A/N: I should work on Balance or Natural... This wouldn't leave me alone though. Enjoy!

A lone dark figure strode silently down the sleeping halls of the palace. Guards passed by, doing their rounds, completely unaware as she went passed them. The torches flickered, the only evidence of her presence as the shadows danced with the flames. Perfect partners, just as her sons should have been. She pulled her cloak tighter, thoughts of her younger son weighing heavily on her mind.

She uttered a quiet sleeping spell on the guards before opening the doors that lead to the dungeons. She descended the spiralling stairs much faster than usual, the need to see her son driving her.

The dim, orange glow of the barriers gave off the only light besides the dying torches. She shivered, the dreariness of the place seeping into her bones. It is a prison, what did you expect. It had been centuries since she had been down here. Last time, her daughter had tried to kill her.

Her gaze fell on each of the cells, taking in the fact that most of the prisoners were sleeping. Most. The one she sought was wide awake. Perhaps many would be fooled by the illusion of her son sleeping soundly, but a mother knows when her son is faking it. Still, she took in the sight of her son sleeping, however fake it may be. If only this could be reality. She lowered the barrier, stepping inside of the illusion.

Behind her, the barrier rose back up, locking her with her son. His back was to her and he was far from the healthy double laying on the bed.

Frigga let the hood of her cloak fall to her shoulders, waiting for Loki to acknowledge her. She knew he knew she knew she was there. He would never let his guard down.

"Have you nothing better to do than bother prisoners at such a late hour? Certainly you ought to be asleep. Perhaps you are, you would never associate with such a traitorous monster in the waking world."

"Loki enough, I am here." I am right here, if only you would let me in.

"And they call me the god of lies. You are not here. A projection, a fake, a lie. The truth is out, there is no need to visit a treasonous snake."

"May a mother not visit her son?" Now he turned to face her, scrutinizing her.

"With all that has been done, why do you continue the lie?"

"Am I not your mother?" Silence.

"I thought not."

"You're not."

"I'm not what? I am afraid you'll have to be more specific. If you are so certain that you are unloved, tell me I am not your mother. Push me away like everyone else in your life."

"I am the monster parents tell their children about at night. You are not my mother." A small chuckle escaped, because they both knew he was

lying. She stepped forward.

"Always so perceptive of everyone but yourself." She held out her hands, asking, begging for her son to come back to her. He shook his head minutely, both their eyes glistening with unshed tears. He dropped his hand into hers, expecting it to pass through the projection. It landed with a quiet slap. He withdrew his hand, backing away hastily. He summoned a dagger.

"You won't hurt me."

"I'm dangerous. You shouldn't be here." There was a crazed look in his eyes. Where is my son? It broke her heart to see him like this. What are you hiding? Why won't you let me in?

"Loki, darling please." His hands were clearly shaking as he turned the blade towards himself.

Her husband and elder son were walking back from the Bifrost. Her youngest was not with them. Where was Loki? Where was her son? Thor's gaze was empty and numb, as if trying to ignore a horrible memory. It wasn't supposed to be this way. They were supposed to celebrate Thor's return. With Loki. With her son. Where was her son? Where was her boy?!

She turned towards Odin, who looked even more tired than when he had gone into the Odinsleep. He looked like the man who banished his daughter to Hel. She didn't want to ask the question, but not knowing was constricting her chest.

"Where is Loki." Neither her husband nor her son answered her. She knew the answer, but couldn't face it.

"Where is my son?!" Odin stayed mute. She turned back to her son.

"Where is your brother? Where is Loki? Where is my boy?! Answer me!"

"Loki let go. He fell into the Void." Everything stuttered to a halt. Loki let go. He fell into the Void. Loki let go. No. No. That cannot be true. Loki let go. Loki let go. The floor hit her as her legs gave out under her. Loki let go. He fell into the Void. Into the Void. The Void. No. She couldn't breathe. Her son spoke again, grounding her.

"This is your fault. He let go because of you! We were hanging off the edge, he more than I. He begged you. What happened?! What did you do?!" Thor's voice had an edge of hysteria as he screamed at his father. Odin still did not answer.

"No Loki. Do you remember what you said to him? You said No Loki! You killed him! I killed him. I was so blind and naive and impulsive! I've paid haven't I. My brother is dead! The throne killed my brother. This family killed my brother. My brother is dead!" Odin finally spoke.

"Loki killed himself! It was not me, or you or the throne or this family. Loki killed himself."

"No! You're not blaming him! Not this time." She couldn't take it anymore. Her son was dead.

"Stop it! I don't know what happened, but I've already lost one son, I will have this family fighting anymore!" She stormed to her little boy's room and locked herself in for months. Her boy was dead.

"NO!" She would not lose him again. In a flash he plunged the blade into his chest under his ribs as she dove forward, gripping the hilt, withdrawing it carefully. She laid her hand over the wound, magic tingling through her body to her hand as she healed the wound. Green entwined with gold, keeping her boy alive. It was an hour an a half before the top layer of skin knit itself together. Loki had not said a word.

"Loki. Darling look at me." Her thoughts were racing nearly as fast as her hammering heart.

"I'm dangerous. You should leave. Save yourself."

"The only person you're dangerous to is yourself. You are my son. I will not leave you."

"I'm dangerous. I killed people. I lead the Chituari to Earth and I attacked Thor in that poor little town. I attacked Jotunheim. I'm a monster. I'm so sorry mother. I'm so sorry." She wrapped her arms around her son and pulled him close.

"Shh. It's alright my darling boy. It's alright." He was shaking and crying now.

"Odin said I'd never see you again."

"I'm going to have a long chat with your father." Either Loki did not hear, or he did not care that she said father.

"I'm so sorry. He made me. I had no choice. Do you know what it's like, to fall through nothingness? The stars are everywhere, yet so far away. And then they were gone. All there was was pain. I had to escape. He made me. He had the Mind stone-"

"Who had the Mind stone? Loki-" Just as abruptly as he had opened up, her son slammed the door in he face. She would get no more answers tonight.

"Shh. Just sleep." She cast a dreaming spell on him, ensuring a restful sleep.

"Just sleep my darling."

A/N: Okay, hopefully this wasn't emotionless. The closest things I have to children are my horses and I've never written from Frigga's POV, so hopefully it didn't suck. Let me know what you think.
