Sub Basement
"Boy am I glad you're here." the Quartermaster said as Sam and Daniel pulled on protective gear and adjusted respirators.
One of the servicemen helped her on with a small backpack.
"Are you sure all this is necessary?" Daniel asked.
"No but … well you'll see." the Quartermaster said as he backed away.
The door to the sub basement room was not only locked there were signs declaring no admittance and tape sealing the edges of the door.
They each had been given a flashlight which seemed strange since there was electric lighting. Sam brought along a meter or two and her zat. This made Daniel more wary than the cumbersome outfit.
With a boxcutter a serviceman cut the tape sealing the door and backed away. He left a set of keys dangling from the lock on the door. Sam turned the knob and pulled and tugged. The door came free with pop and creaked as it swung open. Just inside the door Daniel found the switch and flicked on the light. The overhead lights crackled and sparked.
"Okay, flashlights it is."
The beam of the flashlights barely pierced the gloom of the large dank room. There were crates and cartons stacked haphazardly covered with layers of dust and festooned with spider webs.
"I've been in nicer dungeons." Daniel said through the very staticky headset.
"Well at least we're not locked in." Sam replied just as the door to the outside slammed shut.
I didn't plan on continuing this but...
