It's been a few days and Kim was scheduled to be going home today and she couldn't wait. Although she wasn't going to her place she was going home to Adams. Her place needed to be cleaned after her parents left. They didn't really keep it neat in the 48 hours they were there so Adams place would work better.

"How's my favorite patient? Are you ready to get out of here?" Dr Choi enters the room. Smiling knowing she is doing well enough to leave today. All of her scans and blood work all look good so it's time. She is smiling so big it looks like it hurts. " I'm so ready to go home. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed again. It will be glorious." She laughs, she knows it sounds crazy. "Well here is all your discharge paperwork and the information for physical therapy that you will need to set up sooner rather than later. Also some exercises to do at home that will help keep you stretched out" Ethan continues as Adam walk in the room. "Hey guys. You ready to go darling?" Adam was eager to get her home, they both needed to be away from the hospital. "Yes please!" She just about begged. "One more quick thing before you leave no sex for 4 weeks at the minimum. Sorry but her body needs to heal!" Ethan laughs as he leaves because both of their faces while red from embarrassment were also shocked wide not realizing that would be an issue.

"Well let's get you back to my place. Jackson is with Nadia today so we could get you settled in at home. I also have my cleaning lady going to your place to clean up after your parents left. Clean out the fridge, change sheets that kind of stuff. Don't want you to worry about that while you heal." Adam was rambling a bit. Nervous something could go wrong but also so excited that she's well enough to leave.

"Thank you for taking care of that I appreciate it. I really do. All I want to think about right now is going home and curling up with you in bed. I have missed being in your arms. I missed how you calm me. I have missed you." Kim was feeling sappy and tired. She hadn't moved this much in days so she tired quickly. Bed sounds nice though. A nice long nap with Adam sounds even better.

"I missed you too. And snuggles sound amazing. I really didn't realize how used to it i got till I came home to an empty home. It feels lonely without you in it." Now he's the sappy one. Buts it true. He almost can't wait for the off season to spend more time together.

"Well let's get home then" She smiles up at him. The past few days have been rough but he never wavered. It seemed to only make them stronger. This was a hard test one people before had failed, but he passed with flying colors.

When they get home he takes are bag to the laundry room first and then brings her to the bedroom. It's lovely. Flowers waiting for her. Fluffy blankets, extra pillows to prop up on. He even brought drinks and snacks in the room so she wouldn't have to go far. Her iPad charged, the tv remote close by. All set up for comfort. She truly was lucky.

He helped to get dressed into pajamas since bending over still hurts some and helps her to get comfortable in the bed before stripping down himself to join her. Kim lays wrapped in Adams arms for hours neither one sleeping just enjoying the calm. Knowing nothing can hurt them here. It's safe. After awhile he breaks the silence "what are you thinking about?" He knows her mind is spinning. He can practically feel it.

"I was just thinking it was a close call you know. I don't know how much they told you but patrol didn't properly clear the house. One perp was still inside so our guard was down. It was just Dawson and I. Patrol asked for back up and we were close so figured it couldn't hurt to help out. The guy didn't want to go back to jail because he would be killed so he shot me knowing Dawson would shoot back. Suicide by cop. But it just makes you think. I want to change the paperwork so you end up with Jackson. I couldn't do that to either of you. Your his dad now, it's the right this to do. But I also want more you know. I think we should live together. All the time, one place. I'm tired of going back and forth. What do you think?" Now Kim felt vulnerable maybe even a little raw putting it all out there.

He turned her slightly so he could see her face better before crashing his lips to hers. He kissed her with every ounce of passion he could muster. Pouring every emotion into the kiss. Pulling away he held her close still resting his forehead against hers, trying to regain proper breathing. "Darling move in with me? I love you and Jackson so much and I want it all too you already know that. So let's just make official. We can sell your place and you guys come here. Or we can find a new place together. Whatever works for us. And thank you for wanting to change the paperwork. I would have killed me if Jackson ended up with Jay and Erin. Yes they are good people but he's my son. I can't lose him and I can't lose you. So what do you say? Here or buy something together?" He wanted her to have options. He didn't want to control this and her.

