Legacy of Batman (Final Edition)

July 15, 2022

So, I had to delete the story and repost it because every time I tried downloading it for my personal reading, the original unrevised edition kept downloading which led me to believe that I had to remove it and repost it. Weird, but so is technology.

In doing so, naturally I had to make a few additions and corrections along the way. I initially had not planned on making any big changes, but in the process of correcting a few things, some big things happened and I ended up adding a lot more new stuff. There is a whole new chapter added and I completely changed the Epilogue because I felt that the original one did not flow well. We'll call the original Epilogue an alternate ending. I am very happy with the end result and have now classified this as the Final Edition of LEGACY OF BATMAN.

I just have a few more things to add since I had originally written this introduction:

Firstly, Michael Keaton will be returning as Batman in the upcoming TheFlash movie which I am super stoked about. Undoubtedly it will make this story inconsequential but when I conceived Legacy of Batman there was no news of Michael Keaton ever returning to his iconic role and I wanted some kind of resolution to Tim Burton's series. It should instead be read as an alternative story as to how Michael Keaton's Batman series could have been continued.

Secondly, Max von Sydow has sadly passed away since I have conceived this story but he was very much alive when I originally wrote it and therefore I still see him as the ultimate Carmine Falcone in this story.

Thirdly, at the end of the story I am going to post a few different scenes that existed in the original edition of Legacy of Batman but doesn't exist in this version. The reason for this inclusion is to show just how badly written I felt they were originally and why I think this Final Edition is the best way to go. It'll basically a Deleted Scenes segment like what you would find on a DVD. The original Epilogue will be there also as an Alternate Ending.

I believe that is all I have to say in regards to Legacy of Batman and I feel that I may actually be truly satisfied with it now and will not require any future tweaking to this completed story in the future. At least I think I'm done with it. We'll see. If I come up with something else then I guess I would have to call it the Final...Final Edition.

Oh, and I have also finally completed Deadpool and the Atrocious X-Men Timeline. That story has the luxury of not having a single outlined thought by me and turned out pretty decent, in my opinion. Kind of out of character for me not to outline my stories and that will most definitely probably be the only story I ever not outline. I like to have a path and a structure in most stories but the character of Deadpool is spontaneous and sporadic and that was what I was going for with that story.

Anyway, aside from that last paragraph which has absolutely nothing to do with this story, I will now conclude this introduction.

Anybody interested in this story keep in mind that BATMAN FOREVER and BATMAN & ROBIN did not happen in this universe. This is Tim Burton's world and there is no room for campiness and batnipples in it. This story is my take on the completion of a Batman trilogy from the Burtonverse. Those movies are:

BATMAN (1989)

BATMAN RETURNS (1992)

LEGACY OF BATMAN (2020)
