Last two years of Brandon's life were like a bunch ofa scenes from a movie or some badly written book. He knew being in love with a girl that was his sister now was not the smartest move, but he also felt in his gut that two of them are inevitable. He still felt weak in his knees when he saw her, he still wrote all of his music for her and even the ones he wrote for the band were about her. Since the adoption and the story about them being intimate got out, they were under more control than ever before. Stef and Lena didn't forgive Brandon for sleeping with Callie and somehow, all of their anger and disappointment were directed at him and almost nothing at her. Brandon was glad she was out of the woods because he feared what would happen to Callie now if they annul the adoption and after Robert giving up his rights. She was scared of going back to the foster care and she feared being separated from Jude that was adopted by his family for some time now. He loved knowing Callie would not leave their house and that moms just watched over her more than usual. He knew their phones were being cloned into mom's so Stef could read the messages. But what their mothers and the rest of the siblings didn't know or ignored was the fact they could communicate with just looking at one another.

After Brandon turned eighteen, he got inheritance from Frank and that came at the right moment for him. He needed distance from his mothers, siblings and especially from Callie. Living with Callie and not being able to be with her was tiring. Even more tiring was paying attention to every single thing he says or move he makes so someone wouldn't interpret it in the wrong way. He avoided being close to her so he wouldn't get them in some trouble with the moms and he noticed that even Callie was not relaxed with him. As soon as he got the paperwork from the lawyer, he packed some of his things and spent the night in the house. Frank did a lot of work in the house, so the work left for Brando to do was minor compered to what his grandfather already did. He spent his spare time fixing it and slowly redecorating. He was clear with his moms that he doesn't want their help or input and that this was supposed to be his home. Stef and Lena were very hurt that Brandon didn't let them have anything to do with the house. He told them they will see the house when he finishes all he wants to do with it. Frank left him nice amount of money so he could work on the house without thinking too much about the costs of things. After he got a clear idea what he wanted to do with the house and how much work he would do, now, during the holiday between his graduation and beginning of the college. Mariana, Callie and Jesus went to the house to clear up what he didn't want or need in there. Moms offered but he turned them down. And no matter how much Stef protested, he stood his ground. He didn't want them there. Stef was drinking her coffee feeling angry and hurt and Lena took a seat beside her and took her hand.

''Remember first place you ever had. You wanted to do things by yourself… You can't be angry at him for wanting the same. No parents somehow goes with the territory of having your own place.''

''My first place was after I married Mike… So, no… I never had my own place.''

''Well, I did and I didn't want anyone there until I made it into a home.''

''I know, but it felt like he doesn't want us around, not just at his place.''

''You are imagining things Stef.''

Lena didn't want to believe it was true. Brandon was their son and of course he wanted them. She saw this as his attempt to be independent and do things by himself.

As expected, Mariana and Jesus stayed until the first phone call to hang out with their friends and that left Brandon and Callie alone in the house.

''So, where do you want to start?''

''I think the most important things are master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen… We can clean at least so I can use those rooms and them we can slowly throw things away.''

Callie just nodded and went to the kitchen.

''Let's see what we need to buy in the store so we can start this.''

There were some cleaning supplies under the sink and they got some things they needed on the way to the house so the adventure of turning the house into the home started with the kitchen. It took them about three hours to clean up everything and throw away what Callie believed he didn't need. Frank had some old dishes and pans that were ready to be thrown out and she also made list of new dishes to be bought. Brandon washed the fridge and freezer and Callie made list of groceries. They both laughed when they realized that moms would definitely not approve of many things on the list. Lena would tell them that there is too much sweets and sodas and too little vegetables. Callie went upstairs to start with the bedroom and Brandon went outside to get the trash bags out and check if he needed something for the garden too. She was mainly focused on cleaning the room and making list of things Brandon would need. He would definitely need new bed sheets and comforter. He would need to get also new towels and products he wants to use for showering and shampoo. She also put on her list detergent for dishes, dishwasher and laundry. She told him to check the spare room if washing machine and dryer were plugged and he did that. After cleaning the bedroom, she got downstairs and it was time to go and buy all the things from the list. Brandon drove them to the store and they took big cart and started putting things from the list in it. She got him three sets of sheets four pillows, comforter, quilt for the cold weather and one for when it gets warmer. In his cart they were putting food and the rest of the things that couldn't fit Callie's. Ride home was interesting because Brandon's tiny car was full. He and Callie went overboard and got many things that were not on the list. He parked the car in garage and they started unloading. Callie told him to start with groceries because they had some frozen ones and they should be in the freezer as soon as possible. He helped with the bags and placed them on the kitchen table. Callie took care of putting the food away and he kept unloading the car. He was placing things on the dining room table so they would sort them later. He would glance at Callie and just enjoy seeing her that domesticated in his house. Actually, Callie being there made Frank's house into a home. After she was done with the food, she went to dining room and started with the rest of the bags. She was unpacking and Brandon was taking things where she told him. It was fun to play house like that. She put the sheets in the washing machine and turned it on. She really felt like it was their home they were decorating and preparing for life together. Brandon was in the living room putting the surround system together and she watched him from the dining room and she could imagine this really being their home with one or two kids and unimaginable happiness they could give each other. She could see them cuddling on the sofa and laughing about something. She could see them in the spring or summer sitting on the back porch and reading their books. She could see them in the living room having a sing along by the piano. She could see them growing old together in this house. Loud sound interrupted her daydreaming. In reality, they were not a couple preparing a home for themselves, they were brother and sister and she was still in love with him.

After he finished setting all that up, he suggested Callie that they order pizza. She was very supportive of that idea and they could finally take two smaller ones with different toppings. Usually in the house moms would order four big ones and they would be cheese and pepperoni ones and that was it. Now they could order anything. After they placed the order, Callie went back to the kitchen to load the dishwasher with new dishes they got and to finish clearing up the mess from the bags, wrappers and other things their stuff was in. Just before the pizza came, she made his bed with fresh set of black sheets that they just got. Room smelled like wild flower softener and Callie loved how it all turned out. Just before he died, Frank got Otis wooden sleigh bed frame and matching nightstands with two drawers and these black sheets gave the bed and the room different look. Callie got Brandon to buy sheer white curtains and she even managed to put them on without having to call Brandon for help. She couldn't wait to show him the room now. It looked like adult bedroom. She stood by the door and admired new look of the room when Brandon called her to come down. It was time to make a short break and eat the pizza that just came. They took it to the kitchen table and Brandon got them glasses for the soda.

''I really love that Jesus and Mariana are not here.''

" Why?''

''Because we work in the same way. With two of them it would be too loud and hard to work. And Mariana would do zero work and just boss us around.''

Callie laughed at that.

''Yes, I think she would enjoy to boss around and tell us what to do and she and Jesus would argue all the time.''

''Yes!''

Brandon took some of his pizza and just looked at Callie eating.

''What?''

''Nothing… It's stupid.''

''Brandon, you can tell me…''

''I don't know Callie… ''

''Just tell me…''

''For a moment it felt like we were working on our house.''

Callie just looked at him. She felt the same and also believed it was stupid.

''For a moment it felt like it…''

''So, let's make it ours…''

''What?''

''Yes, let's make this our house…''

''Brandon…''

''Callie, listen to me… I get it… You had to be adopted because you were sick and tired of system screwing you over… But now you have just few weeks until you turn eighteen. After that, you are free and you don't have to worry about anything. No one can take you away or prevent you from seeing Jude.''

He took her hand and kissed it.

''We are in college… You got scholarship and you have part time job in LA waiting for you after you get there. Robert made sure you have your income. You are not depending on moms and plus you have money from Robert I know for a fact you barely touched. You told me he has been depositing money into your account and you used some small amount for the gas when you didn't have any money on the card moms gave you. You have back up cash and he is in your life now so you don't depend on moms in any way. They have nothing to blackmail us with anymore. I love you Callie, I haven't stopped and there is not a day that I don't regret telling you to call him and let him be your dad. Your adoption was one of the worst days in my life… I want to be with you…I want to be with you long-term… I want a life with you Callie and I want to make this house our home… What do you say?''

Just listening to him made her cry. Yes, she knew she should see him as a brother, but there was no chance for that now. She was in love with Brandon, she loved him as a man, not as a brother. Jesus and Jude were her brothers and Brandon was her love, her lover, someone she needed and craved for almost a year at that time and she couldn't lie to herself anymore.

''Yes, I say yes…''

Brandon pulled her into a kiss and they kissed for a long time. They missed each other so much that they couldn't keep their hands away. It has been a year since Idyllwild. She got up from her chair and offered her hand to Brandon. He took it and she pulled him on his feet and took him toward the stairs and into the bedroom. They ended up kissing again and taking off each other's clothes and just being very inpatient about being together again. He wanted her more than he dared to admit and so did she. They got into the bed and made love after more than a year. He wanted to kiss and touch every part of her body. She wanted a reminder of how good it felt to be in the arms of the person who really loves you and sees his entire world in you and life with you. He was kissing her shoulders and neck and constantly repeating with few curse words how much he missed her or loved her. It made her cry. The entire experience made her cry made her remember their night in the cabin and how happy they were.

''Promise me that you will not back out now Callie, please…''

''I promise…I can't give you up, even if I wanted… I really love you too Brandon and I don't want to be without you ever again.''

They spent the rest of the day in bed making love, cuddling and making planes how they would pull off being in a relationship without family knowing. An idea came few moments later when Callie got text from Sofia. She asked her if they could meet because she has something to talk about. Sofia was still in therapy since her suicide attempt(s) and part of that was making amends. Yes, she spoke to Callie before and Callie did forgive her for ripping the papers, but this was part of something else. Her therapist believes she should check in with the family every two months and work on better relationship with them. So she had to spend an entire day with one of her family members focused on their relationship and doing things that would help them bond. Sofia wanted to see when Callie had time to spend that day with her since she was leaving for college very soon. Robert also wanted to know if she had time to spend with him and Jill too, aside from Sofia and her mandatory day together. Brandon noticed she was texting someone with a smirk.

''Is it Mariana with her life crisis?''

''No, it's Sofia… She is asking when can we have our day… And also when can I spend the day with all of them. Dad got a new grill and wants to cook for us… They hope to get some time with me before I move to UCLA.''

''We all do… You are so popular Miss Callie.''

''Oh, I know…''

She put the phone on the nightstand and got back into his arms. Her head was resting on his chest and they just stared at each other with stupid happy smiles.

''I love you B.''

''I love you too…''

''Are you coming home tonight or staying here?''

''I think I will stay… My first night in our home…''

That got her to smile at him again and then she turned sad again.

''What is it Call?''

''I wish I could stay with you…''

''Me too, but for now you have to go back to the house.''

Around nine thirty, Callie and Brandon were in his car and he was giving her a ride back to the Foster house.

''Are you coming in?''

''No, I will come tomorrow to start packing my room. I will give you a call.''

''Go and buy boxes and all the things for packing before you get to the house.''

''I might be there around noon, maybe a bit after…''

''Ok…''

They just squeezed each other's hand before she left the car. They knew there was a chance moms were watching from somewhere. Callie got into the house and as expected moms were in the living room.

''Look who just came home…''

''Hi…''

Lena was first to ask something about the house.

''So, how was it? Did you manage to get some work done?''

''Yes, we did a lot… We even managed to find some time for shopping. We got some stuff for the house.''

''Will he come home tonight?''

''No, he just gave me a ride. He is spending the night there and he will come tomorrow to help him pack the rest of his room.''

Stef didn't expect Brandon to be in such a rush to leave the house.

''He really likes this idea of having his own place.''

''Who wouldn't?''

''Is he having a party or something.''

Callie started laughing. How little Stef knew about her son.

''That would be a good guess if Mariana or Jesus moved out. I am sure he is on his way home now planning what movie to watch. He finally installed the TV and system Mike got him as graduating gift.''

''I can't believe he did it. I told him to give that money to Brandon, so he would have some extra money for New York.''

''Don't worry. He saved up some money from his piano lessons and he is still giving lessons so he will have money…plus there is money from Frank he didn't spend. He is covered and already checking up if there is some part time job in NY.''

