was shocked as she recognized who the person was and hearing that the captain wanted to meet Bell worried the Far Eastern girl. There was no doubt that he wanted to try and recruit Bell.

"I see. But I'm sorry. As of now I'm extremely busy and have to prepare for many things. Perhaps in the future when I'm not under such time constraints."

"I-I understand. I will tell him that you were busy."

"Alright. Thank you, umm."

"O-oh right. My name is Lefiya Viridis."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Bell Yamato Katsuki."

With their short introductions done, they spent a little time chatting before parting ways as they each went back to their Familia home.

"Don't worry Mikoto I won't leave the Takemikazuchi Familia."

The black haired girl couldn't help but blush as her worries were apparently visible to the renard.

"I'm sorry to trouble you like that. And … thank you … for staying with us."

"So he won't meet us?"

"It's not that. He said that he was very busy and couldn't spare the time to meet us. Please don't misunderstand him. He's a very nice guy."

"Oh? You spoke to him?"

The high elf looked at her with a raised eyebrow. Lefiya was known to be kind and cheerful but also quite reserved. To hear her speaking well of someone and act so defensively was surprising for the teacher.

"Yes. We spoke briefly and he is very polite and kind. He was quite funny though a little too honest."

"Why is that?"

"At a certain point he commented on how I was quite cute … a-and I was shocked when he said that with a straight face but he said that he just liked to be honest and open about his thoughts. Unless particularly rude, or so he said."

"Ahahaha!"

The dwarf began laughing out loud as he slapped his belly.

"I like the lad."

Finn nodded, supporting Gareth's idea.

"Well I understand, he probably just promoted a Familia to D rank. He's probably making preparations for an expedition."

"So what do we do now?"

Turning to the high elf that posed the question he shrugged.

"We wait. There is plenty of time and I'm sure that he'll be fine. Mia wouldn't let her employee go down there without being sure that he is safe anyways."

Bell had spoken about training with Takemikazuchi, who was more than happy to teach him everything there was to learn about the art of combat. The God also mentally prepared for the day he would receive the expedition quest, which was bound to be soon enough. Not that any of his lower levelled members would go.

Bell had explained how he was going to go with Mia and three other level fours, which greatly reassured the Far Eastern God. With all of that out of the way, Bell quickly excused himself, saying he had to report to Mia lest she skinned him. With a quick goodbye to the members of his Familia the renard took off towards the Hostess of Fertility, arriving in less than twn minutes thanks to his level four speed.

"About time boy."

"Sorry Mia, it took longer than I had initially thought."

"Move it, Lunoire and May will show you the ropes."

And so, the next hours were spent under the supervision of Mia, May and Lunoire as he was tasked with different jobs. It was surprising to all three when they discovered that Bell was more than adept at all the jobs, from cleaning to cooking. May even added that with enough practice he'd probably be able to become a cook no worse than she or Mia are.

"Call me shocked. You've got a knack for this."

"Well, I have a little experience in this field. Cooking was what I was best at back at home."

"Not bad, truly not bad. Today you'll be spending the first shift serving, the second cooking. Now comes the best part."

The grin on Mia's face made sent a shiver down Bell's back, his tail and ears too showed Bell's fear as they shot up. He was slowly backing away when he had to stop as his back bumped into Anya. Noticing that he was surrounded on all sides by the girls of the pub he resigned himself to whatever fate awaited him.

Bell was stripped of his armour and clothes before outfitted with Mia's new uniform for him. Unlike the green maid like uniform that the girls wore, Bell found himself in what was practically a butler's uniform. The shirt was white while his vest and pants were the same green of the waitresses dress.

"Hahaha, you scrub up real good kid."

Bell pouted as he tried to cover himself up with his tail before Syr came to him with a bright smile.

"You look charming Bell-san."

"Don't tease me Syr-san."

The waitresses all giggled at the cute renard in front of them.

"Ugh, please don't tell me I have to work with this on?"

"You sure do kid. Ya can only take it off once you go to the kitchen."

