Chapter 371 - Meow?

Cecily stood up from her seat.

"Older sister?"

Joshua hadn't figured out yet why his older sister wanted to be alone with him, so he tentatively shouted.

But Cecily didn't respond. She slowly walked in front of Joshua.

An inexplicable sense of danger spread in Joshua's heart. Before Joshua could speak, Cecily suddenly stretched out her hand and … gently touched Joshua's cheek.

The temperature of Cecily's fingertips was a little cold. Although Joshua didn't push Cecily away, he was inwardly ready to resist.

Joshua could see his face reflected in Cecily's crimson pupils, and his own expression looked very uncomfortable.

Extremely subtle magic power gradually infiltrated into Joshua's body through Cecily's fingertips.

It was however harmless, and Joshua didn't feel any discomfort.

"Sister, what are you doing?" Uncomfortable, Joshua asked, grabbing Cecily's arm.

"Checking your body."

Cecily let go of Joshua's cheek and took a few steps back.

"Did the Duke of Bones do anything too much to you?" Cecily's gaze fell on Joshua's palm.

Cecily had known for a while now that Duke of Bones had signed a contract with Joshua.

After the contract was signed, Joshua had gone to the human world. Cecily therefore guessed that what Joshua was doing in the human world might have something to do with the Duke of Bones.

"The contents of this contract only consists of the Duke of Bones entrusting half of her soul to me," Joshua said.

"Her soul? Joshua... Do you remember what happened when you carried out your first alchemy experiment as a child?" Cecily asked suddenly.

"Uh, are you asking about the experiment that almost blew up the altar? My father locked me up for seven days. If it wasn't for older sister who secretly brought me food, I would have starved to death."

Joshua had already guessed why Cecily would ask him that.

"Did I worry too much?" Cecily mumbled to herself, and a faint smile finally appeared on her tense face.

"You actually did it, Joshua ... Letting a human nation accept us. It's something I wanted to do but failed."

"It's actually not that difficult," Joshua said.

"Not difficult…"

Joshua's humble words made Cecily feel very complicated.

Ever since Cecily took over the sentinel position of the Demon Realm, she had been trying to find various ways to get in touch with humans, but all avenues ended in failure.

Human individuals could not trust demons. Having an entire human nation recognise the existence of demons was even more out of the question.

That was her belief until she sent Prophet to Norland, and Prophet told Cecily all about her experience in Norland.

It was only then that she realized that she had been wrong from the beginning, and that she was still getting it wrong.

But her younger brother, who she once thought needed her protection, had done a far better job of it than herself.

As a result, Cecily was harboring this feeling of shame in her heart.

"Joshua, perhaps you are more suitable for the position of ruler of the Demon Realm."

The expression on Cecily's face didn't change as she said this, but the 'nobles' of the Demon Realm would have been shocked if they had heard this.

"What you have done for the Demon Realm proves that you have this qualification."

"I don't have that kind of talent, sister. I've given up my claim to the throne. Are you going to give up like me?" Joshua asked.

"I'm not suitable for father's position either." Cecily slowly walked to the window, through which Cecily could see the streets of the city.

"Everything I did after becoming a sentinel was to make the Demon Realm as peaceful and prosperous as a human city. But Knox's ideas are too radical. If he becomes the ruler, the city will be dragged down by the flames of war, so I will not give up."

"I'll be happy to support you behind the shadows," Joshua said.

"Lord Zenarth! Can you truly tolerate those human beings running wild on our territory?"

General Voss angrily tore off the tightly bound human costume from his body, and angry flames gushed out of his mouth.

"We should make those cunning humans cower in fear! Not allow them to step into the sacred grounds of our race!" General Voss said.

Zenarth ignored the doubts of his own clansmember. A message from the magic network occupied most of his vision.

He was not chatting with anyone, but was reading a speech written by Joshua.

It wasn't the first time that Zenarth had followed a script. It took him more than a minute to read Joshua's script.

"I want to return to the Abyss of Sin and inform the people of the news that humans have come to the Demon Realm."

A dark green portal appeared in front of Zenarth, the portal leading to the birthplace of the Sin Demons.

General Voss followed Zenarth into the portal, and through the portal they came to a canyon the aurora borealis shone in the sky.

There was a small town on either side of the canyon. A few underage Sin Demons could be seen on the streets.

"Lord Zenarth."

The young Sin Demons quickly discovered the portal created by Zenarth. They immediately stopped what they were doing and ran in front of Zenarth.

The young demons were too young to control the flames coming out of their mouths, and a few of the juvenile Sin Demons even spit out a few small flames as they spoke.

Zenarth touched the forehead of one of the Sin Demons and said: "Have elder Monas gather everyone."

The young Sin Demon obediently ran into the depths of the town.

After around ten minutes, the thousands of Sin Demons living in the town had gathered in front of Zenarth.

Although all Sin Demons were born in the Abyss of Sin, it took a long time for the Abyss to breed a new Sin Demon. The Sin Demon spawned could either be a young or a full-grown adult one.

Most of the Sin Demons living in the town were immature young'uns. Only a minority of them were adults.

"Is there any order from His Majesty Nordlein?"

A diminutive Sin Demon emerged from the swarm. He was the only elder in the group and one of the oldest Sin Demons.

"His Majesty Nordlein has not issued any orders. I am here to inform you that a group of human beings have come to the Demon Realm," Zenarth said.

"Humans?"

"Has the border fortress been breached?!"

The young Sin Demons covered their ears in fear.

Sin Demons were trained as warriors from birth, and one of the few things they learned was that "human beings are dangerous beings".

"The border fortress has not been breached. I have brought those humans to the Demon Realm."

Zenarth's words silenced all the Sin Demons, including General Voss, who had expected Zenarth to call on all his clansmen to drive those humans out.

This silence made Zenarth forget what to say. He opened the magic network, secretly glanced at the script Joshua had provided him, and continued speaking.

"I have brought back those humans, because they are worshippers of the Sin Demons," Zenarth said to all the people in a high voice.

"Worshippers?"

Those Sin Demons who have never seen human beings were unable to understand the meaning of Zenarth's words. They all had bewildered expressions.

This script of His Highness...didn't seem to be working very well.

But Zenarth recalled his experience with Norland. He knew that the speech was definitely not a lie.

"I've met many worshippers of Sin Demons in the human world! Especially female humans, who think that mere hand-to-hair contact with our species is a sacred thing..."

As General Voss watched on with an incredulous expression, Zenarth told all the Sin Demons about his experience in the human world.

This experience included being surrounded by a group of human women screaming. Many humans would pay a huge price just to meet him.

"There are also humans who have offered me a lot of tribute, tribute which includes creatures from the sea."

Many Sin Demons heard this and exclaimed in amazement.

The only place in the Demon Realm that could really be called a sea was the domain of the Water Elemental Overlord, but no one was allowed to step foot there.

Therefore, being able to use the things in the ocean as food was something extremely luxurious for Sin Demons.

The Sin Demons worshiped Zenarth a bit like the ruler of the Demon Realm, Nordlein, and treated him as a God.

Those Sin Demons who had never seen the world had already started believing in Zenarth's words. Even General Voss, who has seen the world, had his heart shaken.

Because, indeed, those human women had interacted with him just now in a … frighteningly excited way.
