To exist, to be. That was a rather strange state for them.

One moment they didn't exist and the next one they do. What was that? Why was that? They knew not the answer but they were curious, almost like children, almost. But, children they were not, or at weary least nobody would ever refer to them as such. They saw the others, there were seven of them in total, and reached out.

They felt a kinship with each other, they felt unity with each other, but they also felt discord. They were the same, but yet too different. On their own, they would never reach unity. Perhaps such a thing is impossible? Confused were those beings, but their confusion wasn't answered.

They observed their surroundings and soon found other creatures near them. These were different though, and they couldn't feel any form of kinship with them. Yes, those weird creatures near them felt strange and foreign, but to them everything was foreign. But, while the creatures themselves didn't evoke any sort of familiarity something around them did. The beings registered some sort of connection, a link of a kind to something else. That link was stronger in some compared to the others, but never the less it existed in all of them.

What they saw at the end created some sort of relief amongst the seven beings, for what they found also gave them a sense of kinship. Granted the thing was larger than any one of them, and also felt somewhat foreign. Yes, while it did give them a feeling of comradery, it also gave them a feeling of difference in a way. There were the same, but also different. The recently create entities cared little for that, they were curious, they were new to this thing called existence and they wanted answers.

But the thing didn't want to indulge them, moment it senses the seven of them It attacked them. Our eldritch friends knew not what an attack was, they knew not what harm was. That being said they could sense that the being wanted to unmake them, to stop them from existing. But they wouldn't stand for that, they want to exist, they want answers, and if this, like kin of theirs, doesn't want to provide them, then they will find it elsewhere.

So the seven of them returned where they started, they observed the creatures present. These creatures were, after all, present when they started existing, and they seemed to react to that. So, perhaps they held their answers? So the beings looked into the creature's mind, looked into the creature's hearts, and finally got their answers. Yes, these creatures were their creators.

Creations? They were creations then. Strange thing was to create, perhaps they also could create one day, but that didn't matter at the moment. What did matter was the answer to their questions.

They are power

They are might

They were the enemies of the world

From their creators, they had learned that the being that attacked them was called Od Laguna and that it governed this world. In addition to that, they learned that their existence was an imitation of Od Laguna. They existed so their creators could harness the power of the world themselves.

This explained a lot to them. Their mutual feeling of kinship was due to the fact that they were created together. Their simultaneous feeling of comradery and difference from the being that ruled over the world was due to the fact that they were in essence, the same being. Granted they were artificial, were ass their counterpart, presumably, wasn't.

But the answers brought forth many more questions. If Od Laguna and they were functionally the same. Then why did it attack them when they tried to connect. That made no sense to the seven beings, they were equally powerful, they were the same in principle, and they were most likely the closest thing to it that exist in this world. So why choose violence?

Was It perhaps too Slothful to deal with somebody like it?

Was It perhaps too Lustful for control, so it feared to share any?

Was it perhaps to Gluttonous to its creations, so it didn't want anybody to potentially influence them?

Was it perhaps too Greedy for power, so it refused to share any?

Was it perhaps too Wrathful in regards to the situation, so it responded with violence?

Was it perhaps too Prideful, so it refused to admit that it was bested?

Was it perhaps too Envious, so it refused to admit it wasn't the only one?

The answers to these questions, like too many others, they didn't know. All of this confused and in a way hurt them, but they reasoned that in the end, it didn't matter. If this being doesn't want them to interfere then so be it. They will be at their corner of the world and it can be at its.

The seven beings inevitably had to break up, they were kin, but their differences threatened to destroy them all. It wasn't a particularly desired decision by any one of them, but ultimately it had to be done.

So they scattered around the world, they explored, and they witnessed the events that the creatures of this existence made. Through their exploration they discovered that this world's governor wasn't the most keen on equality, After all, it aided some people in favor of others. To some people, it granted useful powers, to some powers that were, almost like a joke, useless if not detrimental. But to most it granted nothing, it let them exist in this world with no meaning.

Such freedom was it seems appreciated by the world's denizens, and they used it to shape their existence how they see fit, but there were some that Od Laguna seemingly hated. Beings that it, for some reason, absolutely despised and left to rot.

