So, I decided to bring this back and give it another go, seeing as I have a DC version up, I figured I should try and work on the Marvel version. Of course, it has no connection to Devil of the League whatsoever. Let's hope this second chance is what this story needs.
And of course, like The Devil of the League, this story is a harem. But unlike the previous version which had 13 women in the harem, I'm going to go for a bit of a more larger harem. Not too large, not like 50 large.
As for which Marvel Earth this takes place in, it'll be the Earth 616 obviously but I may put in a few MCU elements as I plan to show the OC's beginning into crime-fighting and becoming a hero rather than just a Demon Hunter. I don't know if I'll do a good job, but I'll try to make a decent origin arc for Drake's rise to becoming a hero.
Disclaimer: I do not own Devil May Cry or Marvel Comics, only the OC Drake Redgrave.
Walking down an empty street was a seventeen-year-old male teenager. The teen had short white hair in a faux-hawk like style
His attire consisted of red pants with two black belts wrapped around his right thigh, a black, leather belt, black gloves, and high, black boots. He also wore a hooded long coat with Western and Italian features, that was a deep red, almost crimson color. The coat is short-sleeved, with numerous gold-colored studs decorating the shoulders, collar, and chest, with a single zipper on the front. While underneath the coat, he is wearing what appears to be a black long-sleeved shirt, with a red vest with black clasps over it.
This was Drake Redgrave, a half-demon who slays demons.
Turning down an alley, Drake went down a set of stairs, arriving at a door at the bottom and entered inside the now revealed bar. The bar was mostly empty, aside from the bartender and three of guys playing a game of poker.
Sitting at the bar, Drake clasped his hands in front of him.
"What'll it be?" Asked the bartender, cleaning a glass.
"Strawberry sundae." Drake answered, with the bartender chuckling as he turned to face him.
"This is a bar, kid, no place for someone like you." Stated the bartender.
"Really? Just trying to sweeten up the air in here, it smells like shit, or more like, blood. And that's fine with me." Said Drake, as the bartender stopped cleaning his glass.
"Cause what I'm interested in, is this rumor I heard. They say that somewhere around here, there's a bar, more like a dive, a place where they'll take someone's life in place of money. Kinda scary." Drake stated, looking over his shoulder when one of the players snickered
"Sorry, forgive me pal." Said the player.
"Royal straight flush, is it? Playing a hand like that could kill a guy." Said Drake, before looking forward, while reaching into his coat, while the player set down his cards and stood up.
"How about, I buy you a round!" He said, walking towards Drake, only to be met with the end of a black handgun pointed at him, before he was shot in the forehead.
The guy's body flew back with blood flying out of the bullet hole, but rather than dying, a monster seemed to burst out of his body and charge at Drake.
Ducking under the attack, Drake slid back, just as the other two players also transformed into monsters, as well. Pulling out a second handgun, being white in color, and shot the two monsters three times in their heads, reducing them to bloody paste.
Going to aim at the first monster, Drake gave a small grunt, when it suddenly lunged and bit his arm.
"Not bad, Mr. Royal Flush." Drake stated, dropping the gun in his free hand and held his now free hand out.
Immediately, a large demonic sword fell out of the sky, crashing through a skylight. Grabbing the blade, Drake swung the sword and sliced the monsters ahead off.
The sword was massive with a heavy double-edged blade, notched on both sides near the tip. The grip is plain, but the guard is skeletal, with a skull-design on each side leading to the rib cage from which the blade emerges; on one side of the blade, the skull is that of a human, while the other uses a horned demon skull. Initially, the crossguard is folded in against the ribs, but it extends and the skull transforms into a screaming skull once the sword was awakened by Drake's blood.
This was Rebellion, a sword given to Drake by his father, Sparda. (1)
With the monsters dead, Drake sheathed his sword on his back and holstered his guns. Walking up to the door, Drake paused for a moment, before drawing his sword again and stabbing it through the door, with the bartenders body falling through the window not a moment later.
