After that day in the park the months quickly passed by, in the morning they both would wake up early and Jasmine would start her lecture on either one of the principles of magic, the political system of the Wizarding World, or even some etiquette and traditions of their world. When Violet asked why she needed to learn about something that even Jasmine admitted wasn't really practiced by anyone outside of the nobility; Jasmine finally explained something that just continued to prove to Violet that she and Jasmine were superior compared to the rest of the orphans. She discovered that speaking to a snake, or speaking Parseltongue she supposed, was proof that she most likely was a descendant of Slytherin, maybe even the heiress much like how Jasmine was the Potter heir.

At first, Violet was a bit annoyed that Jasmine hadn't told her about this during that first night when she mentioned that she could talk to snakes, apparently, she had forgotten she didn't know what Parseltongue is. However, that did nothing to dampen her enthusiasm at the idea that she was part of the nobility, not just any noble house but one that if it still was active was a Most Noble and Most Ancient House, one of the four noble houses that founded Hogwarts. It was weird that in comparison Jasmine was just the heir of a relatively new and relatively much less prestigious noble house. She still didn't trust the younger girl completely; she knew that the amount of knowledge she had was simply impossible to have at such a young age, especially when Jasmine herself had let it slip that etiquette and political lessons didn't start until you were seven and eleven respectively she was clearly hiding something. However, Jasmine also had already cast her bets in her favor by defending her with magic against Nancy and her cronies like that, so Violet could give her some trust in return.

She knew that Jasmine was clearly exceptional even in the magical world, during normal school she breezed through all the problems and essays using words that even Violet had never heard of. She clearly knew more about magic than your average seven year old and after months of careful examination, she concluded that Jasmine's magical core must be just a bit smaller than hers. So Violet decided that her new friend must be as exceptional as her. Yet according to her, she was nothing more than a member of the minor nobility, nothing more nothing less. Still much more exceptional than the dunces they had to tolerate in their daily lives but much less than what she would have expected from what seemed almost like an equal.

Those nitwits also had seemingly started to change their attention towards Jasmine instead of her. The girl was much more tolerant than her, as long as they didn't get physical she didn't react to them in any way. That made them much bolder compared to what they were with Violet. They frequently spread nasty rumors and insults even when they were at earshot of them, one particular dunce was stupid enough to steal one of the dolls that Jasmine had brought from her old home. Violet soon started retaliating, sending them nightmares or small jolts of pain, if she heard them speaking badly of her friend. In the case of the thief who had decided to steal the doll, well she would be wearing a cast for the next few weeks. So they stopped after a few months, although Violet was sure that those same rumors were still being spread or even outright said in front of Jasmine the few times she wasn't around. Probably because she hadn't proven to them how dangerous she could be. And Violet knew that for the moment Jasmine was more dangerous than even her.

It was early March when Jasmine decided it was the perfect time for them to start practicing dueling. They would go to the park that was near the church and they would ward it off with as many privacy spells as they could. Then while they both took the time to recuperate a bit from the amount of magic they just spent, Jasmine would talk about a new spell or curse she wanted to teach her. Violet was even more curious about why a girl younger than herself knew and mastered so many offensive and defensive spells to the point where she was able to cast them wandlessly, with some difficulty sometimes yet in the end she always could.

As Jasmine explained to her, dueling was one of the few magical practices that used wandless magic extensively, (and how impatient she was to get her own magical wand), no duelist worth his salt would ever cast a shield with his wand unless it was to block a particularly powerful curse. However, no duelist would ever cast a powerful or even an average hex, curse, or charm without a wand. It just took too much time, too much focus, and too much magic to be worth the effort. So unless it was a simple hex or curse, those that Jasmine called schoolyard magic, no one would actively cast wandlessly. Unless it was one of those spells that it was just too useful to not learn as if it was the back of your hand like Accio.

However, Jasmine seemed to ignore her own rules as some months after they started Jasmine decided that as a celebration of her own birthday, she would teach Violet a more useful spell. One she knew immediately after she cast it for the first time, that she would need months of practice before she would have been able to cast it without a wand quickly and reliably. However, it was quite clear that being able to make your opponent drop unconscious was worth it. And the pain of falling to the ground unconscious each time they dueled was a good motivation to learn to dodge better. She was sure that Jasmine hadn't told her how much it hurt to fall down the first time to laugh at her expense.

Since then, every few weeks instead of teaching her a small and mostly useless spell such as making leaves rotate around you, she would teach her something much more complex than she was sure was actually used in dueling. However, Violet was sure that she would never use any of those spells in a duel until she had her wand, they required far too much magic, time, and focus to be cast wandlessly, even for Jasmine. But she supposed that knowing how to cast them wandlessly and in some cases wordlessly would just help her when she learned them properly. And she knew that Jasmine was hiding the best ones for the moment because they were getting increasingly violent. The cutting spell that she was taught last week would perfectly be able to kill someone if it hit an artery. So yes Violet could admit that most likely her friend was much more dangerous than her, because, although she would never admit it until she started being taught by Jasmine she had already used most of all the things she had in her repertoire.