Lena was surprised he was already thinking about it.

''Really?''

''Yes, he wants to keep all what Frank left him for the house. He has so many ideas what to do so he will fix things during holidays when he is here during some days off school.''

Stef still couldn't get over the fact he doesn't want them to help in any way.

''He can give us the keys and we can oversee it when he is at school. Why wait?''

''You know he has his own ideas what to do with the house and how to fix it.''

''I do, but we are his mothers. What is he hiding?''

''Nothing. He is just enjoying his independence.''

''From what?''

''Living with six more people and having to compromise on everything. I am sure he will take an hour long shower tomorrow just because he can or not make his bed for first few days just because he can and two of you are not there to tell him he has to.''

Both Steff and Lena rolled their eyes at Callie.

''It's easy for two of you. You don't share bathroom just with each other and you CAN take showers together. On the other hand, we have to wait for Jesus and Mariana to finish and it lasts… Bathroom for himself is a thing to look forward to. I know I love spending nights at Robert's house because I have room for myself and bathroom for myself. No Mariana asking million questions or listening to the music I don't like very loud because she lost ANOTHER pair of headphones… Imagine after that having a place where you can hear the silence. That is why he is staying there. He wants some silence and privacy.''

''Privacy? So someone is coming?''

''No, Stef! No one is coming… I said privacy because he is home alone and not sharing space with anyone.''

''Or he wants us to believe that.''

Callie had to laugh at that. Stef was right in a way, but she had no idea that the person he shares the space with is standing in front of them and is not at Brandon's house.

''Mom, let's be honest… There is not a person in this house that doesn't daydream about the day they would be alone in the house. Imagine waking up and house being silent. Having your coffee on the back porch and reading a book without anyone asking you where something is, can we go somewhere, can you give us some money, Mariana and Jesus arguing about why he took pancake she wanted or drank all the juice…''

Both women nodded at what Callie was saying. Yes, they missed the silence and quiet. Lena smiled at Callie.

''I think you might be right… I don't remember silent day in this house… Even when I work from home I have at least one of you kids here because you are sick or something.''

''See… I am going upstairs…''

''You are not hungry?''

''No, we had pizza for lunch and after that we heated the leftovers.''

''Ok… Have a good night.''

''You too moms.''

Callie started climbing stairs when she remembered something.

''I might spend the weekend at dad's. It's time for my and Sofia's day and plus dad wants to spend some time with me before I move. And also they are going to the Europe for a month. Jill has some shoots there.''

Before Stef could make some stupid comment, Lena spoke.

''Ok, honey. Thank you for telling us.''

''See you in the morning.''

She went upstairs and Stef looked at Lena.

''I don't like it.''

''What?''

''Her staying with Robert for the weekend.''

''He is her dad.''

''But she is our daughter.''

''I know but she is also his and Robert and Sofia are her only living relatives.''

Stef knew Lena was right, but she was a bit possessive when her kids were in question. She still had issues with Jesus and Mariana wanting to spend time at Mike's with Ana and the baby.

Callie entered the room and found Mariana on the bed texting someone like crazy.

''Hey…''

''Hey Callie… How was cleaning up?''

''Good… We even got to go shopping for some things in the house.''

''Some things? Like decorations?''

''Plants, curtains and stuff for the bathroom…''

''But I wanted to decorate.''

''You know Brandon would never let you decorate any space he occupies…''

''He has no taste.''

Callie smirked at that comment.

''Or he has different vision for the space than you do?''

''As I said, he has no taste…it's too bland.''

'' He likes it that way. We ordered some stuff for the living room walls. We packed away Franks paintings and ordered some prints. It will be so cool to hang them there.''

''What prints?''

''For the living room, he wanted some black and white photographs of New York. They would be in black frames to it will look good in the white walls and black sofa and chairs. In the dining room we wanted some Picasso black and white reproductions…''

''We?''

''Well, he asked my opinion.''

''So, you can decorate and I can't…?''

''I am not decorating… I am a tie breaker when he is not sure what he wants.''

Mariana just gave Callie a look. Since they all found out about Idyllwild two of them were under some sort of supervision by the entire family. And since no one could really pin them anything, except they all had a feeling about Callie and him. Lena's mother never stopped with her very unpleasant stares and both of them were sick and tired of the looks they were getting every time they were in the room alone. As soon as they saw that two of them were in the kitchen or in the living room alone, someone would magically appear. Jude, Mariana and moms were the ones all the time following them around and Jesus didn't really care. He didn't want to be part of it. Even after they ''talked'' about Idyllwild incident ''as a family'' he told them that he wants them happy and that for him Callie and Brandon would always be his brother and sister no matter what some paper says. His comment didn't sit well with moms and the rest of the Addams Foster siblings. They expected him to say that he is also against them dating.

''Is that all you are?''

''What are you implying Mariana?''

''I just don't want you to make the same mistake you did last time…''

''Mistake?''

''Yes, mistake… He is our brother…Things have been good for a year in this house. We finally had a moment to breath and not think about whether you would be adopted or run away or whatever…''

Callie had entire speech in her head ready as soon as Mariana said what she did, but she knew it's better for her to keep her mouth shot and lay low so she could have time with Brandon without interruptions and intruders. She went to her closet and took clean shirt and shorts.

''I am going to take a shower and wash this day away… I am so sore and tired…''

And with that she left the room. She took a chance that no one needed the bathroom so she took a longer shower than usual. When she came back to the room, Jude was there on her bed.

''Hey buddy… What's up?''

''Nothing. Mariana told me you came back so I came to see you.''

Callie took a seat on her bed and smiled at Jude.

''How was your day?''

''It was fun. Connor's mom took us to the zoo and then for lunch. We also had dinner at his new house. It's really nice.''

''I am glad you had fun.''

''And how about you? I know you spent a day with Brandon.''

''We didn't have that much fun. We spent a lot of time clearing up, cleaning up and going shopping for groceries and things for the house.''

''Is he coming back?''

''Tomorrow. He will come to the house with boxes. I will help him pack up his room and then move things to the house.''

''Oh, ok.''

''Why?''

''I thought we would go to the beach tomorrow…''

''We can go in the afternoon…''

''I can't. I am going with Connor and some friends to the movies.''

''We'll think of something next week.''

''What about weekend?''

''I am going to dad's…''

It was clear to Callie that Jude still didn't get used to the fact she has other family. He and Donald had very little contact so he didn't really understand why Callie wanted to spend time with Robert. Brandon did try to explain to him that two things had nothing to do with each other and that each person has their own way of handling things. He told him that Robert and Donald made different choices in life and that Robert didn't know Callie existed and Donald made wrong choices that landed him in jail, their mother dead and two of them in the system. Brandon also told him that he was sure that Robert would take care of both Callie and Jude if he knew what happened or that they existed. He told Jude that Robert was a good man who is trying to make up for the lost time with Callie and that he should be happy for Callie that she has family who cares about her. Unfortunately, Jude still didn't see it that way. He saw Quinns as someone who want to take Callie away from him and the rest of the Fosters.

''You really like spending time with them?''

''Yes, I do. Robert god a new grill and he wants to test it on us. And Jill wanted me to teach me some photography tricks. And there is Sofia too. I sort of missed her. I haven't seen her in three weeks. End of school year for both of us, my prom and all… We still didn't make any graduation party and there is also preparing for college.''

In days to follow, Brandon and Callie managed to squeeze few hours to be together but they both felt like it was too little time. They appreciated that the other person was not greedy regardless of how much they wanted to be together all the time. Brandon drove her to Robert's house on Friday and it was one more moment they could spend together.

''Call me on Sunday when you want me to pick you up.''

''Ok. I will…''

''Have a good time with the fam.''

''I will... And you don't have too much fun without me young man.''

''Young man? Wow! You sound like my grandfather did.''

She just gave him a look.

''I remind you of your grandfather?''

''Not you, but the look you gave me.''

''Mhm...''

They kissed and she left the car. Callie punched in the code for the gate and as soon as she entered she run into Sofia with a smirk.

''What?''

''Nothing…''

Callie just looked at her and walked toward the house.

''What are you doing by the gate?''

Sofia showed her the phone.

''I was on the phone.''

''Oh, who with?''

''Nobody…''

Now Callie was smirking.

''Ok… But I am glad that nobody can make you smile like that.''

''Shut up! You are the one to talk…''

''What does that mean?''

''Nothing… I am also very happy that you get all the brotherly love you can…''

Callie just rolled her eyes.

''Shut up!''

''I can't wait for dad to hear this story… It will definitely make my coming out less stressful for him.''

With that Sofia continued walking toward the house and Callie stopped for a minute. Coming out? Sofia was gay? She had no idea about that… Now Jude and Sofia finally had something in common…other than her.

''Wait up!''

Sofia stopped walking and waited for Callie to join her.

''I want all the details about THAT… Now, let's go in and spend time with dad and Jill…''

''Ok… But they have no idea.''

''It's ok. I will not out you Sofia… We both have to tell them something big about ourselves and I know it's not easy thing to say to someone. I am terrified to tell anyone about Brandon. I can't imagine how scared you are and what backlashes it could have at school and in your life.''

''Mom and dad will be ok with it… It's just that I am not comfortable yet to say the words.''

''Take your time. Once you say it, it can't be unsaid…''

''Are you telling me that or yourself?''

''Both of us… ''

''All the teasing aside, I am glad you are back with Brandon…''

''You are? You don't find it weird?''

''Well, I can say that things are a bit weird… I mean, you slept with him and few days later, he became your brother… You should move to Bible belt. I am sure that your relationship is nothing unusual there.''

Callie just rolled her eyes at her sister. Sometimes Sofia was too much with her comments.

''I can't believe you sometimes Sofia…''

''What? It's true…''

Callie just looked at her and shook her head in disbelief.

''You are insane…''

''I'm not. Mom had me tested.''

''I cannot…''

Sofia put her arm around her sister and they got into the house. Robert smiled when he saw them.

''My girls…''

They gave him a perfect and innocent smile and responded at the same time.

''Hi dad…''

He just looked at them and raised his hands…

''I will not even ask what are you up to…''

Sofia put her arms around him and gave him an angelic smile.

''We love you too dad.''

''Please, don't send me to the early grave Sofia…''

''Why me?''

''Because Callie is the reasonable and responsible one…She knows where to draw the line. You on the other hand…''

With that he left. Sofia looked at Callie that was looking at the floor with mouth turned into one very thin line. Sofia just smirked at her sister.

''Oh, you are so screwed…responsible sister of mine. I can't wait for dad to learn how reasonable and responsible you really are. I will need a lot of popcorn and nice spot to witness your fall from grace in dad's eyes.''

''Shut up!''

Sofia couldn't stop laughing and teasing her older sister. They went to Callie's room and Sofia took a seat on the bed.

''Now I want to know everything.''

''Everything?''

''Yes, you were very vague last time you spoke of him…''

Callie needed someone to talk to about everything that was going on and she knew that none of her siblings or parents in the Fosters' household was the right person. After short deliberation, she got comfortable on her bed and looked at her younger sister.

''Ok… Fine… What do you want to know?''

Sofia was so surprised that Callie was willing to share that she forgot most of the questions she had. She started with the most obvious one.

''How did you get back together?''

''I told you he started fixing up the house he inherited?''

''Yes… You mentioned very vaguely that he will be doing some fixing and redecorating now that the school year is over. I had no idea you would be involved too.''

''I wasn't supposed to be. Well, at least not just me. The original idea was for me, Mariana and Jesus to help. As usual, twins bailed after some short time and that left just us.''

''As expected. I never saw the twins as someone who would volunteer to work.''

''They did, but gave up pretty soon… Back to your question… Well, I started helping him and doing all those domestic things got us back into our old groove and the rest is history.''

''So, what happens now?''

''Now I wait to turn eighteen and I petition to annul the adoption.''

''Are you sure about it?''

''Yes, I am… Now I am sure that he comes before the rest of them. Now I finally realized he is worth taking the risk. I do love him so much.''

''He loves you too…''

''Now we have to survive long distance.''

