A/N: So, yeah, again, just a disclaimer. I did not come up with the magnificent Harry Potter universe. That was someone else. I know, I know, a common misconception XD

Hermione rubbed her eyes awake, rolling over to discover that Harry was no longer beside her, although Ron was still there next to her, curled up against the sofa cushions, his strawberry red hair ruffled wildly as he snored, steadily breathing in and out. Upon noticing that there was a spot of drool on his faded green t-shirt, Hermione smiled to herself slightly. Then, the memory of their breakup last night slowly crept into her mind, coming back to her when she remembered how exactly they had happened to fall asleep on the couch together.

She heard hushed voices from the kitchen and thought to herself, "That must be Harry," as she stood up straight, combing her hands through her bushy hair and brushing them down her front to smoothen the peach-colored blouse she had fallen asleep in, now covered in wrinkles. Straightening the cushions, she happened across the leather-bound book that Harry had been looking at the night before. She knew that she should respect her best friend's privacy; after all, it must have been personal - if it was anything important, then Harry would have shown her, right? But as she set the book on the coffee table beside the couch, a few of the loose papers inside fell out, and she simply couldn't help herself. She took the sheets of paper carefully in her hand to look at it more closely. The one at the top of the stack was a drawing of her, with Ron and Ginny on both sides of her. The details were astounding! She knew that Harry could draw, but she wasn't aware how truly talented he was. It was a simple sketch of them from last year's Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. She carefully returned the papers to their original spot inside the book's cover, taking it with her as she walked to the kitchen, where she could hear Harry and Ginny whispering. "What about?" she wondered, curious as she made them aware of her appearance by knocking on the side of the wooden door frame, greeting them, "Morning, guys."

Strangely, she noticed that Harry appeared nervous but quickly regained his composure. "Hey there, Mione," he smiled.

Ginny patted the seat between her and Harry at the dining table, ushering her over to eat breakfast. "How'd you sleep?" she politely inquired, flashing a grin.

"Actually no nightmares for once, surprisingly," Hermione answered, trying to suppress a smile while swirling her fork around, playing with the scrambled eggs on her plate.

"Well that's great," Ginny said, her face glowing.

Hermione knew that she had to tell them sooner or later, and best avoid the awkwardness if Ron woke up and they eventually realized that something was off between them, so she cleared her throat before muttering, "Ron and I broke up last night." Harry and Ginny made eye contact, looking at each other briefly before Hermione clarified, "But it was on mutual terms."

Ginny was the one to finally break the silence that had fallen upon them. "Aw, I'm sorry Hermione. But I can't let you do that," she said with a completely straight face.

Hermione, obviously confused, squinted her eyes and stuttered, "Huh? What are you talking about Ginny?"

"I mean, you aren't allowed to break up with Ron unless I still get to call you my sister," she giggled. Harry snorted, nearly spilling his pumpkin juice. Ginny had always had a unique sense of humor.

Hermione looked taken aback, laughing and reaching over to affectionately elbow Ginny's arm. "Aw, I love you too Gin. Of course, Ron and I just realized that we simply aren't meant for each other that way. We're still friends, of course, more like brother and sister if anything."

Harry had a thoughtful look on his face, and he took the opportunity to say, "As long as you're happy, Mione."

Hermione had a strange sensation in her stomach, but she brushed it off. She thought to herself, "What did I do to deserve such great friends?"

It was at that moment that Ginny decided to get up, announcing that she was going to wake up Ron. "He should be done with his beauty sleep by now right?" she chuckled as she strode through the door.

As soon as Ginny left, Hermione turned to Harry, bringing out his leather-bound book from the hidden pocket beneath her cardigan. Harry looked worried before Hermione explained, "You left this on the couch. I didn't mean to pry, but some of the papers fell out, and I noticed a pencil drawing. I'm assuming you drew it, and Harry, the details are absolutely extraordinary."

Harry reached for the book, taking it and giving a nervous smile to say, "Thanks."

"So, how'd you sleep?"

Harry knew the unspoken, underlying questions there: Did you have any nightmares? Are you okay? What was the real reason you were up so late last night? He sighed to himself and confessed, "To be honest, the nightmares have never really stopped, but yesterday it was more so just because of the stress from work. I've been super busy with that classified, under-the radar Death Eater case." She gave him a questioning look, before he continued to explain. "And actually, it's sort of a funny coincidence that you didn't see my case notes in here," he said, holding up the leather-bound book. "So, I'm glad I have a reason to tell you about it myself. I got a new lead the other day. I didn't let you know about it because I could tell you were just so busy with your own work, and I didn't need to add to that stress."

"Oh, Harry, you didn't need to do that. And you know it's part of your job to report everything to me," she said pointedly. "As a matter of fact, technically-speaking, I could get you put on probation over that," she scolded, smirking with a mischievous look in her eyes.

"Aw, Mione, you wouldn't do that. Not to Harry (I saved the world and you're my best friend) Potter," he whined, giving her an adorable puppy-eye expression before gaining a more serious, business-like composure to say, "Anyway, remember how we put the Parkinson's in Azkaban a few weeks ago? I've been looking through their memories, particularly Pansy's father, Wildingham, and something caught my eye." Hermione leaned forward as she spooned some eggs into her mouth, interested. "There was a young girl at one of the Death Eater meetings that was held right after that Halloween when Voldemort killed my parents. But the thing is, she was seated at the head of the table, in Voldemort's usual seat. And it's a very strange thing for someone else, especially so young, to be conducting the meetings, much less a girl." Hermione gave him a glare. "Oh, you know what I mean, Mione; Voldemort was hardly a feminist - the only person of the opposite gender who he ever seemed to favor was Bellatrix, and even in that case, he hardly respected her. Anyway, she looked about Hogwarts age, and I've searched through so many records already, but no one recognizes her. I can't find a trace of this mysterious 'girl,' although she must be nearly 30 by now. And I just have this strange hunch that even though we've never seen or heard of her before, she must be important."

Hermione's expression appeared cautious, her mind racing over what Harry had just told her. Surely this "girl" couldn't be that much of a concern? "Hmm..." she pondered. "That is quite strange, and you're right that it could be important. It's the biggest lead we've had in a while. For now at least, there's no major threat though."

Harry agreed, "Yeah, your right. I guess we should try to enjoy our Saturday and forget about all this until we have to get back to work. But what should we - "

It was at that moment that Ron barged into the kitchen, interrupting them, "Oi mates, how long have you been up without me?" Ginny walked in behind him, and they both sat down, opposite Harry and Hermione. Ron began to stuff himself with bacon and toast, chugging it down with Harry's glass of pumpkin juice. They just sat together, chatting in the here and now, Harry and Hermione brushing aside their fears concerning that strange girl in a feeble attempt to have at least a somewhat "normal" Saturday.

A/N: Thanks for reading! I've been busy the past few days, but I have come up with a general idea/ details for where this story is gonna go!
