Chapter Two.

It was Izuku Midoriya's second day at U.A. High School. His nerves had died down slightly since the first day, though that still didn't stop him from staying up all night studying. Staying up until ungodly hours and reading English textbooks has become a habit now. He literally can not sleep without doing it.

'Curse that practice schedule! Studying until I pass out has become the only way I can sleep now since I've been doing it for ten months!'

He ends up sleeping at his desk more often than on his bed, which has ended up with Ferrous practically stealing the bed from him.

The cat won't even let him sleep in his own bed. 'Who's really the owner in this relationship…?' he sighs, packing his things and heading out. He gave an unresponsive Ferrous a pat on the head and said his goodbyes to his mother before skipping off to school.

Izuku was honestly super excited for his classes today. He checked his syllabus and all of his normal classes would be taught by heroes! This would be amazing! And to top it all off, he had Hero Basic Training in the afternoon! The class All Might would be teaching!

'I wonder what All Might will be like as a teacher… Actually, is All Might even qualified to teach in a classroom? How did he work in the time to study for a teaching license while he worked as a hero?' Either way, Izuku was certain that his lessons would be intense.

Making his way inside the classroom he takes his assigned seat next to the boy who could shoot tape out of his elbows. Izuku thinks his name is Hanta Sero. Deciding for the first time in a year to be actively social he turns and speaks to the boy. "Hey! Your name is Sero, right…?"

"Yep! That's me! You're Midoriya, right? You sure put on a show at the quirk assessment test. Falling on your face so many times!" Sero gives him a laidback grin and Izuku winces, remembering his performance on the test.

"Yeah uhh… I sure did! That test really pushed my limits…!" Izuku nervously responds with a chuckle, feeling his face heat up. 'Crap! This is getting awkward! Think of something! Anything!' "Uhhh… how do birds fix their broken wings…?"

"What? How am I supposed to know the answer to that..?" Sero looks at the green haired boy with a confused head tilt.

"They use Duck Tape!" Izuku blurts out the punchline and Sero just sighs at him. He could swear he heard Uraraka's laugh from across the room though. 'At least someone found it funny! Even if it wasn't my target audience!'

"That joke was awful dude, you need some better material." 'Ouch. That stung.'

"Okay uhh…" He racks his brain for another tape based pun, it seemed thematic. "What tape aren't you allowed to use until you're 20?"

"What…? Why would tape have an age restriction?" Sero once again sets up the punchline, perfect!

"Scotch tape!" When he's met with striking silence from the tape boy, Izuku just sighs. At least he can hear Uraraka giggling from her side of the class. She's surprisingly easy to make laugh. 'Cute.' "Y'know cuz like… scotch whiskey? And the legal drinking age is 20?" Izuku somehow makes the joke even less funny by feeling the need to explain why it's funny.

Sero lets out a pained groan and nods his head. "Yep, I get it. It's just terrible…"

Before Izuku has time to protest and come up with another tape pun, the bell rings, signifying the end of homeroom.

Sero was just grateful he didn't have to deal with anymore puns.

The first few classes were all incredibly boring. It was amazing to get to see all these heroes in person! Sadly, their material was less than stellar… It seems like even Present Mic can't make learning about prepositions interesting.

The classes had all passed by, with nothing of note really happening. Though Izuku is still slightly shocked by the fact that they let Midnight teach in a high school at all. That feels like it should be against some regulations.

After their mathematics lesson with Ectoplasm, the students all headed to the cafeteria to get their lunch. And 'Oh my god, Lunch Rush is the chef?! How much cooler could this place possibly be?!'

After getting his lunch he heads over to a table and sits down. Having spent the past several years eating lunch alone, Izuku didn't expect for anyone to come sit with him. He just expected to sit alone and mutter under his breath about quirk training for the entire period. So it came as a bit of a shock to him when both Uraraka and Iida had sat down at the table.

"Hiya Midori!" Uraraka waves to him when she sits down, using a completely made up nickname. 'At least it isn't Deku!'

"Hi Uraraka, Hi Iida!" He waves back and gives them an anxious smile when they sit down with him at the opposite side of the table.

"Hello Midoriya! I hope you don't mind us sitting with you!" Iida does that strange chopping thing he always does with his arms.

"I don't mind at all! I never really had anyone to sit with me back in middle school, I guess they all found me kind of repulsive." He laughs at his own joke before realizing what he'd said. Oops. I just accidentally said something incredibly depressing like it was nothing.

Hopefully I don't push them away with how lonely I am. Hah. Quirk joke… I need to stop.' He mutters under his breath and Uraraka gives him a strange look.

"That's fine! I don't mind sitting with you, Midori. You're funny! Plus it's way better than sitting near that explosion guy. Or Mineta…" she shivered when mentioning the two most unlikable students in their class.

Izuku gave her a bashful smile and nodded, "That's true, I'd rather sit next to a body-snatching sludge monster than sit next to Kacchan…" Spoken from experience.

And with that, the three of them settled into pleasant conversation while eating, enjoying Lunch Rush's amazing cooking.

"Somebody told me that it rained rice once." Izuku turns to Iida and Uraraka, striking up a conversation.

"Really? Who told you that?" Iida comments while taking a sip of orange juice.