''You will… Even if I have to bribe dad to get you tickets to visit him. You can play the blame game with hims and you will get anything from him. He feels so bad he missed out on your childhood and everything that happened to you. He is so sorry he couldn't help. I am sure that mom and him would take you both in and would treated you as their own.''

''I know Robert is my father and all, but I am very grateful to your mom for all the love and support. She has no reason to be good to me. I am child her husband had with his ex and they had no idea I existed. She had no reason to be good to me.''

''Maybe, but that is my mom. SAnd she knows that it's not your or Jude's fault what happened in your life. She is someone who would maybe have few choice words for your mom. But not because she was jealous but because she hid you from him.''

''Yes, but I am constant reminder that there was life before their relationship and your family.''

''Maybe, but then you are saying that it's ok to blame your partner that you were not their first everything… Imagine learning that Brandon has a kid with his ex, the one before you came into his life, before he knew you even existed…''

Callie made face because Talia popped into her mind. She really didn't like that girl.

''I wouldn't be happy he is having Talia's baby, but I could never blame the kid….or even Brandon for it if he really didn't know and he moved on like you do after any breakup.''

''That is why my mom is ok with you. Her beef is with your mom and theand the lies and now my grandparents for knowing she is having dad'sa child and keeping it from him.''

Callie had mixed feelings when Sofia mentioned Robert's parents. Yes, it was their fault that they hid her mother's pregnancy, but for a moment she wondered if she would be born if he knew and she also knew there would not be Jude or even Sofia if things were different.

''But if they said something, you and Jude might have never happened. He and Jill would have never happened.''

''That is possible, but I can't say I would be sorry if we didn't. If he knew, he would have been in your life, even if he and your mom ended things. He is that sort of dad. Maybe he and my mom would end things at some point, but I will never stop being his child and he wouldn't change the way he sees and loves me because they are not together. They had me together and I am their child forever, no matter their relationship status.''

Sofia got quiet for a moment.

''Take Mike for example… He is Brandon's dad. He made a lot of wrong choices and mistakes, but Brandon wants him in his life and he is there for him. ButHowever, since Stef had the costudycustody of Brandon, many choices he was not included in. He couldn't really help you when you were dating before because of his past. On paper, Stef and Lena are better option than Mike and Anna. Yes, he got a chance with AJ but it was years after many of his mistakes and in part because there was still Stef's presence in his life. She was some sort of control button even in AJ's presence in your lives. And Ana's baby was biologically hers and then she married Mike during her pregnancy that makes little Agneslittle Agnes his child legally and he is amazing dad to her. Better than he was ever to Brandon because now he learned the lesson.''

''And has a better partner.''

''Is there a bit of resentment I feel Ms. Callie?''

''What is it?''

''Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if we had support from Stef and Lena?''

''You wonder if you would have been together?''

Callie smiled at Sofia and just shook her head.

''No, that part is actually something I never wondered about… I somehow always felt like we were meant to be. Like no matter what we would find our way back… Even after I was adopted and we said thatthat, our story has to end… Even after all the girls showing interest in him or him liking some of them or even me liking someone… It always felt like he is my endgame… Like we had to have this moment apart to find our way back. You know…to see if we really are in love or we just made ourselves believe we were. I guess moms were right to some point. We could have been fooling ourselves and being delusional about our feelings but now, there is no doubt. We spent a year in the same house, most of the time forced to be in the same room with everyone and I never stopped wanting him or loving him. Not for a second… Yes, I had some crushes. I kissed some boys, but when it came to the point when they wanted something more than just a kiss, I simply couldn't because all I saw was Brandon and night we had. One of my fears was that we would never be able to top that night. And even before you go there, I am not talking about…''

Callie blushed for a moment. She was not really into talking about sex, especially when it came to her experiences.

''…that technical moment… I mean, our first time was amazing, but what made it amazing was not the physical side of sex. Like who did what to whom, but emotional side of it all…The intimacy of that moment of being with someone you love…''

''And how was it?''

''Same, if not even better. This time we spent as ''siblings'' made us unconsciously find a way to make up for lack of opportunities to express our love in a physical way. The most we could get were brushes of hand by accident. And that is when you build emotional relationship. Just imagine being in love and knowing you are constantly watched. WAnd when I say constantly I do mean it… At some point I was sure Mariana would take showers with me.''

Sofia laughed at that comment. She could actually imagine that situation. If Mariana really wanted to watch over Callie taking her showers or using the bathroom in any other way, she would be there.

''So just imagine not having a chance to touch and be with the person you crave the most… What do you have left? You have words, you have looks and you have moments when you know they are watching but can't get to close to hear what you are talking about so they just sit and watch you sitting on the porch and talking. They have no idea what you are saying, but they know that you don't sit too close to look suspicious.''

''That sounds like hell…''

''It is… And now imagine getting a chance to touch and kiss that person after more than a year… Can you imagine all the pent up emotions and shit?''

''No, but I'm guessing it's something special.''

''Oh, it is… Now I get to be with him for real. And as soon as I turn eighteen, I am overturning the adoption.''

''So, finally you will be a Quinn...''

''If dad is ok with it… I can always go back to Jacobs.''

''Before you leap to just Foster.''

Callie gave her a look and blushed.

''I am sure we are not leaping into that any time soon.''

''But you are not against it?''

''No, but not now. We still have college on two different sides of country to navigate.''

''But you would marry him?''

''At some point, yes… But I don't think we are there yet. I think there are a lot more important things in our way than marriage. I spent too much time as statistic to go back to it.''

''What do you mean?''

''In foster system you are a number, a statistic. You are one of I don't know how many percent of girls that got adopted late. Then you are some percent of the girls in the system that graduated high school instead of getting a GED and working at some low incomelow-income position. I am a girl that got into college on scholarship, I am a girl that despite all the problems and bad things happening, all the abuse I managed to keep my GPA at 4.0. And I don't want to be one more girl that got married early and had a family that could be taken away from her because I don't have income. Yes, I know what you want to say… Dad and Jill would never let that happen, but I don't want it to be their responsibility. It's my family. I should provide for them, along with my spouse. They can help with babysitting or going to vacations together, but I don't think it's right for them to raise my kids or support me if I can manage. I don't want to be teen mom who gets her baby taken away and seeing that child fostered by some other people. I want my child to be with me and their dad. I want to try to provide to my baby everything I didn't have. Stabile home, security, endless love and safety. I know I can't be sure it will turn out like that. Maybe Brandon doesn't' want family? Maybe we can't have kids? Maybe because of what we did, we wouldn't be allowed to foster or adopt? So many things are possible in this life. So, I want to do what is best for me and my potential family. I want to get my college diploma. I want to get a job and I want to be partner to my spouse and not supported by them. Regardless of the fact what is the gender of our children. They must learn that women deserve equal rights as men do. I want my daughter to wish to work on herself and be best version of herself regardless of who her partner is. I want my son to know he should respect his partner and help her progress and be the best version of herself. I want them to know that the best partner is the one who lets you be who you are and is there for you when you feel like it's not your day, month, year. I want them to love themselves and have the least as possible self-doubts and have a lot of faith and trust in us as parents. Maybe I will be in a situation to come and tell them that I will help them financially to accomplish something? Maybe I will not be able to help with money, but with advice or something else they need, but before that, I must get them to trust me enough to ask for my help and not be ashamed for asking.''

Sofia was quiet. Conversations like this were always a reminder of how different hers and Callie's lives were. Sofia had it all from the moment she was born and her parents didn't give up on her even after all the stupid things she did. She wished Callie had it better in life, but then she wondered if Callie would be different if they had the similar life, if after her mother's death Callie and Jude came to live with Robert and Jill. She and Jude are the same age. It would be interesting to grow up with an older sister and a brother who was same age as she was.

Their time together was interrupted by Jill calling them to get down because she and Robert made dinner. What Callie loved about meals at Quinn residence was that Jill loved to cook some unusual dishes from all over the world. She traveled a lot for her work and she would always come back with some insane cook books. That night she made African food. Dishes from Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. It was interesting, spicy and Callie loved every single thing she tried. They ate outside by the pool and Callie couldn't stop looking at the water. There was something about the evening sun and it's glow in the water…and there was ocean in the distance too, but that was another story. She loved how beautiful home her father and Jill made. Yes, there was cheating incident, but they recovered from it and Callie was under impression that they really worked on their relationship. They did look happy and like they choose to stay in this for themselves, not for Sofia or appearances. In all honesty, both Jill and Robert could afford divorce and could live separately in equally beautiful mansions, but they picked the option of saving the marriage and Callie was proud of her dad for it. Since base of most of the dishes was chicken and Callie was staying for the entire weekend, Robert got out some very fancy South African white wine and she had some of it with Robert and Jill. It was cold and so good that she wished Brandon was there too to try it. Jill broke her out of her daydreaming and thinking about her dad and her.

''So Callie, how is getting ready for college going?''

''I think it's going well. I don't have that many things and now I am researching what do I have in dorms and what should I get.''

''Do you have single one or are you sharing?''

''I will have single one. I was lucky to apply early so I managed to get one.''

''I am sure it has some advantages to be alone, but real college experience is a nosy roommate and avoiding to go back to the room when they have someone over… And sleeping in common rooms so they can get some...''

She winked at Callie… Robert almost chocked on his wine.

''Jill!''

''Oh, come on babe… You know she is not a kid anymore. I am sure she… Well… you know…Is not a stranger to all sorts of sexual pleasure as many teens are…and as we were when we were her age…''

Callie blushed because her mind went to her time with Brandon and then she realized that Robert and her mother were together in high school and that pretty sure they did have sex at her age and she was not the one to think about her parents getting it on as well as Jill and Robert.''

''Oh, God!''

''I agree Callie. My wife has no filter after a glass of wine.''

''Fine, blame it on the wine but I know I am right…''

''Can we change the subject Jill? Please…''

''Ok Callie. Don't be embarrassed.''

''I am not. It's just strange to talk about it with my dad at the table.''

Robert didn't want to know about Callie's sex life. He wanted to live in the blissful ignorance.

''Dad agrees.''

''God, two of you are such prudes.''

''Jill….''

''Fine… Shall we talk about the weather?''

That got them all to laugh.

''I am sorry Callie. Jill is just being…''

''Jill… But that is part of her charm.''

''I agree…''

Suddenly he put his glass down.

''I almost forgot. I have a present for you.''

''You do?''

''Yes, it's a bit late graduation present.''

''Ok?''

''Come with me.''

Callie got up and followed her dad. He took her to the back yard and saw a Jeep with a bow on it. He got her a car.

''Dad?''

''Well, you are moving to the another city and a lot can fit in the back of this car without even getting the seats down. I did ask, you do get a parking spot at your dorm's parking and it matches your dorm number, so you are covered.''

''Wow! Thank you!''

She hugged him and they just stood like that until Jill and Sofia came. Jill had a bag in her hand and huge smile on her face.

''And this is from me.''

She gave Callie the bag and when she opened it, she was very surprised by the present. It was a brand new camera.

''Sofia showed me some of your pictures on Instagram and I am really impressed. If you can make those photos with your camera phone, I can't wait to see what you can do with a real camera. And I am always there to teach you some tricks of the trade if you ever pick photography to be something to do for a living. And I am offering you to travel with me during summer shoots and learn the job and see how it's done for big magazines and all the craziness it brings.''

''Wow! I would love to.''

She hugged Jill and thanked her dad again.

''This is really amazingamazing. You really made my day.''

Sofia came to Callie…

''How about we test your new car?''

''Ok… let me get my bag.''

Callie took her bag from her room and got back to the yard. Jill and Sofia took off the bow and put it in the trunk. Robert opened the door for her and she got in.

''In your sun shield you have all the paperwork for the car. And registration too. It's in my name, because of the insurance we have as a family, but there is a signed statement that you are my daughter and you are driving it with my permission. When you come back in the winter, we can put you on the family plan. Now with your college and our summer in Europe, I didn't have time to do it. But I will prepare everything for later so you just have to sign it all. Ok?''

''it's fine dad… Thank you again.''

''You girls have fun and be home by midnight.''

