"Are you positive of this, Rias?" Sona asked the redhead. There was a frown on her face from what she just heard.
"I'm telling you, Sona. The Stray Devil was already dead when we got there." Rias told her friend. The two were presently in the Student Council room. "Well, more like brutalized." The Gremory heiress added as she recalled what had happened last night.
(Flashback)
Rias' peerage had just arrived in the outskirts of the warehouse where their target was located. Issei, a brunette and one of the Perverted Trio and a newly reincarnated Devil, looked at the others.
"So, we're going after a Stray Devil?" He asked for confirmation.
"Correct." The Knight, Yuuto Kiba, said. "A Stray Devil was once a servant like us. However, they would abandon their masters for various reasons, mainly power. In most cases the strays' bodies would mutate due to their demonic power that was no longer controlled by their King."
"Kiba is right. And it's our job to eliminate them." Rias added. "This one has been feasting on unsuspecting humans and thus must be punished. It is also a good chance for me to teach you about the Evil Pieces themselves, Issei."
The group soon entered the warehouse, still illuminated by the lights inside and the moon outside. They took note of the destroyed and knocked over chairs and other objects scattered across the floor but stood focused on their task.
"Stray Devil Viser! For the crime of abandoning your master and devouring humans, we have come to punish you! Show yourself!" Rias yelled.
There was no response to the heiress's declaration. "How strange. According to the file, Viser is quite prideful. She wouldn't miss up a chance to fight us head on." Akeno commented.
"President." Koneko Toujou, a small, petite white hair girl with golden eyes said. "I smell blood, lots of it. And something's rotting."
"Hmmm." Rias hummed as she tried to figure out what was going on. It was then her eyes spotted a silhouette lying in the darkness. "Akeno. Shine some light over there." She said.
Nodding, the Queen created a ball of lightning that illuminated the room and had it focus on the hidden object. What it revealed caused the Devils to gasp.
"What the fuck?!" Exclaimed Issei.
There, lying on the floor, was Viser's corpse. One of her spears still shoved through her second large mouth, blood covering her the front part of her body. A forward leg was bent unnaturally and the other torn off from the knee. Finally, her head was completely twisted to a 180-degree angle. There was a look of horror on her demented face.
(End Flashback)
"Koneko tried to locate the person who killed Viser, but she wasn't familiar with the scent." Rias said as she sat down, her large breasts bouncing a bit from the impact. "I destroyed the corpse before leaving and our familiars are still combing the town for any signs."
"This is most disturbing." Sona said as she rested her chin on her hands. "While killing a Stray Devil is doing the community a service, the way you describe it…. Do you think it were the Fallen Angels or... the Hellspawn?"
"I had thought that, but the way Viser was killed doesn't match of what I seen of Fallen Angels. Besides, they wouldn't care about a Stray Devil so long as it didn't disrupt their operations here. Whatever they might be." Replied Rias. "So it has to have been the Hellspawn. Which is why I am came to you. I was hoping you and your peerage could help search the town for him."
"Of course. I'll have our familiars join yours in scouting." Sona said immediately.
Since he didn't exactly have a place to take shelter in, Nathan resorted to doing what he's always done since becoming a Hellspawn: Sleeping in places the homeless go to. And of course, his sleeps aren't peaceful as he is plagued by nightmares, seeing Hell, it's victims crying out in agony, demons screeching and snarling, Violator's annoying laughter. Even when that clown was dead, he still haunted Nathan to this day.
But it was nothing compared to the nightmares involving Malebolgia himself.
And right now, Nathan had woken up from one of those hellish nightmares. Even when Malebolgia is dead, and he has his soul back, the torment never ends.
He was inside an abandoned subway where, around him, slept other miserable wretches that found everyday a living torment.
Nathan sighed and stood, leaving the subway to hop climb onto the rooftop of it, then began looking for a tall building to perch himself on, which he found nearby so he ran, leaped and climbed his way to the top and perched himself on the ledge, his cape billowing in the breeze as the full moon shined in the sky behind him, it's light illuminating him but he still came off as a dark silhouette with glowing green eyes and a red cape.
Nathan didn't know what to do with his life. Malebolgia was dead, Violator was dead. And he was some drifter, never staying in one place too long, always on the move, And now he's in a town with Devils in it. If they discovered the corpse of that ugly Devil he killed the other night... then they'll be onto him or at the very least looking out for suspicious activity.
Nathan heard a squeak and looked up to see... a bat? He frowned, confused, as the bat hovered in front of him before it suddenly disappeared, causing Nathan to go on alert, especially when a red circle of sorts appeared, followed by a blue one. And from them came... high school students?
No, it was the Devils that live in this town.
"What the hell do you want?" Nathan asked harshly.
The redhead smirked arrogantly. "So this is the famous slayer of Malebolgia?" Nathan tensed up at hearing that name. "You don't look like much."
"Girl, if you want to keep your eyes in your head I suggest you and the rest of your fucking kind piss off and leave me alone." Nathan growled.
