Prologue:

I do not own Harry Potter!

WARNING!: Mentions of blood and death in childbirth!

"AAAAHGGG!" A woman screams, her light brown hair plastered to her face.

"It's alright May, push!" Madam Pomfrey orders her sternly standing at the bottom of the bed.

"Where - Is - Sirius!" May grits as her stomach tightens painfully again, her green eyes flashing dangerously.

"He went to floo call Andromeda, now push!" Madam Pomfrey tells her impatiently, honestly what was she thinking being this stubborn child's midwife.

"AAAHHG! SIRIUS!" May screeches again pushing with all her might just as Sirius Back ran through the doors.

"I'm here, I'm here." Sirius soothes her rushing to her side and holding her hand gently, pushing the hair out of her face and kissing her forehead.

"Ugh! You are never touching me again!" May pants as the urge to push subsides slightly.

"But just think we'll have our baby at the end of it!" Sirius tells his newly wed wife bouncing excitedly, a beaming grin on his face.

"And then we'll have to give her up!" May snaps extremely upset, tears filling her eyes.

"Hey," Sirius whispers resting his forehead on hers, "it's only temporary, as soon as it's safe from my family we'll all be together again. Andromeda is gonna take great care of her and we can visit our baby all the time." He reassures her putting up a strong facade but breaking inside.

May opens her mouth only to grit her teeth in pain as another contraction starts. She grips Sirius hand. Hard.

"Ow!" Sirius yelps only to quell under the glare his wife gives him.

"I am in agony, I am pushing a baby out of my vagina," May starts her voice deadly as her emerald green eyes spit fire at him "and all I'm doing is gripping your hand and you- AAHHH!" she's cut off by her own scream as a searing pain spears through her pelvic.

"Oh Merlin!" Madam Pomfrey curses, causing Sirius' eyes to widen. She never curses!

"P-Poppy, what's going on?" Sirius stutters only for his heart to stop as Poppy's hand comes away covered in blood.

"Delilah!" Poppy shouts, causing a house elf to pop next to her.

"Yes M-?" Delilah questions only to be cut off.

"Get me the potion kit for a caesarean and for internal bleeding now!" Poppy commands already waving her wand rapidly over May as Delilah pops away.

"Poppy, she's passed out!" Sirius exclaims panicked his eyes wide as Mays eyes roll into the back of her head.

"Sirius you need to leave!" Poppy says sternly, slathering the numbing cream all over Mays swollen stomach.

"I'm not leaving her!" Sirius shouts angrily, clutching onto Mays hand tightly.

"Delilah." is all Poppy's says as she starts to cut open Mays stomach.
Delilah grabs Sirius and Pops him out of the infirmary, as he yells in protest.

Sirius jumps up from where he landed in a heap and bangs on the door trying to get back in.

"Pads? Pads?! SIRIUS!" James yells turning Sirius around forcefully, "What's going on?" He asks searching his best friends face.

"I- I don't know! There was a lot of blood!" Sirius stutters, tears falling down his face.

James vaguely hears their friends gasping behind him, but all he's focused on is his devastated best friend.

"Come on Padfoot, come sit down there is nothing you can do." James tells him quietly, giving their friends a quelling look as they go to speak, leading a numb Sirius to the seats and sitting him between himself and Remus.

Half an hour later, Delilah pops in front of them.

Sirius jumps to his feet as everybody straightens "What's happening?! Wha-?" the words get stuck in his throat as he sees the look on the house elf's face.

"You can come in now Mr Black." she says quietly and holds her hand out ready to pop him into the infirmary.

"I'll come too!" Lily exclaims quickly moving forward, she needs to see her best friend. She needs to know she's okay.

"Mr Black only." The little house elf says firmly.

Lily opens her mouth to protest but Sirius quickly grasps Delilahs hand and POP they gone.

In the infirmary Sirius freezes, over on the hospital bed his wife lays pale and not breathing.

"No!" He gasps, staggering forwards "No! No! No!" He chants grasping her hand only to feel no pulse.

"I'm so sorry Sirius." Poppy whispers, placing a hand on his shoulder as he shakes, "She had a Uterine Rupture, I did everything I could for her but nothing worked." she explains remorseful as her eyes well up.

Sirius nods his head silently as tears pour down his face. Whilst he and May might not have been in love with each other, she was still one of his absolute best friends.

Suddenly a babies cry can be heard and Sirius' head snaps up as he looks around frantically, spying the cot.

"My baby! Did she-?" he gasps, he thought she didn't make it. May still looks pregnant.

"Would you like to meet your daughter ?" Poppy asks him gently, but Sirius is already moving.

Standing over the crib Sirius cries, laying there is his beautiful unplanned healthy wriggly baby girl wrapped in a soft pink blanket.
Sirius hesitantly scoops up his daughter and kisses her tiny forehead, before bringing her securely to his chest.
He doesn't want let her go, he just wants to hold her forever, but he knows what he has to do. He will not lose her too.

Sirius exits the infirmary his head low.

"Sirius what-?!" James asks only to choke as Sirius raises his head his face covered in tears.

"Sirius... where's-wheres May?" Lily asks cautiously, her best friend can't be gone. Her sister has to be okay. Her niece has to be okay.

"They," Sirius croaks before clearing his throat, "they didn't make it." he chokes out.

"The... the baby?" Peter asks quietly, as Lily, Marlene and Alice cry.

Sirius just shakes his head, before dropping to his knees heartbroken.
James and Remus rush over to him and drop to their knees, wrapping their arms around Sirius as he sobs.

And on that dark night Sirius Black aged fifteen, became a widow and had to give his precious daughter away to his cousin for protection.
On the 19th of May 1974, Asterope Indi Black was born.

Please leave a review! I would love to know what you think! Merry Christmas!

P.S

I want to add as reassurance that fatal bleeding due to Uterine Ruptures is extremely rare and affects less than 1% of pregnant women! So nobody panic!
