Adam was at the ballpark stretching before the start of game 3 of the World Series. He was happy that the Roman issue had been put to bed. They could move forward, he could marry Kim and legally adopt Jackson. It was just a matter of finding the right time. And finding time to ask her family for permission and by her family he means her Intelligence family. They mean more to her than her real family. The game was starting, he was taking the field any minute now. The last minute pep talk was happening with the coaches and players. They needed high energy, they needed positive energy, they needed this win to take the Series win in Chicago. Winning on home turf was the plan.

They take the field, the crowd screaming is deafening. He loves it. The sound gets him more pumped for the game. He felt the ground shaking from the cheers. He couldn't wait to get started. He knew Kim watching and he was thankful for that. She had gifted him with a new pair of shades since he is also wearing them and she thought a new pair with polarized lenses would be appropriate and hopefully help him see the ball better. He loved them normally he was an Oakley man but these Maui Jim's were lighting and he could see better. Hoping this could give him an edge while playing the out field tonight.

The game was going so quick tonight. It was a pitching duel. No one was getting runs, only hits. Going into the 8th it was still tied at zero to zero when the Yankees get a lucky hit with a home run. The Cubs unable to answer back with a run. Going into the top of the ninth it was the Cubs last chance to score a run or two. The first batter struck out swinging, the second batter was hit by a pitch so he took first base. The third hitter of the inning was able to get a walk so be moved to first. Now with runners on second and first the fourth batter comes up to hit and bunts allowing both runners to move up a base. Adam was now up at the plate, the sold out crowd was on its feet cheering, hoping for a miracle. Adam knew he just needed a single far enough into the out field to score both runners. With the first pitch he was able to get that hit into center field, the first runner scored with no issue, the second was coming towards home with the relay throw coming in hot. It was a photo finish, but the catcher missed the tag and the runner crossed the home plate bringing the Cubs the win over the Yankees. The whole team rushed the field jumping and hugging pouring the water cooler all over Adam but he didn't care he was elated that they won tonight. One more win to go. Now all he wanted was to get home to Kim and Jackson.

By the time he got home everyone had left and Kim was half asleep in their bed. She wanted to wait up for him to congratulate him on his game. She heard their door open and slowly rolled over to greet him. He felt bad when he saw her sleeping. "Darling go back to sleep. We have all morning together. I just need to change and I will be right there." He really just needed to strip down and brush his teeth, he showered in the locker room. "Baby I really need to do my hip stretches before I fall asleep. Need to keep the muscles loose, they still get stiff from the shooting. I won't be to long either." She started doing her stretches. Her hip still got sore and stiff which was something the physical therapist told her would happen and to make sure the exercises were done regularly.

When Adam returned to the bedroom he stopped dead in his tracks. The sight of Kim lifting her hips off the bed in a stretch was so incredibly sexy. He stood and watched her for awhile before climbing into bed and pulling her int9 his arms. "Darling you have no idea how sexy that was to watch. Got me all hot and bothered. Maybe you could show me some of those moves if you know what I mean." He winked at her before pulling her into a kiss. They tried several new stretches for a another hour before falling asleep in each other's arms.

The next morning after breakfast and getting ready the small family got in the car heading to look at some rescue dogs. Jackson wanted one and it would be nice for when Adam traveled. They were meeting the Halstead in an hour who were also looking to get a dog. Once they got to the shelter Jackson all of a sudden got scared of the dogs they knew he would relax once he played with them so Adam offered to carry him. "Hey guys you ready to check out the dogs." Jay said as he carried Grace who also seemed nervous. "Yeah Jackson got scared so this was the only way to get him out of the car. But yes let's get started." Kim was actually excited to g9 inside to check them out. "Let's go." Erin offered holding the door open.

Jay was greeted by his friends wife who runs the shelter. "Hey everyone. Jay it's good to see you again. Are you guys ready to see the dogs we have available?" Julie offered. "Hey Julie so great to see you again. We are excited to see the dogs. Maybe one that is an emotional support dog as well? You know to help with the PTSD?" Jay answers. He still suffered from nightmares from being in Afghanistan and this would help. "Of course. They have their vests on so you will find them. Let me walk you all out there." Julie was happy that two dogs would go to wonderful families today. "Thank you so much. Gracie what do you think?" Jay wanted her to be excited but she was reserved. On the other hand as soon as they stepped outside Jackson wanted down to run around and see who played with him. It was adorable.

