She truly should have known that something would go wrong. All of her little tricks had been going swimmingly even after all these years. So she might have become a bit cocky when she stood up on her broom, imitating a surfer and she tried to actually walk a few steps on the broom. The connection did not break and she stepped on the tempo, running and while she mentally slowed the broom she made a forward flip.
While she had timed it perfectly, she had completely overestimated the balance it took and she slipped off, barely being able to hold on to the broom with a few fingers.
She knew she couldn't look down and therefore completely blended out the screams from below her and even with her added cloud strength she couldn't just swing back on the broom but it wasn't like this was her first time barely hanging on on her broom.
Afterall in her first quidditch match her broom had been hexed and she had never stopped her reckless flying. This time was far different to the time in her first year though.
First of all she had a perfectly listening broom, not a cursed one and she was way more experienced and had to work around accidents like this all the time, even intentionally.
She took one last deep breath, before she abruptly cut off the magic of her broom, immediately plumbing down with him.
With an added boost to her strength through her flames she manoeuvred herself back on the broom while falling, activating it again but still way too close to the ground to stop a collision. She slowed it down as much as possible and jumped off shortly to the ground, rolling off to minimise the impact but still shattering her shoulder.
She didn't even notice the pain so full of adrenaline was she. Her shoulder was already pulling itself back together, healing the injury in a matter of seconds.
She was breathlessly lying there for a moment and then the laughter blubbered up. Addrenaline still cursing to her veins and she couldn't remember the last time she felt that good and free.
She could see feet next to her face and when she looked up, Reborn was looking at her,
"You know if you're that into adrenaline. I could give you danger instead."
She just laughed louder, brightly smiling up at the surprisingly pale sun "Don't think you could ever achieve that level."
"I take that as a challenge. Done now?" he didn't seem amused but she was way too happy to be bothered by that. "Yeah my legs are a bit wobbly."
She ignored his extended hand and instead just jumped back up.
Reborn mustered her for a few more seconds before he snatched her broom from the ground and disappeared inside the house.
She wasn't really worried though, even while he was the greatest hitman. A muggle just couldn't do anything against a summoning charm and the broom was nearly indestructible. Only specific magic could break it.
She casually strolled past the group, finding it a bit too amusing how they all looked quite frustrated, pale and still a bit on edge. Even Fon seemed disgruntled with his normal smile twitching but she just gave him her brightest smile and entered the house loudly yelling so that Reborn could hear her "You know I can summon my broom whenever I want, right?"
"Yeah, that's why I made it unmoving." his voice toned down from upstairs. She curiously went to him and had to laugh at the image in front of her.
Her Lightningstrike was tightly wound up in numerous chains. If there wasn't a tiny part of the handle showing she wouldn't even have a clue that it was in there. Naturally the chains were fixated with locks.
"I'm not sure where you got so many chains and locks and if I should be impressed how quickly you put them on but… Do you think this is the right time to tell you that I learned how to pick locks in my first year?"
She lazily flicked her wand for a weak alohomora, only aiming at one lock, but it nonetheless immediately opened.
Reborn for a second took a deep breath and carefully controlled his expression before he turned around towards her, with quick strides and he stood in front of her.
"Splendore, I think I actually have to tire you out then or put you on a leash." his hand almost caressing her jaw before he firmly tilted her head back, looming over her .
Violet, still high on adrenaline just smirked "Oh? you think you're capable of that?"
"Oh definitely splendore. Afterall I can teach you so many things." he almost purred while his black eyes bore into her own, instantly hypnotising her and making her unable to look away.
They heard a cough "You know Yuni is still here, kora."
Waking up the next morning was even worse than normally. Her head hurt, she felt dizzy and weak and Verde was looming over her.
"You've got a cold."
"I probably should have worn warmer clothes yesterday" she managed to croak out only to end in a bout of coughing.
"So we have another reason why brooms are bad. You're just proving my point now."
She hadn't even noticed that Reborn stood next to her bed as well, her fever muddled brain was even hallucinating worried looks. She probably was worse off than she thought.
"It's not a big deal. I'm just sick."
"You have a fever of 108 °F"
She just rolled her eyes, immediately regretting it because of the pain that shot through her.
She could make out Fon as well as he stepped towards her bed. Actually all of the arcobalenos were hovering near the door.
"Violet, this is a really dangerous temperature… Just rest here, okay? Let Verde and Reborn take care of you. I can make you some medicinal tea."
She shook her head, definitely not having learned from her former experience and cringing at the pain and dizzy spell "No need."
Reborn groaned out frustrated "Violet. Just let us take care of you."
"No… just… Fon, can you get to the brown box on my desk?"
sending her a few questioning glances but he followed her instructions
"Please take the vial with the label pepperup and bring it to me, yeah?"
She closed her eyes while she waited, still suffering from the pain.
"Oh and could you open it? The cork is annoying." she said while glancing through one eye and the potion was handed to her.
She carefully sat up a little under the watchful and not amused gazes of her fellow bondmates.
