The First Prince's Rise

General Summary: For an Unknown reason Ainz, unlike players who have arrived before him, has been reincarnated into the new world leaving behind his strength, wealth, and subordinates. With only the support of his family's connections and knowledge of Yggdrasil and technology he remembers from Earth, how will Ainz fare?

Side Note: Jircniv has been age bent up quite a few years so that Ainz could interact with the canon timeline. At the time of Ainz's birth, Jircniv is a little younger than he is in the LN.

Chapter 1

Suzuki Satoru, also known as Momonga, or now Ainz according to the people who seemed to be his parents, found himself in quite a peculiar situation. For days now, Ainz had been trying to get a solid grip on his reality, but the more he thought about it the more it simply made no sense to him. One moment he was in the throne room of Nazarick, saying his final goodbyes to the guild, the next, Ainz found himself in a room that was not his own.

[flashback]

At first, Ainz thought that perhaps he was dreaming, The room in which he awoke was far too luxurious for him as a salaryman living in the 22nd century. Ainz would never be able to even enter a room like the one he found himself in, let alone afford to buy or rent it. From the ornate gold-embroidered rugs to even the simple decor on the shelves, every last item in his field of view was beyond him, But that was only the start. Over Ainz's bed stood a man and woman, the only people in the room other than him, having a conversation that he can still remember as if it had happened yesterday…

"-ng so peacefully"

"Indee- well not anymore."

As Luna observed her son's fright she quickly swooped Ainz into her arms.

"It's alright, my little prince, don't be scared." Luna whispered as she rocked her child.

For a moment Jircniv considered what his concubine said. 'My little prince, hm.'

If Jircniv was being honest with himself, he dreaded the years to come, when he would have children of his own, and when said children would grow into their own beings. Jircniv knows better than anyone else just how heartless and vile the plots and schemes of both royalty and nobility could be. Now, this is the day when Jircniv will start to face the same problems his father struggled so greatly with.

'Money, Power, Influence, all of these things on their own are enough to push a man to betrayal, I can only hope you can withstand that, Ainz.'

For a time the room was silent with only the gurgling of Ainz being heard until Jircniv decided to break the silence.

"For how silent Ainz-"

At the moment Jircniv said Ainz's name his gurgling suddenly stopped and his focus locked onto Jircniv, but upon seeing Jircniv's reaction quickly looked away.

'Did he.. Just look at me when I said his name?... no that's preposterous.' Jircniv reasoned to himself.

" -was during the delivery, it is quite surprising to see him so upset."

"All babies cry, Jircniv-sama" Luna replied.

"Of course… say, do you think he recognizes his name? He seemed to have quite the reaction to it."

The words hung in the air, at first Luna wanted to say that Jircniv was simply imagining things, but she too had noticed the reaction of her son.

"I don't know Jircniv-sama, I would assume that to not be the case, however, I did notice how he reacted... Maybe he likes it? Do you like your name Ainz-kun?" Luna said as she reached up with her free hand and pinched at Ainz's cheeks only to elicit displeased gurgling noises from the young prince.

"Hm, yes, there is no way he could understand this early." Jircniv replied in a contemplative tone.

'Ainz, you have the opportunity to do just about anything. Please don't waste it like my mother and elder brother did.'

Yet just as Jircniv sunk into contemplation, he was brought back to reality by a quiet knock on the door.

"It would appear that someone requires my presence, Take care, Luna."

"Yes, your majesty."

As Jircniv left the room Luna was left alone with only her son and her thoughts.

'I wonder if you really can understand?' Luna thought while cradling her child.

"There, there, everything is alright, Ainz…"

As Luna's thoughts wandered she contemplated the future.

"...I have high hopes for you, my son, and I know you'll make M-Us proud."

[end flashback]

… As far as Ainz could tell, he was barely a month old at that time, now he was five and not much had changed during that time aside from the regularity in which he saw his parents. For two years Ainz has been wondering where his mother was, the last time Ainz saw her he was 3 years old having a completely ordinary day. if Ainz recalled correctly his mother had just begun to teach him to read. At first, Ainz wanted to brush off education seeing as the education he inherited from his past life was likely sufficient for a Three-year-old, yet that had all changed upon seeing the language which his home nation used. To Ainz it merely looked like squiggles, and he could not recall any language like it from Earth. But after that Ainz had seen his mother less and less until now she was only a memory. On one hand, Ainz was worried for her, she was the person who helped him through his developmental years, the embarrassing parts included. Yet on the other hand Ainz could not help but feel distanced from everyone around him, from his father which Ainz only saw every week or so, to the maids and servants which Ainz seemed to have full authority to boss around even in his young state.

