Chapter 7
Sam popped open a container - it was filled with vials. Daniel reached a hand in to take one.
"Don't touch those." Sam demanded.
"What?" Daniel squawked as he bobbled the vial.
In a calmer tone of voice Sam said "I think they're DNA samples but I don't know for sure."
"This is from 1947! Do you think Loki was gathering DNA samples then?"
"I wouldn't be surprised." Sam thought about it for a minute and said "I have to call Jack."
"Jack?" Daniel smirked.
"Yes, Daniel. General O'Neill, the ambassador to the Asgard."
"Mmm hmm." Finished being a wise ass Daniel asked "Why didn't Loki save his man?"
"They're clones, one dies, just make another. But do you really think they found a body? There is no evidence here. You can't believe everything you read or those nonsense "documentaries" or "alien autopsies.""
"Yeah, Jack thinks they're, to quote him, horseshit."
"You got him to watch one?" Sam asked.
"Teal'c, too. He laughed, actually laughed."
"We need to have all of this shipped to Area 51. You can have the paperwork, I'll take the engine."
"Gee thanks." Daniel was not thrilled. Then he asked "What about the vials?"
"I'll have those directed to the biological division at 51. I think we are just about done here."
On a secure phone line:
"O'Neill"
"Jack"
"Hey, good to hear from you. What did you find?"
"I think I have an engine component." Sam sounded happy.
"And?"
"Some biologicals and enough paper to cover the gate room."
"No bodies?"
"No sir. No, just some vials."
"I knew it. Have fun with the doohickies. Gotta go, I have a meeting, like, now."
"Do you think you'd have time to come to Area 51 to inspect our find?"
"I think I can carve out a long weekend." Jack thought about all he'd like to inspect and alien engines were not on his list. "Maybe a whole week. It is an important find."
"I'll look forward to your visit."
"Love you."
"Love you too."
"Sir, they're finished and all the materials from the bunker are being transported to the Groom Lake facility, care of Colonel Carter." The quartermaster reported.
"Major Kotsch, did they ask to inspect the freezers?"
The quartermaster replied "No sir. It never came up and it wasn't mentioned in their orders."
"Very well, Major." And with that General Carper hung up the phone and left that problem for another day, hopefully after he retired.
The End