"Let's just move in here for now. Maybe later we find something else but for now this works perfectly for us. But one thing needs to change first, the pool needs a fence. Jackson still doesn't swim well so for his safety I want a fence around it." She was more than happy to move in here. It was definitely big enough. And in a gated community so it's pretty perfect.

"Done. I will make the call tomorrow. It makes perfect sense. How about next week we start packing up all the stuff you want and we sell the rest with the apartment? That way it's less work. Is that okay?" He didn't want to make it sound like her stuff was unwanted here but he already had everything or he thought so. Maybe kitchen stuff she would need to bring but furniture was all ready full.

"Sounds perfect. The team can help move stuff. Thank you. I love you!" Kim whispers as she falls asleep. She is awoken awhile later to the feeling of someone snuggling into her. She knew it was Jackson. It was to small and light to be Adam. Adam who had a game tonight asked her team to come over and keep her company. They decided to go all out. Jerseys, hotdogs, popcorn, peanuts, cracker jacks. All of your classic baseball foods while they watched the game tonight. Today started the division championship games which leads to the World Series. It's a dream come true and she hate that she was missing it but thrilled he was going to be playing. She would more upset if he didn't play.

"Darling? Everyone is here. Let's get you up and dressed for downstairs okay?" He was trying to be gentle with her. But the initial sitting up was still a source of discomfort. She was still slow moving too but that's too be expected. She wouldn't get to 100% over night. As she slowly made her way down the stairs her team got up to hug her. They were all thrilled that she was okay and home already. Kim and Adam were surprised to see Will there and he knew it "just a little extra supervision just in case. Her first night home and you have to work? A little peace of mind." They laughed. It was super sweet how they all came together.

Adam was so excited and nervous for tonight. His first ever post season game and Kim home after being shot just a few days ago. But she was surrounded by good people to help her while he was away. He and Kim spoke at great length about how he needed to do this. Or he would regret it. And she didn't want that for him, so here he was ready to play. He could feel the amazing energy in Chicago as the fans cheered for the team as they took to the field. The sound was almost deafening. The cheers, the clapping, the air horns. He never heard it so loud before but he was loving it. This is what motivated him to play harder and stronger.

The Cubs took an early lead in the first inning thanks a two run home run by Adam and to say he was pumped was an understatement. The Nationals came back to tie the game in the 8th. The energy was now tense, the Cubs needed to win. To start the series off right. It's the best out of 7 games. So starting with a win would be the momentum that they needed. The 9th inning bases loaded, two outs and Adam is up to bat he knows he just needs a base hit. Nothing crazy. He has a full count 3 balls 2 strikes when he gets the perfect fast ball to loop right into the gap to score two runs and win the game! He was literally tackled as all the player huddled after the game excited with the win. During the post game show Adam, being the MVP, answered questions about the game and even about Kim since the announcers knew he had left a game in the middle due to a family emergency. He answered proudly that she was going make a full recovery and continue to kiss ass as a Chicago detective. They were surprised since they didn't know much about her. It's the first he mentioned her profession on air. He was damn proud of her though.

After the game he came home to find Kim asleep in bed and Jackson passed out next to her. Halstead and Lindsey were still there just waiting for him arrive before they left. They cleaned everything up, well at least Halstead did. They gave him a brief up date on how Kim had done during the night before leaving. Once the house was locked up, Adam proceeded to carry Jackson to his bed before tucking him in for the night. Giving me a kiss and an I love you before heading back to his room to cuddle up with Kim for the night. Well he tucked her into his arms she smiled "congrats baby" and she was asleep again. He kissed her temple whispering I love you into her hair before falling asleep in his favorite position, together.