'This is all just so crazy!' Ainz complained to himself.

'These people see tier magic as natural as well... Nature! it's just so ridiculous!'

Ainz could still recall his first experience with magic in the new world. At the time Ainz was still confused about his situation, more specifically where exactly he was. To the best of Ainz's knowledge, the entirety of the earth was covered in smog, yet when he looked out of his window he didn't see the dreary sights he was familiar with, Instead, he saw a lush grass-covered courtyard, bright blue skies, and the white fluffy clouds which Ainz had heard about so much.

For a time Ainz was simply in denial of his situation, there could be no way that he had been simply whisked away to an entirely different world, it was simply beyond the scope of possibilities, and Ainz would have continued to wallow in his ignorance until his Fourth birthday when Jircniv decided to expose Ainz to both magic and martial arts. When Ainz had observed the demonstration of Fluder's disciples, it had taken time for him to even rationalize what was happening in front of him, and in his flustered state, Ainz, like many times before had denied things once more. To Ainz there was no way that magic could exist, and not just any magic at that, Tier magic, the magic of Yggdrasil. But after witnessing spell after spell it quickly dawned on Ainz that things were not as they were before.

Ever since Ainz had witnessed tier magic for the first time he has been thinking of the future ever since, he would no longer simply deny the reality in front of him. Just last week, the last time Ainz saw his father, Ainz had mentioned wanting to learn magic. When Ainz had asked he assumed it would be a clear-cut and dry yes considering the demonstration that was put on for him but that was not the case. Instead, the best word Ainz had for the reaction he got was surprise. First, he was asked questions such as "Why do you want to be a magic caster?", and "you are aware of how difficult it will be?". Ainz always hated it when people asked him complicated questions; every time he always had to try and answer as inconspicuously as possible. After all, being a five-year-old, the answers he gave couldn't be too well-spoken as people would quickly grow suspicious. Ainz had also considered trying to play the genius child yet he felt it would draw too much attention, so the answers he gave were simple. "I want to be a magic caster so I can cast those cool spells I saw." and "yes I know it will be hard but I don't care!". But Jircniv remained unconvinced until luckily for Ainz, Fluder stepped in and mentioned that he saw potential in Ainz to be a magic caster. Ever since a magic tutor was assigned to Ainz.

During these classes, Reil, Ainz's tutor, tried his best to simplify magic and its fundamentals for Ainz. But to Ainz magic was a completely foreign concept so needless to say the process did not go quickly. Yet after a complete year of study, Ainz had finally managed his first spell, Create Water, it might not have been the fanciest spell in the world but Ainz still took pride in the fact that he, a man from Earth, to whom magic was but a fairy tale was able to cast any magic at all. Simply put, Ainz was filled with child-like happiness, happiness that showed all around him.

But now Ainz was six, and he knew that he couldn't simply rest after learning one spell, unlike the people around him Ainz could see just how lacking the world was. Firstly the average magic caster was only ever expected to reach the second, or maybe the third tier, Anything beyond that is seen as extraordinary. Luckily enough for Ainz however, due to him being the first prince of Baharuth, education on magic up to the Sixth Tier would be at his disposal.

Secondly, the level of technological advancement was even worse. To the best of Ainz's limited knowledge, the most advanced technology that existed in the world were magic items, but to Ainz, this was simply magic with extra steps, and as far as true magicless technology went. Ainz was pretty sure these people had barely figured out the Pulley. But unlike before, Ainz's birth rights did not provide an easy solution to this problem. This, of course, is a minor issue for Ainz as he had already given up on ever seeing any of the same technology from his past. However, Ainz was not blind to the value and power of technology and machines, and he knew that if he could recreate even simple technology from Earth, there would be a lot to gain from it.

Not just for Ainz of course, Simple water pumps would make retrieving well water easier. A magnetic compass would make navigating maps possible for more than experienced travelers and magic casters. Even the most simple of engines, the steam engine, could revolutionize the entire world Ainz now found himself in. But Ainz only knew the very basics of those things, to piece together those things from what little he knew would require genius that he simply didn't have, but Ainz would not give up on these ideas of recreating technology until he knew for sure that he was incapable. But for now, he would focus on his magic studies.

