Chapter 368 - A one-day tour of the Demon Realm

In the Forest of Cultivation, near the royal demon capital in the Demon Realm.

"So have we finally gone from being a messenger group to a tour group?"

As Joshua rode through the forest on his horse, he looked back and stared at the convoy of four carriages.

The two carriages at the back were carrying gifts from King Farruci to the Demon Realm. Most of the items were luxury items such as precious paintings and gems, while a few items were precious and useful magical items.

The first two carriages were carrying the Farucci delegation of eight people. Only four of them were professional diplomats from Farruci, while the other four were noble girls who had been lucky enough to 'win' a one-day tour trip to the demon capital.

"You don't look too happy, Your Highness."

Zenarth kept up with Joshua on his horse by walking at his own pace. Joshua had been sighing the entire time he was back in his native homeland.

"Don't you want those human women to come to the King's City?"

"Of course I'd like to see people come to the Demon Realm with 'anticipation'. But the Demon Realm currently can't meet the expectations of these young girls."

Joshua actually agreed with General Rockmont that Zenarth was an exception among Sin Demons.

After all, most of the demons in the Demon Realm were very hostile to humans…

"I can guarantee the safety of these humans, but I haven't figured out how to convince the Sin Demons in the King's City to … uh … let these girls have their way and touch their hair," Joshua said, glancing at Zenarth beside him.

The Sin Demon had a sleeping girl sitting on his shoulder. Joshua had no idea where she had come from or how she was able to sleep in this position.

But Joshua did not interfere with Zenarth's decision of bringing her along.

"I have been busy all this time trying to change the human perception of the demons, but the demons are still prejudiced against the humans."

"Your Highness, please let me convince them," Zenarth suddenly said.

"You can convince your people?" Joshua searched the third prince's memory and found that the Sin Demon had been with him for as long as the third prince could remember.

This position had been appointed by Nordlein.

"I fought alongside His Majesty Nordlein against the invading humans at the border fortress decades ago. I was hailed as a hero by my people upon my return." There was no emotion in Zenarth's voice as he said this.

There was no pride or excitement, it was just a monotone voice.

"It's the first time I've heard of this."

Joshua didn't expect the seemingly dull Zenarth to have experienced such a legendary tale.

"It's not a past worth remembering," Zenarth replied.

"Your attitude towards humans is not like that of a demon who used to slay them by the dozens." Joshua glanced again at the little girl sitting on Zenarth's shoulder, who seemed to have been woken up.

"Life at the border fortress is a lot more boring than in Norland." said Zenarth with a small grin.

It was the first time that Joshua saw an expression that could be described as "cunning" on the face of the big lion, who otherwise could be described as a simple and honest being.

But Joshua could not refute Zenarth's reasoning. If you could get humans to surround you with joy and admiration, why would you want to be their enemy?

"Well, you'll have to worry about the girls when they go off to play with the wild Sin Demons," Joshua said.

...

General Voss was standing at the gates of the King's Castle in his attire.

At his request, Her Highness Cecily had agreed to have him join the group of demons receiving the human delegation.

But General Voss had paid the price for it. He had been pushed into a large bath and had his hair thoroughly washed inside and out by the sentinels under Cecily's command!

General Voss, who had always been fighting on the battlefield, had never understood the meaning of "cleanliness". To him, the smell of human blood on his body was a symbol of honour, something to be proud of!

But today, the smell of blood, a symbol of honour, had been rinsed from his body along with the bubble foam. Now, the smell had been replaced by a pleasant floral scent.

General Voss couldn't stand the smell of flowers. It made him smell like a street corner succubus prostitute, but what was even more unbearable for General Voss was the fact that his armour had been replaced with something different.

It was a garment made out of useless fabric, and the part of his chest that had been tightened made him feel uncomfortable.

"General Voss, are you satisfied with this dress?"

a vampire under the Duke of Blood's command asked him.

"I would be satisfied if I'd been given a weapon." General Voss didn't look at the vampire, who was half his size.

He was a baron named Charlot, and just like Duke of Blood, had a peace-loving attitude towards humans.

Which meant General Voss hated him.

"Please try to act graceful, General Voss. We want to make a good impression on the human envoys visiting here," he said.

"A good impression? Don't you vampires think of humans as food? What good does impressing your food do?"

General Voss said in a sarcastic and merciless voice.

"We have always respected any woman, regardless of her race. The blood of a human girl is a gift to us, not food!"

In a righteous-sounding voice, Baron Charlot corrected the Sin Demon's misconceptions about his people.

"Hypocrites."

General Voss ignored the chatter of the vampire beside him and looked out to the edge of the horizon.

There, he could already see a convoy of vehicles moving towards them.

Are they coming? The humans.

General Voss fully expected a battle to break out. He had initially envisaged a caravan of hundreds of powerful human mages ready to assault the city.

The Sin Demon tensed his body, ready for battle.

The human caravan was now approaching the walls of the city, but General Voss counted only four carriages.

Four wagons? That's only about twenty men at most, and … No, he could not let his guard down.

As much as he hated to admit it, General Voss had seen those extremely powerful human mages on the battlefield. He felt very uncomfortable facing such people.

He had no doubt that the humans would be justified in sending their best on this infiltration mission. Just two dozen of them would be enough to inflict serious damage on the city.

At last, the carriages came to a slow halt at the gates. Baron Charlot, who was beside General Voss, tried to greet them with a smile on his face, but was stopped by General Voss's huge paw.

General Voss stared at the first carriage and, when the door opened, a human with a fierce scar on his face stepped out.

From that man, General Vos felt an aura of "might".

Had they sent their best?

General Voss then stared at the three other humans who had emerged from the back of the carriage, but their aura was pitifully weak. One was an old man on crutches.

What was going on? Were they hiding their strength?

General Voss did not expect this human expeditionary force to be ... so weak.

He looked at the other carriage. When the door of the carriage opened and a young girl in fancy clothes jumped out, the Sin Demon general's mind was instantly filled with questions.

What were these humans up to?