Every one of the eldritch beings noticed these people, and sooner or later they all came to the same conclusion.

"If our enemy hates them so much, then why don't we take them?"

Such thinking was defended by simple logic. After all, if their enemy doesn't want them then it isn't an infringement on their desire to stay out of each other's way. In addition, all of them feel a need to take residence in a soul of a living being, not any but an intelligent one. They seemed to be most comforted when the person possessed certain beliefs and ideas, so beings that can't formulate a coherent thought weren't useful to them.

Apparently, such beings are referred to as parasites, but they preferred the term symbiot. For they didn't just invade a person's soul and call it a day. No, they would give them the ability to reach their greatest desires, to achieve their dreams, and all they have to do is to let them stay in their soul. The deal was perfect, not only do they get a feeling of comfort in exchange for a small use of their power here and there, but every time their host used their newly acquired gift their soul became an even better place to reside.

Nevertheless, no good deed remains unpunished, so neither did theirs. Their hosts would all die sooner or later and their souls, the home for these entities, would be taken by Od Laguna. This Greedy behavior wasn't lost by the beings, but in the end, they just chose to take a new host. There were many people hated by their enemy so there was no shortage of potential hosts.

Truth be told, the eldritch beings could even be described as picky. They didn't take anybody, just the people who prove to be most comfortable, although the process of proving one's worth wasn't long. On the contrary, it was quite short, for the beings could see into one's heart and choose if they are compatible.

So they took new hosts when the old ones died, and continued with their existence that way. The system was somewhat inconvenient, but it didn't matter too much to them. What did were the simple truths.

They are power

They are might

They are the rivals of the world

Time passed and the beings adjusted to their existence. They didn't particularly like the arrangement, but they got used to it. Every one of them had many hosts, and over time they were even given names.

They were referred to by the world's denizens by the names of the seven cardinal sins. The witch genes, the other name they were given, didn't particularly understand this naming convention. After all, they merely took hosts that fitted them best and in return gave them powers. There were no emotions, no beliefs, intervened in this process.

But, it mattered little in the end. Their hosts are free to call them what they want as long as they remain comfortable to remain in. Such were the things until they came in contact with a certain boy.

Yes, that boy killed all of their hosts. Something that is quite impressive, but not that strange. But what made him different was the fact that he was compatible with all of them. Such things did happen before, but at no time did any individual become a host to all of them. That is until that boy came.

There was something unique about him when compared to their previous hosts. While, like them, he was disliked by the world, this dislike was different. Their previous hosts were simply hated, disliked for existing. Unlike them, the boy was treated more like a foreign object, like something that isn't supposed to exist, like something unnatural to this world. In that regard, he was identical to the witch genes, who were treated by the world in the same way since they started existing.

They gave him powers that he most desired, just like they did with every other host, and continued with their existence. Strangely the boy didn't seem to care for the powers given and, bearing one, never used them unless necessary.

That behavior of his impacted their existence minimally, which is something that the witch genes didn't complain about. What mattered to them was the fact that they were all together. For the first time since they started existing, they can be together without discord breaking them apart, they can all exist together in something resembling peace.

Yes, for the first time in their existence the eldritch beings were fully content. The boy interacted with the creatures of this existence and they interacted with themselves.

They felt no need to interact with Od Laguna anymore, and they cared not for that enemy of theirs. That being can have the entire world, doesn't matter to them. It is free to take the world as long as it leaves this peace of it to them.

They are power

They are might

They were at peace with the world

Confusion, just like when they were created they felt confusion.

Their host had reached a state where he stopped breathing and his heart stopped working, death they believe this state is called.

That on its own wasn't particularly strange, the boy had often reached such a stage, but what was concerning was the fact that they were unable to undo this state.

The only explanation for this would be that the boy didn't desire to return. But why? Why would he want that? Why desire such a thing? They were confused and they needed answers. So they were determined to get them.

For the first time since their creation, the witch genes observed the puny material world. They didn't care for that part of existence, they are greater than that, but the boy exists on it so it is the place where they can get their answers.

