Hey y'all! Welcome to the Alternative Culprit Files! I was sitting and wondering...what if, say, Mitch wasn't the culprit of Secrets Can Kill, or Victor wasn't the culprit of Deadly Device, and so on and so forth. So, I wanted to create some new endings for each suspect in every game that turned out to not be the culprit. I'll supply them with a motive, unique dialogue, and different interactions with Nancy. The scenes will be directly ported from the games - I'll just be changing the culprit and dialogue. Hope y'all enjoy!

- DarleneDaQueen

First up, we have Secrets Can Kill. I'm going to use the ending of the remastered version, as the original's ending is too centered around Mitch for me to change it!

Connie's Ending

"That Beech guy? Seems on the up-and-up...waste of my time." the tape cuts out as Nancy stares at it in confusion. She had thought for sure that Detective Beech was the only remaining suspect she had left...that Mitch guy had turned out to have an ironclad alibi for the day of the crime. He had to have been working with someone then. But who?

"Whatcha watching Nancy?" Nancy turned to see Connie standing in the doorway of the living room, her face curled up in an unnatural sneer.

"C-Connie? Why are you here?" Nancy asks, perplexed.

"I got a call from a friend of mine. Mitch Dillon? I'm sure you two know each other already..." Connie replies, and Nancy gasps.

"Mitch?! But that means..." Nancy trails off as she realizes. "You're the one who killed Jake! But why?"

"You haven't figured it out yet? And here I thought you were some big threat...look, the stupid judo thing was only a cover, alright? I'm really in with Mitch - drug dealing. I put him onto to Daryl and everything. But then Jake somehow found out..." Connie explains, smiling menacingly.

"And he wrote it in his journa-" Nancy begins to say, but she cuts herself off. Unfortunately, Connie hears her.

"Journal? He had a journal? That little blackmailing coward had two tapes and a journal? Where is it, Nancy?" Connie gets angrier with each sentence. She pulls out a gun and aims it at Nancy. "This is for those fake soda alarms. Did you really think I couldn't tell it was you? Now you're gonna tell me where the journal is, then you're gonna shut up about this forever, alright?"

"I-It's in the safe, behind the wall tapestry!" Nancy responds, knowing of Aunt Eloise's security system. Connie walks over to the safe.

"What's the code?"

(Bad Ending)

"Sigma Phi Kappa!" Nancy says, and she hears the safe swinging open. Connie walks back over, furious. "There's nothing in there! You lied to me. I'm a hall monitor, remember, Nancy? I don't take kindly to liars..."

"Wait...Connie...don't-" Nancy attempts to say, before a

BANG!

(You have died).

(Good Ending)

"Sigma Delta Beta!" Nancy says, and she hears the safe reject the answer.

"Quit fooling around and tell me the right answer!" Connie snarls.

"Delta Beta Phi!" The safe rejects it again, and Connie gets angrier. "You better say it right this time, or you'll never say anything again."

"Phi Phi Delta!" There's another rejecting buzz, and the sound of a cage dropping and a blaring alarm come on.

"AHHHH!" Connie yells, and Nancy walks into the foyer to see her trapped in the cage.

"Sorry, Connie...school's out." Nancy says, and Connie glares at her, arms crossed in resignation.

Dear Hannah,

Who would've thought that Connie could ever commit such an awful crime? Apparantly, the judo competions had supplied her with the money she and Mitch used to carry out their drug trade. She had told Mitch to use Daryl as a delivery boy, since she knew Daryl well enough to know he'd cooperate. Jake somehow found out about it, and included photos in his journal of Mitch and Connie together, taking inventory. Unfortunately for him, not only was Connie skilled in self-defense, she was also skilled in vicious attacks...

(insert normal endings for Hal, Hulk, and Daryl)

As for Detective Beech, it turns out he was working the drug angle the whole time! He had been hunting for Jake's journal as well, assuming it carried valuable information. He thanked me for all my endeavors, and told me if I ever wanted to go professional, he'd endorse me gladly.

(insert usual ending for endgame letter)

Love, Nancy.

Hal's Ending

"That Beech guy? Seems on the up-and-up...waste of my time." the tape cuts out as Nancy stares at it in confusion. She had thought for sure that Detective Beech was the only remaining suspect she had left...that Mitch guy had turned out to have an ironclad alibi for the day of the crime. He had to have been working with someone then. But who?