After about an hour Jackson came running over to his parents "Mommy, Daddy can we get this one?" He was out of breath from running around with the dogs but this one hadn't left his side the whole time and just happened to be an emotional support dog. It would come in handy with her job. "Are you sure this is the one you want? We don't have to adopt one today. We can wait." Kim offered. This was a big decision for all of them. "Yes please! I really love him already." Jackson was jumping up and down he would definitely crash hard later. "What do you think Adam? Is this the one?"she really wanted his opinion on all this. It was his home originally and she wanted to make sure he was really okay with it. "Darling I think this is the one. Look how happy he is. And Champ hasn't left his side since we got here. Let's do this! We can stop and get supplies on the way home." Adam nearly fell over when Jackson jumped into his arms so excited for his new best friend.

The Halstead's also ended up with a dog before heading the pet supply store to get all of the essentials and some toys to keep them busy and active. When they got home they let Champ explore the back yard while Jackson ran around beside him. "They look so happy together. This was definitely one of the best things we have done. Maybe he will want to go for runs with me in the off season. Would be nice to have company while running." Adam watched them amazed by how comfortable they all ready were together. "I don't think I have ever seen Jackson so happy before. This is amazing. I'm so happy we did this." Kim smiled so wide it was actually hurting her cheeks. But she couldn't have been happier. "So my dad called today. Seems like being in a World Series means you reach out to your kid who you haven't talked to in months. I don't know what to do about it. I mean he his my dad but every time I let him in it goes horribly. He's rude to you and he always wants something from me. You know? The holidays are coming up and we need a plan of how to split this up. If I don't see him it will be worse I know that." Adam was rambling. But Kim could tell it was weighing heavy on him. "Let's get Jackson down for a nap and they we can talk it out, okay?" Kim watched him nod. "Jackson, Champ nap time. Let's go inside." The boys followed Kim up to bed for nap time. Champ slept on the floor next to the bed the whole time.

"Okay So here is my thoughts for Thanksgiving breakfast with your family somewhat early like 7 or so. Then lunch at Hanks with the Intelligence Unit which is tradition and then dessert with my parents who want to come spend time with Jackson. Then for Christmas, we spend Christmas Eve with your family, Christmas Day here just the three of us and then Boxing Day, I know we are not English but it's tradition to spend it at Hanks again. My family won't come out for both holidays so we don't need to worry about that. Does that help maybe?" Kim hoped this would bring him back some calmness. He seemed anxious about the holidays and it didn't need to be that way. "Darling god I love you! That's perfect. We see everyone without all the work. I mean I know we will have a lot to do still but this sounds like a great plan. Thank you for this." Adam couldn't be happier about this. She made it sound so simple.

"On another note something that is brighter Mouse is going to rent my apartment till he can get the down payment together. We have a contract being drawn up now so it's legal and less risky. It's perfect for him since he sold almost everything before heading over seas and the second bedroom is perfect for all his computers. It's a great fit for him." Kim was thrilled to be able to help her friend but knew it needed to be on paper just in case. "Well it's not exactly what I was expecting but I'm happy he's signing a contract and that it will be sold soon. It is nice that it's helping him out so much. Does make me nervous though." Adam needed to admit his fear about this. It could end poorly but at least with a contract their is legal recourse. "I completely understand. Not exactly what I wanted either. But at least the payments will be made and he wants to buy it. We are putting the contract at a year lease but hopefully it goes quicker than that but at least it's something. Right?" Now Kim's worry was coming to the surface. "Kim it will be fine. Mouse is a good guy and has never given you any reason to doubt him. You truly have a generous soul. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." Adam beamed while talking to her. He couldn't believe how lucky he got being with her. "Same baby, same." Kim added before kissing Adam and heading to get some drinks.