His tail and ears all drooped down as his eyes glared at the people who were having fun at his expense.

The night was as lively as always and most of the pub was filled with adventurers spending the money they earned in the dungeon. Loki Familia as usual was already sat their table, Ganesha was also present as they were there to celebrate the level up of their vice-captain Ardee, who just reached level six. There also happened to be other Familia groups such as Soma and Apollo Familia though they weren't well liked and kept themselves to a corner.

That's when yet another influential Familia that had gained fame and became popular amongst the people entered. A Familia composed of only female members who upheld justice together with Ganesha. The Astraea Familia.

"Oh look everyone is already here, even Loki Familia is here. Just in time to show off my beauty to everyone."

"Shut the hell up Alise. You keep flaunting yet never land a man."

"That's because I'm too good dear Kaguya."

"Or maybe it's just because everyone thinks you're impossible to deal with."

"Hey how rude!"

"Now, now ladies. We're here to celebrate Ardee's level up. She is the first member of the Ganesha Familia to reach level six."

Alise's attention immediately switched from her vice-captain to her Goddess.

"True. Now other than me, Kaguya, Mia, Finn, Riveria, Gareth and the Freya executives there is one more level six."

That's when a blonde elf entered the conversation, not liking to be left out.

"I'm sure that I and Lyra will soon reach level six as well."

"Oh little Lion, you still have a long way to go if you think you can reach my level. Oh! Look! A fluffy tail!"

Everyone's attention that was fixed on Alise, as she was very noisy, was suddenly moved to Bell who was cleaning a table. Alise showed her carefree attitude as she skipped her way over and opened her arms to embrace the fluffy tail that was swishing right and left.

This drew a jealous look by many including a blonde knight who pouted as she had been denied to hug the tail by a high elven mother figure. Though at the same time this also worried Anya, Syr, Lunoire and Chloe as they knew well how Bell could react.

Finn, Gareth and Riveria, knowing what happened in the pub the day before as well as the situation with Tsubaki, wondered how this would go down while Mia simply smiled. In Mia's mind there was no doubt that no matter what happened Bell was bound to draw in a lot of customers from now.

"Ah, Alise-chan, I wouldn't do that!"

Syr's warning went unheard as she jumped on the renard only to receive the fluffy tail to the face. As soft as it was, the impact was so strong that even such a soft texture hurt and as a result her body was graciously sent flying back the way she came.

"Ow!"

The red haired captain crashed with her back on the wooden floor. Everyone else looked shocked as the level six captain of the Astraea Familia was sent flying by the renard's tail.

"I'm sorry! Are you okay?"

Alise looked up and her green eyes locked with those of the renard. To Alise the world seemed to stop as an unexplainable feeling took over. She was entranced, completely lost in his eyes and face. Everything around her seemed to fade as only Bell was visible. She didn't know what it was, but she did know that it was overpowering and it caused a blush to make its way to her face while her heartbeat quickly became faster.

It was a weird feeling but used all her will power to push it back and get up. But seeing the cute tilt of his head with his twitching ears and swishing tail made Alise forget what happened as she all but jumped on him again with a squeal.

"You're so adorable!"

Bell's shocked face lasted a second before his fist departed, smashing into Alise's chest plate and sending her flying out of the pub. Everyone followed the flying body with their eyes until it left the building before Bell began apologizing again.

"Ah! I'm so sorry!"

"Oh don't worry about the idiot. She should know better than to just try and grab a renard's tail like that."

Kaguya looked at the captain getting up before turning to Bell. She too was interested in the rumoured renard as she was from the Far East. As someone from that country, she greatly respected the renard race. That's also when Astraea noticed his familiar clothes and turned to Mia with a questioning look.

"Well I suppose this is as good as a time as it gets. Yesterday some of you heard about how I'd employ Bell. So today I'm here to officially announce that Bell is our newest member here."

That shocked everyone who hadn't already heard the news the day before. Particularly caught off guard by this was the Astraea Familia who hadn't the slightest clue that this had happened.

"You're employing a boy?"

