America and Russia did not like each other at all. That had made itself very clear, but the Earth needed them to get along. The United States and Russia were the two countries that were the most advanced in nuclear weapons. If they got into a war, it would likely destroy the world. For the first time in the history of the Earth, all the planet's monarchs had agreed on something. They had agreed that the two rival countries should come up with a solution to their hatred. The only idea both countries had supported was that there would be a marriage between one of the royal children from Russia and one of the royal children from America, and so it was that Grisha, Kuzma, Anastasia, Yelena, and Natalya found themselves packing for their trip to America. Czar Alian and Czarina Yekaterina would go with them and go back to Russia once their five children were in the possession of King Joseph and Queen Sarah.

Russia (assume they're speaking Russian)

Natalya's emerald green eyes scanned the shelves of her personal library. She had taught herself to read at the age of two and for her third birthday, her parents had given her the library. It was extremely large and it also acted as a study room for her. "Where is it?" she murmured. By 'it' she was referring to her favorite book, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Her taste in books surprised everyone. Among her favorites were Crime and Punishment, Life and Fate, A Hero of Our Time, and The Brothers Karamazov. For people who knew the young grand duchess, her tragic, old-fashioned taste was not very astounding, but to most, it was. Russia had come out of the era where it was not free. There were still Czars and Czarinas, and they still made decisions, but not alone. Modern Russian rulers had no shortage of advisors and the Royal Council voted on major decisions. The Romanov family was still the face of the Russian empire, but the ruling system worked more like a democracy, and the country was a lot freer. Natalya loved tragedies that spoke out against injustice mainly because they tended to be deeper than modern literature. Natalya scanned the 'T' section of her library and found the book on the bottom shelf. She pulled it out and ran her fingers over the

red leather cover. She added it to her suitcase of books. They were only going to be there for two months, but Natalya had Savant Syndrome and it enabled her to read two pages at once and read them exceedingly quickly. She zipped up her book suitcase and took it back to her room. Her suitcase of clothes was packed and ready. Her backpack was packed with her pet cat; Chusi's things. "That should be it." the grand duchess mused.

"Woah, Talya. How long are you planning on staying in America, a year?" an amused voice said from behind her.

Natalya spun around and saw her older brother Grisha leaning on her doorframe.

She rolled her eyes. "Very funny, Grisha." she said, "One suitcase is all I needed for clothes. The backpack's for Chusi's things, and the other suitcase is for my books."

Grisha eyed her book suitcase. He walked over to it and lifted it up. "Jesus, Tal, what are you bringing? The whole library?"

"No." She replied. "Just a lot of thick books. You know I read very quickly."

Grisha raised an eyebrow at her case. "Let me guess, Anna Karenina and A Hero of Our Time are in there."

Natalya gave her brother a funny look "Yes." she said. "Why?"

"Come on Nat, you've read those books so many times and you have them memorized, why do you need to bring them?"

"I already told you, they're my favorites. I like having them with me."

"If you say so, Tal." Grisha said. "Anyway, I came to tell you Mom and Dad said we're leaving in the morning, so get some rest."

"Okay, Grish. I will." Natalya replied. "Good night."

"Good night."

Natalya picked out a simple yet elegant purple mulberry silk gown with hanging sleeves, gold shoulder straps, and a green belt studded with yellow citrines. She also selected plain, purple silk slippers. Natalya looked at her collection of jeweled hair clips and grabbed a gold pin in the shape of five flowers in a row. The large flowers were made out of jade and the smaller ones were made out of polished green emeralds. The young princess also selected teardrop emerald earrings and a gold necklace with an oval emerald pendant. Her outfit wasn't overly fancy for a royal family, but she wanted to make an impression without it looking like she was trying too hard. "That should be good." Natalya unzipped her clothes suitcase and put her box of jeweled hair clips, a box of earrings, a box of necklaces, a box of rings, and a box of bracelets into it. After the preparations for her trip were made, the heir to the Russian throne slipped on a peach nightgown, slipped under her covers and went to sleep.
