It was a nice day. The sun was shining. There was just enough cloud cover in the sky to give small respites of shade. It was just cool enough you could feel summer slipping into fall. It was a nice day. Was being the key word.
Ginny Potter had a cup of tea in one hand and was rubbing her temples with the other. With a sigh of one who has long suffered she looked up at the cause of this morning's decline.
First was her husband, Harry Potter, on his broom. "Hoot" and there was the second irritant. Her husband's owl. It had taken a while, but he eventually got over his loss of Hedwig and found a new familiar. "No Hoot, I promise I'm not trying to replace you." She still couldn't believe he had named his owl Hoot.
At this point she decided to sit down. Once she was finally settled their dog and one of their kneazles strolled over looking for some attention. Giving the dog a quick scratch behind the ears she allowed the kneazle into her lap.
"I SAID NO! NO MORE PETS YOU DEMON CHILDREN."
There he goes again, this time followed by three blurs decreasing in size. All chanting the same thing, almost like a ritual.
"AN-I-MALS. AN-I-MALS. AN-I-MALS."
Her next three headaches have made their appearance. James Sirius, Albus Severus, Lily Luna. The loves of her life, the light of her eyes, the reason for the grey hair she found this morning. She should've never let Harry take them to Diagon Alley. She knew he wouldn't be able to resist the menagerie.
"RETURN TO WHENCE YOU CAME!"
"AN-I-MALS. AN-I-MALS. AN-I-MALS."
"HOOT"
*pop pop*
"Took them to the menagerie again didn't he?"
Ginny just continued petting the dog and nodded at her sister-in-law and brother. Just another day in the life of the Potter family.