The other lessons were progressing at a much slower pace, as it was obvious that Jasmine wasn't as interested in tea parties and political debates as she was in dueling someone to the ground. And wasn't that a surprise, when she learned that dueling was a perfectly suitable career for a woman in the magical world? She was sure that if it wasn't for her she wouldn't be even interested in continuing these lessons. For that reason, Violet appreciated them more than any other. She knew that Jasmine liked her company probably because she was as fed up with the other orphans as herself and Violet was the only remaining link she had with her actual world. However, it was when Jasmine made small sacrifices for her were she truly showed why the younger girl was Violet's only human friend.

However, there was a development that she didn't like about this newfound friendship, it cut off how much time she could spend with Euryale, who she kept secret from her roommate. So as a present for Jasmine's anniversary from the day she first arrived at the orphanage, Violet invited her for the first time to come with her to Euryale's tree. It did help that the annoying reptile hadn't stopped bothering her about when she was going to introduce her to her new friend, since she first mentioned her. It was a hot day when the two girls went to the tree that had been her refuge for so long, both with a book on hand. When the small snake smelled them she quickly exited from the small hole where she was likely hiding in.

"Hello speaker, I see that at last, you have decided to introduce me to your little friend." hissed the small snake in Parseltongue. Violet was startled when she heard Jasmine gasp at those words. "I understood that!" she exclaimed surprised.

"How is it possible? I thought that speaking Parseltongue was exclusive to the heirs of Slytherin" said Violet, unconsciously slipping into Parseltongue.

"I'm not sure. I know that the Potters and some descendants of Slytherin from this era have a common ancestor among the Peverells but I thought the marriage with the Slytherin line happened after both lines diverged." she started to babble, clearly lost around the different ancestors trying to make a family tree in her head.

It took Violet a moment to understand what she had just said and stopped to think about those words for a moment. Did she just mention other descendants of Slytherin, descendants of this era, alive descendants, did that mean that there were others? Did that mean she had family out there? And she didn't tell her! She knew that Jasmine was hiding things from her but she thought that she had already told her everything she could about her past, didn't she understand how important this was? Didn't she understand what this meant! She didn't have to be in this decrepit and old orphanage! She had some rich family that could take her to her real world!

Anger rapidly festered as she struggled to control her magic.

"You knew there were others. You knew I had family out there and you didn't tell me." coolly said Violet trying to not let her anger surface.

"Violet, no it isn't that..."

"Stop lying to me! You just lie again and again! Tell me the truth" yelled Violet.

"I didn't want yo..:" whimpered Jasmine confirming Violet's suspicions, she had been lying to her all this time.

"I had enough! You didn't tell me how you know so much about magic etiquette and all that and I accepted it, it wasn't my secret to pry. But now you come and you tell me you knew that there were others that I had a family and you didn't tell me! I had enough, tell me, be truthful for once."

Violet noticed in the corner of her eyes how Euryale hid herself once again at her yelling but she was too angry to think about that. She knew it was a mistake taking her here, she now knew about Euryale she now could harm her. She didn't know if she could take Jasmine in a fight. The younger girl may know more but there must be a way she could be able to beat her if the need arose. She would need to teach her a lesson after this, Violet Riddle would not just sit down and accept while others laugh at her behind her back. She had to try that idea she had after learning about the stunning spell, and she was going to see if she could do more than just stun people.

Then Jasmine started to sob and Violet's thoughts stopped to a halt. "I'm sorry! I knew that it wasn't okay lying to you but I didn't want them to hurt you!"

Why would they hurt her! Was she so pathetically afraid that she simply tried to lie with the most cliche line possible! Unless… unless they didn't want her unless they had abandoned her. She had always thought that her father was as dead as her mother. He wouldn't have left her here if he wasn't no? She refused to believe that her mother had been a harlot, as some of the kids of the orphanage said. Not when her last words were about how much she loved her father. She had always thought that her father was the wizard in the relationship despite what Jasmine said, but now she wasn't sure what she preferred. If he was still alive if he was up there in the world with the rest of Slytherin's descendants… So she has a family? They knew about her that was clear from Jasmine's words and reaction yet she was still here in an orphanage abandoned. Had her dad abandoned her?

Then she felt someone hug her, she realized she was crying and that Jasmine was hugging her.

When she calmed down Jasmine murmured "Come with me, this isn't a conversation we should have outside."