Hours later Adam left for the ballpark while Kim got ready and packed some items for Jackson for when he gets tired later. Tonight the whole team is going to the game to watch the game from the suite. It's game 4 and everyone is super excited for tonight. The whole unit was meeting at the ball park at 6:15 to enjoy dinner before the game started. They also wanted to get some new shirts and new hats to sport during the game. Maybe some group photos by the field before settling into the suite. Once they all arrived they all looked like kids in a candy store. The joy and excitement on their faces was infectious. Kevin had met them all at the front gate to some them to the suite but also to bring them right to the shops to get their new items quicker. They wanted to be back in the suite by 7:05 for the first pitch. Hopefully today was the last game and the city wide celebration could begin.

20 minutes before first pitch the team had made it back to the suite. Ready for some food and some drinks. They were off tomorrow so if they went a little hard tonight it was alright. The night was starting well, the food was the usual ball park foods in abundance and the usual beers, sodas and water. They didn't need to leave for anything, Adam made sure of it. Even making sure the kids had something other than water to drink. He knew it would be a long night for them so making them happy ahead of time was key to him. To be honest he also didn't want a cranky son after the game especially if they win.

The Cubs take the field. The crowd including the IU team are going crazy. The screams could be heard for blocks. Police were already in force patrolling the streets to prevents riots in the off chance that riots ensure after the win. It happens often in cities where champions are won. The game is starting out it was a slow going game in the start going into the 3rd inning when the Yankees took the lead 2 to zero. The crowd was on edge hoping and praying to get the runs back. It was intense, this was not a normal game. This was the game! This was biggest game of the year. Of his lifetime so far. A moment he will never forget. Adam was at bat again. He got a single the first time up but the next batter hit into a double play. He wanted to do better this at bat. The first pitch was so close it took him off balance but it didn't hit him so it was okay. It happens. The second pitch was super low. The third pitch was in the perfect range, he hit it hard and long into the gap between center and right rolled all the way back to the wall, he managed to slide safe into third base.

The next batter comes to the plate. The pitches are all over the place resulting in a wild pitch it goes all the way to the back stop causing Adam to have to slide into home. The tag is applied but it looks like he was safe before hand. He is called safe but it called for review. Now they wait while the umpires review the footage from every angle. Of course Adam knows he was safe but they can't take his word for it especially when the catcher is denying it. After around 5 minutes the call at the plate is up held. The Cubs scored a run. Now only down by one run. By the 7th inning the game was tied again. Adam was up to bat again in what would most likely be his last at bat of the game. The first pitch was a strike, the second a ball, the third was coming in fast and he could move in time. It hit him right on the left hand, he dropped to the ground. Trying not to scream or cry in pain but he rolled on to his back and gripped his hand close as the trainers and coaches came out to check out his injury. He tried to shake it off but the pain was to much. Against his better judgement he left the game and headed to the emergency room. Kevin got Kim from the suite to accompany him. The Halstead's agreed to take Jackson for the night since it would be late when they got home and called ahead to the ER to let Will know Adam was in route.

While at the ER the Cubs were pissed off at the loss of one of their best players. They game back swinging harder than before and pitching faster than before. Kevin stayed at the stadium keeping Adam in the loop as the game continued on. In the end Adam had a broken hand and the Cubs won the game, winning the World Series. They drove straight back to the to enjoy the celebrations. The team waited for Adam to get back before they popped the Champagne and sprayed the team being mindful to keep the cast dry. Streamers, confetti, balloons, sprays of liquor everywhere. No one could stop smiling. And laughing. They finally did it. The news crews were there doing interviews with the team and Kim stayed away from the camera view. It wasn't about her and really she shouldn't be there. No other wife or girlfriend was there. It's only because she drove him back from the hospital. Every station had a different player to interview so it wouldn't be the same repeat of info on every channel.

Adam was about to be interviewed but wanted to talk to Kim quickly before heading on knowing they would probably ask about her. "Hey Darling. I have to do an interview in a minute and they are probably going to ask questions about you especially since you are down here. What do you want me to say? He didn't want her uncomfortable and he didn't want to give away to much info on their relationship. They still tried to stay under the radar with their relationship because the media can twist everything you say or do. "Baby just be honest but vague. They don't need details but you don't have to lie. We are together, we live together, we are raising a son together. I'm not ashamed of our relationship, I just want them out of it. I love you, go do the interview so we can go come and celebrate together!" She winked and he pulled he into a hug. "I love you too Darling!"