"Yea. I decided to change the rule slightly. Just for him. How about you? Ever going to change your rule?"

"Who knows. Maybe if he is willing to join my Familia? He just arrived in Orario did he not?"

The renard however shook his head which made Kaguya pout slightly.

"I'm sorry Astraea-sama. I already joined Takemikazuchi-sama."

"Ah, you joined Takemikazuchi. He is a good guy. Do treat him well and help his Familia get stronger. He deserves better than what he gets right now. Particularly by other Gods."

"I will."

"A'ight get moving Bell. The orders won't carry themselves over on their own."

"Yes Mama Mia."

With that the renard left just as Alise joined back with the group, still rubbing the sore spot where Bell had hit her.

"Damn he hits hard. I thought he was going to break my chest plate. What level is he Mia?"

"Four."

"Really, I thought he punched like a level five."

"Who knows? He probably maxed out his strength stat every level up."

"That would explain why he's so strong."

Astraea turned to look at Mia as she too found Bell interesting.

"What's his name?"

"Bell Yamato Katsuki."

"A worthy person."

A grin grew on the red head's face until it was wiped away by Mia's scoff.

"Don't even think about harassing my employ Alise. As you can see he can already slap you away, but if you try anything I'll be the one kicking your ass."

That was enough to send a shiver down her spine which made her back out from trying anything. With that out of the way, the Astraea Familia proceeded to sit at the same table of the Ganesha and Loki Familia. Unfortunately for Alise, she was met with laughter and teasing as soon as she sat down causing her to pout.

"I can't help it. Look at how adorable he is. And his tail. It looks so soft."

The Goddess of justice sighed with a shake of her head.

"That doesn't mean that you can simply go and touch his tail. You do realize that touching his tail or ears is meant to be very intimate."

"Then I'll be his big sister."

"I meant romantically."

"Then I'll marry him."

That caused everyone to stop what they were doing and turn to Alise with raised eyebrows and unamused eyes.

"What? I can do that no?"

"Shut it Alise. Forget trying anything and stop disturbing everyone here."

"Mou. You're so not fun. But I still plan on marrying him."

The people around her just sighed seeing the usual cheery smile on Alise's face.

The renard skilfully served the patrons, which he noticed to all be females. It goes without saying that it was Mia plan to have the mostly female groups to sit in Bell's area of service. And it was successful as the customers all seemed happy and satisfied. The problems only started when Mikoto entered with a letter in her hand.

"Mia-sama. Is Bell here?"

"How many times do I have to say it. Just Mia or Mama Mia. Anyways, he's on duty right now, what's the matter?"

"The expedition request by the Guild has just arrived."

The girl presented the letter with both hands to Mia.

"I see. Just leave it here. Once he's done I'll tell him. When is he meant to go?"

"Next week at the very latest."

"Okay, then that's one week for him to train. What are you going to do?"

Mikoto took a moment to think before answering.

"We'll teach Bell everything we can about fighting, tactics and strategies, since his status is apparently maxed out and we can't help him on the expedition."

"Good. Then me and the girls here will test his combat skills as well as his dungeon knowledge."

The Far Eastern girl nodded and was about to leave but trouble had just started ever since her entry.

"Hey you."

Mikoto turned around to barely spot a small pallum with light brown hair looking up to her.

"The renard there is in your Familia no? How about you hand him over?"

Mikoto took a moment to register what he said before her bewildered gaze glared at the little pallum.

"What? Absolutely not and he is not an object that can just be handed over."

"I'm sure he'd be more than happy to hear that esteemed Apollo-sama has taken an interest in him. It would be his honour to join a prestigious Familia like this one. You are unworthy of a level four like him."

Mia scoffed with more aggressiveness than usual.

"As if you're any better. You don't have a level four yourselves. Only a level three captain."

"This is none of your business Mia."

The look on Mia's face quickly turned dangerous making both Mikoto and the pallum to take a step back from the spot they were standing upon.

"It is, since you're trying to snatch my employee."

Mikoto however, wasn't any better and she wasn't as restrained when it came to handling her emotions and was rapidly getting angrier.

