Katherine Malloy had never wanted a conventional life. She was fascinated by fictitious worlds, but despite her dream to be in one the reality was a lot less glamourous. 1. Prologue

Katherine Malloy was strange. At least, that's what her parent's thought. Especially when her father took her to see a movie in 1977 with her older brother and instead of brushing it aside like all the other girls she grew up with she embraced the story and decided she wanted to be a princess, only one in space. She drifted away from her family on the following years only to be thrown in the center of the narrative when her parents suggest she make some money.

In 1983 she had helped the kids she babysat save Will Byers from an inter-dimensional world.

In 1984 she realized that Steve Harrington wasn't as bad as she thought.

In 1985 she had gotten a job at the mall to regain any sense of normalcy only to face the upside down once again.

And now in 1986 she tries to protect her friend from the people who want him dead while dealing with an inter-dimensional creature who feeds on misery.

Katherine Malloy dreamed of being a hero. She supposed she got what she wanted but like always, it comes with a price.
