Chapter Eleven: The Trials of Vlad Plasmius

Welcome back, everyone to the Phantom Saga, yeah I changed it, finally, same story, just a better suiting title for this tale. Hope you enjoyed last time where Vlad got taken down by Danny's foes this time is a bit of a shorter chapter, and I did skim a bit, sorry, I didn't exactly know what to do with this chapter, aside from Walker's bit, so, it happens, everything can't be a banger.

Anyway, on with the show:

The excused shall have the right to a speedy, public trial, and be tried by a jury of their peers, so said the constitution of the United States. It had only been three days after Vlad Plasmius was dropped at Danny's feet by his foes as a peace offering, much to his confusion. However, that was not the main thing on his mind. The Fenton Family and the Grays had been called down to Washington DC, the nation's capital to give testimony in what was being called the trial of the century. Danny should have expected the publicity around the trial of his archenemy but it still took him by surprise. Reporters from nearly every news station was there, even some foreign correspondents were there, and just people from around the nation that were fans of his were there. The Fenton Jet landed in an area that had been cleared for them, and both families disembarked, Sam and Tucker had come as well as moral support. The Cheers of the crowd was almost intoxicating to Danny.

Soon after their arrival, A Guys in White vehicle appeared, which sort of suspiciously looked like a Fenton Family RV, and from it, came Agent Alpha, Agent K, and Agent O, with Vlad being walked, dragged by his arms, into the courthouse, as the crowd, insulted and booed at him. Another surprise was the arrival of the Beast, the armored limousine of the President of the United States. The President alongside his retinue of Secret Service guards stepped out of the car to the crowds cheers, who just waved at the crowd.

"It's a surprise to see you, Mr. President, I thought you would be watching this from the safety of the White House," Danny remarked as the President walked over to the part of ghost hunters.

"Somethings are important enough that one has to see it with your own eyes, and besides, I am not worried about it, as I have you all here, the Guys In White, and I have my own protection with me," the President indicate the Specter Deflector around his waist. Turning his attention to the youngest member of the group, "it is good to see you, little one, how are you doing with your family and society?"

"I am doing well, sir, thank you for asking," Danielle said.

"We'll see you in there," the President said, and then he and his security headed into the courthouse. Before the trial could begin, the Judge had wanted to verify whether or not Danielle could serve as a witness, due to the fact of how recently she was created, despite how old she physically was. It was decided that she could stand a witness. The court room was packed with people, to a point that people had to stand in the back and that court officers had to stop letting people into the room. The President had his own box, as this room had a balcony and that was where he was seated to observe this exciting trial. The bailiff said to everyone to rise as the honorable judge came in, sat down, and told them to sit. "The People vs Vlad Master is now in session," the bailiff said.

The DA and Vlad's appointed lawyer as he could no longer afford an attorney made their opening statements. The charges against Vlad were numerous, ranging from Extortion, Manipulation, unlawful possession of civil authority, Cloning, multiple accounts of attempted Murder, including attempted Child Murder, Bank Robbery, Willing infecting others with a deadly disease, hiring a hunter to hunt down a clone, Stalking kidnapping, unleashing a weather controlling ghost upon the world, and other crimes. Danny, of course was the prime witness to most of the crimes that were discussed. The firsgt thing that was called into question about his testimony was that he was addressed as Police Sergeant Phantom, as Vlad's lawyer pointed out that Danny was still under the age of adulthood.

To his defense, actually came the voice of the President, "Your Honor, I did not want to intrude on this proceeding, but Danny Phantom, and Miss Gray, or rather the Red Huntress are both legally eligible and ordained members of their police force's ghost division, through the executive order I signed that created the Guys In White, and that I granted both of them special dispensation to both of them to be able to join the force, as well as to the youngest Phantom to help them out."

"Thank You, Mr. President. Sergeant Phantom, please give your testimony," the Judge ordered, and Danny did so.

Danielle's testimony when the crime of illegal human experimentation was being presented, nearly brought the whole room to tears, when she was talking about Vlad trying to melt her into ectoplasm, which the topic of always hurt Danny's heart to be reminded of it.