'Hook line and sinker!' Izuku chuckles as Iida had just fallen into his trap.

"I don't remember, I don't think there was a grain of truth to it anyways." He smiles smugly while taking a spoonful of rice from his bowl, just to rub it in.

Uraraka had burst out laughing, coughing on the food she was chewing and Iida just gave a disapproving sigh at their antics.

The bell had rung, alerting them that it was time to move on to the next period. All three of them handed their trays back in before walking to class.

It was finally time for their Hero Basic Training Course.

"I HAVE… COME THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!" All Might shouts as he waltzes into the room. Decidedly not like a normal person. The entire class flared to life, the boring day of normal classes being entirely made up for.

"It's really All Might!"

"He's wearing his Silver Age costume!"

"Totally manly!"

The entire class smiles at the sight of the number one hero. Izuku himself is muttering up a storm about how cool the hero is. He really is the number one, he even walks through the door like a hero!' Izuku has no idea how walking through a door could possibly be heroic, but All Might had just done it.

"It's Hero Basic Training! This class will shape you all into the great heroes I know you can be! There's no time to waste! Today's activity is going to be battle training!"

Izuku could see Bakugou grinning like a madman after hearing the word "battle". But for once, the rest of the class seemed just as excited as him.

"And for that training… you are going to need these!" A wall of the classroom literally opens up, showing briefcases labeled by number. "In accordance with the request forms you all filled… these are…"

"COSTUMES! YEAHH!" The class cheers in unison, finishing All Might's sentence with scary accuracy.

All Might laughs at the sudden syncing up of his students. "That's the spirit! After you change, come out to Ground Beta." And after that, All Might left, leaving them to put on their costumes.

Izuku picks up the briefcase with his number and looks at his costume inside. A wide grin spread across his face. 'It's perfect! Just like what I wanted!' He quickly got changed, putting on the costume and going with the rest of his class out to Ground Beta.

All Might stood out at the front of Ground Beta, watching the students file in one after another to the training grounds. He smiles widely at all of the fresh hero costumes, there's certainly some room for improvement on some of them, (Why did Young Mineta's costume have a diaper? Had the support course played a prank on him…?) but overall, these kids had nailed it!

And then he saw Midoriya Izuku walk forwards and he had to do a spit take at his costume. 'Seriously, Young Midoriya?! Do you not know of subtlety?! My agency might sue you over this costume!' He chuckles as the boy strolls out.

Even if it was a blatant copy of one of his old costumes, the boy looked better in it than he had. Not that the number one hero was jealous of the boy's style. That was the costume of a boy who would one day become a great hero. All Might was sure of it.

Izuku Midoriya wore a skin tight costume that covered most of his body. It was a very dark gray, almost dark enough to be mistaken as black, with lines of purple throughout it, to accentuate the design. He wore a white utility belt with several small pouches. It was full of a certain support tool that he had asked for.

And on his back he donned a dark violet cape, sure it was a tad bit flashy, but he wanted it to be recognizable. In short, if someone were to describe his costume…

They would say it was a palette swapped version of All Mights Bronze Age costume, with purple accents instead of red. The only differences being the white utility belt and the fact that this costume was fitted for someone much smaller than All Might.

If Izuku had gone to a hero convention, someone probably would have mistaken him for an All Might cosplayer. Nobody had the heart to tell him this though, instead opting to pretend they didn't notice how obvious it was.

He walked out to the rest of his class, turning around to look at all of their costumes. 'They're all so cool! Wow! Iida is even wearing a full suit of armor!" He muttered comments about his classmates' costumes when he felt a tap on his shoulder, making him jump and turn around.

"Wow Midori, I love your costume! It's totally hero-like!" It was Ururaka, dressed in a skin tight latex suit. Wow. "I wish I'd been a bit more specific on my request forum, this suit is so puffy and curvy, it's kinda embarrassing." She blushes and laughs, rubbing the back of her neck.

"I think it looks amazing, Uraraka! I really love the space theme you have! And it's really cute!" He blurts out, a dark heat spreading across his face as he realizes what he just said.

"I-I uhhh- I just mean that it will be really recognizable! People love cute heroes! Y'know?! And you're cute!" 'I'm digging myself a hole, aren't I? I should just shut up.' And so he does.

"Thanks Midori! That means a lot…! I was kind of unsure about this costume but I like it a whole lot more now!" She grinned at him, a faint dusting of pink across her cheeks.

"Shall we begin then? Are you all ready for battle training?!" All Mights voice thunders across the chatting students, and a wave of cheers erupts from them.

"Sensei, this is the same area as the entrance exam, correct? Are we going to be performing cityscape maneuvers again?" Iida calls out to their teacher. Izuku seriously can't get over how cool his armor looks! It kind of reminds him of another hero, though he can't think of who right now.

"Nope! Today you will be moving on to the second step! Indoor battles!" All Might flashes them all a wide grin. "Villain battles are most commonly seen outdoors but… the most heinous and evil villains often lurk indoors. That is why this exercise will be of great importance to you all!"

He takes a small breath before continuing. "You'll now be split off into Hero and Villain teams, and face off in two-on-two indoor battles!"

"So no basic training?" Tsu had asked, looking at the man and tilting her head.

"Practical experience teaches you the basics!"

