I'm alive!
Hello everyone. It's been a couple of years since I've updated, and it's mainly because, well, I never got around to it. Anyway, I'm back, and with a new story. It's the first time I've done this kind of thing, and as it's just the prologue, don't be too harsh in the comments. Dark, too dark. I can't see. Is this death? No. I can still… feel? There's something off. I can't move my arms or legs, or even my head. Am I paralysed? No, I can feel myself move. What on Earth am I?

I felt myself practically leap off the ground as a voice suddenly spoke to me.
'WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?!' I screeched, although I couldn't hear myself speak. Did that mean I was deaf or mute?
[Answer: You are both] The voice answered. [To answer your previous question, I am the result of the effect of your Ultimate Skill: Raphael, Lord of Wisdom]
'Ultimate Skill?' I wondered. 'What's an Ultimate Skill?'
[An Ultimate Skill is the highest form of Skill] The voice that called itself Raphael explained.
'And what's a Skill?' I asked… it? Her?. It sounded female, but I couldn't be sure.
[A Skill is a power which is granted to any creature with a soul by the Voice of the World, or by the use of another Skill. There are five methods which one can obtain Skills]
[The first is by birth or evolution, which normally applies to Monsters, who are born with Intrinsic Skills based on their race.]
[The second is by acknowledgment by the Words of the World, which requires you to attain if by doing certain feats, or by using the Skill without having it yet.]
[The third way is by stealing it from others, either by accessing the soul of an enemy by breaking the Spiritual and Astral bodies, or by using a Skill-theft specific Skill.]
[The fourth way is by granting duplicates of Skills, either by naming or via certain Skills, it's possible to you to share your Skills with others]
[The final way to gain a Skill is by combining and evolving Skills. By using certain Skills, or by taking advantage of the Harvest Festival, it is possible to evolve Skills into stronger ones]
[There are six types of Skills:]
[First are the Intrinsic Skills, otherwise known as Inherent Skills or Species Skills, which refers to the innate Skills that most Monsters possess. These Skills are normally the same for the entire race, but Unique Monsters can be exceptions, and higher evolution stages normally grant more Skills]
[Second are the Common Skills, which are Skills that any and all Monsters and some human-like species are capable of learning]
[Third are Extra Skills, which are Skills with power and efficiency that is magnitudes higher than those of Common Skills]
[Fourth are Unique Skills, which are Skills created from powerful wishes from the user, and highly powerful beings usually possess more than one. These Skills take the shape of the mind itself, so anyone with a weak ego are unable to create one]
[Fifth is the Ultimate Skill, which is a Skill which grants access to the ultimate principles of the world]
[Finally is the Resistance Skills, which are a passive Skill that protects the user from different types of phenomena, and are always active.]
'I didn't really need to hear a lecture, but thanks for the information.' I told Rafael. 'What kind of Skills do I have?'

If I had a face, my eyes would be bulging and my mouth would be gaping.
'What. The. FUDGENUGGETS!' I mentally shouted. 'I have three Ultimate Skills, one which makes me immune or resistant to pretty much EVERYTHING, an Intrinsic Skill that heals all damage, and I'm immune to pain?! What kind of guy made me?! It's like whoever made me built me to be a FINAL BOSS or something. And that's not getting into my OTHER powers!' I was almost anxious to ask what else I had.
[Answer:] Crud, it heard me. [You also possess two titles: Demon Lord and One who Rules Monsters]
'I'm a DEMON LORD?!' I shrieked. 'WHAT ON EARTH AM I?!'
[Answer: You are a Demon Slime]
'That was rhetorical!' I then mentally sighed. 'Being blind and deaf is getting kinda boring. Is there any way for me to see?'
[Answer: The Intrinsic Skill: Universal Sense will allow you to detect the Magicules and vibrations around you, thus allowing you a form of sight and hearing. Do you wish to activate Universal Sense? Y/N]
'Uh, duh. Of course I do!'
Suddenly, glowing points of light appeared around me, before the world around me came into view, along with the sounds of wildlife suddenly assaulting my hearing. Thankfully, it mentally hurt for only a moment before I got used to it. Kinda. I was currently in a forest. Just a normal, regular forest. Nothing special.