Jack was on the stand about the ecto-acne incident, "it began back in our college years, me, my wife, and Vlad were trying to create the first ghost portal, and there was an accident where the the portal when activated, blasted Vlad in the face with ecto-energy, and from it, came a case of ecto-acne, after which he broke of contact with me and Maddie, until it came time for the reunion, but it was just a front for his real plan to humiliate me publicly,"

"I only had the ecto-acne because of your incompetence, you imbecile," Vlad spat out.

"My client would like that stricken from the record," Vlad's lawyer ordered.

"It was an honest mistake, one I have regretted every day," Jack said.

Later on in the trial, Danny was on the witness stand again, when the crime of stalking was being discussed, "Vlad sleeps with a stuffed doll of my mother, Maddie Fenton," he said.

"Hearsay, Invasion of Privacy," Vlad's lawyer countered.

"I'll allow it, on the condition the witness must provide adequate proof for needing to know this fact, for it to allowed," the Judge ruled.

"How did you come by this information, Mr. Phantom?" The DA question him.

"It was during the Nocturn incident, to keep it simple for everyone, Nocturn is ghost that can control Sleep and Dreams. In my experiences, especially coming relatively fresh of the Vortex and somewhat Undergrowth incidents, that when something major like this happens, I wondered if Vlad was behind it, so I went looking for answers. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, Vlad had gotten jumped by Nocturn as well, so I found Vlad asleep in his bed, with said stuffed doll," Danny recounted for the court.

"No further questions, your honor," the DA said and went and sat down. Vlad's lawyer came up to cross examine him on this matter.

"Do you really expect this court to believe that my client actually sleeps with a stuffed doll of your mother," the lawyer asked.

"I know it sounds crazy, but we have proof, as the doll in question was seized by my family in executing warrants to search and seize property belonging to Masters," Danny said, Maddie handed the police evidence bag with said doll to the DA to show to the jury, and the crowds reaction was not a kind one to this evidence, "Fingerprint analysis confirmed it belongs to Vlad, and when the warrants were executed, I was already a Police Sergeant, so I had the authority to execute it."

The Court had a recess so that the Jury could deliberate on the evidence and come up with their verdict. When the trial was resumed, "Has the jury reached a verdict?" the judge asked.

"We have your honor," the head juror stood up, "We find the defendant, Vlad Master/Plasmius, guilty on all charges."

"Vlad Masters, I sentence you to be stripped of your ghost powers and be locked up in a federal supermax prison, court adjourned," the judge said, and tapped their gavel hard on the plate to signal the decision was final. Danny and Valerie silently celebrated this victory. Perhaps a whisper yes escaped Danny's lips. As the court room emptied out, the Guys in White came took Vlad away, and Agent Alpha briefly spoke with the Fentons about enacting Vlad's punishment, for them to come to the GIW HQ in DC afterword.

"We did it," Jack remarked as the family walked out the room

"Yeah, we did it," Maddie agreed.

"Its not over fully yet, not until I hand Plasmius over to Walker, then it will be over, for me at least," Danny said.

The President came up to them, "Well done, I have say it was quite an exciting thing to see, this is a hard one victory for you, and today will be a day long remembered. I ask that you join me for a ride over to the GIW HQ."

"We would be honored, Mr. President," Maddie said. They all followed the President to the Beast and hopped in and they took off. What the President hadn't said was that they would make a stop at Congress first, where a large crowd was waiting in front of a stage.

"What are we doing here," Jazz asked.

"Isn't it obvious, I am awarding Danny with the Medal of Freedom," the President said, as he got out of the limo. Danny's eyes went wide in surprise. The Medal of freedom was the highest civilian award in the country. There he stood, before the crowd, sort of in a daze, as the President placed the medal around his neck, he was so in shock that he couldn't properly give a thank you speech.