The next night followed the same routine. This game however Adam only had two singles but made some good catches during the game that resulted in some pretty important outs. The Cubs did manage to win this game too. Tomorrow would be an off day for travel but per the agreement with the GM Adam would home with Kim the next few days.

The first day off together they went back to her apartment to start packing. Really it was her sitting on the couch telling him what to do. They did go through the kitchen together, somewhat, to figure out what they needed to bring. Kim loved to bake desserts with Jackson so a lot of the baking tools and supplies would need to come with them. She also had a lot of kitchen gadgets that he didn't have that made life easier so those needed to come too. But they were able to get rid of some stuff. It was going to be a long process since Kim couldn't help much but they wanted to start so they could have her place ready to sell sooner rather than later. They also packed a few more suit cases of clothes to bring over to Adams. Over all they spent about 5 hours working on her place it didn't look like it since they decided to sell her place fully furnished except for a few pieces that would be removed before listing. Kim was now exhausted so they headed home. They loved how that sounded, home. After she napped for a bit they decided to go take Jackson to the park. It was October and the warm days were coming to an end soon so they needed to make the most of it. Kim sat on a bench while Adam and Jackson played on the swing, slides, monkey bars and even in the sand box. She took lots of pictures of the two together and even got in a few herself. She was careful though not to push too hard.

When they got home with groceries ready to make dinner they noticed someone at the front door. They went into the garage per normal and closed it immediately. They went inside from the garage before heading to the front door to look through the peep hole. "Kim why don't you sit down for a bit and I will handle this." Adam was a little forceful in his words but she also knew she needed to rest. She nodded and headed for the couch. Which luckily had a view of the door. "What do you want? Why are you here? How did you get past the guards?" He didn't want to see her, she needed to leave and quickly. They didn't end on good terms and he was happy. She needed to go. "Adam I thought maybe we could talk. Maybe have a drink together? Like old times?" She spoke. "Wendy you need to leave. You left many years ago, gave me the ring back, said I had changed. Well guess what I have changed and for the better. I'm so happy with the love of my life and my son. I don't want or need you here. And if you come here again I will have my girlfriend arrest you for trespassing. Good night!" He was over it and her. "Adam wait please I'm sorry. Give me another chance!" She was desperate at this point. Just then he heard little feet running his way. "Daddy I need help with the blocks can you help me please?" Jackson was obviously to the tension between his father and this women. Adam picks him up and sits him on his hip "Of course little man. I will be right there I just need to get rid of our guest." Jackson jumps down and runs off. Kim has now walked over, she tried to stay out of it but this was too much. "Listen Wendy was it? Right okay so Adam asked you to leave. He told you that he moved on and has a son. I think the only reason you are here is because his team is doing well and you want to cash in. Am i getting warm? You know I read people for a living? I think it's time to go now. Bye bye!" With that Kim slammed the door and called security. She was over it. "Go play with Jackson. I will get the groceries away. I love you!" Before he left he pulled her closer and whispered "too bad no sexual contact for three more weeks, that momma bear show is really working for me!" He slapped her butt and walked away. Now she needed a cold shower.

Kim eventually makes it upstairs and play blocks with the boys before they head down stairs to make dinner. They decided tonight they would tell Jackson about moving into Adams place. They were sure he would be excited but still were a little apprehensive about it. Adam did notice his phone rang a few times and he ended up blocking the number. Kim saw out of the corner of her eyes giving him a questioning look. He flipped his phone so she could see and then without a word blocked her. It was done. Kim winked and moved further to the bar stools to help with dinner the best she could. During dinner "Hey Jackson how would you feel if we moved into Adams place and we all lived together?" Kim asked him while he ate. He looked curious and contemplated his answer "So all three of us would live here everyday? And our other house would be gone?" He seemed like he wasn't quiet sure. "Yes baby all three of us would be here every day except when Adam has to travel for work. And we would sell our old place but you would be able to keep all your stuff from there." She hoped that made sense. His face lit up "Yes!" He jumped from the table and ran over to hug his parents this was the best thing ever.