'A random forest.' I thought to myself. 'Eh, there are worse places to reincarnate. I kinda wonder what I look like. Hey, Raphael, can you change the perspective of Universal Sense so I can get a good look at myself?'
[Affirmative]
I felt a slight bit of disorientation as my perspective shifted so I was looking down at myself. The moment it finished, a terrifying shadowy mist appeared, seeming to emanate from my own body.
'WHAT THE HECK IS THAT!' I screamed, sweating bullets.
[Answer: That is your aura]
'My AURA?! That aura belongs on an EVIL GOD!'
[Notice: All wildlife within a fifty kilometre radius has successfully fled] Raphael 'helpfully' informed me.
'THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING! GET RID OF IT! GET RID OF IT!'
[Do you wish to supress your aura? Y/N]
'JUST DO IT!'
The moment I said that, the shadowy mist that was my aura was sucked into my body, disappearing completely. I breathed a mental sigh of relief as I looked at my new form. As expected, I was a small ball of light blue slime. I had no distinctive features, other than two wrinkles that seemed to resemble closed eyes.
'I look rather normal, for a slime.' I thought to myself. 'Although my new body looks kinda familiar. Where did I see this me before?'
[Answer: Your body is a complete replication of the individual known as Rimuru Tempest not long after his evolution to Demon Lord, with some alterations, as per your final request before you died] Raphael responded.
'Rimuru?' The name was familiar, and it took a second for me to remember who it was. 'You mean the main protagonist from That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime? That Rimuru?'
[Yes]
'No wonder I'm so ridiculously powerful. I've got the form and powers of the only Slime to practically become a god. And I'm already about halfway there.' I mused. Then something occurred to me. 'Wait a moment, I thought that to become a Demon Lord, I needed to consume the souls of at least 10,000 humans?'
[Answer: That is correct. In order to commence your evolution, the Words of the World retrieved the required souls needed to begin the Harvest Festival from a version of what you would call Hell]
'Gotta feel sorry for the guys who became my food.' I thought guiltily. 'Wait! Back up a bit, did you just confirm that Hell exists?'
[Yes]
'Does that mean Heaven does too?'
[Yes]
'Okay.' I thought, moving on. 'Raphael, please reorientate my Universal Sense back to it's original position.' My view of the world returned to normal as I considered what to ask next.
'Hey, Raphael, do I have a human form?'
[Answer: By using the Intrinsic Skill: Universal Mimic, you can assume the appearance of a human. However, it will be the default appearance that your new body provides. Do you wish to activate Mimic: Human? Y/N]
'Yes please.'
The moment I agreed, I felt my body stretch up, moulding itself into my human form. It was then over in an instant, and I felt a few new sensations, such as the feeling of grass under my new feet and a soft breeze passing by, along with the sound of rustling leaves reaching my new ears. I also felt a bit of weight pulling my new head back a bit, along with something soft trailing down my back. I realised that my eyes were closed, so I opened them for the first time, and was met with a crystal clear view of the forest in front of me. As I opened them, I felt my Universal Sense shift, with my sight now being focused on my new optical nerves. I turned my head, taking in the view of my surroundings, taking note of the fact that I've now got perfect vision, although my hearing was dulled slightly, mostly because I'm now feeling the vibrations with my eardrums rather than sensing it with my Slime body. Bit of a downside, but I must take the cons with the pros.
I raised my new arms, studying them and moved my fingers a bit, testing them out at the same time. They felt like normal arms, although they felt lighter than before, probably because under the skin was my slime. My new skin was pale, and my arms and hands were more slender than my original ones. I looked down at myself, seeing my body was similar. I wasn't wearing any clothes, as my new body doesn't naturally come with any, so I was naked, giving me a clear view of my new form. I seemed to possess a naturally athletic figure, though I wasn't toned.
I reached up and felt my face, noting that the features were more delicate. I then felt my hair, which was soft and long, trailing down to just above my hips, and the fringe ending above my eyebrows.
In another test, I opened my mouth to speak, only for no sound to escape. I frowned slightly, unsure as to why I couldn't speak. I searched my memories, before I remembered how Rimuru learned how to speak. In episode 2 of season 1, Rimuru got the Skill Ultrasonic Waves from a bat he ate, which allowed him to turn his thoughts into words.
