Chapter 370 - Meeting

For the sake of his daughter's safety, General Rockmont had taken the initiative to join the delegation of emissaries visiting the Demon Realm.

He had been in an uneasy mood ever since he had entered this realm.

The Demon Realm was a completely new world to humans, and even the greatest adventurers had rarely left their mark on it.

Which meant that most of what they knew about the Demon Realm came from the various canons of the Nation of the Holy Church.

It was written that "the sky of their realm is blood scarlet, the ground is covered with lava, magma gushes out of cracks in the earth, and the air is poisonous enough to kill a man."

Although General Rockmont's common sense told him that what was written in the canons was nonsense, he had nonetheless prepared himself well before coming to the Demon Realm.

He had his daughter wear a family heirloom, a small "cold star" to protect her from the heat. He had also brought along a mage who was proficient in the Flowing Water and Healing system.

But it was only after entering the Demon Realm that General Rockmont realised that his preparations had been redundant.

The Demon Realm looked no different from the human world. If he hadn't looked up and seen the colourful nebulae and the two huge celestial bodies intertwined in the skies, he would not have believed that he was in another world.

He knew those purple and silver celestial bodies well. They were the moons of the human world.

But General Rockmont had no idea that these two moons would look so … big in the Demon Realm.

He hadn't studied astrology, but he could tell that the colorful nebulae in the sky looked much more pretty here than in the night sky of the human world.

"Please come this way."

Baron Charlot's voice interrupted General Rockmont's musings.

The envoys had now reached the gates of the demon capital. General Rockmont's eyes were continuously fixed on the Sin Demon leading the way.

Although his preconceptions of the demonic environment had been wrong, General Rockmont could not underestimate the danger that these demons posed.

The demon had already shown an attacking stance. If it hadn't been for the subordinates of the Third Prince Joshua, the demon would probably have attacked his daughter.

Thinking of how to deal with this demon gave General Rockmont a headache.

What he was really worried about was whether the Demon Realm truly welcomed them.

The alliance between Farruci and the Demon Realm had been brokered by the Third Prince, but General Rockmont understood that the various factions of a nation were extremely complex, and that each one had a different stance.

With this doubt in his mind, he walked through the streets of the capital.

The other demons living in the royal city had noticed the presence of the emissaries. Looking at the open windows of the houses in the surrounding streets, General Rockmont was certain that the Demon Realm was a multi-ethnic country.

The streets were somewhat deserted, but from an architectural point of view, the city was not inferior to the royal capital of Farruci. The streets were paved with unknown stones and wide enough for carriages to easily pass through.

Even the capital of Farucci had muddy roads in many parts of the city.

It was clear that the demon capital had once been prosperous, but had now fallen into disrepair.

General Rockmont followed Baron Charlot with anxiety all the way to the embassy. It was the only building in the entire royal city that had some resemblance to 'human' architecture.

As he followed Baron Charlot into the embassy hall, his eyes were instantly drawn to a figure standing on the first floor of the hall.

"Welcome, emissaries from Farruci. My name is Cecily Annerlaude, the Second Princess of the royal family of Chaos Demons."

Cecily slowly walked down the stairs. Today, she was wearing the traditional outfit of a sentinel.

But the male emissaries from Farruci below had frozen at the sight of Cecily.

General Rockmont, who already had a beautiful daughter working in the Black Swan theatre troupe, felt his sense of aesthetics breaking down.

The Black Swan troupe was a collection of the most beautiful girls in Farucci, if not the entire world according to General Rockmont. But today, General Rockmont realised that he had been too narrow-minded.

There was something about Cecily that was different from stage actors. The mere sight of her felt like having a long sword against one's neck. But it was a kind of pressure that felt more akin to pleasure than a threat to any man.

"It is an honour to meet you, Your Highness."

General Rockmont sighed in relief. He had been having strong doubts as to whether the diplomat appointed by His Majesty would be able to keep a cool head when discussing a possible human-demon cooperation with Sin Demons. Talking to someone such as Cecily would be much easier on the nerves.

"We are here to bring greetings from His Majesty, king Klund III of Farruci."

"Please, let's talk about this in the back hall."

Cecily's eyes fell on Joshua who was at the end of the group. He instinctively averted his gaze.

"Joshua, you're coming with us."

"..."

He was about to sneak away, but because of his sister's command, he could only sigh and follow the group.

The first friendly encounter between humans and demons had gone much more smoothly than Joshua had anticipated.

It was probably because of his sister's appearance that the exchange with the Farruci emissaries passed in a very relaxed atmosphere.

The diplomatic talks were exclusively about a peace treaty between the ruler of the Demon Realm and Farucci. The envoys also asked Cecily about which specialties the Demon Realm had, hoping to trade with them.

Joshua was completely clueless in this area, as was Gallolie, who was leading the troupe members.

Both Joshua and Gallolie coincidentally began to spend their time browsing the magic network. Gallolei was checking out the mage forum while Joshua was chatting with Ciri.

The memorable meeting lasted nearly three hours and ended with a hearty laugh from General Rockmont.

"We have prepared a room for you to rest in if you are tired," Cecily said.

"I thank Your Highness for your hospitality."

After the negotiations ended, General Rockmont had completely thrown his earlier image of demons, as proclaimed by the church's canons, into the rubbish bin.

The visiting emissaries stood up and were led away by the sentinels under Cecily's command.

"Mr. Joshua …" Gallolie said, as if she wanted to say something.

"Wait outside with your companions, I have some family business to discuss with my sister first," Joshua said.

Ever since she had met Joshua, her mischievous character had been completely revealed. But on formal occasions such as these, she would of course still act very reasonable.

The Black Swan troupe and the elven bodyguard, who had been hiding in the shadows, left the hall. When the door closed behind them, Joshua and Cecily were the only ones left.
