Philip, Camila, and Luz looked at the two girls in front of them. Camila had Philip go get clothes for the girls and some of Luz and Vee's clothes seem to fit. Not surprising since they looked to be about the same age as Luz and Vee. The girl with purple and brown hair was wearing skinny jeans and a purple shirt, while the other one had a yellow shirt and some of Vee's sweatpants, along with a beanie to cover her third eye. Philip was the first one to speak up.
"So, this has clearly been a crazy day, so how about we talk about what we've seen?" He asked.
"Dad, I watched two MERMAIDS, grow legs!" Luz said, "I don't think there's anything else we need to talk about!"
"No, there is something we need to talk about." Camila said, "They nearly had panic attacks when they saw their legs, which means either they didn't know they could do that, or they're afraid of what might happen if they have them."
The girls closed their eyes, not wanting to even think about their legs.
"Listen, maybe when they're fully healed, we can take them to the ocean and try and find their family-"
"NO!"
Everyone was surprised. They didn't know the mermaids were able to speak English.
"P-p-please... don't." The three eyed girl said, "She... she can never find out about this."
"Who?" Luz asked.
"My... my mom." The other girl said, "She... she says that we must never dry out, we must never use legs like Non-Scales. She... she despises Non-Scales. If she finds out about this... we're in massive trouble."
"What's so bad about her?" Luz asked, "Why does she make you so scared?"
The two girls looked nervous.
"She's... the queen of Merpeople. She's strict, and dangerous." The purple haired one said, "Many have tried to overthrow her, but she's too powerful."
"If you lose to her... you become her next meal." The three eyed one said, "If she finds out about this, we'll be devoured for sure. Please, please don't bring us back there!"
The two mermaids held each other at the thought of it.
"Don't worry, I won't let that happen." Luz said, "I'll protect you."
Luz didn't know why, but she wanted to make sure these two were safe, and if that queen wanted to eat them, then she would have to get through Luz. Camila and Philip watched their oldest with pride, this is what they thought was Luz's greatest quality, her need to protect others, even if she barely knows them. They would stand behind her on this, they would protect these two.
"Alright, why don't we bring them to our house?" Philp said.
"I think that's a great idea, we should get them out of here before they draw attention." Camila said.
The family got ready to leave, while the mermaids looked nervous.
"Something wrong?"
"We... we don't know how to use these things." The purple haired one said, pointing to her legs.
Luz walked over to them and carried them in her arms. The mermaids were surprised by it, but ended up resting their heads against the crook of her neck. Luz put them in the car, and was grabbed and pulled into the seat in between them.
"Alright, I get it, you trust me." Luz said, "Can I at least get your names?"
"I... I'm Amity."
"And... I'm Boscha."
The car started and Camila and Philip drove away from the aquarium. Elsewhere, a short distance from the shore, a young couple were on a small boat, enjoying the nice weather, when the boat came to a sudden stop.
"What's wrong?" The girl asked.
"The boat might be stuck on something." The guy said.
He went to the engine and was surprised when it was ripped off. Before he could process it, a massive dark purple tentacle broke through the water and wrapped around the boat. It began to pull the boat down, making the girl scream. The boat was quickly submerged and the two began to swim, only to get pulled into the water as well. Bubbles formed on the surface as they two screamed underwater, but soon stopped... shortly after that, the water turned red from blood.