'Hey, Raphael,' I said to the Skill, 'Do I have some version of Ultrasonic Waves?'
[Answer: The Intrinsic Skill: Ultrasonic Waves evolved into Sense Soundwaves, which was incorporated into Universal Sense]
'Can you teach me how to use Universal Sense to speak?' I asked.
[Answer: Yes. Do you wish me to teach you how to convert your thoughts into soundwaves? Y/N]
'Yep'
After Raphael gave me a quick rundown on how to use Universal Sense to speak, I opened my mouth and thought as hard as I could on my first word.
"HELLO!" The word all but exploded out of my mouth at top volume. I clapped my hands over my mouth, slightly embarrassed as the echoes faded. I then removed my hands from my mouth and tried again, thinking quieter this time.
"Hello?" The word came out at a whisper, barely audible. Deciding that it would be difficult to judge the volume of the voice if I just kept repeating the same word over and over, I let out a tone and started adjusting it, increasing and decreasing it until I was satisfied at the volume. During this, I noticed that my voice sounded a bit like a young child, though it was difficult to tell the gender.
"Testing, testing, 1 2 3, is the volume just right Raphael?" I asked my Skill.
[Answer: This test is pointless]
"Ah, never mind." I muttered. Of course she wouldn't understand the point of doing this.
[Hmph]
For some reason, it feels like I offended her. I looked around, looking for something to see my reflection with. However, there was no sign of a pond or river. Perhaps…
"Raphael, can I use Enhanced Replication to create an identical copy of me?" I asked her.
[Yes]
"Okay, one me clone coming up." I held my hand up in front of me. "Enhanced Body Double!"
Black smoke shot out of my hand and changed form, turning into a clone of me.
"Woah." I said, stepping up to it and taking a closer look. "Hello new me."
As I had guessed, my new body was feminine, as it was near identical to the one Rimuru had, which was a mimic of Shizue's. My hair was blue, much like the colour of my Slime form, and my eye colour was a golden yellow. It was also difficult to pin down what country my human form originated from, seeming to be a blend of English and Asian descent. The clone itself seemed more or less genderless, despite the feminine appearance, though it will still be easy for other people to mistake me as a sixteen-year-old girl, judging by the size and build of the clone. Finally, I reluctantly turned my eyes downward, and then sighed.
"Yep, genderless, just like my Slime form." I said sadly. "Not all that unexpected, though still disappointing all the same." I held my hand out. "Raphael, recall the Body Double." The clone turned to smoke and flowed back into my hand.
"Do I have any clothes? I don't want to be seen walking around in the nude, and I think that anyone to met me in my Slime form would attack me." Smoke appeared and some clothes was dropped onto the ground. I picked the stuff up and had a look at them. It was rather simple clothing, a cream shirt, black pants and socks, with underpants and a pair a brown boots. There was also a white mask with a red gem embedded at the center, along with a grey pattern on it, faintly resembling a face. I changed into the clothes and held up the mask.
"What's this?"
[Answer: The mask is called an Anti-Magic Mask. It possesses several enchantments which aids the wearer. The enchantments are Magic Resistance, Antidote, Breathing Support and Sensory Amplification]
"I can guess what Breathing Support and Sensory Amplification does, but what does Magic Resistance and Antidote do?"
[Answer: Magic Resistance dulls any magic attacks inflicted on you and hides your own Magicule signature. Antidote nullifies any form of poison that you come in contact with]
"So this mask can hide my aura without me needing to supress it?"
[Yes]
I placed the mask on my face. It fit perfectly, as if it were sculpted to my face. I couldn't see anything since the mask didn't have any eye holes, but I could feel the Sensory Amplification magic activating, and thanks to my Universal Sense, I didn't need eyes to 'see'.
"How's my aura levels?"
[Answer: The Anti-Magic Mask has successfully reduced the aura emitted to 0%. To other beings you would seem to be an ordinary human]
"Nice. I can blend in with the locals now." I said, smiling under the mask. "If there are any locals, of course. Which way to the nearest settlement, Raphael?"
[The nearest inhabited settlement is straight ahead, two days walk away] The Skill informed me.
"Guess I'd better get started then." I said, mostly to myself as I started walking. As I left the clearing, I failed to notice a black bird, a crow, sitting in a tree branch, watching me with interest.
