I think it's safe to say that those of us that have seen Akame Ga Kill hate the fact that Mine died. For those that don't know I spoiled it in detail here. However, Mine shall live here and she shall live on. In the light novels, she is not dead but comatose. Perfect starting point. This chapter will just set the scene and go along between anime and novel.

I don't own Akame ga Kill, no matter how much I wish I did

Side note: The three months between Seryu's death and Mine's death, Tatsumi and Mine were a couple, look it up.

Chapter 1: Kill the Separation

The days were counting down now. The end was coming and it was driving Tatsumi insane. In a few days, they would raid the capital and assassinate the minister as was their profession. However, he had a much more pressing matter on his mind. That matter being Mine. She made her love for him clear in recent months and they were nearly inseparable. They were often seen holding hands which warranted a lot of teasing from Leone and Lubb. Three months after that day, and Tatsumi had come to fully reciprocate Mine's love for him. Now all they had to do was live to see it flourish.

After Lubbock's very brutal death, Tatsumi was captured and subject to execution by the hand of Esdeath. During the event, Night Raid attacked. Najenda, Leone, Mine, and Susanoo raided the arena and proceeded to take down Great General Budo and Esdeath while Akame raced off to find something important. Not long after engagement, Akame returned with Tatsumi's sword that held his Incusio Imperial Arms.

The fight raged on for many, many minutes. Akame went for a solid strike on Budo, but the general turned his sights on the sniper who held a perch about him. "Feel the wrath of my Imperial Arms Adramelech's secret ability!"

Mine watched as the lightning charged up. Everyone looked over her way. Tatsumi cried out to her. "Mine!"

Budo roared as the charge finished. "Solid Shot!" A beam of light shot down from the sky, directing itself at Mine and her rifle.

The pinkette stood firm and gripped the handle on Pumpkin's barrel. 'Pumpkin, I'm begging you. Respond to me.' Her rifle began to glow yellow as her own power shot charged up.

The Great General yelled once more. "This is the end!"

Mine's eyes teared up a bit as the immense strain on her being took it's toll. 'Tatsumi!'

Both shots collided, then Mine's pushed on. Pumpkin's energy normally responded to Mine's intense fear or hate of her opponent. However, it now responded to her love for Tatsumi. Pumpkin's longest barrel end crumbled away piece by piece. The rest began to crack as Mine gritted her teeth. With one final burst of will, she cried out, "Like Hell I'll lose!"

Mine's shot surpassed the power of the great general and incinerated him. The largely oversize man fell to Earth with no life in his body. Mine had won.

Pumpkin's frame cracked and shattered to the ground out of her hand. Her normal pink pigtails blown away leaving her hair flowing down her back. She stared up into the sun's light as it warmed her face. "I... I won." Not a second later, she fell off of her sniper's perch with no energy left to stop her.

Akame acted quickly, cutting Tatsumi free and throwing him his sword. "Tatsumi!"

With Incursio now in hand, Tatsumi raced off towards his fallen sniper as she plummeted. "Mine!" His armor wrapped him in silver and helped him boost on. With a spectacular dive into the crevice she'd fallen into, he caught her right as she was about to hit the ground. Her limp body now lie in his arms. "Mine... Mine!"

After a hasty retreat at the cost of Susanoo's life, Tatsumi raced on foot towards the hideout. Mine still hadn't woken up so he just ran faster. As he ran, he made her a promise. "I'm taking you to the hideout right now. Your wounds will heal quickly, okay?"

For the first time since she'd fallen, Mine spoke. "Put... me down."

"What are you saying? We have to hurry and treat your injuries," Tatsumi continued to run on.

"Just... put me down." Mine's voice was weak but her words were strong enough to make him stop. Her bright pink eyes showed nothing but love for the person carrying her to safety.

Tatsumi came to a stop near a small creak and began to cleanse her wounds. They weren't deep, but she did have a massive bruise on her abdomen. He cleaned her face gently and wiped across her hands and the exposed parts of her dress.

Mine looked up as he turned back to put the cloth down. "Tatsumi." Her hand reached up to find him.

"I'm right here." He took her hand in his and gripped it gently.

"You saved me in Kyoroch, so I was thinking I had to return the favor." The pink irises of her eyes watered as she stared at her beloved in the setting sun.

