Chapter 7

"You're being called in." Natalie said over the phone.

Skye looked at her phone with confusion, "If it's Tony, tell him I quit and am busy."

"SHIELD is calling you in for a consult." Natalie corrected.

"Oh," The Murdock said, "I'm just, not going to ask. Where am I being called to?"

"He's really obnoxious." Skye said from next to Pepper. "What was that little dance? Super sad."

From a few seats over, Happy snorted.

When introductions came, Skye didn't think anything of it when the army, navy and the air forces came on stage. But, Rhodes? Absolutely betrayal.

A whole pimped up MARK IV suit slowly appeared on stage. "That fucker." Skye hissed, "I told him not to let anyone pimp it.". The hacker turned to the ginger next to her, "Would I be protected if I punched military?"

When Natalie, or Natasha just give her a pointed stare. She just sank down into her seat and rolled her eyes. Muttering, "Fuckin' government and stupid Hammer."

"You sound like Tony." Pepper mused.

When a familiar sound interrupted their conversation and possibly Hammer's speech, Skye looked at Natasha. "Is that?"

The ginger nodded.

When Tony volunteeringly walked up to Hammer. Skye knew something was wrong. She stood up real fast and made her way to the stage, Natasha right behind her.

Once Skye got closer to the stage, she could hear snippets of the conversation.

"Get out of here. Go! This whole system's been compromised." With that, Skye began running, pushing people aside in order to just get behind stage and get to a computer.

Iron Man shot back from Rhodes, "Let's take it outside."

Shots were fired and glass rained down from the sky. People were shrieking in panic, standing up and running to find someplace to hide. Then, the drones in front started up, same as Rhodes' suit.

Putting on her new mask modification she got from Stark as some sort of parting gift, covering only half of her face, just up to her nose. Skye connected to JARVIS and to the new Iron Man model.

"What do you need me to do?" Skye asks immediately and runs through security.

"Break in. I need to own him. Let JARVIS do it." Stark immediately replied.

Nodding, Skye saw Hammer just running past her and to his on-site tech. She just followed him and pushed him aside. "He's locked us out of the mainframe."

"Obviously you have been. Look at your tech." She snarled. "I just need you to tell me who did."

"Please, please, go away. Go away." The CEO of Hammer Industries said and waved them away. Right as Pepper caught up to them. "I've got this handled."

Skye cleared the path for Pepper. "Have you now?"

With attitude Hammer just held his hands up, "Yes, I do. In fact, if your guy hadn't showed up, this wouldn't be happening." Not even resting before just sprouting into some way to save himself from whatever this fiasco is. "So please, now go away. Thank you." He then bowed down to his techie, "Listen, we gotta get these bitches out of here."

Skye was held back by Natashi as she already took a step forward. Intending to just beat the living shit out of him, just like her training with Matt and Stick. Grinning as Natasha just took the pretentious guy's arm and threw him against the desk.

Skye grinned as she noticed Pepper being taken aback. "You tell me who's behind this. Who's behind this?"

Hammer groaned in pain, "Ivan. Ivan Vanko."

Skye sighed as he told them the name. "Of course."

"Where is he?" Natashi continued her improvised interrogation.

The man groaned again, "He's at my facility." Letting go, Skye stayed behind just a little. Seeing Pepper call the NYPD.

"Honey no, don't call the authorities." Once Skye heard him call Pepper, honey? She blew up. Pulling handcuffs out of the small case from her belt, she clipped one around his hand and the other around the dask. Handing Pepper the keys.

She sneered at the man, "Don't call anyone names. You're not even in a position of power. Fucking dumbass." Skye said before running out, catching up to Natasha Romanoff, an agent of SHIELD.

Seeing Happy, Skye called him over, "Get to Pepper." She said and pointed in her direction. "We're paying Vanko a visit." She called out before letting her mask extend into the whole helmet.

Seeing the parked bike, she pulled out her keys and pushed it into the ignition. "Hold on." She said to agent Romanoff.

"Stay here."

"Staying here, my ass." Skye said and followed her to the door. Seeing Natasha struggle with the key card once, she let JARVIS hack into it immediately, making the door click and no alarm go off.

The helmet reduced to the mask and running inside Hammer Industries they went.

"Hey, hey, hey. You can't come in here." He couldn't finish his sentence as Skye gave him an effective two-punch combo that knocked him out cold. Following right behind Natasha as she entered the new hallway.

"Hold on. Hey!" A guard shouted. Romanoff slid on her knees and threw two small things down on the ground. Electrocuting a guard.

The next guard was Skye's, vaulting over a cart. The hacker turned and acrobatically kicked the man out cold. On her side, Romanoff ran farther down the hall and slid as she punched the new guy's nuts in. (Go Romanoff!)

Skye jogged past her, "Nice finishing pose! Love it! Looks just a tad uncomfortable." She called out and turned to do a roundhouse kick to drop the newest guard down to the cold, cold ground.

Halting at the next hall as she motioned to the agent that there are two down the hall. "Attention. We have intrusion on Grid W."

Skye rolled her eyes and the agent just took out her toy set of hockey biscuits. Throwing it at the feet of the guards. Flash bombing them and letting out some smoke.

"Love your toys." Skye muttered as she jumped over the floor spin of Natasha. Giving the unaffected guard a kick to the chest. "Multiple incoming! Vanko is going to know that we're here." She then made sure he was knocked out.