As Ainz sat at his desk looking over his study materials for the formation and casting of first-tier magic, he allowed his mind to wander.

'Arrgh. This is barely helping me at all.' Ainz thought, letting his eyes sweep over the pages.

'I need a more concrete idea in my mind of what kind of build I want, not more word salad about balancing power and will!' Ainz swept the pile of paper off his desk onto the floor in a fit of anger.

'I guess I could become a necromancer again, I do recall Fluder being familiar with "Dark Arts". But do I really want to do that?' Ainz brought his hand to his chin.

To the best that Ainz could tell, necromancy was highly frowned upon in the new world. So much so that instead of Fluder saying he is a necromancer, he would instead say he was a "Dark Arts caster". This put a sour taste in Ainz's mouth, Ainz did not want to be a social outcast after all.

'Maybe instead of a Necromancy build like I had in the game, I'd be better off picking a more general route. But what to pick?'

As the various builds Ainz had heard of started flickering into Ainz's head he quickly realized how stupid this idea was.

'Master of Light? No, ridiculous, even on Earth in the 22nd Century the exact nature of light was still a highly debated topic, that's definitely off-limits… Maybe an Elementalist build? … Perhaps, but that would leave me defenseless to enemies that don't fall under my specialty.'

"Damn it!" Ainz exclaimed with a pound of his desk. The more Ainz thought of builds, the more he realized just how hard becoming that strong would be.

'Perhaps there is a reason this world is so lacking, I guess gaining godlike power on your own takes godlike intelligence.' But as Ainz's thought of builds came to an end, a realization hit.

'I don't even have a way to acquire halfway decent gear…do I?' When this realization came to Ainz, he slumped in his chair. His goals and his reality were simply too far apart.

'C'mon, Think Satorou! There has to be something… Wait, was there not a build in Yggdrasil which merged magic and technology?'

"Yes! That's it!" Ainz shouted as if he found the solution to all of his troubles.

'The Mekanist class! How could I forget? I wouldn't be able to fight high-level PVP but that's fine! If the strongest people I will ever fight will be at the level of Sixth tier magic casters then who cares about having godlike power! If I could get to a high enough level I could make all kinds of things… but wait, there's no GUI anymore… No! But that is my only option…' Ainz considered the machines which a Mekanist in Yggdrasil would be able to make through the GUI. In theory, if he was capable of creating them successfully he could have access to all kinds of combat-capable machines.

'I forget their names, but there is the Spell-Gun mounted Quadcopter modeled after the autonomous peacekeeping drones of the 22nd century. Spell guns as a whole now that I think about it. Also the surveillance machines like the Eight edge assassins, and that nearly undetectable plane with extremely high detection abilities. If I was able to make those then I'd be set but… am I really capable of all that?… I certainly don't have what it takes to become an eclipse over all life again.' After thinking for a few moments, Ainz knew that being a Mekanist was his only real option if he wanted to even get close to the strength and ability he used to have.

'Well I have my decision' Ainz thought as he immediately grabbed a stack of blank paper and wrote down everything he knew of technology before he forgot.

Everything and anything Ainz could remember he wrote down, from the simple machines like screws and gears, to even more complicated machines like those used in machining metal like mills and power hammers. For the more complicated machines, Ainz obviously did not know everything about them, but that did not matter to Ainz. What he could not figure out now, he would figure out later, and what he cannot figure out later, he would try and substitute magic for a functional solution. But as page turned to pages, and pages turned to stacks, the clock stayed ticking all the same. Eventually, Ainz would be drawn out of his trance-like state by a knock at the door.

"Your highness, may I come in?" hearing the voice of Olivia, Ainz's personal maid, Ainz hurried to hide the compendium of technological knowledge he was constructing and said in a hurry.

"Yes! ahem, yes, you may enter."

As Olivia slowly opened the door, seemingly being careful of overseeing something Ainz thought 'I'm 6 lady! just what do you think I was doing?'

Having fully entered the room, Olivia gave a bow and said, "Your highness, your father requests your presence in his private meeting room, I shall guide you, your highness."

"Alright then!" Ainz said in as cute of a voice as he could manage, and seeing the smile on Olivias' face Ainz would say he did alright.

'Well, It certainly helps that my voice is a lot higher now.'

"And your highness, are you having trouble with your studies?" Olivia asked, looking at the mess of Paper on the ground.

"Ah…" Ainz let out with a slight blush on his face.

"Sorry."
