That familiar formula: Kirk, Bones, and Spock beam down to a planet to check it out, get captured, and Kirk tries to charm their way out of trouble by appealing to the female population. This is a short scene that speculates about Spock's first time witnessing Captain Kirk's method of getting out of danger, and how Kirk, Bones, and Spock became friends.

After slavers who traffic in high-value labor take Chapel, she loses her identity but retains her skills. Kirk wants to get the rest of her back, & Spock is willing. But this is after V'ger and there are things unsaid that need to come out, on all sides. This is Kirk-Chapel & Spock-Chapel. Hard truths, compromised people behaving badly: this one's not light and bantery. No violence

They beam onto a planet where a fierce tribe are trying to kill Spock because he resembles the members of another tribe that they are currently at war with. You also meet beau, and t'jezt. Between viruses, mind-melds and spores, Spock spends much of the first year of the Enterprise's mission with his mental walls broken down and his emotions out of his control. Nobody knows what it costs him to go through those events…or why he keeps letting it happen. Nobody but the one whose job it is to notice. Takes place immediately after The Devil in the Dark.

Writing a serious TOS McCoy-Chapel is pretty much against my religion, and yet here I am doing it. I'm blaming trekfan for the plot bunny but my muse takes all responsibility for the contents. I've put these two together before, but never without some other partner taking precedence or McCoy being sort of an unwelcome stalker. This time, I let them go for it. And I like the result.

What if our favorite characters were telling scary stories around a campfire on Halloween? The first story is McCoy's and quiet fittingly a variation on the White Lady tales. The second is Captain Kirk's, a space/Alien kinda story that my husband came up with. The third story is Spock's, with a twist. This is all in fun. I love Halloween. No slash, no sex, a bit of drinking.