"Hey! Don't speak to her like that!" The brown-haired boy shouted with a glare.
"Enough!" The girl with a bob-cut hairstyle and glasses said sternly as she stepped forward, giving the redhead a look. "Rias, stop trying to anger the Hellspawn and keep your Pawn on a leash."
The redhead just rolled her eyes.
The other Devil faced Nathan and gave a bow, as is Japanese custom. "Good evening. My name is Sona Sitri, Heiress of the Sitri House. This is my peerage. With us is Rias Gremory, Heiress of the Gremory House, and her peerage. We merely want a moment of your time to talk."
Nathan's eyes narrowed. Devils were deceitful creatures, so he had to be careful here. The redhead... she oozed arrogance and superiority, as do most of her kind. And she was clearly a spoiled princess growing up, unlike the one called Sitri. But, they hadn't attacked... yet. So Nathan will extend a slight bit of mercy and let them talk.
"Very well. Talk, and make it quick." Nathan spat as his green eyes narrowed on them.
Sona nodded. "Straight to the point, I see. I wanted to ask, did you know this town was governed by two Devil heiresses before you arrived?"
Nathan barely blinked. "No."
"Well, it can't be a coincidence we're here and the infamous rogue Hellspawn comes to our town." The redhead said, crossing her arms underneath her breasts, pushing them up as if to entice Nathan. The Hellspawn saw the brown-haired boy gain a lecherous expression as he stared at the girl's breasts.
Oh great, a pervert. Lust really does run strong in Devils, especially males.
"I don't care what you believe, Gremory. Had I know Devils infested this town like rats... I'd have avoided it altogether." Nathan said coldly.
Sona adjusted her glasses. "You have a disdain for Devils." She noted.
"Try hatred of everything that Hell birthed." Nathan corrected her with a glare. "I despise Devils, Demons, and whatever other hellish abominations that came crawling out from Hell. After all... it was a demon who took my soul."
Sona merely hummed. "Rias found the remains of a Stray Devil last night. It had been... butchered. Was that your doing?"
Nathan didn't even blink, his tone was cold and dark as he replied. "It got what was coming to it. Now are we done? Get lost, it's a school night I think."
He turned to leave when he leaped to avoid a blast of red and black energy. He turned and saw the redhead had her arm stretched out with some kind of... power coming from it.
"I'm sorry, Hellspawn. But this is my territory. I cannot allow a possible threat roaming around here freely." Rias explained.
"Rias..." Sona said in warning.
Nathan';s eyes were locked on the redhead. "If you want to die so fucking badly... then I'll be sure to rip your heart out."
Nathan saw the blonde-haired kid rush in a blur, but Nathan has faced faster and trained himself to be faster.
A loud bang resounded through the air, followed by four more, with one passing by the Devils. Kiba's sword was shattered and the blonde soon found himself facing the end of a shotgun in Nathan's hand. The Hellspawn's other hand held a Desert Eagle, which was pointed at the other Devils. Each of them was missing a strand of hair and had a small cut on their cheeks.
"I'll say this once." Nathan began as he looked at the Devils. "While I rather kill the lot of you, I have more important things on my list I need to focus on. So, this is how it's going to work: you don't bother me, I don't kill you. Got it?"
The Devils said nothing, still shocked of how the tables had turn. Rias was confident that she and her Peerage could handle the Hellspawn, despite one of them still being new to his position (Issei). Instead, Nathan had immediately held them at his mercy with mere human weapons. Normally, weapons made by them would mean nothing to supernatural beings. And yet Rias could not shake the cold feeling of dread that just began building up within her.
Not waiting for an answer, Nathan dismissed his weapons, turned and leaped, disappearing into the darkness.
"Well..." Sona sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "At least we get to keep our lives tonight..."
Nathan walked down an alleywy, far from where he met the Devils. He felt nothing but anger and the desire to kill them, but he didn't. He gave them his first and only warning, if they try and push him... then he'll end them. It's as simple as that.
"Well, I must say that was a show."
Nathan paused and whirled around to see a man standing there, appearing to be in his twenties with an average build, black hair, golden bangs and black goatee. He also possesses twelve jet-black feathered wings that grow out from his back. For clothing, he wore a V-neck maroon long-coat with a wide, open high-collar that opens up at the hem. The long-coat also featured two black belts around the waist and four black bands on each arm, two of the bands at the wrist and the other two near the elbow. He wore grey slacks and brown shoes.
Nathan's eyes narrowed at the Fallen Angel. "Who the hell are you?"
"Name's Azazel." The Fallen Angel introduced himself with a grin. "And I'd just like a moment of your time before you try and pop my head off my shoulders..."
And that's it for this chapter. Nathan met the Gremory and Sitri Devils... which went as well as you'd expect, and now is meeting with the Governor of the Fallen Angels.
Somehow, one side is going to test Nathan's patience and he's just going to go kill them all, God of War and Doom style.
