Rey wakes from a dream. Or perhaps it was a vision, of what might have been...?

What would have happened if Rey took Kylo Ren's hand in TLJ? Or more interestingly, what would have happened if Rey were to be captured and taken from him afterwards? He would be pissed of course. A moment in their relationship years after she decides to join him. Warning: a subtle spoiler for TROS in the A/N that's in this one-shot! M for some minor adult content and words.

SPOILERS FOR RISE OF SKYWALKER! Ben and Rey's connection keeps him on the edge of life after he brings her back. With both of them now on the side of light, they set out together to restore true balance to the force without creating a new generation of dark force wielders. They decide that the only way to end the war between good and evil is to abolish them both completely.

You are lost, hope is gone. But you must go on, and do the next right thing. Rey mourns the loss of Ben, while trying to piece together some semblance of a future for herself. Now that Luke and Leia are gone, there is no one left to teach her the ways of the Force. Learning, as well as coping, is taken one step at a time.

After healing Rey, Ben falls under his injuries and Rey will help him surviving. The rebellion is going to try to install a new political regime. Ben can't be trusted because of his actions as Kylo Ren, but he can't be executed because of his trahison against Palpatine. He can't have a fair trial until there is a new power established.

The Force will always strive to achieve stability, attain equality between extremes, Balance in the Force. In a time not that long ago, in a galaxy just that little bit different, the winds of change caused a different choice to be made. If Jedi Master Luke Skywalker had saved his nephew from temptation from the Dark Side on Ajan Kloss, what would have precipitated?

Hey party people! Saw the Last Jedi and had to get in on this force-bond nonsense. So, Rey and Kylo are irritating each other and it slowly turns into something else. Hey, ok I've tweaked and re-loaded most chapters. Its just re-wording mostly until chapter 36 where the story will change from what I had previously. Cheers.

This is the craziest thing that's ever happened to Finn, and that's saying something. All he wants to do is get back home, but that may not be possible. Failing that, he'd like to change things ... but the First Order's history classes for stormtroopers leave a lot to be desired.