Later at the GIW HQ

Danny wore the Fenton Ghost Gauntlets, which had been modified like Danny had advised to be done, ready to tear Plasmius from Masters, once and for all, the irony was not lost on him, relating to the creation his dark counterpart, but this time there would be no dark specter that was formed from their fusion. "I win," was all he had to say to his archfoe. He extended the claws, which hummed with ecto-energy, he inserted them into Vlad and gripped Plasmius and tore him out. Plasmius was then sucked into a Fenton Thermos. After the procedure, Vlad was placed on a jet to be sent to the Supermax prison, Mom and Dad went with them to see it through, Danny took possession of the thermos with Plasmius in it, and he, Jazz, and Danielle went home in the Fenton Jet.

Afterward, Danny went alone into the Ghost Zone, as he had a meeting with the Warden to attend to. He flew right for Walker's prison, to which the guards actually let him when he arrived there, he figured Walker told them to expect him at some point.

"Warden, I have a gift for you," Danny said as he set the thermos on Walker's desk, as he walked into Walker's office.

"Well, well, that is interesting," Walker said as he picked up the thermos and stood up, and called for the nearest guards. He told them to have their batons at the ready, he unsealed the top and let Plasmius out on to the floor, where he was promptly blasted by to the capture batons. The Guards picked up the dark ghost and chained him to a chair in Walker's office.

"Vlad Plasmius, it's about time you wound in my prison," Walker said to the ghost.

"Walker," Vlad spat.

"That's my name, know it, obey it, fear it. Know this, I am your judge, executioner, jury, executioner, jailor, and if necessary, your executioner," Walker said to the dark ghost. Danny in the corner had a bit of silent laugh at Vlad's predicament, and that Walker said the same thing to him as he did to Danny during that whole debacle around Mom and Dad's anniversary.

"You said executioner three times," Vlad said confused as to why Walker did so.

"He likes that part of the job," Danny said from his corner.

Walker opened his rule book and started to pace, and recount Vlad's crimes against the Zone, among which was Waking the Ghost King, Freeing Vortex,, stealing the Infi-map and using it to try to control the human world through time travel, and passing a law specifically targeted against one of his fellow council members, "Normally, considering this is your first offense in some ways, I was going to be lenient, but considering the nature and number of your crimes, I have no choice but to give you a maximum sentence, short of destruction," Walker said, as he walked a few feet away from the dark ghost, shut his rule book and spun back to give his judgment: "Eternity. Now let me remind you of a few rules: Rule One: There may be chaos everywhere else in the Ghost Zone, but there will be order in my prison. Rule Two: Cross me, pay the consequences. Rule three: Just because you're a ghost, doesn't mean I can't crush you within an inch of your afterlife. Always remember who is in charge around here, and your infamy will earn you no favor with any of the other inmates." Walker then called for the guards "Guards, show our new inmate to his cell," the guards led Plasmius to the center to get a prison uniform that restricted his abilities and then led him to a solitary confinement cell.

When they were alone again in the Warden's office, Walker sat back in his chair, "You seem pleased," Walker said, in his usual tone.

"I am, my archenemy is beaten and at last he got what was coming to him, even better is the fact that he will never be able to escape either prison. His human half is in a Supermax federal prison, and now his ghost half is here. Since they have been separated, Plasmius can't turn human to escape and return to his human host."

"Good, at least there is one I don't have to worry about making a run for it," Walker said, then he smirked a bit "you know, Technus talked my ear off when he heard about the Anti-Technus law in your town."

"Sounds right for him," Danny smirked, then asked "So, you have been trying to get the Council recognized as a form of government?"

"Johnny and Kitty told you, didn't they? Yeah, I have, no luck with those Observants," Walker said.

"Well, good luck with that, I take my leave," Danny said, and then left the prison. As he flew home, he is mind was jumping for joy, it was over, for him, finally, well at least that part of his life was over. When he reached home, the Fentons partied their victory.

Well there you have it, Vlad is take care of, and out of the way, so one less problem for Danny to deal with. Hooray, but Dan is still out there. Where we go from here? Who knows.