Despite how angry and confused she felt, Violet dried her cheeks and she silently followed Jasmine back into the orphanage. When they entered their room Violet warded it with everything she could think of, she took a deep breath.

"Start talking." she demanded.

"I… well…. I didn't want to teach you this until later on... as it is quite invasive and exhaustive but I think this is the best way to tell you. There is a branch of magic called the mind arts that focus on entering, modifying and defending memories, thoughts and feelings…."

"What does that have to do with anything!" interrupted Violet angrily she didn't have time for random ramblings.

"It is important, let me finish." she implored, grudgingly Violet nodded "Normally you do it by inserting your magic without any intent on someone else's brain and it will show you at first what they are thinking about. It is much easier if you focus on the eyes of the other person as they have a direct pathway to the brain. You already did something similar when you caused me nightmares during the first few days at the orphanage, although that was closer to a compulsion that brought forward those memories I wanted to suppress. Please look into my memories."

Violet wasn't pleased by the fact that her friend hadn't told her anything about something that if what she understood was right would be able to even delete her memories. Grudgingly she could admit that she trusted Jasmine enough to believe that she wouldn't use it against her, but what about other wizards and witches, she was vulnerable against them. However, what took priority first was learning what else was Jasmine hiding. So with a solid nod, she focused on Jasmine's green eyes, and she started sending magic toward them.

She tried to keep her mind as clear as she could just focusing on the task of picking her magic from her core and sending it to Jasmine. It took a while but finally, she felt a connection forming and images started to appear in her head as if she was remembering something, but she immediately knew those memories were foreign ones.

She saw a gigantic man hitting a door until it fell. She remembered a feeling of dread before relief came when she knew that she wasn't a freak and that she was magical. She remembered a great hall full of kids and teenagers wearing robes and whose roof could be seen through. She remembered, a ginger head boy and a girl with bushy brown hair reading with a voluminous book and felt the excitement that followed. She saw a man lifting his turban and showing a horrible mimicry of a face behind it, with snake-like traits and deep crimson eyes. She felt the echoes of anger, then fear, then resignation. Then, she remembered being in a cavern decorated with statues of snakes and a tall statue of an old man, seeing a handsome teenage boy with dark hair who could be mistaken for his elder brother talking in Parseltongue and commanding a gigantic snake and the horrible fear that followed. She remembered the despair facing a horde of black figures and a warm white raven soaring through them. She felt the hate that coursed through her when she saw a small fat man in chains. She saw what could only be a dragon breathing fire towards her and she ran around some bushes until she took a cup and she arrived at a cemetery. She remembered the fear of seeing the snake-like figure appearing from the cauldron. She saw the bushy-haired girl now older and a redhead girl dueling against her as she did with Jasmine every morning. She saw a bowl full of a gray liquid with an old man wearing hideous colorful clothes beside her and she touched it. She saw their room although the other bed was untouched and a young boy a few years older than her with hair and eyes as black as her. She saw a tall black-haired woman screaming before being left inside a giant vault. She finally saw the snake-like man fighting against her, overwhelming her until something happened. He cried in pain leaving him open to being hit by a green curse and falling on the spot, leaving her there empty.

That's when she felt a disturbance in the magic she was sending into Jasmine that made her lose focus and the connection ended. She was breathing heavily, what was that, she knew those images, those visions were memories, but who were those two boys that could have been her brothers what was happening here.

"On July 11tht 1979 a seer made a prophecy in front of the Chief Warlock." Jasmine spoke with a blank expression, seemingly looking through the window into the distance, her voice conversational as if she was telling her a long-forgotten story. "The prophecy said that someone was going to be born at the end of July with the power to kill the Dark Lord and they would be the only ones able to do it. The mentioned Dark Lord, Tom Riddle," Violet inhaled deeply at the name "or as he was known at the time Lord Voldemort would attack a family that met the requisites presented by the prophecy. However, thanks to what likely was a ritual to protect her daughter, the mother was able to cast a protective spell on her, and the killing curse the Dark Lord used rebounded. Leaving him without a body and leaving Holly Dorea Potter orphaned at just 15 months." she took a deep breath, her gaze lost a thousand miles away from here, seemingly thinking how to say what came next. "What no one knew until much later was that a piece of the Dark Lord's soul broke off because of its instability after multiple rituals violating it. That fragment attached itself to the young soul of the Potter heiress. The protection that her mother gave her proved to be enough to protect her from her soul collapsing because of this perverse infection, but when at last the prophecy came into fruition the piece of soul and the protection disappeared leaving behind a broken soul." she sighed before continuing her tale "Soon I died because of the affliction, Death considered this as natural causes, lifting the curse that they had cast onto a trio of objects a millennia ago, in compensation for that service they gave me the chance to reincarnate on another world. Some things are different, Holly's grandfather doesn't exist instead Jasmine Potter is the last Potter, and Tom Riddle was born a girl." Finally, Jasmine stopped looking through the window and stared directly into Violet's black eyes "You aren't that monster, you are my best friend and I'm sorry I didn't tell you about this before. I just didn't trust you at first and then I was scared you would think I was." Her voice broke at the end before starting to sob quietly, clearly fighting to regain her composure.