"N-Nancy? Where'd you get that tape?" Nancy turns to see a nervous looking Hal standing in the doorway of the living room.

"Hal? What're you doing here?" Nancy asks. Hal looks uncomfortable and scared.

"M-Mitch...I mean someone told me you'd been getting too close to the truth..." Hal blurts out.

"Mitch? If you know him...then...you were the one who killed Jake?!" Nancy cries out as she realizes the truth. "Why?"

Hal nods nervously. "I need the money...for college. I didn't get any scholarships, you know...and all my hard work...and my family...it was only supposed to go until college...but then Jake found out...about the essay and this drug stuff!"

"And he wrote it in his journa-" Nancy stops herself, but Hal picks up on her words immediately.

"J-Journal? Oh god...if this gets out my whole life is over...Nancy, where is the journal? I don't want to be violent, but I will if I need to..." Hal says frantically, whipping out a gun that he shakily points at Nancy.

"It's in the safe, behind the wall tapestry!" Nancy replies, knowing about Aunt Eloise's security system. Hal nods and walks over out of sight to the safe.

"What's the code?"

(Bad Ending)

"Sigma Phi Kappa!" Nancy says, and she hears the safe swinging open. Hal walks over after a minute, trembling with rage.

"Y-You lied to me. There's nothing in there. This is my whole future, and you're trying to sabotage it. Well let's see how you like when someone snuffs out your horizon!" Hal says angrily.

"Hal, please...don't!-" Nancy begins to shout, before a

BANG!

(You have died)

(Good Ending)

"Sigma Kappa Phi!" Nancy says. She hears the safe reject the code.

"Please, Nancy, don't make this harder than it already is. Give me the correct code." Hal begs.

"Delta Delta Delta!" Nancy responds, and the safe rejects the code yet again.

"N-Nancy, this is your last chance...I can't have you harming my future like this anymore..." Hal says warningly.

"Phi Delta Phi!" The safe rejects the code one last time, and Nancy hears the sound of a cage falling, Hal shouting in fright, and a loud alarm going off. She walks out to the foyer to see Hal looking absolutely miserable and frightened in the cage.

"Please, Nancy...let me out!" he begs.

"Sorry Hal...looks like the future's dropped the ball on you." Nancy replies, and Hal gives a sob of resignation.

Dear Hannah,

It's scary what the pursuit of a good education and familial honor can do to a person. For Hal, it made him take part in drug dealing, and made him take the life of another. Apparantly, in addition to plagiarism, Hal had been taking other steps to insure his admission to a good college, which involved selling drugs to make enough money to go somewhere prestigious and make his family proud. He had met Mitch by chance, and the pair had struck up the scheme together. It was only when Jake found out that Hal was pushed to the limits of his cruel side. It seems Hal's family has refused to fly over to attend his trial, and I can't help but feeling a little bad for him, even if he did bring it all upon himself.

Hulk's Ending

"That Beech guy? Seems on the up-and-up...waste of my time." the tape cuts out as Nancy stares at it in confusion. She had thought for sure that Detective Beech was the only remaining suspect she had left...that Mitch guy had turned out to have an ironclad alibi for the day of the crime. He had to have been working with someone then. But who?

"What're you watching, Nancy?" Nancy turned to see Hulk leaning against the living room doorframe. He was smiling as usual, but it carried a sinister glint this time...

"Hulk? What are you doing here?" Nancy asks. Hulk laughs.

"Got a call about you escaping being blown up in the boiler room from a pal of mine...Mitch Dillon?" Hulk replies.

"Mitch? That means...you killed Jake! But why?" Nancy asks, baffled.

"Listen, Nancy, those steroids weren't just for me. I'm in the drug trade...I figure I can make big money as a pro footballer, but until then, I've got to fund myself. Unlucky for me, that loser Jake found out."

"And he must have wrote about it in his journ-" Nancy cuts herself off before finishing but unfortunately Hulk picks up on her exclamation.

"Journal? That blackmailing freak had a journal too? You need to tell me where it is. Now." Hulk fishes in his pocket before whipping out a pistol and pointing it directly at Nancy.

"It's in the safe, behind the wall tapestry!" Nancy replies, knowing about Aunt Eloise's security system. Hulk walks over to the safe.