Pulling his sword out, Drake opened the door, stepping aside, as the boy fell to the ground.
"Next time you open up shop, don't forget to add strawberry sundae's to the menu." Drake said, walking up the stairs.
However, before he reached the top of the stairs, another monster emerged from the bartenders body and lunged at him. Though before it could reach him. Drake spun around with his guns and aimed them at its head.
"Jackpot!" Drake said, smirking as he pulled the trigger.
BANG!
"Mr. Redgrave!"
Drake cracked an eye open to lazily look at the teacher that had interrupted his sleep with annoyance in his eyes. "What?"
"Please don't sleep while in class. And feet off the desk." the teacher scolded, causing Drake to sigh and remove his feet from the desk. Satisfied, the teacher went back to teaching the class while Drake looked out the window.
Here he was in his first day at Midtown high after coming to New York City and buying himself a descent apartment in Queens, and already he was starting to regret putting himself in school but knew he had to in case people start to wonder what he does. It wouldn't do well for people to investigate a 17-year old who doesn't go to school, and then find out about his life as a Demon Hunter.
So far his day at Midtown High was boring but decent.
The teachers were not pushy or relatively good at keeping order in the class and it was not uncommon for the lessons to be entirely spent with the teachers dealing out punishment to students that misbehaved and so the learning experience was made even slower.
To be honest, he didn't understand how making them spend an hour in detention was in any way going to solve the behavioural problems of many students that believed they were too good for a proper education. A far more fitting punishment would be humiliation or even threats targeting something they cared for.
The first would mean that their pride would be damaged and as a result, would be far more cautious and even scared to repeat similar offences in fear of appearing as a laughing stock once again. The second would also be effective in striking fear into the hearts of said misbehaving students and make them once again, less likely to commit similar offences.
One thing he also had to point out about why he hated school was the students. All of them complained about their home lives, their parents and even about their boyfriends/girlfriends, yet they lived such peaceful and easy lives. It annoyed him because of how ungrateful they were to be able to live such lives when he had a far more fucked up life due to being hunted by demons nearly five times a week. Not to mention the fact that they were honestly rude and didn't even attempt to hide their conversations about him.
First day here and already he was being called a delinquent because of his hair colour. Like, what does that have to do with anything?
Thankfully, he didn't have to wait long because as soon as the teacher began to drone on about how some chemicals reacted in a certain environment, the bell rung. This was followed by the students eagerly packing their bags, and chairs scrapping across the floor.
The teacher himself tried to calm the class down, but no one was listening. Just like Drake had noticed, he had no idea how to control a class of young teenagers properly.
Exiting out into the main corridor, Drake move down with his backpack slung over his shoulders and his eyes panning over the many students that littered the corridor. Despite their only being a few minute interval between classes, some students were obviously in no hurry to get to their next class on time.
Many were stood in small cliques and friendship groups and were talking about miscellaneous and boring subjects that had no real relevance to their future. Instead of being focused on improving themselves, many seemed content to simply coast through life.
The sound of laughter and jeering quickly caught his attention and as he turned the corner, he came to see a group of jocks picking on a scrawny kid. Considering the fact that many were big guys, it was highly unfair for the little guy that by the looks of things seemed both terrified, confused, and also resigned to his fate.
His eyes then landed on one of the individuals pushing the kid. 'Flash?' He knew about this guy of course, he had tried to invite Drake to join the Football team when the half-Devil had shown slightly above average physical abilities, nothing to show he was superhuman, but just enough to show that his muscled build was not just for show. Plus, there was also the fact many of the girls, including the cheerleaders, stared lustfully at Drake when he passed.
Drake of course had refused, partly because Flash had a poor personality and mostly because Drake didn't want to waste his time with something like football.
"Flash! That's enough." Drake spoke firmly as he pushed through the slowly gathering crowd and pulled the kid out from their grasp.