"Bottoms up" she mumbled and forced herself to chug down the vile liquid.
She made a disgusted noise and waited a few seconds for the potion to take effect.
She could see Verde stumbling backwards when steam began to rise out of her ears.
Violet just sounded out a relieved sigh "So… I'm in the mood for breakfast. You coming?" she grinned out, no longer showing any form of her former exhaustion.
Verde followed her closely "You're able to heal illnesses in a matter of seconds?"
"Yeah we got cures for most of them. Some do need a little more time though."
She made it into the kitchen and the pan and eggs were already flying out with a swish of her wand.
"Does that go for all illnesses?"
"Yeah most of them. Muggle illnesses are definitely not a problem as are most injuries. For example broken bones can be healed with a spell and only take a few seconds… it's more of a problem if the bone has vanished we can still regrow it over night but by Merlin I don't recommend it."
She started on the drinks and Colonnello spoke up "You had to regrow your bones?"
"Yeah I broke my arm in a quidditch accident when I was twelve."
"Again brooms."
She pointedly ignored Reborn.
"Kora, but a broken bone is not regrowing."
"Oh yeah we had a fraud as a teacher that year and well he said he would fix it and even while I tried to refuse it he still used a spell and instead of healing me he vanished my bones. Believe me when I say that was disturbing. It just dangled around like a weird oversized gummy worm"
Fruits were getting cut up while she spoke and Verde found his voice again "You mean you wizards would be able to heal any of the illnesses that are plaguing the world? Why aren't you doing anything about that?"
"No, we can heal wizardfolk… muggle are a different thematic. And we aren't even capable of getting all the illnesses that muggle can get. Same as that we have illnesses like dragonpox that you couldn't get"
"You mean there are physiological differences?"
"Thats correct. Some of our potions would outright kill you because of the amount of poisonous plants we use for them. That's why only a few would be suitable for Muggle. But well… potions are disgusting and I don't think you would enjoy drinking something that has flobberworms, dragon liver or spider legs in it."
"Is the difference only in what you take in? Would there be anatomical changes in your body as well?"
"Literally no clue… but well we live longer than muggles that's for sure. I think 137 is the average lifespan? Not that this is accurate… most wizardfolk don't die from old age… but yeah it depends on the strength of your magic core.. I think the oldest recorder wizard had reached an age of 755 or something like that?"
"And how old will you turn?"
"Old. So would you rather have pancakes or waffles?" she changed the topic, not really into musing about her power level.
She quickly prepared the rest of breakfast and was almost ready to sit down when Yuni spoke up "Violet?"
"Yes Yuni?"
"You don't really have a limit on what you can transform in, right?"
"You could say that. I mean I know that Albus Dumbledore wrote an article if it's theoretically possible for a Metamorphmagus to disappear into nothing… so not many limitations."
"So you could transform into something like a cat?"
Violet concentrated shortly until she spurted cat ears, tail, eyes and teeth and turned around to Yuni "Like this?"
"No, I mean fully."
"Yeah it's possible" Violet answered but made no attempt to transform herself further.
"Can you do it?"
"...I would rather not."
"Why?"
"I can morph my body yuni… only my body."
Yuni started at her in confusion until Lal took pity on her "She means she would leave her clothes behind,"
"Oh…"
And with that the witch was finally able to sit down as well and they started eating.
It didn't take long until Colonnello addressed her though "So I was thinking about yesterday and… you probably know more spells than that, right?"
"Yes, quite a few." she had to chuckle at that.
"So… Do you fight with spells normally?"
"That is correct," she hummed.
"Can I see it?"
"You want to fight against me?" She paused at that, looking at the slightly sheepish Colonnello, who looked expectantly at her.
"If you're up to it."
She bit on her lip contemplating it. It would clearly be a friendly spar and this was different from actual fighting. She really didn't wish to battle someone again… but she always liked friendly duelling.
Furthermore Colonnello would be her best bet for it. She didn't give herself any illusion of ever having a chance to beat Fon. If it was a life or death fight maybe… but in a friendly spar he would easily take over with his insane speed and his close combat.
As a long distance fighter herself it was an unfair matchup that gave her a way too small window of operation. Reborn would be similar… While he used guns he was still experienced in close range and utilised a fighting style that used close combat and long distance simultaneously. His adaptability in both would make the fight again way harder than anything.
Sure Colonnello wasn't helpless in close combat but he excelled at long distance and therefore she would have a fighting chance and his first thought wouldn't be to get close to her and she would make sure that he wouldn't be able to. She still had the bonus that no one really knew anything about duelling and therefore she would be able to catch him off guard.
There wasn't even really a need to present herself as weak anymore. The whole group had their own dynamic and she was certain that none of them would ever force her to fight and it would definitely be better to show them her capabilities in a relaxed environment instead of a more heated situation if it ever became necessary.
She did trust them after all and therefore she just smiled slightly at the rain "Sure, after breakfast?"