Agent Romanoff then effectively held her own against the bald guard. Kicking him at the back of his legs. Throwing the string over her shoulder and knocking out two other guards.

Skye looked at a sound as she heard his heart increase rapidly. With a kick to the head, she knocked him out cold again. She then held up her arm as yet another guard came around the corner. Gripping his arm and holding it up, grabbing the taser out of his hand and just tased him real quick before punching his chin.

"I came out of courtesy to the expo!" Skye exclaimed, "Now I'm fighting bad guys in some shitty facility."

"Trust me, I'm not too happy about this either." Romanoff grumbled and walked off, macing a guy as she walked by him.

Skye suppressed a smile, "Clearly." She snorted and followed behind the agent.

Taking out her gun as she noticed Natasha coming to a halt. The agent pulled out, not one, but two guns before she kicked in the door. (badass.)

"He's gone." Skye said, not hearing anyone's heartbeat. The two guys, uh, hanging out, have been long gone as well. With interest, she walked over to the computer. "I always like a new challenge." She said.

"Reboot-"

"Rhodes suit." A few more clicks. "A few seconds and done deal. I like his code, very nice. Just, not him." Skye grinned. Pulling up Stark on their feed, she turned the grin at him. "Nice suit. Use the new programming?"

"Vanilla, no kinks at all." Stark said.

"I'm reading significantly higher outputs and your vitals all look promising." Agent Romanoff says as she looks at the screen.

"At the moment. I'm not dying. Thank you."

Now it was Skye's turn. "Dying? I thought you were doing drugs!" She claimed, "Taking bathroom breaks and that shit smell of cleansing drinks." Then, Pepper tuned in on another screen.

"We were just planning an intervention!"

"No, I'm not. Not anymore." Tony replied. The two then started going back and forth.

Skye rolled her eyes, "Just fuck already, shit." She whispered and agent Romanoff snorted in amusement.

"What did you just say?" Pepper said. Tony started talking over Pepper and just mainly encouraging the suggestion.

"You've got incoming, Tony." Agent interrupted. "Looks like the fight's coming to you."

When Tony's feed was cut, Pepper just looked at the two of them. "I might want to add that I am going to be consulting for SHIELD?" Skye said, sheepishly.

"Just get Stark Industries up and running before you go." The woman called out.

Police then showed up behind Pepper. The two in Hammer 's facility got the satisfaction of seeing him get arrested, properly, by the NYPD.

"One more drone, Tony." Skye called out. Studying the computer that Vank used, along with his language. "It's in russian, partially." the woman observed. "Haven't seen that in a long time."

"Russian?" Agent Romanoff asked.

"Yeah." Skye shrugged, "You pick up a few things at the orphanage. Mostly because I was bored too."

"This one looks different." Natasha added, "Try to shut it down. Get it's feed first though."

"On it ma'am." Skye saluted and grinned. Beginning to type away, she started to encounter a lot of problems. Only able to pull up his feed, she stopped. "He has his own computer system built into it. The only thing I can get is his feed."

Then she squinted. "Get the fuck out!" She shouted at the intercom. "Self-destruct!"

"This is Skye Murdock's assessment of you." Fury said as he held up a file. "Not all are positive. Most neutral, some even negative. You should read it." Then, another file. "This is Romanoff's assessment of you."

"-to use you as only a consultant." Fury said, leaning on the table.

Tony then stood up, and just shook his hand. "You can't afford me."

"Welcome to SHIELD." The man with an eyepatch said and held out his hand.

"Thank you, sir." Skye said and smiled, "You'll know I'll be taking some time to leave though. Family and Stark Industries."

"Sure." Fury waved it away. "You're a valuable asset. Like agent Romanoff said, even agent Coulson preached about your computer skill along with another agent who also preached you. Just not for, that skill."

"What now, sir? Or should I say Joseph? Read your file, impressive." Skye said and leaned back in her chair. Ignoring the pointed look from Natasha.

"Do not call me that." There was a glint in his eyes, or well, eye.

"Don't add it to your file then." Skye shrugged, "Easy as that. What comes next, Fury?"

"You, go on missions as agent Romanoff's shadow. Now? You're a level 4. Quite a jump start in S.H.I.E.L.D. She alongside a partner will be training you in different weapons and fighting styles. You'll learn in missions as well."

Agent Romanoff stood up, "Let's go get a fully detailed assessment of you." She said.

"Are we going to be best friends?" Skye asks and stands up to follow after the woman, "I just know we are going to be. I have tons of questions, do I get to keep and stay in my apartment? Will I get to see my brother? Can I even tell my brother? What can I do as a level 4? Not like it would stop me to do anything though-" Skye just kept on talking. Grinning as she noticed Natasha getting more and more annoyed with her.

Skye then waved at Fury through the glass wall. "Can I call you Nat?" The hacker asks like an excited child, "Or Natty? That'd be fun." She grinned.

"I'm going to put my knife to your throat if you don't shut up." The woman said through a forced smile.

"That's kinky." Skye said and winked, "Watch out, I might like that." Elevator doors closed in front of them. "You happen to know of the other agent who preached for me, just not for my computer skills?"

Natasha snorted, "That agent was sent for a threat assignment, due to you being close friends with Stark and barely having information to your name, anywhere. You really turned it around for yourself."

"But who is it?" Skye asks.

"You'll see them around." Natasha said with an amused smile.

Skye rolled her eyes, "You're no fun. Answer my questions."

"No."