"How dare you! Bell-dono isn't someone as honourless as you. If he truly was going to leave for a better Familia he'd already have joined the Loki Familia."

Everyone's attention was now on the two Familia representatives as they all heard the outburst of the black haired girl. It also drew the attention of the renard in question who approached Mikoto and he tapped her shoulder with his finger.

"Bell-dono?"

"What's the matter?"

"It's nothing. This pallum was trying to convince to hand you over to the Apollo Familia."

"I see. Well I have no interest in joining a dark Familia like yours."

That caused everyone to turn to the pallum, particularly the Ganesha and Astraea Familia as they heard him call them a dark Familia.

"What are you talking about. How d-dare you insult our Familia."

"Everyone knows that you stalk and force people to join through terrible methods. What most don't know however is the extent you go to. Threatening their families with death. Razing villages and storming towns. The list just goes on."

This caused everyone to gasp. It was well known what Apollo would do and how persistent he was. But it was never clear how far he'd go to get someone.

"Honestly, it's disappointing that a Familia like yours is allowed to exist."

Albeit not being directed to the Ganesha and Astraea Familias, they could feel their pride take a blow as it was their jobs to protect people from this kind of cruel injustice.

"It was even more surprising to learn of your dealings with Evilus and the likes though."

That caused the Astraea, Loki and Ganesha Familias to glare at the poor little prum before the Apollo captain shot up from his seat.

"That is nonsense!"

"Why would you be so agitated if it wasn't true?"

"You have no proof."

"True, but you wouldn't have proof if in the dead of the night someone was to wipe out your Familia. It would truly be unfortunate."

The simple smile on Bell's face didn't match the fierce fire in his eyes sent a shiver down everyone's spine.

"Not only you but Soma and Ishtar, even got some people inside the Guild sprinkled here and there. But let's not forget about a certain hated pig. I really do look forward to see what fate awaits the likes of you worthless souls who know only of murder and corruption."

Silence permeated the area as the atmosphere grew tense before the renard tilted his head and the slight smile on his face became larger, making him all the more terrifying in the eyes of the people in the pub.

"Do you deny all of this Phoebus Apollo?"

"Of course I do."

"You had no dealings with Evilus?"

"No!"

"That's a lie, huh."

Everything fell quiet as every head turned to the table where Ganesha, Astraea and Loki were sat at.

"The three of us can tell you now. You. Are. Lying."

It was just then that the captain of the Apollo Familia realized he was tricked and turned his furious eyes to Bell.

"You planned all of this?"

"I wonder. You must be really silly to lie in front of a God. But who am I kidding, you're a mindless dog who blindly follows the orders of the God he is madly in love with. You know, there once was a person who said that sometimes love is blind. I always doubted that … but oh how true it turned out to be."

Mia and Mikoto were surprised to see this side of Bell, as he spoke with a distant smile, despite only having known him for two days they hadn't expected the kind and innocent Renard to be so devious and observant but also merciless and frightening. It was a new insight to Bell's personality which terrified Mikoto and sent a shiver down Mia's back.

"You!"

Hyakinthos unsheathed his flamberge and charged at Bell. Seeing that everyone moved to intercept but it was unneeded as Bell caught the red blade with his hand. Tightening slightly his grip, the blade visibly cracked until it shattered. Hyakinthos was shocked but had no time to react before a punch knocked him out.

The other members of the Apollo and Soma Familias got up to fight back but before Loki, Ganesha and Astraea Familia could act, Bell dashed at them and knocked them all out. Everyone watched incredulous at the renard's speed as he easily defeated the level ones and twos of the two Familias.

"Well, this has been quite the night."

Mia scratched her head as she watched the knocked out bodies of the Apollo Familia.

"Sorry Mia, I didn't mean to cause a commotion."

The white haired renard looked apologetically to the owner who just shrugged.

"Mah, just forget this happened and get back to work."

"Yes Mama Mia."