Then a barrage of questions from curious students arrives.

"What determines victory?"

"How much stuff can I blow up?!"

"Are you going to threaten to expel us like Aizawa Sensei…?"

"How will we divide the teams?"

"Doesn't my cape look fabulous?"

"One question at a time! My quirk isn't super hearing!" All Might then pulls out a sheet of paper, causing some students to laugh at the number one hero needing to check his lesson notes.

He explains how the trials will work. Saying that the time limit for each match is fifteen minutes and the heroes need to capture the villains bomb. "And we will decide the battle partners by drawing lots!"

After that, everyone in class draws a lot, deciding who their teammate will be, Izuku ends up teamed with Uraraka. 'At least I ended up with somebody I know! And our quirks should work well together!'

"Yay! I'm glad I get to be your teammate, Midori! Let's do our best!" She pumps her fist in the air.

"Y-Yeah! Let's do it…!" Izuku blushes and pumps his fist in the air as well, much more awkwardly than his cheery partner.

"All right… It's time to pick the first two teams who will be fighting!" he takes out two boxes and makes a dramatic showing of pulling out two different balls.

"Team C will be the villains! And team B will be the heroes!" Everyone looks over to the teams he's talking about.

Team C consisted of Momo Yaoyorozu and Kyouka Jirou.

And team C was Mezou Shouji and… Shoto Todoroki… Nobody wanted to have to be the one to fight the ice user so seeing that he was already going to fight was somewhat of a relief.

Nobody envied Yaoyorozu or Jirou's position right now, they had all seen the sheer power Todoroki held at the quirk assessment.

Regardless, it was now time for the first battle. Both of the team's head out into the battlefield.

'Can Yaoyorozu really stand a chance against someone like Todoroki? Her quirk is amazing but against such raw power I don't know if she'll be able to win… she seems pretty intelligent though, maybe she has a plan? Oh, I'm mumbling. People are staring at me…' he blushes and turns away, reaching a hand up to forcibly cover his stupid mouth.

Fight One.

Momo Yaoyorozu is smart. It's because of this intelligence that she's able to recognize she stands no chance against someone like Todoroki in a normal fight.

This isn't a normal fight though. The villain team might seem like it's at a disadvantage, but it has an extra five minutes to prepare for the match. Those five minutes will decide everything.

She turns to her partner, Jirou. "Hello! I have a plan in mind. Do you want to discuss the details…?"

The smaller girl blushes and nods, she seemed to have been staring at her for some reason. "I uhh.. yeah! That sounds good to me!"

Yaoyorozu claps her hands together and smiles. "That's great! Let's get started then, we only have five minutes to prepare everything so we'll have to be quick. Oh also, can you act as a sort of lookout using your quirk?"

"Yeah…! I can do that!" Jirou nods her head "My quirk should allow me to hear where everyone in this building is located."

And with that, they began to set the stage for their battle. Momo Yaoyorozu can't beat Todoroki in a normal battle. But if she has time to prepare, she just might manage.

Shoto Todoroki had already discussed his strategy with his partner, it was simple. Shouji would use his quirk to find the room where the bomb was located, then all he had to do was freeze the building and trap his opponents.

After the five minutes had ended he heard All Might's voice booming over some sort of intercom. "And… begin! Hero team, you have fifteen minutes to locate and secure the bomb!"

"Okay. Shouji, use your quirk now." The multi-armed boy nods his head and silently does as told, lifting an ear to the walls.

After a few seconds he pulls back the ear. "Third floor, second hallway. They're in the final room on the left." he relays the information calmly to his partner.

"Great." And with that he unleashed a massive burst of ice, covering the entire surface of the building up to the third floor, focusing it in the area were the bomb should be.

"Thank you, Shouji. It would be best for you to stay out here now while I deal with them."

Todoroki casually strolls through the frozen building, making his way up multiple flights of stairs to reach the room Shouji had told him about. He grabs a hold on the metal doors handle and tries pulling the door open.

It wasn't budging, 'Yaoyorozu must have used her quirk to create a barricade for the door so I couldn't get in. That's not enough to stop me though.'

He touches the door, covering it in a thick sheet of ice and then kicks. Hoping that freezing the door would make whatever was blocking it more frail. It still didn't budge. 'Of course she would use a cold resistant metal to barricade the door. Why did I even think that would work?' The ice user sighs and racks his brain for a solution only to decide on what seems like the easiest option.

"If I can't break the door I'll just break the wall around it…" And with a cold breath he unleashes a burst of ice, shattering the concrete wall before walking through the opening.

What he saw inside the room completely shocked him. He had expected both of his opponents to simply be frozen in ice, but instead the room was swelteringly hot. He saw Jirou and Yaoyorozu standing side by side in front of the bomb. 'And- Oh.'

Momo Yaoyorozu was standing before him, holding a fucking flamethrower.

"Now, Jirou! Do it!" The ponytailed girl yells to her partner and Todoroki watches Jirou throw something at him that hits him in his chest. 'Was that supposed to hurt?' He looks down at his feet where the object had dropped. And it was a grenade. At least, it sure looked like one.

He quickly jumps back, using his trained reaction times to throw up a wall of ice, he hears the blast of an explosion against his ice, the ice wall shatters and the shards look like they're covered in some strange substance.

