Wearing a comfy oversized brown sweater, black flannel pajama bottoms, slippers, Myeol Mang sat sipping some of his many bottles of aged liquors. He sat next to the circular window, enjoying the night view, the ambiance of the fires throughout the living room. Dong Kyung's cell phone sat near him on the hard stone surface, he glanced over at the electronic device, curiosity piqued as to why she insisted he take the device.
He stares as the phones begins making an annoying musical chiming sound. He finishes pouring a drink, and sips until completely gone, a matter of nine total rings as he stares pointedly at the phone before he picks it up. He swipes a finger across the screen, holds it up to his ear, without answering.
Dong Kyung's soft, tentative voice asks,
"Hello?"
Briefest a pause, he responds, "Yes."
Surprised, she comments,
"You know how to answer the phone?"
He teasingly says,
"I know how to hang up, too."
Annoyed, she yells, "Hey!"
Glancing over at the closed apartment door, worriedly checking the kitchen window as she is sitting on the apartment rooftops. Quieter tone, says,
"I am calling you secretly without my Aunt knowing it. So don't make me yell at you. Umm…what are you doing? Are you at home?"
He coyly asks,
"Why?"
She shyly says,
"I'm just curious, after sleeping together everyday."
He teased,
"You only pay attention to certain words…normally you speak with such little reservation."
She smiled, saying,
"Do I? Hey, you know…"
Smiling, he questions, "Yes?"
She prompts,
"Is yes all you know how to say?"
Teasing tone, answers, "Yes."
Dong Kyung hisses into the phone, annoyed by his mannerisms. Figuring he's up to his usual mischief side, she feels frustrated not being able to see his reactions and give him hell for his naughty behavior.
Quietly he says,
"They resemble…each other, your Aunt and your Mother."
Dong Kyung warmly responds,
"Not just resembling, but they are the same since they are twins. When I see Aunt, it's just like seeing my Mom. Always looking at Aunt and only thinking…my Mom would've looked like this…but when I actually saw her…she was different. Thank you. I didn't get to say that. Thank you for showing me my parents."
He softly responded, "Yes."
Continuing, she said,
"And I will also think carefully about the wish for myself, too."
He responds, "All right."
Teasing, she asks,
"Do you not know how to say anything besides all right?"
Teasing back, he says,
"I know how to say goodnight. Goodnight."
Surprised, her voice rising,
"Wow, this is so new and awkward. Talking on the phone like this…"
Quietly, he says,
"All right, hang up."
Quickly, she responds, "Ah, wait."
He asks, "What?"
Tentatively she asks,
"You said earlier that you would listen to pretty much any favor I would ask, right? So I was wondering if I can just ask one favor?"
