One Month Later

Exactly one week before school started, the Schuesters arrived at their new house, their new home. It was Evie's turn to drive, so she pulled into the driveway behind her parents. She nudged Nico, who was fast asleep in the passenger seat beside her. It was a nice, two story home with a perfectly maintained lawn.

"Well, this doesn't look as bad as I thought it would," Evie commented.

"It looks alright," Nico said as he stretched and yawned.

Evie turned off the car and pulled the keys out of the ignition. The movers were already there unloading their belongings into the house. Evie got out of the car and stretched as Nico did the same. The two were clearly tired from the long trek from Ohio, even if they had stopped at a couple of motels to spend the night.

"Well, how was the drive?" Will asked as he and Emma approached their eldest children, along with Finnia who trailed behind them.

"Long," Evie complained with a yawn.

"Well, luckily the movers got here before us, so all we have left to do is decide bedrooms," Will said. "There's one in the basement, but the windows are kind of small, and there's two upstairs."

"I'll take the basement," Finnia offered, wanting to put as much space between themself and their overachieving siblings as possible.

"I call dibs on the biggest room," Nico said. "You can kick me out next year."

Evie rolled her eyes. "I don't think so, you won't even be here that long, why move all of your things twice?"

Will sighed, still tired from the drive. "Let's not fight over this, just place rock paper scissors or something."

"Fine," Evie said with a smirk. She and Nico played a round of rock, paper, scissors and Evie won with a triumphant smile.

"Come on, rematch!" Nico complained.

"I don't think so," Evie teased as she made her way inside of the house. "Besides, you have a car, you're spoiled enough." she called over her shoulder.

Finnia smiled slightly as Nico sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Better luck next time." Will said, placing a hand on his son's shoulder. "The other room isn't that much smaller."

That evening Will and Emma decided to order some pizza, since the house was still covered in boxes and they hadn't even begun to unpack any of the kitchenware yet. Will called the kids down for dinner, and they all ate dinner together in the dining room, which was semi set up as the mover had at least set up the dining room table and chairs. As they were finishing dinner, there was a knock at the door.

"I'll get it." Evie volunteered as she stood up. She made her way to the door and opened it to reveal a girl who looked around her age with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. Standing on either side of her were a middle-aged man and woman, whom Evie assumed were her parents. The woman was holding

"Hi there, my name's Richard Grant, and I'm the town pastor. My wife, Kara, and my daughter. Peyton, would just like to welcome you to the neighbourhood."
"Oh, of course, come on in," Evie said as she opened the door wider. Will approached the doorway, and called over the rest of the Schuesters, who introduced themselves to the Grants.

"Do you need any help unpacking?" Peyton asked, glancing at Evie.

Evie shrugged. "I'm kind of tired from the drive, wanna go sit on the porch?"

"Sure," Peyton agreed. The two of them excused themselves from the group and went to sit on the stairs of the front porch.

"So, where did you move from?" Peyton asked.

"Lima, Ohio," Evelyn replied as she rested her chin on her knees. "I've done a lot of research on King Falls, and it sounds really boring, no offense."
Peyton chuckled. "It can be, but it's not if you know the right people. You should come hang out with me and my friends, we'll show you a good time."

"Sure, after I unpack the mountain of boxes in my room," Evie said dryly. "But that's an endeavour that can wait until the morning."

"Fair enough," Peyton said as she leaned back. "The school's really excited about your dad coming though, our arts department has been neglected for a long time, I can't remember the last time the school even put on a musical."

Evie smirked. "Oh, trust me, you'll be getting a lot more than a musical, I'm sure the first thing he'll do is start a glee club."

"What the hell is a glee club?" Peyton asked, giving Evie a quizzical look.

Evie raised her eyebrows. "Did the preacher's daughter just curse?"

"Oh, Evie, there's so much you don't know about me," Peyton said playfully as she twirled her hair between her fingers.

Evie smiled. "So, tell me all about King Falls High, what should I expect?"

"Well, I'm sure it's similar to your old school, the jocks pretty much run the place, along with the cheerleaders. And yes, I'm one of them, but I'm not stuck up like the others are. I'm not sure how well you'll fit in, do you play any sports?"

Evie nodded. "Field hockey."

"We do have a team for that, but it's not that popular, and your shiny new kid status will only last for so long," Peyton pointed out.

"I'm not that concerned about being popular, I want to be successful," Evie said.

"Please, you have your whole life to be successful, just follow my lead and we'll have you popular in no time," Peyton teased.

Evie shrugged in response.

"I'll pick you up tomorrow around ten, if you get in good with my friends you'll be fine, alright?" Peyton suggested.

"Sure," Evie agreed.