"It didn't work! Jirou, another one!" Yaoyorozu yells to her partner, who in turn readies another grenade to be thrown.

"I won't let that happen!" he unleashes a blast of ice. Attempting to cover them both and restrict their movement.

Yaoyorozu pulls the trigger on her flamethrower, a massive blast of flames meeting with his ice and melting it. "Now! Throw!"

Jirou threw another one of the grenades at him, this one exploding in midair too quickly for Todoroki to properly react. He flinched as the grenade blew up right in front of his eyes. Strangely, it didn't hurt, he opened his eyes to see he was covered in some sort of thick goo.

He tries to move his arms and legs but he can't. Whatever was in that grenade had completely restrained him. He was helpless. He tries unleashing another wave of ice at Yaoyorozu. Even if he's restricted, he can still use his quirk.

She counters it with another burst of flames, the ice melting before it could even reach her location. And while he was distracted fighting her, Jirou had came up behind him and wrapped him in the capturing tape.

A voice blares over the intercom, it was All Might. "Shoto Todoroki! Captured!" The intercom buzzes off.

Yaoyorozu comes to him and smiles apologetically. "I'm sorry, Todoroki! I couldn't think of any other way to counter your quirk. She takes out a bottle of some strange liquid, pouring it over him.

"This will dissolve the sludge you're stuck in." And it does, he shivers as he feels the ooze melt and fall off from his body, freeing him from his encasement.

"It's okay Yaoyorozu. You did what you had to do to win. I understand." He stays wrapped in capturing tape, sitting on the ground until the match ends. The intercom blaring to life once more with All Might's voice.

"The match is over! The villain team has won! Please come back to the observation room so we can discuss the results of the match!" And it was off. All four of the students from the hero and villain team coming back to their class.

Meanwhile, in the observation room, most of the class stood watching in shocked silence. The only noise in the room was Izuku's distracting mumblings from the back. Several students have told him he's mumbling but they haven't been able to get him to stop for more than a minute.

'Wow! I really underestimated Yaoyorozu. Her quirk is super powerful, sure, but she's strong in her own right! Her quirk isn't the only impressive thing about her, that plan was genius! I can't even think of a way Todoroki could have countered that attack. Maybe if he brought Shouji with him…?' He's so distracted by his thoughts he doesn't notice the fact that most of the class had shifted to the opposite side of the room from him and his muttering.

His ramblings stop when he hears the observation room door opening, the competitors from the match walking inside. The rest of the class also turns to look, sharing some comments about the match.

"Wow! Yaoyorozu, you're amazing! That was so cool! The way you used that flamethrower was totally badass!" Mina chanted and bounced over to her.

"Yeah, dude! That fight was totally manly! It really gets my blood pumping!" Kirishima grins while bringing his hardened fists together.

Yaoyorozu blushes under the weight of her classmates' compliments. "Ah! Thank you very much…! I-I wouldn't have been able to do it without Jirou though, she deserves some credit too…"

Jirou is standing next to Yaoyorozu with a nervous smile on her face. Though Izuku could swear he saw her glare at Mina when she hugged Yaoyorozu.

After everyone in class finished talking about the match, All Might spoke up. "So who can tell me who the MVP of this match was?" He looks through his students, most of them choose to stay silent.

Izuku nervously raises his hand up. "U-Umm… Yaoyorozu was clearly the MVP of this match! She calculated how her opponent would act and used her quirk accordingly. She made all the necessary tools and weapons in order to restrict her opponent. While Todoroki's strategy wasn't bad, he failed to properly account for the quirks and abilities of his opponents."

All Might nods his head, and the rest of his classmates stare at him. "Yes, you are completely correct, Young Midoriya! Yaoyorozu was the MVP of this match! Though everyone did a great job! Todoroki's strategy was not entirely without merit! Against a less prepared opponent he may have even won!" All Might takes a moment before turning to the boxes with the team letters in them.

"Well then… let's see who will be competing next!" He reaches into the boxes and pulls out two letters. "Team J will be the villains against team H as the heroes!"

The class looks to see who those teams are. Iida and Sero are together as team J against Asui and Tokoyami on team H.

'This will be an interesting match! I'm curious how Iida will perform as a villain. He always seems so serious.' Izuku begins to mutter as he looks over at Asui and Tokoyami. 'They seem like a really well rounded team though. This could go either way.'

Both of the teams headed out of the observation room and into the training grounds. He waved goodbye to his friend as he left to partake in his match.

Fight Two.

Tenya Iida hated the idea of being a villain with all his heart. There is a reason he was in the Hero Course, after all. But for this exercise he must think like a villain in order to become the best hero he can be.

'I will do my best and make my family proud! I will succeed and tell Tensei of my victory!' He cheers himself on, getting ready for the battle. He needs to get into character as a heinous villain for the purpose of this exercise.

And so, he hatches a scheme. If he is to play the role of villain then he will at least do it well.

He turns to his partner in crime, Hanta Sero. "Sero. I have a plan for how we can win this, I'm going to need your cooperation."

"Yeah, sure dude. I'm fine with whatever." Sero nods his head in a laid back manner, completely contradicting Iida's serious demeanor.

