Cecilia had been rescued from the dungeon, free at last. But what good was freedom when she was only three inches tall? Worse, she would likely soon be even smaller. She had to find a way to regain her normal size, and be free of the strange size curse. Only then would she be fit to stand on the battlefield once more. Until then, she was a mere miniature mage.
Many of the soldiers of the Lycian League rushed inside the castle, intent on seizing total control. As Roy ventured outside he hid the tiny ladies, a single hand sufficient to keep them from view. Until he understood what was going on, he could only let his most trusted allies know of the miniaturized mages he found in the prison.
Back outside, he hesitantly lifted his hand. Roy worried that a bird might swoop down, and snatch his tiny teacher from his hand. Cecilia didn't share his concerns, pushing apart his fingers to let more light through. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath. The smell of nature was overpowering to the downsized woman, scents from the grass and trees magnified many times. When she had been locked up in that cell, she thought she may never be outdoors ever again. Her escape, even at a tiny size, had been a blessing.

"So, what now?" Roy asked.
"You should know the answer to that one." Cecilia said, crossing her arms. "You are the commander of this army, are you not?"
"I suppose, but..." Roy hesitated, but Sophia intervened.
"I know of a way... To turn us back to normal..." The dark mage breathed.
"You do?" Cecilia asked, turning to the bigger girl.
"Yes... This spell is like a curse..." Sophia explained, "Or an ailment... A restore staff should remove it..."
"Oh. That's... A lot simpler than I was expecting." Cecilia noted.
"We just need a restore staff?" Roy asked.
"And someone who could use it." Cecilia pointed out. "I'm hardly in the right state to use one myself. Is there someone in your ranks who is skilled with staves?"
"Well..."

Avoiding the commotion made by celebrating soldiers, Roy carefully made his way around the back of the tents. Marcus and Merlinus would likely be looking for him, but he didn't want to be found just yet. Feeling sorry for Cecilia, he wanted as few people as possible to know about her current state. But if she was to be restored, there was one person he had to ask...
"Saul? Are you there?" Roy called out, fairly sure he had found the right tent.
"Master Roy? Is that you?" The priest answered.
"Yes, I have something I need your help with. May I come in?" Roy asked.
"Of course, of course!" Saul answered.

Roy stepped inside the tent. He found Saul, standing near a table. His belongings were still packed up, the army having only recently set up camp.
"What can I do for you, master Roy?" The priest asked.
"I need to show you something." Roy said. "And please, try not to be too startled."
Intrigued, Saul raised an eyebrow. One hand on a restore staff he had hastily grabbed from the convoy, he brought the other closer to Saul and unfurled his fingers, revealing the miniature forms of the shrunken mages.
"My word!" Saul's eyes widened in surprise. They widened even more when Cecilia moved, giving him a bow.
"Good day to you. I am Cecilia, mage general of Etruria." She gracefully introduced herself. Her voice was so high-pitched, it took a moment for Saul to understand what she had said.
"...Oh, uh, yes, good day." He replied, still unable to believe his own eyes. Before him, a tiny fairy was introducing herself. He wasn't sure if he should try flirting or just run away. He looked to the larger purple object in Roy's palm.
"I am... Sophia..." Nervously, she shuffled forward, towards the giant priest. "You can... Use the restore staff?"
"Oh, um, yes, yes!" he said, "S-so are you... Human then?" He asked, recalling Cecilia's introduction.
"Yes, we are." Cecilia answered before Sophia could. "Would you mind using the staff on us?"
"No problem at all!" Roy handed him the staff. He crouched down, gently placing the tiny women on the ground before stepping back.

"Well... Here we go!" Saul said, brandishing the staff. Its magic washed over the shrunken Cecilia. It was soothing to the tiny woman, its reassuring magic familiar to the accomplished mage. A moment later, she started to grow. It was just like when she had grown before, though it seemed less likely she would shrink back down once again. She quickly regained her full size, sighing in relief.
"Wonderful. I hope that's the last time I end up that size." she smiled. To her side, Sophia also grew back to normal.
"It worked! Well done, Saul!" Roy cheered.
"Yes, thank you." Cecilia added.
"Thank... you." Sophia chimed in.
"You're very welcome!" Saul smiled. He was glad they were back to normal, but even more glad he had the two ladies in his debt. Though perhaps it wasn't the best idea to flirt in front of the commander...

"So, uh Sophia, right?" Roy began, "You said you were from Arcadia?"
"Yes, my home... lies to the East... in the Nabata desert..." Sophia explained.
"I see. So how did you end up in that prison?" Cecilia asked.
"We were attacked... By Bern. I was too slow... so I was captured..."
Roy and Cecilia listened as Sophia told her story. The war was far from over, and they would soon be fighting across most of the continent. But at least Cecilia was able to fight alongside the Lycian League, full sized once again...