Violet was left without words for a moment, so another version of her… no of her he may have shared her last name but he wasn't her… that boy had become a megalomaniac with dreams of grandeur sacrificing mind and body for what a dream of power! And Jasmine had been his prophesied destroyer. Dying because he accomplished her destiny.

"So that's why you know so much you are just teaching me what you learned in your past life?" she numbly murmured.

Jasmine finally stops crying for a moment and she takes a deep breath before responding.

"Yes, if you were a normal heiress you wouldn't get much more magical training before Hogwarts other than finding your core, manipulating its magic without intent, and eventually Occlumency" she stopped to think for a moment before adding " and the basic security procedures for potion making, how did I forget that with how horrible potions were for the first two years."

Violet let a small smile appear on her face despite herself. She definitely appreciated much more the tutoring in dueling than some security procedures.

"And what do you know about my family?" she asked. Jasmine sighed once more, before responding.

"As I told you this isn't the same world there are already some pretty major discrepancies. But if you want to know, Tom's mother was a very weak witch, the last daughter of one of the most ancient noble houses, the Gaunts. They were both one of the most important members of the Dark faction and one of the strongest supporters of blood purity. However due to a lot of incest trying to keep Parseltongue away from other noble houses they declined during the last century, to the point where they weren't politically relevant anymore. They are also the heirs of Slytherin, as the Slytherin name died in the Middle Ages when the last Lord died unexpectedly without a male heir or a marriage contract guaranteeing that at least one of his grandchildren would keep the surname." Jasmine then gulped clearly trying to find her next words, and with fear clearly present in those green eyes. "Nowadays they live in poverty near a muggle village, where Merope, Tom's mother, gave Tom Sr a love potion and they conceived him."

She continued to talk but Violet wasn't listening anymore, she remembered being four and asking the matron if she knew anything about her mother. She remembered how she told her that sob story of arriving at the orphanage already in labor. How she had her and told her to name her Violet Rionach Riddle, said that she looked just like her father before dying shortly afterward. Violet had always been a bit vain, proud of the fact that she looked better even in a cheap dress than the other dirty orphans. However, now she felt repulsed by her own face, the feminine version of the face of the man her mother raped. The proof of her real origins.

"Did he know?" she roared.

Jasmine looked at her and for the first time since she met her, Violet saw pity in those green eyes. She was pitying her!

"Did Tom Riddle Sr know about his son?" she asked again, almost yelling once more.

"I don't know! - I would tell you… if I knew I would tell you I promise, but Dumbledore never showed me if he knew." She hesitated for a moment almost as if she was weighing to tell what came next before saying "Tom found out about them sometime before the summer after his fifth year. During the summer… he killed both his grandparents and his father and he framed his uncle."

Again silence encapsulated the room as the implications of what she just said are assimilated by Violet. She knew what that meant, no matter how much she hated it, she knew what would push her into killing her family and framing an uncle for murder. He knew! He knew and they rejected her. It made sense, counting how ingrained blood purity was in that family, Merope must have asked for help before ending up in Muggle London. They obviously knew about her, about whose child it was and they still abandoned her inside this orphanage for over eight years! Her anger was rekindled once more, she gritted her teeth trying to control the impulse of going out of the orphanage to kill him.

And her father's family, she wasn't sure if they knew but she was sure they had abandoned Tom just as much after they knew. Why else would he kill them? And she knew that even though she wasn't Tom they would do exactly the same thing if she went to them. Finally, she understood why Jasmine didn't tell her anything about this. She may say it was because she didn't want to reveal her past memories but she could have told her she knew about the Gaunts the same way she knew about the Malfoys, Lestrange, and Shacklebolts. No, she didn't tell her because, despite everything, she thought she would go out there to search for them and cast the cutting spell on their jugular. She too thought she was a monster like she was in the other world.

"Get out! Go to Ms. Cole and tell her that you don't want to be my roommate anymore. I'm tired of this! Of your lying of you thinking that I'm going to kill anything that offends me! That's why you defended me, no? Because you thought that I was going to kill Nancy and her friends! Right!" she shouted.

"No it isn't like that I …"

"I don't want to hear your lies and excuses anymore! Get out!" she hissed.

Jasmine opened her mouth clearly wanting to say more before sighing standing up and leaving the room with tears in her eyes. If Violet's heart stung for a moment at seeing them nobody would know.