"I'm going to need you to trap this hallway with tape. Make sure it will be difficult for them to get through it all, I want it to buy a lot of time."

"Aye, Aye, captain!" Sero gives a joke salute and begins setting up his tape across the hallway.

Iida smiles under his costume, giving a comically evil laugh. "Those heroes will rue the day they dared to oppose me! Mwahaha!"

Tsuyu Asui stood outside the building next to Tokoyami, they had already discussed their plan of attack and are just waiting for the match to start.

They plan to search and find the bombs location, taking Iida and Sero on in a head-on duel. She's confident that both her and Tokoyami could restrict and capture Sero and Iida, and even if they can't, they'll just focus on securing the bomb.

Suddenly, the intercom rings and All Might's voice speaks to them. "Hero Team! You may begin! You have fifteen minutes to find and secure the bomb!"

"Let's go, ribbit." She hops forward into the building, Tokoyami following closely behind her.

"Let's start checking the rooms to see if we can find the bomb." Tokoyami speaks out, and they do, they spend a minute checking some doors on the first floor before they find something.

They're walking along the main room when they see a long hallway lined with tape all over, making it almost look like a scene from a heist film. And at the end of that hallway stood Iida in front of a door.

"That must be where the bomb is, ribbit." Tsu croaks out as Iida watches them.

"So you have finally arrived, heroes?! I was beginning to think you got too scared and ran off! Ha ha ha!" Tsu has to stifle a laugh at how ridiculous his villain performance is.

"As you can see, we have trapped this hallway! If you get stuck to this tape it will be incredibly easy to capture you!" he carries on with his monologue.

"This is all going according to my plan! Hahaha! I am a spider and you are simply flies caught in my web!"

Time is clicking down as Tsu and Tokoyami stand before the hallway. "Dark Shadow, can you cut down this tape with your claws?" Tokoyami calls out to his shadow.

"You got it!" The shadow does as told, cutting down all the tape with ease. Iida stands at the end of the hallway, baffled.

"H-How is this possible?! My carefully constructed plan?! Wiped out in one move!" he cries out, playing up the dramatics.

"Give up, villain. We will capture you." Tokoyami seems to be getting strangely into the role playing as well.

"No! I will not let you retrieve the bomb without a fight!" After saying that, Iida charges forward, his quirk flaring to life.

He launches a kick straight at Tokoyami's left arm, who just barely manages to bring Dark Shadow up to defend himself in time.

Before he has the time to recover, Iida delivers another kick, straight at Tokoyami's stomach, knocking the bird-headed boy backwards a few feet.

"Asui! Use your tongue to restrain him!" Tokoyami calls out to his partner as he picks himself back up.

"Sure thing," and with a quick response she shoots out her tongue, trying to lasso it around Iida. Unfortunately for her, Iida backs away just in time to dodge the attack.

"You are fast, heroes! But not fast enough to beat me!" He changes direction, spinning on his feet and aiming for Asui. He runs straight at her and aims a roundhouse kick straight at her legs.

She manages to hop just barely out of danger, his kick only grazing her, but while he's busy attacking her, Dark Shadow comes in from the side, head butting Iida and sending him flying farther back into the hallway, landing on his knees.

"I will never let myself be defeated by you, heroes! This is all just part of my plan! Hahaha!" Iida lets out an over dramatic laugh as he gets back up onto his feet.

Tokoyami turns to her and whispers a plan. "I'll attack head on with Dark Shadow, climb onto the walls and capture him from behind while he's distracted."

"Time is running out heroes! You don't have long left!" Just as Iida had said that, Tokoyami charges forward with Dark Shadow, it's claws extended and slashing at Iida, seeming to do some significant damage.

"Gah! You damned hero!" Iida let's out a pained gasp, performing a large kick straight to Dark Shadow and knocking it back, giving himself some space.

Unfortunately, while distracted by Dark Shadow, Asui had snuck behind him, exactly as planned. She sticks out her tongue and wraps it around his legs.

"Now! Get him!" she speaks surprisingly clearly, despite her tongue not being in her mouth. Tokoyami follows her directions, running up and wrapping the capturing tape around Iida.

"Tenya Iida! Captured!" All Might's voice blared over the speakers in the building.

Asui gives out a sigh of relief as the voice speaks. Finally, the fight was over. But to both hers and Tokoyami's surprise, Iida let out a loud laugh.

"Mwahahaha! This is all part of my plan! What you find behind that door may shock you, heroes!" he kept laughing, clearly playing up a character.

'Well, only one way to find out.' Tsu opened the door, her partner behind her as they step inside.

And…

It's empty. The room was completely empty. No bomb in sight.

"He tricked us, ribbit. He made us think the bomb was in here just to waste our time." Tsu speaks calmly as she observes the room.

They quickly head out, leaving a tied up Iida on the first floor. But, despite their best efforts they couldn't even search through half of the second floor before the intercom blared to life.

"The match is over! The villain team wins! Please come back to the observation room so we can discuss the results of the match!" All Might repeats the same message as in the last round. After everything that happened, the hero team didn't even see Sero once.

In the observation room Izuku was still muttering about the match, except unlike last time, Yaoyorozu was stood next to him, responding to his muttering as if it was completely normal.