Tatsumi's own eyes watered. He felt like this might be the end. "That's not..."

Before he could finish the thought, she spoke again. "We're even now, right?"

"Yeah, so hold yourself together."

She let out a breathless chuckle. "You're a fool. I can't heal like Leone."

Tatsumi's eyes squeezed shut. He refused to see another teammate die before him. Especially not his lover.

Mine continued to talk quietly. "I wanted to fight together until the end, but..."

"What're you saying? We're still going to fight together." He was beginning to lose his composure.

She giggled a bit. "You're a bad liar, Tatsumi. You're as mushy as usual."

He pulled her hand to his face and kissed it. "This can't... You idiot! Why did you have to come save me?"

"Stop crying. You're a man, aren't you?" Mine's eyes were still watering as she watched him. She truly thought it was the end for her. She moved her hand to his cheek. "Hey, I'm glad I fell in love with you."

Tatsumi held her hand to him. "Don't die. Don't you dare die. You're going to stand on the winning side, aren't you?"

"What are you saying?" With all the strength she had, Mine leaned up. "I'm already on the winning side." She pulled him to her and kissed him. She was convinced that it was her last. "I love you."

Her body began to fall back, but Tatsumi caught her. "Mine!" Not really knowing what to do, he ripped open her dress top and placed his ear to her bare chest. She still had a heartbeat. It was faint, but still there. "Hold on Mine! You're not done winning yet!"

The rest of the team had already returned to the hideout when Tatsumi burst in with Mine still in his arms. "Help! She's alive, but barely!"

Leone and Akame helped him get Mine to her bed in her room. Najenda quickly set out for some medicine for Mine. Tatsumi looked on as the two older girls undressed the one he loved and wiped her full body down. They all knew it, she didn't have long.

Within the hour, Najenda returned with a painkiller and healing herbs from the nearest town. "Quick give these to her." The syringe forced the drug into Mine's system and within thirty minutes, her condition stabilized.

Najenda sighed and turned back to the door. "I'm going to get a doctor from the Revolution Army. I'll be back tomorrow. Tatsumi, she's in your care."

"Yes ma'am." Tatsumi pulled a chair to her bed and sat there. Both Akame and Leone left them be to get rest of their own. It had been a long day. Tatsumi stayed with Mine the entire night. "You're going to win. You're going to win."

The next days were spent helping Akame come to terms with her life now. Kurome had accepted her duel and both fought valiantly. The youngest sister had pulled out her puppets to fight including a fallen Run. All three were dispatched by Akame. Before the battle could be completely decided by Kurome taking another drug cookie, Wave had intervened. He snatched the drug infused cookie from Kurome's hand.

The young man pulled Kurome out of her blood lust with a kiss and told her that she didn't need to continue. She needed closure for her life and this wasn't the way to go about it. He confessed his own love for her claiming that the kiss she gave him as a ruse to incapacitate him had awoken these feelings that he couldn't ignore. He said that he loved her, and that he'd always protect her. When Akame asked him how, he answered by saying he would defect from the Empire and take Kurome to the hot springs to help her heal.

Kurome fought back at first. She struggled in his hold, but Wave clamped down. "I'll always be by your side."

Yatsufusa, Kurome's sword, fell to the ground and shattered. She was done for. Either she fought here and died, or took the option that Wave had given her.

In a surprising act stunning everyone, Kurome conceded and begged Wave to take her away from the Empire so she may recover. She had bid one last farewell to her sister before being taken away.

The three of Night Raid, Tatsumi, Akame, and Leone, that were there agreed to fake their deaths in order to keep them safe. Kurome was no longer as much of a threat now that her sword was broken and Wave was her protector.

They hadn't been seen since.

The plan went as scheduled despite Mine's condition and she was taken to an RA medical facility to the south. In the end of the war's final stage, Tatsumi, Leone, Akame, Najenda, and Wave defeated the Empire. Esdeath had lost her battle to Akame and perished as a result. After having received Kurome's permission to fight, Wave helped Tatsumi bring down the child emperor in his robot, he then went home. Leone suffered from 9 gunshot wounds to the abdomen after beating the Minister to death. She survived a short while due to her Lionelle state. In the end, the voluptuous blonde died on the street in the same place she met Tatsumi on his first day with a smile on her face. Najenda began to rework the nation with the RA leaders. Akame returned to the hideout.

