Chapter 1: Comas

Tracie Anderson and Noah Puckerman were lying in hospital beds after being hit by a car. Noah was struck while trying to save Tracie. Quinn Fabray was sitting there feeling guilty because it was her car that hit them. Noah and Quinn had just broken up again before it happened. At the time, as Quinn stormed out, she didn't realize Tracie and Noah were following her.

Quinn tries to leave as Blaine and Kurt walk in, but Kurt blocks her way out and yells, "How could you be so careless? Tracie could die because of you!" Quinn yells back, "I said I was sorry, Kurt! I feel guilty enough as it is, seeing them lying in comas after turning down Puck's proposal!" Then she storms out in tears as Burt comes into the room.

Burt found Quinn standing in front of Katherine Elizabeth's grave crying an hour later. The moment Quinn sees Burt, she says, "Her diary was in that box of Finn's things Mrs. H gave Puck. I found it there before Tracie was born. Ha, I threw it at Puck's head the day we broke up, and he threw it back at me. Ha, he saw the K on it and thought it was Kurt's diary."

Then Quinn looks at Burt before saying, "Beth was the only child I ever had with Puck. I can't give Puck any more kids. Mr. H, did you know that Puck's dad got Kurt's mom pregnant? Her parents made her abort it because she was raped. Like Puck, Nick thought he was God's gift to women in high school, but Katherine wasn't impressed. Let's just say Nick wouldn't take no for an answer, and Katherine fell for a jerk who turned out to have a heart of gold after the abortion."

Burt looks at Katherine Elizabeth's grave as he says, "That was one of the reasons it took me forever to trust Puck, even after the whole Babygate. I'm just glad you chose to have Beth and didn't abort her. Don't tell Rachel this, but Tracy thinks Puck is Bruce Banner." Quinn tries to stifle her laughter as she says, "No, she believes he's the Hulk, and she didn't know they were the same person until she watched End Game at my house once. I think she was trying to help him chase me because she believes I'm Black Widow." Then Quinn breaks down again and storms off.

When Noah and Tracie were in a coma for three months. It was Blaine that noticed that if someone said Quinn's name. Noah and Tracie would either clench their fists or cry. Quinn would visit them, but it was while Kurt or Blaine was asleep, as they sat next to Tracie's bed. She stopped coming during the day because she couldn't face anyone. Rachel and Shelby noticed that Quinn blocked them on Facebook not long after that. Yet, she didn't block Beth and was sharing anything Beth posted. It wasn't until Beth started posting things about Tracie or Noah that she, too, was blocked.

Soon, Quinn deleted her Facebook account and was ignoring everyone's calls or texts. If anyone saw her at the hospital, they would try to talk to her. But she would just ignore them and keep walking. Santana and Burt would both drive by the cemetery and see her at Katherine Elizabeth's grave. But she would be gone by the time they parked their vehicles. Everyone would see her around town, but she would act like she didn't see them. Then one day, Kurt and Blaine saw a Sleeping Beauty book lying in a chair sitting between Noah and Tracie's bed. They could tell Quinn had to have left it there because of the tear stains on the pages. That night, Blaine stayed up, hoping to confront Quinn about her guilt.

Around midnight, Quinn walks in and sees Blaine awake with his arms crossed. Quinn tries to leave again, but Burt, who was in the bathroom, blocks her exit. Then Blaine says, "You have got to stop this, Quinn. We all have told you, this wasn't your fault, for months. How did you know Tracie would follow Puck? Kurt has even tried to apologize for yelling at you. Quinn, you can't ignore us forever."

Quinn looks at Tracie as she says, "You could lose Tracie, Blaine! How is this not my fault? Puck and Tracie are in comas because of me! If I had just said yes to Puck and never ran out! Your daughter wouldn't be lying in that bed right now, Blaine! Everybody keeps telling me it's not my fault and that I shouldn't feel guilty! But nobody else was in that car with me, and nobody else was hearing Tracie's screams at night! Blaine, I can't sleep for more than fifteen minutes at a time because I'm having nightmares about that day! I lost my job because I can't stay awake, and I've been living in my car for a month! Because I was still afraid to face anyone!" Soon a nurse comes in and Quinn storms out.

The next morning, Quinn wakes up in her car to the sound of someone tapping on her car window. Then she looks up to see Burt with a cup of coffee and a slice of toast. Quinn gets up and rolls down her window. Burt handed her the coffee and toast before saying, "So, I guess you thought that parking your car at my old shop was a good idea. By the way, Mick told me about it three weeks ago. But since, you have been avoiding everyone like the plague. I never got a chance to ask you about it."

Quinn unlocks her car as she eats her breakfast, and Burt gets in on the passenger side. Before Quinn says, "Mr. H, I know you felt guilty over losing Kurt's mom. So, don't sit there and lecture me on feeling guilty. Nothing you say will help me, so you might as well just leave and let me be." Burt waits until he is out of Quinn's car before saying, "I couldn't look at Kurt for a year after I lost his mom. Blaine forgave you, Quinn. Now, you have to forgive yourself."

Soon Burt was gone and Quinn was driving to the park, which she had been doing for the past month. When she sees Kurt sitting at a bench as soon as she puts her car in park. She just puts the car in reverse and drives to the school parking lot. She knew Santana and Brittany wouldn't be there until three. So, she had six hours to sit there and do whatever. Well, until she saw Mr. and Mrs. Shue walking towards her car.

Both of them were telling her what everyone else was saying. So, she just tunes them out and drives off. Somehow Quinn found herself at Dalton Academy, or what was left of it after the fire. As she sat there, flashes of the day she ran over Tracie and Noah flooded her mind again. Like they had been doing no matter where she was.

As she was thinking about that day for the millionth time since it happened. She heard someone tap on her window and saw Blaine staring back at her with a sorrowful look on his face. She just unlocks her car, and he goes to the passenger side before getting in. This time, she breaks down before he can say a word, and he just holds her until she falls asleep.

When she woke up, she found herself in a guestroom at Kurt's house. She also noticed she was in her nightclothes and wasn't smelling like Jacob Ben Israel. Then she heard Kurt say, "Santana had to help you shower and dress you. We both thought you would wake up once the hot water hit you. I guess, you were telling the truth when you said you haven't slept well since. Look, Quinn I do forgive you, but this doesn't change anything. The fact is, I don't want you here, knowing you are the reason Tracie is lying in a coma. I could blame God for this and not you. But God isn't the one haunting my dreams, Quinn! You are!" Before Kurt can say another word Burt and Santana come to drag Kurt out. Then Blaine comes in with Carole. They both hugged Quinn, but Carole couldn't look her in the eye.

As time went by, Quinn could tell that Blaine and Burt were the only ones that had forgiven her. This didn't help her at all, though, since she blamed herself just as much as the others did. It didn't matter how many times the others said they forgave her. She knew they were lying to her and started avoiding them when she could.