'Wow… Iida really put on a performance! And his skills are no joke! He managed to stall for time against two people at once! And Tokoyami and Asui did great too! They really worked well as partners, even if they failed!'

Momo nods her head from next to him. "Yes, Iida was certainly impressive, his quirk is very powerful. Tokoyami and Asui did a great job of fending off his attacks, especially Asui, her tongue makes for an incredibly effective capture weapon."

Uraraka looks at them with a look that is somehow a mix of jealousy and confusion while the rest of the class just stares at the two of them like they're crazy.

"How is Yaoyorozu even keeping up with what Izuku is saying? I can't understand a word of it." Kaminari commented on the interaction.

"That's just how Yaoyorozu is, she's smart enough to keep up with him, I guess" Jirou praised her partner for her ability to somehow hold a "conversation" with Midoriya.

Eventually all of the participants from the match returned, Sero looking a bit upset that he didn't get to see any action.

Izuku turns and walks over to his serious friend, smiling. "You did great, Iida! That performance was amazing! You almost, sort of, seemed like a villain"

"Thank you very much Midoriya! Though it weighs heavily on my conscience that I had to act in such an unheroic manner." Iida looks almost embarrassed after winning the trial.

"Alright! Who can tell me who the MVP of the match was?" All Might looks to his class and sees Yaoyorozu's hand raised. "Yes, Yaoyorozu?"

She then proceeds to go on a very long winded discussion about how Iida was the MVP and how well he had performed his role. (Which, for the sake of brevity, I am choosing not to write.)

All of the indirect compliments from Yaoyorozu had made Iida choke back tears of joy. It was certainly funny seeing the serious boy get so emotional over the discussion of his abilities.

All Might was left slightly stunned and just nodded his head. "Uhh yes… you said it better than I could! Let's move onto the next battle then, shall we?"

All Might reaches back into the boxes and pulls out two more teams. "Team A will be the villains and Team D will be the heroes!"

Team A was Izuku's team with Uraraka! It was finally his turn! He was so excited! He doesn't remember who was on Team D though.

He looks at the list of teams and… 'Oh. Of course. It's Kacchan's team.' He's partnered together with Kirishima, the guy with the hardening quirk who was always talking about manliness.

Izuku didn't believe in a higher power, but he was pretty sure he was starting to. And he was also starting to believe that whatever higher power it is absolutely hates him.

He walks out of the observation room with Uraraka, waving goodbye to Iida and Yaoyorozu.

Fight Three.

Izuku had five minutes to prepare a strategy on how to defeat both Kacchan and Kirishima. He honestly had no idea what to do.

"Hey uhh.. Midori…? Are you okay? You look pretty stressed out right now." Uraraka seemed concerned about him. 'She's so nice, wow… Wait, I don't have time to worry about that! Just come up with a plan already! Stupid brain!'

"I'm fine Uraraka, I was just thinking about telling you a zero gravity pun, I decided not to." He gives her a small smile as he checks a map of the building layout.

"Hmm? Why did you decide not to tell me it? I'm super curious now!" She pouts at him and he grins.

"It wouldn't have landed."

"That's so stupid!" EmShe giggles at the joke despite saying it was stupid. Her laugh honestly helped to calm him down.

"Okay… I think I have a plan in mind now, I'm gonna need you to float a lot of stuff though." he turns to her. "Can you do that? I-It's fine if you can't!"

"Yeah sure! Just point to it and I'll make it float!"

"Great! Also, do you think you can beat Kirishima in a one-on-one fight…? Kacchan will probably end up ditching his partner, and I want the fight to end up being just me and Kacchan… I think I have a better chance that way."

He checks the building layout one last time, nodding as he chooses the spot for the bomb.

"Yeah! I can beat him easy peasy! l just need to get close and touch him in order to win, and he has no long range options!"

"Perfect." Now all he needed to do was get into character like Iida did and he's set. 'This will be fine! Plus, there's a pretty big loophole in the rules of the exercise if I get desperate… though that kind of feels like cheating.'

Katsuki Bakugou was more than ready to kick that nerd's ass. Who cares about capturing the bomb?! All he needs to do is beat down Deku and his lame partner.

"Hey man! Do you wanna work out a plan or something?" His partner, Shitty Hair, calls out from next to him. Like hell.

"No way, extra! Just stay out of my way so I can kick Deku's ass! Focus on gravity girl or whatever."

"Yeah sure thing man, I uhh… guess I can do that. Also, why're you calling Midoriya 'Deku'?" Kirishima looks slightly put off by Katsuki's attitude. 'Like I care.'

"Because the nerd is useless. Don't ask stupid questions."

And then the intercom finally fucking went off. "Hero Team! You may begin! You have fifteen minutes to find and secure the bomb!"

And off he went, Shitty Hair kept following behind him. "I said to stay away! Stay on the first floor, I'll come to you if I somehow end up needing your help."

Kirishima, for all his efforts, eventually gives up, rubbing the back of his head and nodding, staying back on the first floor as Bakugou heads up without him. 'Perfect.'

All he needs to do now is find where the dork is and crush him. He keeps looking through the floors, not finding any sign of Deku. Though some of the rooms do feel strangely empty.