As for Tatsumi, he almost died. He evolved Incursio beyond his capabilities and surpassed his limits to the point it was fatal. Somehow, fate allowed him to survive his injuries. He was soon recovering in the hideout, also in a comatose state. Incursio had placed him there to help him heal faster.

In the time since, Mine was returned to the base, but still hadn't woken up.

A few weeks passed and Akame was changing Mine's clothes to keep her clean when she noticed something, well, lack of something. Since she didn't know much on the subject despite her also dealing with it, she went to find Najenda.

She was sitting on the couch reading when Akame found her. "Boss."

"Yea? What's up?"

"Mine missed her period." She said it so nonchalantly that it was a bit embarrassing.

"Eh?" Najenda had an idea of what was happening with Mine, but it couldn't have happened, right?

"She's not bleeding on her interval. I used to know when it was, but she didn't have one."

Najenda looked at her squad leader. "Y-You memorized them?"

"Yes. Yours is in..."

"Okay that's enough. Take me to her."

The two women checked Mine's condition and found that she indeed had not had her monthly interval. Unless Akame just missed it or it hadn't happened yet, there was only one thing that caused this. "We need a doctor." Najenda placed her hand on Mine's head. "She's pregnant."

"Pregnant? What does that mean?" Since Akame was raised in the Empire's elite seven squad, she was never taught the more domestic things in life.

"It means she's going to have a baby." The boss wasn't too surprised at Akame's remarks. The fearless leader knew her subordinate's previous life and knew what she did and didn't learn in that time.

"How does that work?"

"I'm not explaining right now. We need to get her examined."

"Roger."

Najenda left to find the doctor that had helped treat Mine's wounds before. Akame went over to Tatsumi's room and proceeded to change his clothes too. As she did so, Tatsumi's body began to shift. First his leg wiggled, then his fingers.

The black haired assassin didn't think anything of it and moved to pull of this sleeping pants to change them. The cool air on his upper legs made him flinch even more. His body stirred eventually enough for Akame to look at his face. "Tatsumi?"

The boy in question reacted to his name and began to open his eyes. "Woah, what happened?"

Akame reached for a glass of water and helped him drink since his voice was hoarse. "We won. You won the war Tatsumi. It's over."

"It's... over." He looked up at the ceiling. Right as he was about to ask another question, Akame fell on him. "A-Akame?"

"I'm glad... I'm glad you're alright." The normally emotionless assassin began to cry on him. "You promised me you wouldn't die and you kept it. Thank you."

Tatsumi wrapped his arms around her and let her cry. "I'm alright, Akame. I'm not going anywhere. You saved me." What he was referring to was when she stabbed him with 'Murasame'. Normally, Akame's sword would kill on a single strike. However, since Tatsumi was not the target of her sword, he survived. The intent was to kill the demon that was taking him over, Tyrant, the demon inside Incursio. With her strike, she had killed the 'Tyrant' that was taking over her friend. As a result, he survived.

"I saved you." Akame began to calm down as her cries became hiccups. "Tatsumi, there's something you need to know."

"What is it?"

"It's about Mine."

"Is she alright?!" He was terrified that she'd slipped away while he was fighting or unconscious.

"She's still in a coma. But, she's pregnant."

Tatsumi stayed absolutely silent for a few minutes. He remembered that he and Mine had been very intimate after their mission against Wild Hunt and The Jaegers. Mine had been terrified that she was going to lose him and told him that she didn't want to have any regrets in life should she die and early death. She wanted to experience the act of physical love with him despite only being together for a month.

As expected, Tatsumi cowered under her advances and submitted to her seduction.

"So, this was the result of that. That should mean she's a little over three months along if I've been out a month as you say." Tatsumi smiled and rubbed Akame's head, something she'd grown fond of after Kurome left with Wave.

Akame then caught him up to speed on everything since the end. Leone was dead, Esdeath was dead, the Minister was dead, and the child Emperor was executed.

The death of Leone hit him hard. She was the one that had recruited him almost a year ago. Always playing jokes and messing with him about funny little things. He was going to miss her. "What about Kurome and Wave?"