As they looked around they saw a large group of people, all dressed in what the inhabitance of this world would consider elegant. Some of these people were recognized by the entities, most notably Emilia, Julius, and Reinhard. For some reason, the creature known as Emilia and the creature known as Julius were standing side by side. In addition, the Emilia was wearing a white clothing article of a sort, a dress they believe it is called. The Julius beside her was also wearing a stylish piece of clothing, although different than Emilia's, quite a strange difference.

But, the entities had no time to entertain differences between men's and women's fashion, they had more important things to worry about. They looked at Reinhard, a man they were most familiar with. While the witch genes cared not about the people in this world, baring their hosts, they did take interest in Reinhard, although that interest was far from being one of the admirers. On the contrary, they were interested in him due to the fact that he was Od Laguna's main toy. The attack dog It used in order to limit witch genes and their influence. The eldritch entities were sure that the Reinhard was created to combat their hosts, in order to limit them. So why was he here?

The structure they were in was constructed with stone, it had a high roof, lots of stained windows, and was illuminated by the light coming from them. While the entities weren't the most knowledgeable when it came to this creature's religious tendencies, they were still quite convinced that this was a place of worship of some sort. But of What?

What could possibly these puny things worship? There aren't many beings that can be considered godlike, at least not in the way that their most favorite host would imagine. So what could they worship? The closest thing to gods in this world are them and Od Laguna.

This entire process took a microsecond. Yes from the moment they started observing to the moment they had figured out the answer only a microsecond passed.

All three of the people mentioned are quite liked by their enemy, and this place can only serve to worship that same enemy. The answer was clear Od Laguna used its lackeys to kill their favorite host. Those lakes were not random people, the reason that the witch genes recognized them was the fact that these people were favored a lot by their host, especially the Emilia. Although his feelings for here were recently mixed with ones of hurt and pain. Did she have anything to do with his death? Most certainly, that is the reason why he doesn't want to return anymore. Just like Od Laguna wanted it.

Yes, their enemy used these tools of his in order to murder their host in such a way that they couldn't do anything about it.

From the moment they started existing Od Laguna hated them. From the moment they wanted to communicate, it tried to destroy them. Every time they tried to make a comfortable existence for themselves, the overlord of the world would take it all from them. It would take the souls of their host and leave them without a place to be. When they finally found peace in this wretched world Od Laguna saw fit to take that away as well.

But this time things will not be the same, this time they won't let that happen, and that is exactly what they did.

The which genes started corrupting mana as fast as possible, taking it for themselves as fast as possible, and in an instant, all man in the area of the Royal Capital was turned into miasma. Without mana and due to their presence Od Laguna has absolutely no control over this area, this domain of his world is now theirs to govern.

This is the first time that the witch genes challenged Od Laguna's right to rule, and the consequence of that can be clearly seen. Large earthquakes and deadly storms were brewing in the borders of their newly taken domain. The Od Laguna wasn't happy, but it didn't matter anymore. The witch genes got their answers.

It was too Slothful to reach a compromise.

It was too Lustful for control, so it feared to share any.

It was too Gluttonous for souls, so it didn't want anybody to have them.

It was too Greedy for power, so it refused to share any.

It was too Wrathful in regards to the situation, so it responded with violence.

It was too Prideful, so it refused to admit that it was the weaker.

It was too Envious of their power, so it refused to leave them alone.

Their challenge wasn't just a sign of Wrath, it was also practical. If they deny Od Laguna this area of the world, then they make it impossible for it to take the boy's soul. That being said, there is no guarantee that they didn't do it too late, but this was the only way.

But this action won't solve the problem of their host not wanting to return to the world, but what they will do next will. Their host, just like them, was greatly mistreated by the world. So there is no reason for him to dislike a change in management, especially when he witnesses the results.

They are stronger than Od Laguna, they knew that. So they will destroy it, and take control of the world from it. Once that is done they will destroy this world and make one anew, make one where their host will like to live, one where all of his favorite creatures will be. And then the witch genes will finally be happy.

From the moment they started existing they were shunned by the closest thing they had to themselves. Their curious questions were met with violence, their attempts at finding their place in the world by failure. At every moment Od Laguna tried to end their existence, but now they will not stand for it. There are more powerful and they know it, and they also know simple facts.

They are power.

They are might.

They will be the world.