"Congratulations Adam! How are you feeling after the game?" The reporter asked. "Thank you. I'm feeling good, sore but excited and happy to be here celebrating winning the World Series with my friends and family" Adam was in pain but he didn't want to admit that on television. Only Kim needed to know that and even then he wasn't going to be completely honest about. "How is your hand after being hit during the game?" He was asked. "Well it's broken so that's not fun but otherwise it's doing well." He under played the pain and frustration. "Well I'm sorry to hear it's broken. Do you have any plans for the off season?" Adam relaxed as the interview continued, Kim wasn't mentioned yet. "This off season I plan of traveling some, exploring the East coast more. I really enjoyed Philadelphia when I was there earlier in the year and would like to go back to check it out more." It was the truth. Just not the entire truth as to why he has enjoyed Philadelphia. "Would you be bringing your girlfriend with you on these trips?" There it is. The questions are starting. "Um I would love that. She does have a full time job so I don't know how often we will be able to get away but yeah I would love that." He really would love for her to travel all off season with him but it wasn't realistic. "We rarely hear you talk about her. What does she do for a living? And do I see her here with your manager?" This is what he was worried about. "Well we prefer to keep our lives private. While that doesn't always work we do try to keep it as private as possible. She has already had to take a step back in her job as a detective because the media outed her and it's no longer safe for her to do under cover work because of it. And yes she is here with Kevin. She went to the hospital with me. She drove me back here to celebrate with the team before heading home." Adam tried to be polite when talking about Kim even though he was annoyed. He hated putting her in the public, it wasn't fair to her. "Wow a detective? Are you okay with that? It sounds dangerous?" The reporter just pissed him off. "I'm completely okay with it. I grew up with a cop for a dad and yes it's dangerous. But I'm so proud of her for all the good she's doing in Chicago. She's an amazing person and I'm so lucky to have her in my life. Now I'm done discussing her. I don't need anyone's opinion on my relationship with her or be questioned about her career choice. Have a great night." With that he walked away.

The reporters were stunned but he didn't care. All he cared about was going home with Kim to celebrate. And then start enjoying the off season as a family. "All right guys I'm out of here. See you all for the press tour, the parade and the White House invite." He grabbed Kim's hand and they left. Kevin followed behind talking about fixing the PR nightmare that Adam just created. But he still didn't care. He didn't need them judging Kim. That was a step to far. The boys did their special hand shake before leaving for home. They barely made it home before before clawing at each other's clothes and running to the bedroom. It was a night they will never forget.

The next morning Kim and Adam woke up wrapped in each other's arms. "Good morning baby" "Good morning Darling" they said at the same time. The giggled and Adam pulled Kim on top of him, still naked and rested his hands on her flat stomach. "Adam you know I'm not pregnant right?" She was slightly confused but loved the contact. "I wouldn't be upset if you were. I would actually love it if you were." Adam confessed. They never talked about having more kids. "You want to have a baby?" Kim was kind of shocked. They had on,y been together about 7 months. "Yes I can't wait to have a baby with you. I mean I love Jackson like my own but I do want kids with you that are part me and part you. Nothing would make me happier." He knew he was being more vulnerable than he ever had been before. "Well I don't know. Don't get me wrong I want all of that too but I'm not sure I'm ready yet. I would like to wait a bit longer if that's okay. Maybe talk about it again after Jackson's birthday?" She knew what she wanted but was concerned he might not be okay with waiting. Too much had happened lately. She needed some down time to finish healing. "Darling that's fine. I didn't mean right now. If it happened I would be thrilled but there is no rush. His birthday is like 4 months away so I'm totally fine with waiting till then. But we can practice right?" Adam was excited to start trying but okay with waiting too. "Of course! Baby I love you but I think we should get up and get ready to get Jackson from Jay and Erins. And we need to walk the dog." Kim was getting up to start the process. "Okay you start the shower and I will let the dog into the yard to run around for bit. Then I will shower." Adam offered and Kim turned into the bathroom.