Callie checked her phone, it was seven in the afternoon. They really gave them time to wonder around. They had full tank and both of them had their cards with hemthem, so in his eyes, they were safe and free to go shopping or just drive around.

Callie loved her new car. It was so easy to drive and she couldn't wait to pack them for the big move.

''So, are we showing the new car to the boyfriend?''

Callie blushed for a moment.

''Come on. I know you can't wait for him to see.''

In the traffic light, she got her phone out and called him. Brandon was surprised to hear from her that soon. She just asked if he was home and told him that she and Sofia were on the way. Brandon was practicing piano when she called. He wanted to practice as much as he could during the weekend so he could be as much as he could with Callie during the time when she was at his place. After some time, he heard car approaching and opened the front door. He was surprised to see Callie in the car he didn't recognize. He knew both Jill and Robert had BMW and this was not part of their usual car collection. They got out of the car and Brandon was waiting for them on the front porch.

''Cool ride.''

''I know…''

Callie came to him and kissed him in front of her sister. He had a very surprised and shocked face.

''She saw us in front of the gate…So she knows.''

''Oh, ok…''

''Hi Brandon…''

''Hi Sofia…''

He let them into the house and Callie went straight to the kitchen to get something to drink and Sofia just looked around. It was clear that Brandon just started putting together how he wanted his house to look, but it already had something that said Brandon…and a bit of Callie.

''Want a tour?''

''Sure…''

Callie showed her the ground floor where kitchen, dining room, living room and small office were. Office was still filled with boxes and it was clear that it was not priority for Brandon to use this room. Room had glass door that led to the garden and it was very clear by the smell of the grass that Brandon did mowing.

''Will you get some flowers here?''

''Maybe but not now. We can't plant anything that needs constant attention. So that is a conversation for when we come back from college. Everything that needs too much attention is something that has to wait. Brandon doesn't want to give the keys to anyone in the family, so Matt will have them.''

''Why? Is there some problem with the fam?''

She pointed at herself and looked at Sofia.

''Beside the obvious?''

''Ok… Question… But don't get angry…''

''Ok…I am listening, but it's not that promising that I will not get angry with your opening like that.''

''How come he is the bad guy and you get the free pass? Moms are not on your case as much as they are on his.''

''I wonder the same, but since it's a sore topic and I am supposed to be a good daughter and not interested in my brother, I can't start that conversation if I am not willing to go all the way and tell them really what I feel about him.''

''When will you tell them? I mean, this is mess… he is their kid too.''

''I know. But we have to make war plan about telling the fam.''

''Ok… That is the Fosters and what about us? Will you tell dad and Jill?''

''I have no idea how. I am scared they would not be happy about it.''

''I am sure they will need a moment to get used to it, but I think dad will be there for you. You are in a situation he was in and that is why he would not meddle. I am not saying I know it all, but maybe your mom and dad would live what they were meant to live and realize they were not right for one another and ended their relationship in a friendly way and you would have had both of your parents there for you. And maybe she was his person and marriage to my mom is a consolation price that turned out good for both of them. I don't know… But I know that dad would understand and mom is chill about things.''

''I am not sure how she can be chill about an ex and a kid he had with her.''

''Timeline don't match… You didn't happen when mom and dad were together, you happened before. Coleen leaving him happened before he even knew my mom and that is how. Your mom and dad didn't get together to hurt mine or were some secret affair he had… They were together long before she came into his life. If he had a kid with the woman he cheated with, she would have killed him with her bare hands… I can assure you…''

''And I believe you…''

''I want to see more.''

They went upstairs and Callie showed her two guest rooms. They had still Frank's original furniture in and Callie and Brandon were not interested in changing much. Beds were queen sized with cream covers and matching pillows. There was something warm and comfy in the way the rooms felt. Nothing was a statement peace, everything was natural, but also pleasant. And last room was master bedroom. And that is what Sofia was most curious about. Callie hoped Brandon didn't make mess inside and that he made the bed. She would die if the bed was as she left it. To both of their surprises, room was neat, clean and the only thing out of place was Brandon's flannel on the chair he probably took off during the day. The rest was all in the closet and bed was made.

''So, this is where the magic happens…''

Callie rolled her eyes at her sister.

''Magic?! Oh, God! I shouldn't have brought you here.''

''Oh, come on! You were dying for someone to know and someone to talk to about what was happening…aside from Brandon.''

''Maybe…''

She looked around and then turned back to Callie.

''I love it… It's really you… Both of you.''

''There is nothing here that says any of us… It's just a room with few things in. Nothing here says Brandon or Callie. Ok, maybe Brandon because you see his shirt, but it's just a room for now.''

''Yes, there is…''

She looked around the room and pointed things out to Callie.

''You sleep on the side facing the bathroom. There is your dental floss and hand cream. He sleeps on the other side because you prefer to sleep closer to the room doors. That is a habit you have from your foster care days. You pick that side because you are used to be running out of room and houses with or without Jude, depending what is the situation. And that is something you can't shake off. You even sleep like that in our house. In huge bed, you sleep on the edgend facing the door. On the wall above your bed you have mom's enlarged picture of sand and wave coming close to I love you written in the sand. That is something you picked out of the photographs she wanted to give you as a gift. So, that is some of ''you'' in this room too. In the bathroom, you have your stuff. And if I open the closet, there are few of your things here. Some are things you got from the house and some are things you bought to have here. So, maybe it is not completely arranged in the way you want it, but it has both of you here.''

Callie had to agree with Sofia. She was right about what she said.

''And what's with this bare wall?''

And that is when Brandon came in. He put his arms around Callie and kissed her cheek.

''Oh, that is Callie's wall of fame… She wants to put pictures of us… Like all the big momentsmoments, we have documented…''

''Cute…''

''I know…''

''But then you really have to keep the fam away. At least until it becomes official with them that two of you are an item.''

''That is the bridge we will have to cross when the time comes. FirstFirst, she has to turn eighteen so we could start annulment and everything. We have to be free from mom's paws so we could tell anyone about this. Until then, we have to be very discreet.''

''Well, I am rooting for you guys.''

Brandon smiled at her.

''Thanks Sofia… I think you are the only sibling who is… Well, aside from Jesus… But it's just because he doesn't want to be involved in anybody's drama. He keeps out of it. He has Lexi back now and that is all he cares about…''

''Well, good for him.''

They ordered pizza and spent next few hours together chatting about million things. Sofia wanted to know all about Julliard and what were his planshis plans were for the year. She was asking if he knew anyone there and if someone he was competing with alsowith got accepted. Brandon dropped few names, but said he was not close to any of them. He just knew them from the different places he went for competitions. A bit after eleven, girls got into the car and went back to the Quinn residence. Robert and Jill were already in bed so sisters climbed the stairs and went to their rooms. Callie texted with Brandon for few more minutes and then went to sleep.

Callie and Sofia spent most of the morning in the pool or sunbathing beside it. Jill and Robert had breakfast with them and then left them to enjoy their time together. Girls gossiped and took a lot ofmany photos and even published some of them on their social media. Callie really started having fun with Sofia and now she felt a little bad that she didn't give her dad and this family a chance when she had an opportunity.

One of the things that were on her mind was the eternal question about what would have Robert said about two of them being together? Would he have different attitude than their moms did? She wanted to tell him, she really did. But she was still seventeen and maybe Robert could take some legal action against Brandon and Fosters and she didn't want him to do something like that. She wanted them safe from any legal consequences this choice might have. So, she spent most of the day avoiding being alone with Robert. She made promise to herself that she will tell him after she turns eighteen, but as usual, it didn't happen that way. Callie was in the kitchen when Robert found her.

''Is everything ok? You've been avoiding me all day.''

''Yes, it is…and I am not…''

He just gave her a look and she bent.

''Maybe a little…''

''Why?''

''Because there is something I have to tell you and I don't know how will you react.''

''Ok. I am listening…''

''It's about person I am seeing… I am in love with.''

He had a huge smile on his face.

''What? Why are you smiling?''

''You are in love… I admit it's a bit weird to hear that from a daughter, even one I just met, but I am always on board with love if it brings the best out of you.''

''You will not be in a minute…''

''Ok, but maybe I would be… Give me a chance to form my own opinion.''

''Ok… Here it goes…''

Robert took a seat on the chair across from Callie and took her hands.

''You don't have to tell me if you don't want. It's your choice Callie and whatever it is, you are my child. Nothing you do will change it. Maybe some of your choices would scare me or will not be something I understand, but I will always be your dad and there for you. Even if that love turns out wrong…but by the way you smile when you text that person and somehow glow, I don't think that love is wrong for you.''

She smiled at Robert and she felt her cheeks were wet. He wiped the tears and smiled at her.

''You can tell me anything. You know that?''

''I know… I just need a moment.''

''Ok… I am here when you are ready.''

She took a deep breath…

'' It's Brandon… Stef's son.''

She closed her eyes and waited for Robert's reaction. She expected shouting, screaming and who knows what more…

''Callie look at me… Open your eyes.''

She did and saw a smile on Robert's face. A smile? No, not a smile… A grin. He was grinning at her after he learned about her and Brandon. Whaaat?

''You are ok with this?''

''I must admit that at first I was a bit surprised, but then I started watching two of you interact and I realized you somehow click, make sense.''

''You've watched us? Since when did you know?''

''Fundraiser… I was looking for you and…and I saw the kiss...''

''And you never said anything?''

''I didn't think it was my place… It was clear it was your secret and it was something painful for two of you. I didn't want you to choose me because you believed I held something over you. I wanted to be your choice out of the free will. I would never out two of you and honestly I never really expected your relationship to end after the adoption. I was sure it would become just more carefully planned.''

''So, you are ok with me seeing my brother?''

''Nah, I don't see you and Jude happening… And between us, I think he has very particular taste you don't fit.''

She just started laughing like crazy and started crying again. Relief… That was the feeling that spread through her body. She was finally free to be who she is in front of at least one adult.

''Does Jill know?''

''Yes, but she noticed… That woman sees everything… ''

''Oh, God!''

''And let me tell you, she is the captain of your ship, and she said to me that our grandbabies would be pretty…''

''She didn't?''

''You know her by now enough to know she did.''

''Is there anyone in this house that doesn't know?''

''Well, I can't speak for the help.''

She covered her face and started laughing again.

''We are so bad at hiding this.''

''Very, but a good thing is that your family is ignoring it…''

''Yes, they are ignoring it as usual…''

Suddenly Robert turned serious. He took Callie's hands and kissed her forehead.

''All jokes aside…And what will you do? Do you have game plan?''

''Game plan?''

''Well, you are going to college…and doing long distance.''

''Oh, that…''

''Yes, that… it will not be easy, but it's worth the pain and all the crap when you know that person is really in your corner. And that boy loves you Callie.''

''And I love him too.''

''I am sure this is not what you want to talk about, but I have to ask…''

Callie's mind went to sex right away and shew as not comfortable about it. She just hoped that Robert wouldn't be demanding too much honesty.

''What will happen to the adoption? Will you annul it?''

Ok. Not a sex question… There was a moment of relief.

''Yes, that is the plan. I have the money you were sending me so I can use some of it for the fees.''

''Don't worry about the money. I will take care of it.''

''Dad…''

''Callie, that money is for you. You will need it now for air fares…''

''And one more thing…''

He got up from the chair and went to his office. He came back few minutes later with a set of keys.

''What is that?''

''Keys to the loft in NY.''

''You are giving me an apartment?''

''Not really. It's the place we use when we go to New York. Jill and I travel there often for work and we honestly love New York at Christmas time. It's our favorite place to be. We usually go there for Christmas and thenm to Mexico for the New year. You can use the place when you go to see Brandon. I am sure that two of you could use some time without roommate he would probably have.''

Now she was blushing.

''Jill and I have another set of keys here in the house, so this set is for you. I added you to the list of people who can use the place. And If you annul the adoption, you can take Quinn name. I will talk to my lawyer and leave all the paperwork and money she might need to help you if you want to do it now…after your birthday.''

Callie couldn't believe what was happening.

''You are really ok with this?''

