Chapter One: Dodge Ball Day

"Come on Omar. Give it all you got." Alexis says as she is watching Omar foot wrestle Craig.

"I'm trying." Omar says before Kelsey joins Craig in beating Omar.

"No one can defeat team two left feet!" Craig and Kelsey shout in union before the group hears a horn.

"It's Dodge Ball Day." Alexis, Craig and Kelsey say in union.

"Dodge Ball Day?" Omar asks confusedly.

"Dodge Ball Day!?" J.P. shouts.

*Timeskip*

"Okay what exactly is happening here?" Omar asks confusedly as everyone is gathered at the playground.

"It's Dodge Ball Day Omar." Alexis says as she looks at Omar.

"Kids enter their names into a bowl and the two who get picked get to be team captains." Craig says.

"Now. Who's name shall I choose?" Eliza asks as she prepares to draw a name.

"It's definitely not gonna be me. I had to stay home and watch Jessica so I missed sign-ups. We painted a picture. Wanna see?" Craig asks excitedly as he holds his phone.

"The first captain is... Craig. Big surprise! Thing's are all about Craig again!" Eliza says annoyedly as she draws Craig's name from the bowl.

"Me!? But how?" Craig asks in surprise.

"Well go on Craig." Alexis says as she looks at Craig.

"You were chosen by destiny herself to lead your team to victory!" Kelsey excitedly.

"Yeah. I'm destiny's child." Craig says as he smiles and goes forward.

"And the second team captain is... Jackie! Who's Jackie?" Eliza asks.

"Jackie? Wait isn't that-" Alexis asks as she stands near Craig.

"Yep. The Arm." Omar says as Alexis looks at him.

"Thought the name was familiar. I never knew his name was Jackie. I swear Keun Sup must of told me a bunch of times. That's why I never really addressed him by a name." Alexis says.

"I did." A voice says revealing to be Keun Sup.

"Sorry. I guess I never heard you." Alexis says.

"No sweat." Keun Sup says as he runs back over to the others.

"The arm!? He's the strongest thrower in the creek! I heard that he once threw a water balloon into the sun and it exploded. How am I supposed to compete with that!?" Craig asks in alarm as Jackie steps forward before waving at Craig.

"Craig." Alexis says.

"Oh right. Hello. So um who's gonna pick first?" Craig asks as Jackie gives a confused look and points to his ears.

"What the..." Omar says as he walks over to Alexis.

"Oh. You're deaf. Sorry I don't understand. Alexis?" Craig asks as he looks at Alexis after Jackie makes a bunch of gestures with his hands.

"Hey don't look at me. I know different languages but that is one I'm not familiar with. It's sign language but I don't understand anymore than you. I always relied on Aggie or Keun Sup to interpret for me." Alexis says as Jackie smiles at her and nods.

"He said you can have first pick." Keun Sup says as he runs over to Craig before Jackie makes a gesture to Keun Sup.

"I don't need a translator to know that means thank you." Alexis says as Jackie nods.

"I gotcha dude." Keun Sup says as he runs away from Craig before Alexis goes over to Omar.

"I pick... Omar!" Craig says as he picks Omar to join his team before Jackie points to his pick of the kids.

"You're picking me?" Bobby asks happily before Jackie shakes his head and points again as everyone sees Maya.

"Maya. Our old friend. She's here." Omar says as Maya walks over to Jackie.

"Maya? But she..." Alexis says as she looks at Maya unsurely before Maya looks at her and nods before Alexis looks at her.

"I know. She ran on us the last time." Omar says as he looks at Alexis.

"She never hangs around for too long anywhere it seems." Alexis says as she gives a disappointed look.

"She's here! Maya's a beast! She once hit a ball into the sun and it exploded! How am I supposed to compete with that!?" Craig asks in alarm before he picks Alexis, Aggie, Toman and Eustace.

"And now for your final pick." Eliza says.

"Craig! Over here! Pick me." Bobby says excitedly.

"I can't believe she's here. I wonder for how long this time." Alexis asks as she looks at Omar.

"Same here. Just be careful around her. I'm not certain I wanna trust her right now. I don't know that I can with how she has done us before." Omar says.

"What makes you so sure she hasn't changed?" Alexis asks.

"I'm not saying that. I'm just saying to be careful. Besides you're my sister. It's my job to protect you. I don't know how she will act. I just don't want neither of us getting hurt again. Especially you. I know how bad it hurt you when she turned on us." Omar says.

"Don't remind me Omar. I just want to forget ever feeling that way." Alexis says as she looks away.

"Bobby." Craig says as everyone sees him pick Bobby over a distraught Kelsey.

"B-B-Bobby?" Kelsey asks in disbelief.

"Yada, Yada, Yada. Jackie gets Kelsey. The teams are set!" Eliza says as everyone goes to their respecting teams.