"Kurome is staying home now, she's still recovering. My brother-in-law is a general in the new military."

"Brother-in-law." Tatsumi chuckled. "Yea, I could see him begging you to allow him to marry her. I guess I missed a lot." He rubbed her head again.

"He needed only ask once. I saw how she looks at him. It's the same way that Mine looks at you. Love or something like that."

"You don't really know love, do you Akame?"

"Only that which I remember from my sister before we were separated. As far as romantic love, no." She seemed to not really care about it so he didn't press it.

"Akame, can you take me to Mine?"

"Yes."

The two worked their way down the hall to Mine's room. Inside, Mine was still asleep. Now that they thought about it, her middle was a bit bigger. Akame helped Tatsumi to sit down in the chair and he leaned forward over her. "Mine, I'm back."

Nothing happened. Akame left the two alone and went to find something to eat. When she left, he moved himself closer and placed his lips on hers. "Hmmm, still tastes like strawberries."

Right as he pulled away, a sharp exhale came from the mouth below him. He watched her with wide eyes as her fingers flexed a little, then relaxed. Her cheeks flushed a bit as she slowly began to open her eyes.

Then, the most beautiful thing Tatsumi ever heard. "Well of course it tastes like strawberries idiot. It's the last thing I ate before coming to you." Mine tried to sit up, but Tatsumi stopped her and laid her back down.

"Take it easy. You've been asleep for a long time. You need to let your body get used to moving."

"I feel heavy."

"You've been in a coma for a month. I can't say much because I was too."

"You idiot. I thought you weren't going to get yourself killed." A tear slipped out of her eye as his hand held hers.

"I didn't. Incursio saved me. I'm actually part dragon now. Feels kind of strange." He looked back and prodded the two black slits on his back. From those slits, wings would come forth he was sure of it. "We both seem to have a guardian angel looking out for us."

"So, my husband is a dragon? Yea, I must still be asleep." Mine laid all the way back down and stared at the ceiling. "Tatsumi?"

He was going to question her 'husband' remark, but since he wanted it too, he wasn't going to complain. "Yea?"

"Why is my stomach so big? I feel so heavy in my middle."

"Well, sweetheart, that's because we're going to be parents." He kissed her forehead and followed her eyes down to her middle. "You're pregnant."

Mine looked at her stomach, then her lover. "I'm going to be a mom?"

"Yes, my strawberry, you're going to be a mom."

"Ok, take that sappy comment back, right now." Mine giggled a bit.

Tatsumi laughed as well and helped her drink. "Well, you're still my strawberry. You like pink, you can be sweet or sour, and you taste like it too." He pointed to his own lips. "What do you want to do? We have no need to be assassins anymore."

"I want to live with my husband and our baby." She sat up a bit and Tatsumi moved to support her back to keep her comfortable.

Someone else's voice came from the door. "With the reward you two get for helping us overthrow the Empire, you're more than covered." Najenda walked in and took the chair Tatsumi had been sitting on. "Nice for you both to be awake again."

"What do you mean reward?" Tatsumi asked from behind Mine.

"Exactly as I said. The new government wishes to not include assassins as part of the military tactics in the history books, but they are willing to issue you both a hefty reward for your parts in the war." The boss kicked back and took a swig out of one of Leone's sake bottles.

Mine looked at Tatsumi and smiled. "You hear that Tatsumi? We can live a comfortable life with our baby."

"Yea, we can. Hey, Boss. Do we have enough money to move into the city?"

"You do. Between the two of you, you have enough to acquire a mansion in the city with enough money left over to live comfortably for many years to come." Najenda smiled. She had worked very hard to get that deal for the two. That included forfeiting her part of the reward. Akame also volunteered to forfeit most of her reward to the couple with the rest going to her sister. "We can talk specifics later. Right now, a doctor has come to see you both. Are you staying here with Mine tonight Tatsumi?"

"That's right. I'm never leaving her again."

I'm proud of this little one-shot. This was an anime that made me cry and I wanted to offer some better endings than what we got. That's not saying it wasn't good, but I wanted to try my hand at it. As always I hope ye enjoy.

Update: There is more to come