''Honestly, I am terrified but I know what it's like to be in love and have many close people to you against you. So, I'd rather help you live your love to the fullest and if it is a mistake, it's better for two of you to realize it is than for any of us to force it on you. I don't know if it is a mistake. I don't know if it will last. But what I know is that you believe it's right… And whatever happens is ok. We all make mistakes and fall in and out of love with people…. I will stand by you no matter what. I am here if you want to end things with him and I am here if you want to marry him now… I would sign the permit for you if that was something you believed was right. I was sure I would grow old with your mom. And maybe we would have without my family's meddling. WBut we will never know what would have happened, because she is dead… And I have Jill… And don't get me wrong. Jill is an amazing woman and I love her so much…but your mom… Coleen was the love of my life and there is not a day that I don't look at you and think of how much I miss her and how proud she would be of you. I lost my love out of fear. Don't let that be your excuse. I'd rather have you divorce him at the age of twenty than wonder what if, because that is the worst thing.''

Callie just hugged him and he held her tight. She was always emotional when she thought or spoke of her mom. She missed her too. Robert broke the hug and offered her his hand.

''This reminds me… Come with me…''

She followed him to his office and he opened his desk draw and gave her a ring box.

''What is that?''

''Open it.''

Callie opened the box and inside were wedding bands.

''Dad?''

''I got them it for Colleen and me. We wanted to elope and I got them for us. I would love you to have them. You may use it as your rings if you want…when the day comes… I wanted you to have it as a keepsake. Something to remind you of your mom and me and our story. I have some more things for you, like photographs letters and things like that. But I have to ask Jill to find them…''

''Jill saw those things?''

''Yes, she did and you don't have to worry. Jill is ok with my past and the love your mother and I shared. She understands much better than anyone thinks she does. She didn't have the past we had, but she is not stupid. She knows I haven't seen her since I left and I never knew where she was. I am so sorry I missed your birth and I was not there when you lived the hell you did. And I will never be able to make it up to you or forgive myself for it.''

Callie knew how bad he felt and how guilty he felt every time she spoke of her past and how much she suffered.

''And that is why I want to try to make it up to you somehow. I never abandoned you Callie. I just never knew you existed. If I did… The moment something happened to her, I would have taken you and Jude to live with me. I promise you that. If two of you are ever in need of something, I am here for both of you. Yes, you are my daughter and I am here for you no matter what. And Jude… I know he is not my son. ''

Callie looked at her father and saw some tears in his eyes.

''But he is hers. Two of you are the only things she left behind and much better versions of us, as your parents. I see so much of her in you. You are spitting image of your mother… And somehow Sofia looks like her too.''

He kissed top of Callie's hand and smiled at her.

''Why don't you go and change and then go after cuddles and comfort none of us could give you… Or you can invite the boy for lunch. I still want to fire up that grill… It's time to finally properly we get introduced to the boy.''

She smiled and nodded.

'' I'll give him a call.''

Robert left his office and left Callie alone to call Brandon. Brandon answered right away.

''Hey Call…''

''Hey…''

''What's up?''

''Do you want to come to the house for dinner?''

''I told you I am not in a mood for moms.''

''No, not to theirs but to Robert's…''

''He wants me to come to his place?''

''Yes, they sort of know… Since the foundraserfundraiser.''

''Oh… And he said nothing?''

''He wants me to be happy and he is very willing to support us…''

''Really?''

''Yes…''

''Ok. I'll leave soon. Should I bring something?''

''No, we are fine…''

''See you soon Call.''

''See you B.''

Callie went to her room to take shower and change. She put on long red sun dresssundress and she didn't straighten her hair. She knew Brandon loved her waves. Sofia got into her room with a smirk.

''I hear certain boy is coming to dinner…''

''Yes, dad wanted me to invite him.''

''I see…. He is so excited and nervous, like his boyfriend was coming.''

Callie had to laugh at that.

''Sofia, behave!''

When he arrived to the house, he texted her to let him in. She buzzed him in and got out to greet him. He got out of car and she greeted him with a smile and a very juicy kiss.

''So, we are doing this?''

''I guess we are.''

''And he is really ok with us?''

''Yes, he is. I was surprised at first too. I expected him to react like moms did. I expected some harsh words from him and a lot of anger for hiding from him that we were together before you were adopted.''

''He says he is ok with us being together. So, let's believe it.''

''Ok…. I really hope he doesn't change his mind.''

She pulled him into a kiss and their kiss was interrupted by Robert who opened the door.

''Oh, I'm sorry.''

Both teens felt a bit embarrassed being caught.

''No, dad… It's ok…''

Robert noticed that Brandon was nervous.

'' Hey Brandon.''

''Hi, Mr. Quinn…''

''Robert, please call me Robert. Mr. Quinn iswas my dad.''

''Ok Robert….''

''Let's get in and start the grill… How are you with the grill?''

''I am better at eating than grillingmaking grilled food.''

That got them to laugh. They got into the house and they went to the back yard where Jill and Sofia were. They greeted Brandon and Robert went to the grill and started it. Brandon was surprised how easy it was to talk to Jill and he really loved listening to her stories about her travels and shoots she did with famous models or some other people from politics and public life. Time with Callie's other family simply flew by and it was time to go back to reality of their lives. He was going back to his house and Callie had to go back to the Foster's house. They each drove their own car and Brandon texted her to stop at the next turn because there was beautiful view to the ocean. She was the one to arrive there first so she got out of the car to wait for him. He arrived a minute later and as soon as he got out of the car, he pulled her into the kiss. Yes, Quinns knew they were together, but they couldn't really kiss and make out in front of them. They didn't want to abuse Robert's positive attitude toward their relationship and overstep with PDA.

''I wish you could come to the house with me.''

''Me too… But let's wait for those two weeks it would take me to be eighteen and then we could try with spending the night out of the house.''

''I can't wait…''

''Me too…''

He kissed her again.

''I really had a nice time with the fam.''

''Yes, they are pretty cool. Especially dad and Jill. Sometimes they surprise me with things they say or do.''

''Like what?''

''Dad gave me keys to an apartment in New York when I come to visit.''

Brandon was surprised.

''He did?''

''He wanted us to have place where we could spend time together without interruptions or roomates.''

''That is nice of him.''

''I know… I also got this.''

She opened her car and fished out of her bag box with rings. Brandon opened them and looked at her.

''Callie?''

''He got them for him and my mom. They never got to use them, so he gave them to me… If we want to use them, or just to keep them as a keepsake…A memory of him and my mom.''

''Do you want to use them or you want us to have our own?''

She just smiled at him. He was thinking of their marriage as she was.

''Honestly, I don't know. It would be nice to use something that has history…but…''

''You are superstitious?''

''No, no… I am not… It's not that. I just don't want you to feel like you have to use them.''

''It would be my honor to use rings that you hold close and that have some history in your family.''

''I am sorry they never got to use them.''

''I know, but we will and they will be on our fingers until the day we die. I promise you. I will love you forever and always Callie. And I will be there forever. No matter how hard it gets.''

''I know… I have no doubt that you will give your everything to me and the family we want to have. And I promise you the same. It's us against the world Brandon Foster and I wouldn't have it any other way.''

''Me too…''

When the time came, two of them returned to their cars and went their separate ways. Moms were waiting for Callie to come back home from Robert's before they went to sleep. They asked her if she had a good time and she smiled and nodded.

''I had a good time with them. It was fun.''

Stef was a bit jealous that Callie loved being with them, but she didn't show it that often.

''So, did Robert drop you off?''

''No, I came in my own car.''

That got them surprised. They had no idea he would get her a car.

''Your own car?''

''Yes, it was a graduation gift and now I can pack up and drive to college and keep it there too. Do you want to see it?''

Lena god up first from the sofa and walked toward Callie.

''Sure Honey… Let's see the car.''

Stef followed two of them and when Callie opened the door both women were surprised by the car she got. It was very expensive, new and something they could have never buyough to her.

''It's beautiful.''

''I think so too. I can lower the seats in the back and then put all the things I need inside when I leave for college. You don't have to drive me. I can do it myself now.''

Moms were a bit disappointed.

''Oh, we were sure you would like us to drive up with you and help you move in.''

''No, it's ok… I can do it myself. I really don't have that many things. I can make it myself.''

''We want to come with you. We want to make sure everything is ok.''

''Stef, I survived some pretty messy situations by myself. I can manage to move into the dorm without your help. It is a bit over two hours of driving. I can manage that. And plus, there will be already too many people on campus. It would be too crowded if you all went with me.''

Stef and Lena were a bit hurt. They were sure the rest of the kids would feel that way too. They secretly planned to surprise Callie and turn her going to college into family adventure. They would drive up all together and help her with her stuff and help her move in.

''I am going to bed now. I am glad you like dad's present. I am very excited to have my own car. I never imagined he would get me this as a present.''

Lena spoke first because she noticed discomfort on her wife's face.

''It is a beautiful car Callie. I must say, Robert really picked something useful and beautiful for your gift.''

''Yes, he was so proud of himself when I told him I love it.''

They got into the house and she went to her room. Moms stayed downstairs a moment longer and a bit long faces.

''She doesn't want us to help her move in.''

''Yap!''

''But why? All the parents would be there for the kids.''

''I know Lena and I wish we were there too.''

Stef looked at her wife.

''And what if we just go.''

''Even after she told us no?''

'' Well, we made promise to our kids that we will see them off to college and we will do it.''

''So, we are following Brandon to New York too?''

Stef got serious again.

''If Callie is not on board with us going, I can imagine what he would say if we offered. I really have no idea what is going on with that boy. Ever since he moved out, he didn't call or came here once. I have no idea what got into him.''

''Maybe we could go and see him?''

''And show up uninvited to his house? Were you the one who told we should let him enjoy his space?''

''I was, bit this is now abuse of freedom. No calls or visits for days…''

''We are in for it when he leaves for Julliard. We will see him only during holidays, if he graces us with his presence.''

''We could invite him to come to the house for dinner tomorrow. We can ask Callie to make her lasagna and tiramisu.''

''Sure, that would get him to come. That is something he can't say no to.''

''Then it's settled. We will call Callie tomorrow and tell her to go and buy what she needs for dinner and we will invite Brandon too.''

''Sounds like a plan.''

They went to bed and before they fell asleep, Lena texted Callie with the idea of her cooking and inviting Brandon co tome. She just responded to Lena with Ok and Lena put away her phone.

''Callie is on board with the idea.''

Mariana was reading a book and Callie was texting with Brandon and Sofia when she got message from Lena. She liked the idea of all of them eating together. She missed the time when they could eat at the same table without the tension that could be cut with the knife. She texted Brandon that moms will invite him for dinner and that he better shows up and behaves. He tried to get out of it, but she managed to convince him to come. She also bribed him with promise of spending the weekend after her birthday with him but just if he behaves. She was excited for the entire family to eat together after such a long time. She managed somehow to fall asleep. FolowingFollowing morning Callie woke up early and got dressed for the day. When she got downstairs, moms were finishing their morning coffee.

''Good morning honey…''

''Good morning.''

Stef was reading the papers and ranting about some possible chaos in the traffic in the afternoon. Apparently there were some repairs done and some streets were closed.

''Sounds like a crazy day for you.''

''I just hope I will be lucky enough to be on desk duty today.''

That got Callie and Lena to laugh. They could imagine how insane being in the car would drive Stef.

''Well, I wish the same for you mom.''

After moms left for work, Callie made list of what she needed and picked up her bag. She made perfect plan in her head how to spend her day or at least part of it. She got into her car and drove to Brandon's favorite bakery. She picked up his favorites and iced mocha for both of them. Then she drove to the house and got in quietly. She put their drinks into the fridge and climbed the stairs quietly. When she got to the bedroom, she noticed that Brandon was asleep. She took off her clothes and sneaked into the bed. She started kissing his shoulders and back and that woke him up.

''Miss, please don't do that. My girlfriend would be angry.''

She started laughing and tickling him. He turned to face her and pulled her into his arms. She nuzzled to his neck and he started stroking her hair.

''Good morning B.''

''Good morning baby…''

''I missed you.''

''I missed you too. This is beautiful way to wake up.''

''I agree… Can't wait to do this again and again…''

He just held her tight and they both were silent, just taking in the moment.