"What's the code?"

(Bad Ending)

"Sigma Phi Kappa!" Nancy says, and she hears the safe swinging open. Hulk walks back, glaring.

"You think you can put one over me? That safe is as empty as your brain's about to be...once I clear it out."

"Hulk, please, don't..!" Nancy attempts to cry, before a

BANG!

(You have died)

(Good Ending)

"Sigma Kappa Phi!" Nancy says. She hears the safe reject the code.

"Ha ha. Now give me the right code." Hulk says.

"Delta Delta Delta!" Nancy responds, and the safe rejects the code yet again.

"You're getting on my nerves, you know that? One last chance. Code. Now." Hulk demands.

"Phi Delta Phi!" The safe rejects the code one last time, and Nancy hears the sound of a cage falling, Hulk shouting in suprise, and a loud alarm going off. She walks out to the foyer to see Hulk shaking the bars of the cage angrily.

"Let me out! NOW!" Hulk practically roars.

"Sorry Hulk, looks you fumbled it." Nancy replies, and Hulk just glares at her.

Dear Hannah, turns out steroids can warp your mind in very dangerous ways. For Hulk, his drug usage and his chance encounter with Mitch Dillon lead him to starting a lucrative drug-selling business. That is, until Jake found out, and Hulk decided to shut him up forever. Apparantly, Hulk was planning on dropping the whole scheme once he made it big as an athelete, although I don't take much stock in that claim.

Daryl's Ending

"That Beech guy? Seems on the up-and-up...waste of my time." the tape cuts out as Nancy stares at it in confusion. She had thought for sure that Detective Beech was the only remaining suspect she had left...that Mitch guy had turned out to have an ironclad alibi for the day of the crime. He had to have been working with someone then. But who?

"Watching a movie without me, Nancy?" Nancy turns to see Daryl standing in the doorway to the living room.

"Daryl? What are you doing here?" Nancy asks.

"Mitch called me. Told me you survived the bomb. I had to come over here and congratulate you." Daryl says, smiling.

"Mitch? That means...you killed Jake! But why?" Nancy asks, confused.

"My dad's not rich anymore, alright? I've gotta make some cash some other way. Everyone around here knows me as the cool, suave, rich dude...I couldn't let that slip away! So I told Mitch I wanted into his drug deals. But then Jake found out..." Daryl replies.

"And he wrote about it in his journ-" Nancy begins to say, before cutting herself off. Tragically, Daryl hears her mistaken words.

"Journal? I knew Jake was obsessive, but on top of the tape, a journal? Well, tell me where it is. Now." Daryl says, taking a gun out of his back pocket.

"It's in the safe, behind the wall tapestry!" Nancy replies. Daryl walks over to the safe.

"What's the code, Nancy?"

(Bad Ending)

"Sigma Phi Kappa!" Nancy says, and she hears the safe swinging open. Daryl walks back, shaking his head.

"There's nothing in there. You know, we could have been great together. I might have even let you in on the scheme. But I guess we'll never know now, huh?"

"Daryl, please...don't!" Nancy cries, before a

BANG!

(You have died)

(Good Ending)

"Sigma Kappa Phi!" Nancy says. She hears the safe reject the code.

"Nancy, now's not the time for jokes. Give me the code, ok?"

"Delta Delta Delta!" Nancy responds, and the safe rejects the code yet again.

"Look, you give it to me, I get the journal, you maybe stay alive. Got it? So give me the code, for real this time." Daryl says, annoyed.

"Phi Delta Phi!" The safe rejects the code one last time, and Nancy hears the sound of a cage falling, Daryl shrieking, and a loud alarm going off. She walks into the foyer to see him, arms crossed, looking angry.

"I guess this means no date, huh?" Daryls asks.

"No, Daryl. No chance at all." Nancy replies. Daryl groans.

Dear Hannah, it's crazy how the most pristine people can do the cruelest things. After Daryl's dad went bankrupt, he didn't have all the money he used to, and suddenly his whole persona was being threatened. Since he was already delivering top-secret papers to Mitch, he had no issues joining in on Mitch's drug dealing. However, Jake found out, and Daryl decided to silence him before he could go public with anything. I still can't believe he flirted with me that much...I guess Ned'll like hearing about it!