As the next few days past they managed to pack more of the things Kim and Jackson wanted to keep and got it moved over to Adams place. The boxes weren't very big so it was easy enough. They also found someone to list the apartment for sale. Now with that mostly taken care of they could turn their focus back to healing, baseball and the up coming holidays. Then Jackson 4th birthday in January. It would a busy next few months but they couldn't wait.

The division series came back to Chicago after the cubs lost a game to the Nationals. Adam wanted this done. He was pumped for tonight's game. He couldn't wait to take the field again. Kim was staying with Platt tonight as the IU had a case that needed to be solved. Apparently it was bloody and just down right gruesome. Adam was thankful that Kim wasn't working this case. Back at the stadium the team was doing their stretches and signing some autographs for lucky fans who were sitting close enough. He loved to interact with the fans at the ballpark. He was there because of them so it was only fair. It was a quick game, both pitchers had good stuff tonight. Not allowing very many hits at all. Even with the few hits no runs had scored. At this point all they would need is one run if the pitcher kept this up. It took till the 8th inning before the Cubs finally score and it was Adam who crossed the plate to score the run. It was good base running and a really good slide but luckily the throw to home was off line. It was a great play one that will end up on ESPN for sure. Turns out that would be the only run of the game and the Cubs win the series. They all head to the locker room to celebrate. The next series would be the Giants before the World Series.

They had two days off because they won their series so Kim and Adam decided to do some Halloween decorating around the outside. The got a bunch of stuff from Target and Kim helped Adam put the decor outside. They also took Jackson to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins to carve. They never got to do this before because you can't do much in an apartment so they went all out this year. Jackson decided he wanted to be a baseball player for Halloween, Adam was beyond giddy about it. They took him shopping to get the outfit just right and to find a glove small enough he was going to look adorable. They Halloween treats to give out to trick or treaters and hid them so the boys wouldn't eat them. It was turning out to be a perfect holiday. Before they could there though they had to get through another round of division playoffs against the Giants.

The first two games were in San Francisco and Adam watched from home as his team lost one and won one before coming home. They had to win the next two. He was nervous knowing that the deciding game would be played in San Francisco and he wanted to be there for it. He knew Kim would understand but he still felt like a jerk choosing his career over her. "Hey Kim. Can I talk to you for a minute? It's important." She was scared. Was he leaving her? Important? Did something bad happen? "Adam what's up? Is everything okay?" Her voice was shaking. She was so scared. "Darling it's not a bad thing. I just um want to go to San Francisco when the team heads back. It's the best chance at the World Series and I know I said I wouldn't travel right now but I think I need to do this. Do you hate me?" Now he was the nervous one. "Baby I don't hate you. I understand. I kind of knew this was coming. You want to be there when they win. You want to help make that happen. I completely get it. Yes it will suck but I need to start doing more on my own anyway. I'm relying on you too much. It's okay, go I promise I will be here when you get back." His smile could light up a room it's so damn bright. He picks her up and spins her around. He loves her so much..

The next two games the Cubs crush the Giants. And Adam plays a role in all of it. Getting important out, getting hits, stealing bases and overall just pumping up the team. If he's going to be away from Kim then they had to win. It has to be worth it. Everyone knows the pressure is on for all of them, some have contract ending this year and world series win would ensure more money in new contracts so everyone had something to gain from this. The next day was a travel day Adams first since Kim was injured. It was stressful but he needed to do this and she supported him. They drove to the airport together, getting a few last minutes together before he left for three days. While only three days it seemed like forever and ended up making out in the airport. Being met with whoops and cheers. It was definitely embarrassing but so worth it.

Adam joined his team and went over the scouting reports with the coaches. Wanting to make sure he knew exactly what he was up against. He wanted to know all the stats of the pitcher he would be facing. To know if he had any weaknesses. That way how they would win this game. Being prepared mentally and physically.