''Don't get me wrong… I love that you are here, but what brings you here?''

''Well, we can spend some time together and then you are coming with me to the store and back to the house to help me cook.''

''Oh, am I?''

''Yes, you are…''

''Ok… I like the idea…but I don't look forward to the dinner with moms.''

''Brandon, just a month. We have to be good just for a month.''

''And then we are off to college, at two different sides of the US.''

''I know, but we will make it work. I will make sure we see each other at least once a month. But I will give my best to make it more than that.''

''I know.''

She moved so he could see her.

''Listen to me Brandon. We can make it. We will make it. As soon as I turn eighteen, moms will not have that much power or control over me. I can go and do what I want and they will not have much say about it. Just believe in us. I have no doubt about our relationship working out. I love you, just you and I will give my best to see you as much as I can and to take care of our relationship. I want nothing more than to be with you and love you Brandon Foster.''

''I know… I just wish we were closer.''

''I know…''

''Why can't we have anything easy?''

''So we would know how much what we have is worth it. That is why. We work hard for everything so we would know the value of it all… Value of being together and loving each other this much and fighting for every moment we can have. That is why we get things the hard way.''

''I wish that at least something is easy.''

She smiled at him.

''But it is… This is easy. We are easy… We've always been easy when it comes just to you and me. We are the easiest thing in the world to me. Loving you is so easy when it comes to its core. When we take the world out of the equation, we are easy. Even if we have to hide and have relationship that is full of stolen moments. I would never change what we have for anyone else. I love you B. I've loved you for so long and no one has ever made me feel that much love and safe like you do.''

Brandon didn't say anything. He just kissed her and they made love. He was good with words, he knew how to charm her, but he also knew that his touches and kisses would tell her more than any word could tell. She was the most important person in his life and he wanted her to know that. He loved their intimacy. It was not just sex, it was never about sex. For him it was more about moments before and after. It was about the way she looked at him, the way they felt when they were together, the way how it felt like he was home every time she is around him. Callie was his home and he would be home anywhere where she is.

''I love you so much Callie.''

''I love you too.''

They spent few hours in bed making love, chatting, laughing, making fun of people. Gossiping about their friends and family and just being relaxed. At one moment it was time to start getting ready for the shopping. They got out of bed, had a shower together and then went to the store. She threw her car keys to him so he would be driving because she wanted Brandon to see how amazing her new car is. They got in and she told him where they should go. He drove with a huge s mile on his face and her hand in his in his lap. From time to timetime, he would look at her and just smile.

''What?''

''Nothing. I am just happy to be with you.''

''I am happy too.''

They got into the store and took a cart. Callie showed the list to Brandon and he started getting things long with her. He was also putting some things in the cart he needed for his place. They agreed to stop by his house and drop off his bags.

''Do you think it is a good idea for me to have this meal together?''

''You don't think so?''

''I don't know. I have strange feeling every time I come into that house.''

Callie understood that. She knew that he didn't have much love for his mothers after what happened after adoption and around it.

''I will not let them say a word. I promise to you Brandon. The slander is done. If any of them tries to talk trash about you I will stop them. I promise you that.''

''I know you will Callie, but it's not that. It hurts… Things they said and the way they looked at me was hurting me and no one ever apologized for that.''

''I apologize… I am sorry for not defending you when I should have. I was scared...''

''I know. I was never that angry at you. I was hurt, but not angry. I understood your fear of never being adopted or what would have happened to you. I understood you were scared what would have happened to you and Jude. I understand everything. But moms… I don't understand them. They always talked the talk about us being their kids and loving us. And first time something was not going as they expected, I am the villain.''

''You are not. That is not true…''

''Callie…''

She noticed something was on his mind.

''What is it B?''

''I think that this weekend two of us should have very serious conversation.''

Callie looked nervous.

''Call… I love you. I want to be with you, BUT I think we have to clear the coast for us. We have to talk about it and hash everything out. I am sure I will say some things that will hurt you, you will too, but that doesn't mean that I don't love or want you. I need you to hear me out. I need to hear you out. In order for us to continue our relationship, we have to clear things up between two of us. You and I are the only ones that matter. I want us to continue this without anything we kept quiet from one another. You are the most important person to me Callie and I want you to know how I feel and I want to know how you feel about our situation and problems. I want us to talk about our relationship and what we want this to be. And you know we can't do that without clean slate.''

She just nodded. He was right that they have to talk about it and get things out in the open. She was sure it would not be easy and that it would hurt at some point, but she also knew they needed that.

''I know B. I know we have to talk and there is no way we can get away from that conversation. I love you. I just want you to know I will do everything this time to prove to you that I am here and not going anywhere. I am in this with you.''

He just put his hand on hers and went on to get more things from her list. Callie felt strange pang in her chest. He loved her but didn't trust her completely. She was hurt, but she couldn't blame him for that. She knew she failed him so many times and he had every right to doubt her. And now it was up to her to show him that this time she was all in. On Friday was her birthday, then she would file the annulment. She had to do that, for her, for him, for them.

After they finished shopping for food, they dropped off Brandon's things to his house and then Callie drove them to the Foster's house. When they got in, moms were already at home and not happy to see them together.

''You were not answering your phone. Where were you Callie?''

''I was out, then in the store and then I went to pick up Brandon.'

''Why should you pick him up? He has his own car?''

''Yes, but I wanted to show him mine. He didn't see it.''

Stef just rolled her eyes and went upstairs. Jude and Mariana were looking between Callie and Brandon and thenm went to the living room. Mariana was curious what was going on, but she didn't want to stay in the kitchen and be roped into cooking. Callie turned to Brandon who was getting things out of the bag.

''Want to cook with me?''

''Sure… I will be chef's little helper. What do you need me to do?''

''Chop mushrooms and chees… You can do that.''

''Ok.''

They washed their hands and each of them went to their side of the kitchen to do what they had to do. Mariana and Jude would occasionally get into the kitchen to get some water. Pass to the front yard,o. Or in other words, keep eye on two of them. Callie and Brandon expected that, so they kept it very sibling like. They knew two of their younger siblings were listening in on their conversations. Brandon spoke about practicing piano, starting to prepare things for packing, talking about band, he was telling her some stories of what he did with Matt, told her he was writing new music since he has a lot of free time. He told her that Matt is often at his house and that they wrote together few new songs for the band. She was glad he was making music. She was proud of Brandon and the way he handled himself. He was also joking about his cooking. He teased her that he mastered baking frozen croissants and those cherry pies she got him.

''Please tell me you didn't burn the food.''

''I did not. You left me instructions on every box of food we got, knowing there is instruction on the back of the box.''

''I was just being cautious.''

''I can read Callie. I know how to use the oven.''

''Fine!''

''But, I must say I admire your will power that prevented you from camping in front of my kitchen window and not checking out on me.''

She started laughing and she threw a napkin at him. They didn't notice that Stef and Lena were back downstairs and at the kitchen door.

''Miss Jacobs, you are using violence against me… My, my… I really hit the spot.''

''Well, Mr. Foster, you can't say you didn't deserve this.''

''I knew it. You are delinquent to your core Ms. Jacobs…''

He put the cheese and mushrooms by the stove and went to get a bottle of water from the fridge.

''You need something more from me Ms. Jacobs…''

''I need you to behave.''

''I could never promise that.''

She just rolled her eyes at him and continued cooking. Moms got into kitchen and tension could be cut with the knife. Lena tried to keep things casual and Stef was just looking between them.

''So how have you been Brandon? We haven't heard from you for some time now.''

''I was good. Had some work around house done, had some music done… I am practicing my piano, slowly preparing for New York. Julliard sent me the itinerary for the orientation week and I am trying to adjust everything to that trip and week.''

''Are you excited for college?''

''In a way. It is new adventure, new city, but it's also scary for those very same reasons.''

Lena just nodded.

''I know. I felt the same. I was so excited to leave high school and start a new chapter at college. I was hopeful it would be better than anything before.''

''And was it?''

''In some ways. Loved the liberty and opportunity to start over, to test my abilities out of home and far from my parents. I love my mom and dad, but the freedom you feel when you get to the college and your dorm is something special.''

''I know what you are saying. Even here, in my house, feeling is amazing.''

Stef just huffed. Callie turned a bit to look at their faces during this conversation and she saw what she expected, very pissed off Stef, Lena trying to patch things and uninterested Brandon.

''So, when do you leave? You have to tell us so we can make plans for your ride to the airport.''

''I don't know when I would be leaving, but you don't have to worry. Dad is taking me. He will be in the city since Ana and baby the Agnesbaby have to be here for some checkups she has.''

He smiled.

''She is not a baby anymore and I can't stop calling her that.''

Callie wanted to break the tension.

''She is so cute… She looks a lot like Ana and those big brown eyes.''

Stef had no idea Callie was seeing Ana and Mike.

''And when did you see her?''

''Few weeks ago. You were stuck at work for some of your cases and mama was in meetings all day and you couldn't make it to the store and sent me there. I saw Ana and the Agnesbaby in the store. ''

''We had no idea you saw them.''

''I didn't think it mattered for me to tell you.''

Lena again tried to change the subject because it was clear that Stef was in the mood to bicker.

''How is the lasagna going Callie?''

''In a few minutes it will be in the oven… I think that So, in about thirty minutes we can eat.''

Brandon got off his chair.

''Need help with the table?''

''Sure B.''

''If Mike can't take you, you give us a call. We would love to give you a ride.''

''Don't worry Lena… I'll manage if he can't.''

Lena was a bit sad.

''You don't want us to give you a ride and go to the airport?''

''There is no need. I told you I can manage. If dad can't take me, Matt could or someone else. Don't worry.''

By Brandon's tone, Callie was sure he was close to being done with moms. TAnd the worse thing was she couldn't blame him for it.

Brandon took the plates and glasses and put them on the table. Callie was clearing the kitchen counter and putting pots in the dishwasher.

''Call…''

''Yes, B?''

''Where did you put the napkins?''

''They are in the third draw.''

''Thanks…''

Moms watched their two oldest kids go around kitchen like they had some well learned dance.

''Brandon, please make the salad… I know Lena will want some with her dinner and Mariana will eat too.''

''What do you want in?''

''Hm… Let me see…''

They opened the fridge and Callie got out what she wanted Brandon do make salad out.

''I am going upstairs to change my shirt. I have some sauce on it.''

''Ok. You go and I'll finish this. Do you need me to check on the oven?''

''Yes, when you finish the salad, get it out of the oven and put some oregano on it. But I think I will be down soon, so you just stick to salad.''

''Yes, chef.''

She went upstairs and Brandon went back to making salad. He did what Callie instructed him to do and when he was done, he put the bowl on the table. As soon as he was done, she came down and went to the oven to check the food.

''It's done…''

''Want me to get it out?''

''Sure, I'll put the cutting board on the table.''

''Thanks Call…''

She put the cutting board on the table and he put the dish on the table. He took his old seat by Callie and she just smiled at him. Jesus, Mariana and Jude came to the table and took their seats. Callie was putting food into everyone's plates and Brandon was helping with drinks. For a moment, it felt like things were back to what they were before the adoption. For a moment Callie felt like they were family again.

Jude was eating and then turned to Callie.

''What do you want to do for your birthday?''

''I don't know. I didn't really think about it.''

''Maybe we could have a party on Saturday?''

She just looked at Brandon who looked at her expecting an answer from her. She did promise him the next weekend.

''No, buddy. I don't want a party. I really hate parties. Maybe two of us can go to the mall and have lunch there?''

Stef looked at Callie surprised.

''It's your eighteenth birthday. Are you sure you don't want the party?''

''I am sure… I really am not into parties…''

''Ok. And how about family dinner?''

''I have plans for the weekend.''

''Oh…''

''Yes, it's something I planned long time ago.''

''And when will you be home?''

''On Sunday evening.''

'' Entire weekend?''

''Yes, I made some plans already.''

''Without talking to us?''

Stef was getting angry. Brandon was pissed at her for treating Callie that way.

''How dare you Callie?! How dare you make plans for your birthday without Stef's blessing?''