Finally, he makes it to the sixth floor and he finds the hallway where Deku is. It's a long corridor like the one Iida had fought in, except instead of a door behind Izuku there was only the bomb. And the hallway is absolutely littered with floating office supplies of all sizes, from printers to pencils.

"Hello Kacchan, it's so great to see you!" The nerd waves and smiles, giving him a manic grin. "I'm glad you didn't decide to blow off our meeting. Hehe."

"Where's your partner, Deku?!"

"Oh, she's probably busy capturing yours right about now." He giggles like a schoolgirl right before the intercom turns on in the hallway.

"Eijiro Kirishima! Captured!" The intercom turned off as soon as it had turned on. 'So what? Shitty Hair was useless anyways.'

Though, this whole thing was fucking weird, the nerd was never this confident. What was this act he's pulling? It was beginning to piss him off.

"I don't care about him! Do you seriously think all this floating junk will be enough to stop me, Deku?!

"No I don't think so at all Kacchan, I know it is." And there's that smile again. This trial was getting more annoying by the second.

And then, without warning, the loser uses his quirk, pushing a printer straight at him. Except, this wasn't like when he usually used his quirk, that thing was absolutely skyrocketing at him.

He can't react in time. The printer slams into his gut and knocks him back more than a few feet, Katsuki coughs and yells in pain as he lands on his back. "Shitty Deku! You'll never be better than me!" He stands up and lets an explosion out from his palm, blasting away some of the junk in the room.

Except Deku was ready for that, through the smoke of the explosion a flower pot came straight at his chest, hitting against him and shattering, some of the shards cutting his arm and making him take a step back.

"You seem to be having a tough time, Kacchan. Wanna give up?" And god, Katsuki absolutely hated the tone in that loser's voice. That stupid smile was still on his face. As if he was finding this whole thing so fucking funny.

'We'll see who's laughing after this, Deku' He lifts up his left arm and grins, readying his gauntlet to let out a massive fucking explosion.

"These gauntlets have been storing up my sweat the entire match! You better be ready to dodge, Deku!"

All Might yells out over the intercom "Young Bakugou! Stop it now! Are you trying to kill him?!"

"He won't die if it isn't a direct hit!" And he pulls the trigger. A massive explosion firing into the hallway, engulfing everything. All of the junk Deku left floating in the air was shattered into nothing but rubble.

But then the smoke clears up, and Deku is standing at the other end of the hallway grinning like a crazed lunatic.

"Nice try, Kacchan! But that's not enough to stop me!" He looks completely uninjured, his costume is charred, and more than half of his cape has burnt but he looks fine. And the bomb is still floating in the air behind him.

"It doesn't matter, nerd! You can't do shit without that floating junk!"

"Oh really? Is that what you think? You aren't the only one who got some tools for their costume, Kacchan!" Deku reaches into his utility belt.

And he pulls out something that looks like a small, metal marble.

Izuku Midoriya was, frankly, stressed as hell right now. Kacchan had just managed to blow away all of the obstacles he had set up and all he had left was the gear he requested from the support course.

Also, he had just used his quirk to literally push Kacchan's explosion away from him. There was a massive migraine aching in his head right now because of that.

'Let's hope this actually works…'

He reaches and takes out a small marble from his belt, watching Kacchan stare at it in confusion. And then he clenched his fist around the marble.

It ballooned in his hand. Growing to about the size of a cannonball. And Izuku beamed. 'They actually made it! This is perfect!'

He lifts the ball up, aiming at Kacchan and pushing. "You won't die if it isn't a direct hit!" he mocks, repeating his bully's words and playing up his villain persona.

The cannonball launches straight at Kacchan, who just barely managed to use an explosion and dodge out of the way. "You shitty nerd!" The ball hits the wall behind him, shattering the concrete like it was glass.

"Good dodge, Kacchan! Let's see if you can do another!" he reaches into his belt, pulling out two more marbles. He takes one in each hand and squeezes his fists.

They grow and he now has two more metal balls in his hands, he throws the first in the air before pushing it at Kacchan. He predictably dodges in the opposite direction.

"Uh oh, that was a mistake, Kacchan!" He uses his quirk again and launches the second ball straight at the blonde, who was still in the middle of dodging the first. It collided directly with him. Hitting with a satisfying smack as Kacchan goes flying back with the ball. His body slamming against the wall.

"You… shitty… Deku…" Bakugou breathes out, coughing up some blood as he readies himself, weakly getting back up on his feet. "I… won't... let you win!"

And before Izuku could react, the explosive blonde had lifted his right arm and pulled the trigger on his other gauntlet. 'Frick! Quick! Push it away!'

Izuku desperately activates his quirk just in time. Pushing away all the air and ash around him as the explosion is let loose.

He's left burnt and slightly bruised, but he had avoided the worst of the attack. The problem was his mind. Pushing away air is a lot more difficult than you would think. It's not like pushing away one large object. It's like pushing away trillions of small, insignificant objects all at once. It was exhausting.

The migraine from before is practically eating him alive at this point, and he can swear there's some blood leaking from his nose. He can't last much longer. He's on the verge of losing consciousness.

'I'm going to have to bend the rules… I hate to do this but… there's no other… way…' he's struggling to even think with how badly this migraine hurts.