With a bright smile the renard acted as if none of this ever happened while the members of the Ganesha, Astraea and Loki Familia all turned to stare at Alise who was unresponsive. The red haired girl had hearts in her eyes and a slight blush that covered her face. Her eyes trailed the figure of the white haired boy, never leaving the sight of the renard for even a second.

"Umm … Alise?"

The Goddess of justice called out to her captain but received no response. It wasn't until Kaguya poked her in the side that her mind returned to earth.

"He's perfect."

She spoke with a dreamy voice and a smile that slowly but surely was making its way on her face.

"What are you talking about?"

"The renard. He is just perfect."

"His name is Bell Yamato Katuski apparently."

Finn spoke not knowing if she heard him while many eyebrows arched up as the girl seemed entranced with the renard.

"Astraea … I think the renard has just swept our captain off her feet."

"That he did, Kaguya."

Alise was suddenly back to normal and with a serious face she turned to her Goddess.

"Kami-sama."

"U-uh, y-yes Alise?"

"I was unsure before but I know now. What I felt before was love at first sight. May I get your blessing to date Bell?"

Everyone at the table fell silent. There was no doubt, she wasn't joking. This time she was serious about getting in a relationship with the renard.

"Alise. Shouldn't you get to know him better?"

The one to question her decision was a jade haired elf of the Loki Familia. She wasn't a mother figure for only the Loki Familia but also the closely tied Familias like the Ganesha and Astraea Familia.

"That's why I want to date him. Initially I was joking about marrying him but now."

Alise's face was once again covered with a blush and a dreamy smile as she remembered the various personalities that Bell showed and the way he took care of the Apollo and Soma Familia.

"The way he has an almost mischievous side to him yet he is normally so kind and gentle."

Astraea looked closely at Alise and as she did, she became sure of one thing. She was smitten with the white haired renard.

"Ehehe. And his tail and years. His cute little face. Ehehe. He's perfect, he's too good."

It was as creepy as it was cute to see Alise acting like that and as good friends, Astraea and her Familia would support her decision. It didn't look like she would accept a no either way.

"Alright Alise. If you're sure about that go on."

"But don't come complaining to us if he rejects you."

Kaguya interjected as the red haired girl got up from her seat.

"Finn. Am I dreaming or is she is actually serious about this?"

"I'm as surprised as you are Gareth. I didn't think I'd live the day to see Alise of all people fall in love with someone."

Lyra and Ryuu were also having a similar conversation as the two seniors of the Loki Familia.

"Never expected that of Alise."

"Yes, me neither."

"I also didn't know that Alise was into those kind of guys."

"What do you mean Lyra?"

"You heard her, kind and gentle yet mischievous."

The blonde elf blushed a little as she was reminded of Alise's words.

"She certainly has an interesting taste."

"She does, but she knows how to choose a man. Gotta give her that."

Astraea on her side, not wanting Alise to get in trouble went to speak with Mia.

"Say Mia. I know that you told Alise not to mess with Bell. But … what if she is serious about Bell?"

The owner of the Hostess of Fertility was cleaning a set of mugs when the Goddess suddenly brought up such an unusual question. Her brow arched up but her hand never stopped cleaning the mug.

"Are you shitting me Astraea?"

It had caught her off guard so much that the large dwarfess genuinely didn't know whether or not she was playing a prank on her. Her head turned to look at Astraea with a shocked look.

"Um, no. It seems like Alise has a serious crush on him. I was wondering if it would be a problem?"

"I said what I said before because I didn't want her to mess with him. But if it's a committed relationship that is none of my business but his alone. But are you really serious?"

Astraea didn't respond, only pointing her finger to the figure of Alise approaching Bell. Mia finally stopped cleaning the mugs and leaned on the counter wanting to see how this would end up.

"Bell Yamato Katsuki."

The renard's ears twitched as he heard his name being called before turning around and seeing Alise. Internally he worried if he did something wrong as Alise wore a serious face.

"Yes?"

There was a moment of tense silence as Alise gathered her courage. As soon as she did, she bowed ninety degrees and extended her hand to him.

"Will you go on a date with me?!"