''Watch it Brandon!''

''Why? Did I say something wrong? You do not look very happy to hear she has some plans for her own birthday.''

''She should ask us.''

''How to celebrate her own birthday? You don't sense something wrong in that logic? You don't ask any of us how to celebrate yours? I don't remember we ever had to ask you how to celebrate. Usually we would come to you and tell you what we want and according to our financial moment you and Lena would say yes or no to the idea. But we never had to ask who to spend the birthday with. She has every right to make that decision.''

''And it's normal to you that she doesn't celebrate with us here in the house?''

''I am not sure if you want my honest answer to that Stef.''

''Stef? I am your mother! You don't get to call me by my name.''

''Sorry, I forgot.''

''That I am your mother?''

''Well, you haven't behaved that way in a very long time.''

Tension at the table was getting higher and higher. Lena looked between her wife and her son and had no idea how will this end. The rest of the kids was also very tensed and just waited for something bad to happen.

''Brandon Michael Foster, watch it!''

''You don't think I am right?''

''What do you mean? You are saying I am a bad mother?''

''I am just saying we don't really agree on your parenting methods and things you do.''

''I was always good mother to you Brandon. Lena and I did everything for you kids. You were always our priority.''

There was uncomfortable silence at the table until Brandon just snickered.

''Really? Would you like to share your mother of the year accomplishments? I really can't wait to hear that.''

''All my life I've done everything for you Brandon.''

And the dam was opened now. Callie knew that look on Brandon's face and she knew there would be blood, possibly literary blood.

''Is that what you tell yourself? Does it make you sleep better at night? Do you know I got accepted to two colleges in California, but I picked New York? Do you know why I picked Julliard? I couldn't care less about piano. I just want to get away from you! I am finally free from you Stefanie. I am finally free from you and I couldn't wait for that eighteenth birthday so I could go to your dad's house and not spend a moment close to you. You haven't been a mother to me for years and you know it. And sell the story about being there for me and putting me first for someone who doesn't know you.''

Stef got up from her chair and just looked at her son with so much anger and pain.

''Be careful what you are saying Brandon. I was always a good mother to you and did everything for you.''

''When? When you separated me from my dad? When you reported dad for drinking and I couldn't spend time with him? When you forced me to live with your girlfriend who was my teacher? You forced me to live with your mistress! With a woman who broke up our family and you wanted me to call her mama? MAMAama?! A woman who destroyed my family? You destroyed my family so you could play house with her?''

Lena lowered her gaze and tried to hide her tears. She had no idea he felt like that. It was the first time he ever spoke about her and Stef getting together.

''Should I go on ''MOTHER?'' Were you good mother when you brought two more children to our house? When you gave more attention to them than to me? When everything other kids did was ok and everything I did was cause for chaos? When you did everything in your power to make me feel like shit and that I was never good enough… I was always expected to be perfect. I was always supposed to be without any mistake and I did everything so you would be happy and proud of me. It was what I felt like I had to do to get some of your love and attention. I was the one to take care of everyone's need and no one cared about what I wanted or needed and whatever I did was wrong in your eyes. You got shot because of Mariana and her obsession to find Ana and be with Ana and you pretty much said nothing to her and I…''

Brandon was now standing too and looking at Stef with something none of the kids ever saw in his eyes. Jude and Callie knew that look. It was hate. They knew hate when they saw it. It was the look they've got so many times. They were trained to see it, but they never expected to see it in the eyes of son toward his mother. Callie and Jude saw Stef and Lena in a different way than Brandon. To them, two of them were salvation and to Brandon, they were not that good guys.

''Tell me this, mother of the year… What sort of a mother takes restraining order against her child?''

Callie lowered her gaze. HeIt was going there…

''Tell me… Tell me what mother punishes her own child for being in love and happy? What mother punishes people she says she loves, for love?''

''That? We are back to that?''

''Yes, that was the breaking point for me. After you did that, I was done with you…''

And then he looked around the table, looking at all the faces. Callie was crying, Lena was crying, Jude was scared for Callie and sad frofor Brandonangry, Stef was angry, Jesus looked sad and Mariana was scared.

''And then I was done with all of you…''

He looked at his other mother and siblings and continued talking.

''I've spent years being the best brother I could have been and none of you stood by me. No, some of you kicked me when I was down. Right Mariana?''

She lowered her gaze.

''I helped you so many times. And what did you do? You called me a rapist… you compared me to a person who harmed Callie… I can understand Jude and his attitude… He doesn't know me and to him it is logical that his foster brother might take advantage of his sister. I don't blame Jude, I can't. His experience taught him not to trust anyone. But you… I never expected that from you.''

Now Stef spoke.

''Why shouldn't we doubt it? We had every reason to believe you might have…''

That was the moment when Callie got up. Next thing was something none of them saw. Callie slapped Stef. Lena was in shock. She covered her mouth with her hand. Stef stood frozen not being able to process what just happened and kids were the same, including Brandon.

'' NEVER AGAIN! YOU HEAR ME?! NEVER AGAIN! I get you are angry about what happened. I get that you saw what we did as some sort of betrayal to you and Lena, but I'll be damned If I let you treat him that way. Brandon is not like that. He is not someone who forces or enforces anything. He is the best person I've ever met and thanks to him I became much better than I ever was. He gave me support, he gave me confidence, he gave me motivation, comfort, friendship, strength, motivation. He was always in my corner and always there to pick up shreds odof me none of you was interested in. He was there when I had flashbacks of some bad things that happened to me. He was awake with me night after night talking about my traumas and issues. He was there when things about Liam came out. He was there to help me push through hard times and things I would never get over… So, I will not allow you to make him and out time together into something dirty.''

Callie was close to crying and Lena and the kids had no idea what to say or do. It was clear to Lena that Callie had a lot to say on the topic and after really thinking about it, she realized they never really gave Callie a chance to say what she had to say.

''I expected these comments from many people, but never from you. Do you really think your son is capable of raping me? Do you really think that HE would do it…especially after what happened to him? Sometimes I am amazed how little you know of Brandon… I am so ashamed and disappointed right now. I've never been this ashamed of someone as much I am ashamed of all of you… Really Mariana? Comparing him to Liam? Mentioning something that has been my trauma just to hurt him because we did something that didn't fit into your idea of the family? Saying you love us and then hurting us in such a manner… Shame on you! All of you.''

She passed Stef and got to Brandon.

''Let me take you home B.''

She picked up her bag and he got out of the house after her. They got into the car and she drove off. Ride to the house was quiet. None of them said a word to each other. When they got into the house. Callie left her bag at the living room and Brandon went to the kitchen. He took a water bottle and opened it. After few sipssips, he just exhaled. He could finally breathe. He felt her arms around him and her body pressed against him. He put his hands over hers and they just stood like that for a moment. He turned to face her and he kissed her. They were kissing for some time and then he broke the kiss and took her hand and led her to the room. They didn't talk about what happened. They just made love. He was so gentle to her and took care of her in every way. He loved her more than anything and he wanted her to know that. He held her close and stoked her back. Her head was on his chest and she listened to his heartbeat.

''I'm sorry…''

''What for?''

''If I talked to Robert, we wouldn't have to…''

''No, Callie… This has nothing to do with you.''

She got her head off his chest and looked at him with a surprise on her face.

''Ok, maybe it has something to do with you, but in all honesty, those issues I have and bones I have to pick with my mother are some things that happened before you and Jude came to the house. I have ten years of things to clear out before we even start to talk about you and what happened with that.''

''Ok. But it's still something I feel bad about.''

''Callie, we would have had issues no matter what you did. Even if we never spoke in our life, Stef and I would have issues. I had a lot of things bottled up because I believed I had no right to feel what I felt.''

''What do you mean?''

''Well, I convinced myself I had no right to be angry, sad, feel like I feel because compared to Mariana and Jesus and some other kids that stayed with us for some short times, and later you and Jude…I did have a good life. I had both parents with me, plus Lena who is a caring person.''

Callie wanted to ask about him and Lena, but also wanted him to finish what he was saying. Moments when Brandon really opens up are not that often because he feels guilty for things he feels.

''Jesus and Mariana had a mother who was a drug addict and who gave birth to them when she was a bit over sixteen. And they had no idea who their dad was. He was out of the picture and not on any of their legal documents. Some other kids were abused by their parents or members of foster families. And then two of you came with your stories and I hid my feelings even deeper, because I felt like they had no value compared to what four of you felt and how you lived.''

His fingers touched a scar on her back and she flinched.

''You know… To me you are the most beautiful and special girl in the world…But I still know each and every scar on your body. I know some of the stories you told me about them and I know that there is a chance for me never to learn what are the real meanings behind some of them. And to me they are part of you and I don't think they are ugly or anything like that. They are part of you. They are proof that you made it. You survived and I love every single one of them because they are part of you and you are my love.''

She hated her scars. She was ashamed of them. Every time she saw them in the mirror or someone asked about them, she had flashback to the moment each of them was made. Hearing things Brandon was saying was something she never expected to hear. How could anyone love scars? How could anyone think they are beautiful? In her eyes they were ugly and symbol of her pain and torture that happened to her. But at that moment, when he told her that they are proof she was a survivor and something she should be proud of, she felt a glimmer of hope that he might be right.

''When do you have to get back?''

''I am staying with you.''

''Callie…''

''What can she do to me? She can ground me. And in a few days I will be eighteen and legally allowed to leave her home without consequences… She can't hurt us anymore Brandon.''

''I just don't want you to have problems.''

''Don't worry about me. Let me take care of you tonight.''

''I wish nothing more than that, but please…Go home…Don't give her anything she can use against you.''

Callie knew he was right. She got out of bed and took a quick shower. She put her clothes on and took a seat beside Brandon on the bed.

''I will leave in a minute, but if you want me to stay…''

''I want you to stay, but it's not a good idea. Callie from next weekend on, you can move in here if you want, but until that Friday don't give them ammunition they can use against you or me.''

''Ok…''

She kissed him few more times and got up from the bed.

''I'll call you…''

''Good luck there…''

''I love you Brandon.''

''I love you too Callie.''

She left the house and got into her car. She drove back to the Fosters' house and she was a bit nervous. She was sure there will be some sort of argument when she enters that door. She remembered slapping Stef and she knew it will not be forgotten. She would have to apologize, but strangely, she didn't feel sorry at all and she would have done it again if she had to. And that was something she didn't like. Stef was her mom and she didn't regret being physical with her. She entered the house and saw Stef and Lena in the living room. She knew they were waiting for her. She put her bag on the stairs and entered the living room.

''Nice of you to show up…''

''I still have about thirty minutes to the curfew.''

Stef didn't like when her kids had response to her criticism.

''Is there something you would like to say?''

''Yes, there is.''

Stef hoped for the apology and Lena did too in a way.

''I am listening…''

''Brandon is ok and much calmer.''

''Anything else?''

''No… Nothing else… Good night.''

She got up from the chair she was sitting in and started to walk out of the living room.

''This is not over.''

She turned back to Stef.

''It never is… But at some point we will have to end it.''

''What are you talking about?''

''This… Whatever is going on. You have to resolve your issues with him.''

''And what about you?''

''What about me?''

''You hit me…''

''You hurt him.''

''So, it's about Brandon.''

''I am going to bed.''

''Callie….''

She was ready to snap at Stef when Lena stepped in.

''Let her go… It's late and we have work in the morning. Let's all go to bed and talk about this some other time. You both are angry and some hurtful things will come out from both of you and we don't need that now. It's for the best for two of you to cool off and take a moment. We can shelf this conversation, but when we have the talk, we should all be there and get things in the clear.''

Callie went to the room and when she got in, she saw a very angry Mariana waiting for her.

''Look who is back?!''

''Hello to you too Mariana.''

''What were you thinking today?''

She just gave her a look.

''Why would you do it Callie?''

''Mariana, I want to sleep. We will talk some other time.''

''Callie, I hope you are not doing something stupid.''

''I never do Mariana.''

She got ready for bed and when she got out of bathroom, she met with Jude. He looked scared.

''Are you ok buddy?''

''Can we talk?''

''Now?''