"You might defeat me, Kacchan. But… you won't win." he gives his ex-childhood friend a manic grin and turns around to the floating bomb behind him.

Using the last of his strength, he pushes the bomb as hard as he can. Which, as a result of it having zero gravity, sends the thing absolutely flying. Breaking through the wall of the hallway and soaring off to god knows where.

"What the hell did you just do, Deku?! You fucking cheater!" Bakugou launches at him, seeming like he's about to attack.

"There's nothing in the rules… saying we have… to keep the bomb in the building the whole time…" Izuku's voice is weak and frail, he clearly didn't have any energy left as he explained his plan.

And then he passed the fuck out.

When he wakes up he's staring at the ceiling of Recovery Girls office, just like after the entrance exam. Great. He slowly sits up, trying desperately not to upset his aching head. He looks around and sees Recovery Girl sitting at her desk.

"Umm… Recovery Girl…? What happened in the match after I passed out?" His head is throbbing, but he's desperate to know how it all ended.

"Oh! You're awake!" She turns around to the boy. "You won the trial, though All Might did have to change the rules for the next two battles after that stunt." She chuckles and Izuku can't help but smile. "Apparently the fake bomb had ended up two miles away from the site." She relays the information she's been told about the match.

"How are you feeling though, dear? I wasn't able to use my quirk on you since you were unconscious and I didn't want to risk draining you of too much energy." She questions him.

"I'm fine!" he lied. His entire body was aching.

"Okay then, I'm going to use my quirk on you and give you some medicine before you head back to class. The day is almost over." She leans forwards, giving him a kiss on the cheek, he feels all his bruises and burns fading away.

'Recovery girls quirk is so amazing! It's because she works here that U.A. is even allowed to do classes like this.' He sits up and takes some medicine that Recovery Girl hands him. He recognizes it as the same medicine he took on the entrance exam.

After he took the pills and drank some water she had said he was good to go. He headed back to the classroom to pack his things and leave for the day.

When he arrives at the classroom and walks inside he's immediately swarmed by several of his classmates, some of them who he's never even spoken to before.

"That fight was amazing Midoriya! You looked totally awesome when you were using your quirk! I can't believe you lasted so long against Bakugou in a one-on-one fight!" A pink girl who Izuku recognizes as Ashido runs up to him.

Then Yaoyorozu came up to him as well. "You did amazing, Midoriya! Your fight was incredible! Your support gear was especially inventive, it was a sight to see!" she smiles at him.

"Yeah dude! That was totally radical!" Kaminari gave him a wide grin and a thumbs up.

"Radical? Seriously? What, are you from the 1900's?" Jirou mocks him and laughs.

"S-Shut up! I thought it sounded cool!"

"U-Uhh t-thanks everyone! It was nothing! I just had to push myself a little harder than usual!" The previous cheery comments were replaced with groans at his half-baked pun. Though he recognized Uraraka's chuckle from farther back.

"Midori! Are you feeling okay? That match was crazy! I saw that Bakugou blew you up a few times!" Uraraka came up to him to see if he was okay, a worried expression on her face.

"I-I'm fine! But yeah, that match was crazy… it was totally a blast." he gives Uraraka a grin to show that he was feeling better and she giggles at his lame joke. Everyone else has already started leaving the room.

"I'm glad! I'll talk to you tomorrow! See ya Midori!" And with that, he was alone in the classroom to pack his things. Once he's done he heads out.

He walks out the doors of U.A. only to see Kacchan there in front of him. His tired brain decides it's a bright idea to call out to his ex-childhood friend.

"K-Kacchan! I'm sorry if I went too hard on you in the fight! I wasn't really thinking!" Izuku calls out to his blonde bully and bows.

Katsuki turns and glares at him, but for a few seconds he stays uncharacteristically quiet. "Shut up, Deku… You beat me! I lost!" he yells out, Izuku can recognize tears forming in the blonde boys eyes.

"I lost! And that Icy-Hot bastard and Ponytail girl! I can't even measure up to them! Dammit!" he yells out, and Izuku flinches. This was weird, Kacchan was never the type to show this much emotion…

"Dammit all! From now on… I'm going to beat you all! You hear me?! I won't lose ever again! So enjoy your fucking win, it won't happen again!" And after stating that he began walking away.

'Wow… I didn't even know Kacchan was capable of feeling complex emotions, and here he is admitting his own weaknesses…'

Interrupting Izuku's thoughts a blonde blur speeds past him, he quickly turns to see what it was and recognizes it was All Might, his hand on Katsuki's shoulder.

"Kid! Let me tell you… that sort of self-respect is important! You certainly have the makings of a great Pro! From now on you just have to…" But before All Might could finish his sentence, Katsuki spoke up.

"Get off me, All Might… I can't walk." All Might flinched at the young boy's cold attitude.

"It goes without saying… I'll become a hero who can surpass even you. I'll be the best." Then Kacchan had turned and walked away, leaving All Might and him in a stunned silence.

After that surprising interaction, Izuku had finally gotten on the train and came home. He almost immediately fell into his bed, even if Ferrous had meowed out some protests about stealing it back from her. He almost instantly fell asleep, Recovery Girl's quirk sure did a number on you…

And with that, the second day at U.A High School had ended. Little did anyone know, there was darkness looming around the corner.