Kim went home to find her whole team and friends from firehouse 51 waiting for her with food and snacks to watch the game. She was elated to see how quickly her team, her family excepted Adam into the group. Once inside the ladies got to making the food while the boys took the kids outside to play. It was definitely a team effort with this many people in the house tonight. But she wouldn't have any other way.

While Adam was stretching on the field he could hear people calling his name, asking for autographs. He paused and asked to finish his warms up first. They obliged and let him finish. Really it's the least they could do since he was going to sign stuff for them. About 20 minutes later he strolls over to sign balls and jerseys, whatever people brought. Some baseball cards, programs or team yearbooks. Nothing surprised him anymore till one younger fan asked him "How's your girlfriend? They said she got hurt while you were at a game?" Adam who normally would never answer a question regarding Kim was so caught off guard but happily answered the young kid "She's doing great. She will be back at a desk in a few days and back to full active duty in a month. Thank you for asking about her." Adam liked kids so it was easy for him to make this one happy. He was about to turn away when the same kid asked "How did she get hurt?" His mother was horrified "Honey that's none of our business. I'm so sorry Mr Ruzek" Adam laughed. "It's okay ma'am. My girlfriend is a detective in an elite unit in Chicago and was shot in the line of duty." He was so damn proud of his badass. He didn't mention her name or her unit but he beamed with pride all the same. The fans drifted away and he went back to work.

He heard his phone ping alerting him to a new message, it was a photo from Kim. It was all her friends in their home ready to watch the game. He beamed with pride knowing she was proud of him. He sent back a photo of him about to take the field knowing it would make her heart beat faster with the wink and smirk he was sending her. It always made her belly flutter like butterflies when he looked just like that and he knew it. Over 6 months in and they still flirted like they just met.

It was game 5 of the division series between the Cubs and the Giants. A win for the Cubs would guarantee them a spot in the World Series a loss would mean at least one more game against each other. He wanted to win so bad. His team was up first since they were the away team. First hitter strikes out, Adam is frustrated but it happens. The second batter is unintentional walked, Adam thinks the pitcher doesn't have his best stuff tonight. Adam comes up and the first pitch is a ball, very wide. The second pitch very inside, almost hits him. The third pitch Adam launched into the stands for a home run, two runs score. It's a great way to start the game. By the end of the inning it was 3 to 0 Cubs winning. As the game continued the Cubs continued to dominate the game. Making key outs and not letting runs score. Going into the 9th inning the Cubs were up 6 to 0. Adam was first up to bat this inning and he was hit by a pitch. He saw it coming and tried to move best he could but it hit him square in the back. He dropped to the ground, wincing in pain. Kim watched it on TV and tears in her eyes. She wished she was there to help him. The trainer and coaches came out to asses whether or not he could continue in the game. He tried to walk it off but his breathing was labored. They helped him off the field. It was an accident but it was still a big problem for the Cubs. Adam was taken to the local hospital for tests just to be safe.

"Adam are you okay? Do you need me to come out there?" Kim was frantic when he called. How could she not be, she watched him take a fast ball to his back. "Darling I'm okay the trainer doesn't think anything is broken but heading to the hospital just to double check. I promise I will send you a photo of the X-ray and Will can confirm the doctors out here. Okay?" He knew she would be freaking out hence why he called. It did calm them both down but the pain was pretty unbearable. "Okay just call me when you know something. I know with Hippa you can't be on the phone with me so call me after. I love you!" She sounded more calm now. "Okay darling. Love you too".

Adam got the first class treatment and luckily nothing was broken just a huge bruise and muscle spasms. He could deal with that but for now he needed to meet up with the team to celebrate the big win. They were headed to the World Series! He couldn't believe it. It was a dream come true. Home to Kim tomorrow to continue the celebrations. It was going to be a good couple of days.