''Now or tomorrow, but I want to talk to you alone.''

''Ok... Do you want us to go somewhere and talk? How about I take you to the mall?''

''Sure. I love it.''

''Ok. Tomorrow after we wake up, we can go.''

Jude woke her up in the morning and they left an hour later. Mariana wanted to go with them but Jesus explained to her that it was Jude and Callie time they really needed so she backed off. Jude loved her new car and felt a bit jealous that Robert, Jill and Sofia were big part of her life. He didn't understand why would she need them when she has moms but he never dared to ask. In all honesty, there were many things he didn't dare to ask her about. He was afraid of what her answers might be. He was scared to ask her how she really felt about Brandon. Since his feelings for Connor grew and became serious, for the first time in his life he started wondering about Callie and Brandon and how they might feel. They arrived to the mall and Callie offered Jude to buy him something he might want. He just nodded and they started going from shop to shop. Callie got him few shirts and two pairs of pants. He thanked her and they continued her shopping for college. She took some things for her dorm and she got some shirts and dresses for school. Part of Callie was glad they had this time together since they didn't do many things in last couple of months. But she also feared being alone and far from the family because she knew Jude would ask about Brandon. She was sure he would have a lot of questions about yesterday and her spending the night there. Jude picked the place they would eat and they were waiting for the food to arrive and sipping their drinks. Callie noticed how Jude was looking at her and she was waiting for the moment when he would ask her about him.

''How did you know you were ready to have sex?''

That was something she didn't expect.

''Well, I didn't have much choice when it came to my first experiences when it came to sex…''

''I know… But when you could choose…How did you know?''

''Is this about you and Connor?''

Now he started blushing.

''Are you interested in having sex?''

''I don't know…''

Callie took a moment and then spoke.

''Well, if you don't know if you want to have sex, then it's not time. When you are sure you want it, then it's time. Where there is no doubt in your mind that you and Connor should be together in that way, then do it. Especially since it's your first time. I don't think any first time is perfect, but at least it would be something you wanted and special because it was with someone who you love or who matters to you.''

''Was it like that for you and Brandon?''

Callie was not sure what she should say.

''Jude…''

''I really want to know Callie…''

She took a moment before she answered his question. Maybe her honesty would get Jude to warm up to the idea of two of them as more than siblings. She hoped Jude would understand how she feel for Brandon and how much she is suffering without him.

''Yes, it was. You know what happened to me and you can assume how much it took to let someone else that close. I tried with Wyatt…with AJ… but it didn't feel right. I did like them. They were both good to me, but none of them was…''

''Brandon?''

Callie paused. That was not what she wanted to say.

''That too, but what I wanted to say was something else. I wanted to say and regardless of how good they were, I never felt safe with them enough to let myself have sex with them. They didn't force me or anything. As soon as I said I couldn't they said it was O.K. and never tried again. They both said they would wait for me to say when I want to do it or if I want to do it and I was grateful for it. With how messed up I am, I had a lot on my mind. I was scared that they could force me or try to convince me to do it. They didn't and I am glad they didn't.''

''And Brandon?''

She just smiled. She couldn't control it. Every time her mind went back to that night, she always had huge grin.

''Brandon… It just happened… I told him about recording I sent Rita and that on it there was part where Carmen spoke about us being together and GU and that it would make moms very mad. And all he was thinking about was me and what would happen to me. We went to bed. Each of us went to our own room and I got into bed. I couldn't sleep. All I could think of was how I was finally free and how I am not getting adopted and there are no reasons to hold back anymore. If he hadn't showed up, I would have gone to him.''

He just listened to Callie trying to imagine how she felt. And that expression finally free caught his ear.

''You felt free? The moment you realized you might not get adopted you felt free?''

''Yes, I did… I was happy when I realized it might be done. It felt like some sign from above that it was time to do things for myself. To do what I wanted… Like I finally had a chance to be with him. You were adopted and safe. I was ready to live with Robert just to be with him. I was ready to finally let go and take that leap he was waiting for me to take.''

''And then?''

''Then he showed up. And when I saw him I jumped into his arms and we couldn't keep our hands of each other. We spent hours in each other's arms and I've never felt more alive and complete. I wished that night would never end and that we could stay like that forever. I didn't care for the world outside that room. I've never felt happier than that night. I didn't care about anything else but Brandon and our love that finally became something more. We wanted one another for months. I was day dreaming about him and how would it be like to be with him? How would it feel to be in his arms without restrictions and questioning myself?''

''And why did you get adopted then?''

'' I got scared… He didn't want me to lose the family and safety.''

''Do you regret it?''

''Being with him?''

''No, getting adopted…''

It didn't take her long to answer.

''Yes, I doid… I regretted it the moment it happened. Just few days before adoption I was making love to him and then he was my brother. Everyone was so happy and glad for me, and I was dead inside.''

''And now? It has been a year… How do you feel now?''

''Jude… I don't want to talk about it… We were talking about you and Connor.''

''We were, but I want to know about you… You are leaving soon and I have a feeling I don't know you anymore Callie. You shut me out from the moment I said you were selfish and messing up our chances of getting adopted.''

He was right. Callie was hurt and angry because he said that to her. He took her hand and squeezed it.

''I am sorry Callie.''

''What for?''

'' For preventing you from being happy. After I started seeing Connor and having feelings for him, I started thinking of you and how you might feel. I can't stand the fact I can't touch him in public and I hate that we hide from so many people. I think I understand for the first time how you feel. I want to die when they talk to him about girls and try to set him up with someone else. I don't know what I would have done if I had to see him with someone else.''

Callie was glad Jude said the words she longed to hear.

''Jude, it takes time to understand and feel some things. I don't blame you and neither does B, even when he is angry at the world, he understands your fears. In his mind, you are the only one with a pass. Brandon knows where we came from and what happened in homes before we came to live with them. That is why he never said a word to you.''

''And he was angry at the others?''

''He still is…''

''Why?''

''Because they maybe didn't know our past, but they knew him. Mariana and Jesus grew up with him. Stef gave birth to him and Lena knows him since he was five…and they believed he would have done something like Liam did to me. That hurts. That is betrayal on a different level. Yes, we went behind everyone's back. And I am ok with all of you being angry and feeling all sorts of things, BUT I will NEVER be ok with him being called rapist. Especially by moms who know about what happened to him. First of all, Brandon would never hurt me in that way. He always cared too much about me to even put me in a position to do something I didn't want to. And second….''

She had a smirk now….

''…I wanted him…. I wanted to be with him in all the ways I can. I wanted to have sex with him for months before it happened. I had a lot of time to think about it and change my mind. And when it happened, it was so good because it felt right. I felt loved, wanted, respected and he listened…even then. He didn't do anything I didn't want or might me triggered by and it matters. After Liam that is the most important thing. Maybe in the eyes of some people what we did was wrong. But I can't agree. Something that good and right could never be wrong.''

She took his hand and smiled.

''Listen to me Jude… Love could never be wrong, especially when it is something you get in return. And in all honesty, you can find a reason for every relationship to be wrong if you really want it. Moms are wrong because they are two women, Mariana and Matt are wrong because she cheated, you and Connor are wrong because you are too young to know you are attracted to boys, Jesus and Lexi are wrong because he was with Emma when she came back…and the list goes on…''

Jude felt bad for things he said about Brandon and he was even more sorry he hurt his sister.

''Are you getting back together?''

She was being honest with Jude, but she was not ready to tell him everything. She still had some trust issues with her brother.

''We will see. We are leaving soon for college. There is no point starting something and being trapped in long distance without knowing when and where we would have a chance to see each other. So, for now it will have to wait.''

''But then you have to annul the adoption?''

''Yes, and I will when the time comes.''

Jude just looked at her.

''So you want to be with him?''

''Yes, I do. But it takes two to tango. Maybe he doesn't want me anymore.''

''I wouldn't be so sure… I think he does…and he will even after your college years.''

She couldn't help but smile.

''Let's not get ahead of ourselves. It will have to wait for the right moment.''

''Ok. But make sure not to miss the moment if being with him what you really want.''

''Ok. Why are you pushing this? How can you suddenly be ok with us?''

''I want to see you happy and you are not. I spent so much time not wanting to accept you love him. It's time I let you be happy. Even if I still find it weird and it will take me a lot of time so get used to two of you as a couple. You are my sister by blood, but her is my family too and so I have to see my two siblings in a relationship and that is not easy thing to swallow.''

''I am sure…''

''Ok… Let's then give it time and give you time to finally pick what you want.''

Their food arrived and that ended the conversation about Brandon. Jude knew he got more than he hoped for so he knew when to let go. He knew Callie is a very closed off and private person and he was grateful she gave him more information than he hoped for. So, now he started talking about Connor and his trip to Europe and how he was going to miss him. He loved talking about Connor and she was happy that Jude had love in his life.

They came back to an empty house. Callie washed her and Jude's new clothes and put them in the closet and Jude invited Connor to come to the house. She spent some time with them and went upstairs to her room. She called Brandon and they talked for some time. They agreed to meet later. He wanted her to come to the house. His band was coming and they would be ordering some food and probably playing in the backyard. She told him she would be there and promised to get some deserts. She knew what would make Brandon and the rest very happy. There was small bakery close to his house so she called them and ordered three pies, one was key lime pie and others were apple pies. She texted moms that she would be out tonight and that she will be back in the morning. Stef and Lena were not really happy about it, but there was not much they could do now. Incident with Brandon was too fresh to cause something new and they felt shift in Callie that they didn't like. Lena was sure that if they push her some more, they would cause her to cut off all the ties with them after she leaves. Stef heard her wife say something like that and she didn't believe her, but she couldn't say she didn't have a moment where she stopped and wondered the same thing. Unlike Lena, Stef made a choice not to believe it. She refused to believe that Callie would leave the family in that way. Callie made lunch from what was in the fridge and left instructions for moms or Mariana how to heat it up. She also sent moms a message that Connor was at the house. Stef immediately asked if she was checking up on two of them. Mariana and Jesus came just as Callie was getting ready to leave. She was in a long black dress with different color flowers on it. Her hair was up in a bun and she had very little make up on. Mariana was not expecting to see Callie get dressed to go out.

''Wow! Where are you going?''

She was not sure if she should say something.

''I am going out.''

''Nooo… I wanted to hang out with you tonight. Matt has something today and he can't go to the movies. I was counting on you being house mouse and forcing you out.''

''I am sorry. But I can't do today. Some other day?''

''Sure…''

Mariana checked her out.

''You have a date?''

''No, why?''

''That is a new dress.''

Callie knew there was no chance Mariana wouldn't notice.

''Yes, it is and it's not a date. It's a small gathering.''

''Oh, and where is it?''

''None of your business…''

''Fine, if it's not a date and it is a small gathering. Take me with you.''

''I can't…''

''Why?''

Callie looked at Mariana a bit sad.

''Because I am going to Brandon's place. The band is there and he wanted everyone to hang out.''

''So, both my boyfriend and sister are hiding this for me?''

''We didn't want you to feel bad…''

''Because you are hiding things?''

''No, because Brandon didn't invite any of you.''

''So, two of you are just cool now… Hanging out and stuff…''

''Mariana….''

''Are you back together? Are you going to betray us again over someone who doesn't care about us anymore…Or even never cared at all. After that speech over dinner, I am sure he always hated us.''

Callie didn't respond.

''I am late and you are angry so I will not even go there. And your beef is not with me, but with Brandon. You should talk. I am sure he has a lot to say to you as you do to him. So, do it…Without involving any of us. He has to clear up things with every single one of you and that doesn't involve me. And I am ok with him saying what he has to say. We talked about our issues and many things got out and maybe not resolved, but at least it's out now. You should do the same. You are hurt by things he did, he is hurt by things you did. Call him one day and talk to him.''

Callie left the house and went to pick up food and then drove to Brandon's. When she got there, almost entire band was already there. Lu was putting the food on the table and Callie joined her with the pies.

''Hey.''

''Hey Callie. I see you are going to be their favorite with pies and ice cream.''

Callie just smiled.

''What else did they bring?''

''There is some barbecue we will have to heat up in the oven, there are some salads, some
