Netherlands 10:25pm.
"No sign of him here."
"Keep looking."
The helicopters hovered over the abandoned, destroyed, snowy mountaintop. The pilots, Logan and Rhodey Rhodes searched high and low for Tony Stark, who hasn't been seen since the day Mister Sinister turned the whole entire world to ashes.
Latveria 4:20am
"DOOM!!!"
The voice of Mister Sinister echoed through the halls of Doom's base of operations.
"Go... find the coward." ordered Sinister to the once known X-Men, Angel and Beast, now dubbed Archangel and Dark Beast.
Both Archangel and Beast tore through the halls, destroying any doombots that stood in their way, clearing a path for Sinister. After reaching Doom's throne room Sinister and his ohorts were surprised to find the Avengers, Captain America, Wolverine, Thing, Spider-Man and the newest member, Kitty Pryde were there waiting for them.
"Ah, Avengers... I was wondering when or if you would show." laughed Sinister "Unfortunately for you, this is where you meet your end. Angel. Beast. Destroy them."
Archangel and Beast lunged at the heroes while Doom retreated from the room.
"Someone tell me. Why exactly are we protecting Doom in the first place?" asked Wolverine, as he slashed at Beast, only to miss him and put three big scratches into Doom's throne instead.
"We're not really protecting him, we're just more or less trying to keep Sinister from getting to him." answered Cap, throwing his shield in Archangel's direction, only for it to be caught and thrown back at him.
"Good catch." said Spider-Man "But let me handle this dude."
Spidey latched onto Archangel's left wing with his web and pulled himself onto his back.
"Hold still pal." said Spidey, grabbing hold of the web on the back of the left wing and shooting another one onto the right "Yippee ki yay!"
As Spider-Man rode Archangel around the room, the rest of the Avengers had their hands full with Beast.
"How the heck do we get this guy?!?" growled Logan.
"I don't know, but I think we might have company." said Kitty pointing at a crowd of possessed heroes.
"Now how the hell are we supposed to take on all of those guys?" said Ben in disbelief.
"Very carefully." answered Wolverine, sticking his claws out, ready for a fight.
Meanwhile, outside of the base, War Machine and Iron Man fought against the team of Vision, Storm and Scarlet Witch.
"Rhodey, how you holding up?" asked Iron Man, blasting Scarlet Witch in the abdomen.
"I could use a little help!" said Rhodey, getting caught in Storm's wind and Vision's telepathy.
"I'm coming!" said Iron Man, finishing up Scarlet Witch, ready to go save his friend, but before he could the entire top of the base exploded, releasing a bright light into the sky "That can't be good."
Suddenly the clouds exploded and balls of light fire rained upon the entire planet.
"Rhodes!" screamed Tony, flying towards Rhodey, who was now free from Vision's grip, after a ball of light came down and hit both him and Storm "Let's get out of here."
Tony and Rhodey flew as far as they possibly could. When they got over the Netherlands a fireball came hurdling down into Iron Man's back, making him fall to the ground below.
"Tony!" shouted Rhodes, turning around to see his friend falling to his doom.
Rhodes flew down to the ground searching for Tony, but he couldn't find him anywhere. He was gone.
Meanwhile, in Latveria, Doom's base was completely destroyed. After the fire died down Thing dug himself out from the rubble, pulling Spider-Man along with him.
"Come on kid, wake up!" said Ben, shaking Peter awake gently.
"Oh God." groaned Peter, holding to his head "Did anyone get the license plate on that semi that came by earlier?"
"Come on Pete, get up and help me find the rest." said Ben, kicking Spidey in the foot, again, gently (he is made of rock).
The two searched through the rubble, but many of their friends were completely fried.
"Ben!"
Ben and Peter looked over towards Doom's, now destroyed throne and saw Bucky laying under part of the roof. Ben and Pete rushed over to help him out as quickly as they could.
"You alright Buck?" asked Ben.
"Yeah." answered Cap "Have you found any others?"
"No. Not yet." said Spidey, just then they heard another scream for help.
After heading towards the scream they saw Storm, kneeling on the ground, holding onto the left side of her face.
"Ororo?"
Storm looked up at Cap, the left side of her face, right over eye was burned badly by the falling light.
"Don't worry." said Cap, kneeling down to check her wound "Spidey, Ben, go find Logan. If anyone lived through all of that I know HE did."
"Got it." said Spidey, shooting a web on a nearby piece of wall and going up to the top to find a hill of debris.
At the bottom of the debris was Wolverine, cradling the body of Kitty Pryde in his arms.
"I'm sorry..." whispered Wolverine as Spidey slid down the hill to him "I'M SORRY!!!"
"Oh God." gasped Thing, walking around the hill.
"YOU HEAR ME GOD?!?" cried Wolverine "I'M SORRY!!!"
Spidey places his hand upon Logan's shoulder. Logan stood up, wiping a lone tear from his cheek, which looked more like he was scratching an itch to both Spidey and Ben.
"I shouldn't have brought her along." said Wolverine "I was her mentor. I swore I'd protect her. How many have to die... because of my failures?"
Netherlands 10:30pm
"Nothing?" asked Rhodes.
"Nothing." answered Logan.
The two men were now landed on the foot of the mountain, deciding to go up on foot.
"I'm coming my friend." huffed Rhodey "Please be alive."