"Redgrave?" Flash appeared confused for a moment, angry as well, no doubt due to his fun being ruined. However, he quickly put on a friendly smile. "What you doing, man? We were just having some fun, weren't we Parker?" He glared at the kid as if daring him to deny it.
Drake looked down at the kid in his hands with a raised brow and watched as his eyes flickered around as he tried to think of a way to salvage this. Seeing that, he wasn't going to be able Flash's question, Drake decided to do it for him.
"Really." His voice was dripping with sarcasm and all attention was drawn back to him. "Because it sure as hell didn't look like you were ' just having fun.' Mind telling me the truth instead of lying out your ass."
Flash's eyes narrowed even further and Drake withheld the urge to smirk. It was obvious to him and many other people watching from the sidelines that Flash was getting angry, scratch that, downright pissed and many wondered excitedly if a fight was about to break out.
"What's it to you anyway, Redgrave?" Flash retorted.
Drake smirked as he walked towards Flash, who had stumbled back to out some distance between the two of them, and was looking at his group of goons. "What's it to me? It's because I find that five of you guys picking on one scrawny little kid to be very pathetic."
Stepping back, Drake put his hands in his pocket and watched in amusement as Flash tried to appear tough despite being clearly intimidated.
"You even think about picking on people smaller than you, people that won't fight back out of fear because it makes you feel tough." Drake said before he glared at them darkly. "Now I suggest you leave... while you're still able to."
And they ran.
All six of them, Flash included ran down the corridor followed by the sound of mocking laughter as some caught the sight of dark patches upon two of the goons pants from where they pissed themselves out of fear.
As Drake watched them leave, he then turned to the slowly dispersing crowd and waved them away. Those still curious bystanders did so, reluctantly and then Drake turned to the kid who was looking down the corridor his bully's had run down in shock.
"You alright?" Drake asked and the kid looked up at the white-haired teenager in shock and awe, before he gave a hesitant smile.
"Eh, y-yea. T-thanks."
"Don't mention it." Drake stuck one arm out. "Name's Drake, Drake Redgrave."
The kid clasped his hand against Drake's and shook it. "Peter Parker."
Drake nodded his head and then looked at the clock on the wall. "Well Peter, it's been fun but I have to get off to maths otherwise miss Bruner's going to be pissed at me." He started walking forwards, just as Peter called out for him.
"Wait!" Drake turned around just as Peter crashed into him, not having expected the blonde to stop as suddenly as he had. "Eh, w-well, I just wanted to let you know that I'm also in miss Bruner's class. We could go together if you want." Drake looked down at Peter with a smirk as he saw the nervous fidgeting. No doubt, Peter was very grateful and a little awed by him and wanted to at least be friends, if only for safety from Flash.
"Sure." Peter flashed him a smile once more and the two walked in silence down the corridor, passing a few other students that pointed and whispered at Drake as he walked by. News seemed to pass by very quickly. "So, that happen often? Flash bothering you that is."
Peter frowned and looked at the floor dejectedly. "Yea, I'm not the only one he does it too, but I'm his most popular choice." Drake snorted at that and Peter even smiled slightly, despite neither finding it very funny.
"Well, guess I've got my work cut out for me then, huh?"
"What'd you mean?" Peter asked and Drake gave him one of his signature grins.
"Someone's got to keep you from getting your ass kicked all the time as well as keep Flash's ego in check. Way I see it, it's a win-win for me." Drake shrugged and Peter frowned at the last part.
"Win-win? What do you mean by that?"
"Eh, it doesn't really matter. Don't worry about it." Drake waved off Peter's question just as the two entered the maths classroom.
As they did, Drake thought to himself. 'Guess I made a friend...'
And that's it for this chapter. yeah, so Drake hasn't started out as a hero yet unlike in The Devil of the League where it began with him already doing crime-fighting. This story will show what reason drives him to do crime-fighting and become a superhero, aside from fighting demonic bad guys.
Like I said, I want to try and make an origin arc. i guess this arc could be considered as The Devil's Beginnings.
1. Rebellion from DMC 4, awakened.
