In my dream
I'm sitting in a meeting room. With 13 other armageddon knights. The nashi tribe. Is the home for the outcasts of the other tribes. They broke there clans rules or taboos. And casted out. But no matter what tribe you're from. The void of nothingness accepts all.
My dream transits to me easily despatching soldiers wearing dark armor with madness in their eyes wielding a katana which blade is made of ethereal energy. The ethereal blade.
It then transits. To me on my knees staring up at man wearing dark armor sword in hand ready to finish me off "your soul and power are mine." he said. Swinging the sword.
I woke up with a jump start. Sweating profusely. When my breathing calmed down. I got up and took a look around. I seem to be in the middle of some forest. How did I get here?
The only thing i can remember is my name. Mu tachinowarui. And that's about it. I walked through the forest. Hoping to find a village or someone who could lead me to one. And sure enough. I found someone. A village girl with black hair with a braided ponytail. She was picking flowers. I walked up behind her.
"Excuse me." i asked her.
She turned around. And I saw her amber eyes. She was a real beauty. I had to admit.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"My name is Mu tachinowarui" i replied. She then giggled.
"Mu? I take it you mistake the noise a cat makes for someone calling you" she laughed.
"Ha ha. Anyway, do you know where I am? And where i can find the nearest village?" i replied.
"Your in the morgana wood. Just go down that path and you should end up in aball." she replied.
"Thanks." i replied i began to walk away. Until i remembered something. I didn't get this cuties name
"Sorry. I forgot to ask. But what is your name?" i asked.
"My name is velvet crowe."
"Nice to meet you, velvet. Anyway. If you don't mind me asking. Why are you out here picking flowers?" I asked. Her face turned sad when I asked that.
"There for my family's graves. My mom and dad. My sister and her unborn child" she replied.
This poor girl. Most of her family is gone. An unborn child. Not even given a day of life before the darkness of death consumed them. It was really horrible to hear.
"Do you have anyone left?" I asked. She nodded. I was glad she had someone
"My little brother laphicet. And my step brother arthur." she replied. I started picking flowers with her.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Helping you. Not like I've gotten anything better to do." i replied
"Oh thanks. If you don't mind me asking. Where did you come from? Do you have a family of your own" she asked.
"I don't remember." i replied
"What do you mean you don't remember? How can you not remember your family?" she asked, sounding angry.
"All I remember is my name. Anything about my past is in a black void within my head" I replied.
"You have amnesia?" she asked.
"I guess so." I replied.
We finished picking flowers and headed off to aball. I looked at velvet. I got to admire her. She has lost so much. Yet she is still so full of life. That takes…incredible strength. To not give in to despair even when you have lost that much. It's admirable.
"Hey. what are you looking at?" she asked. Blushing a bit.
"Nothing." I replied. Looking down the path. We kept walking until we heard an inhuman growl.
"Please tell me that was one of our stomachs." I said to velvet.
"I wish I could," she replied. We looked behind us and saw 5 beasts that looked like werewolves.
"Demons! We have to run!" she yelled. That sounds like a good idea but i doubt these furballs will let us do that.
One charged at me. I dodged his claw easily. And then gray flame appeared in my hand. And soon it dissipated and in my hand was now a katana with a blade made of ethereal energy.
I over headed swing my sword. It went through the werewolf like a hot knife through butter. A massive spray of black blood came from it as it split in two.
The other four came at me. They didn't fare much better than their buddy. I decapitated the first one. Split the second one in half by the waist. Stabbed the fourth one in the heart. And broke the neck of the final by the roundhouse kicking it in the face.
"Damn beasts." I said with disdain as I unsummoned my sword. I looked over at velvet. Who was shocked.
"Are you an exorcist?" she asked.
"No. why?" i replied
"I thought only exorcists could kill demons." she said.
"Guess not. Anyway we should get to aball. It's getting dark." i replied as i looked up to see the sun going down.
"Oh shoot. You're right. Laphi must be getting hungry." she shouted.
"Laphi?" i asked
"My little brother. i'll introduce you. Now come on." she yelled as she ran towards aball
I followed after her. And we made it to aball. It was definitely a small but comfortable little hammel. A girl with red hair and pigtails came up to us.
"Velvet! There you are. where have you been?" the girl asked. She then looked at me. "And who's this handsome guy?" she asked. I was kinda flattered.
Velvet rolled her eyes at her calling me handsome. "I was picking flowers for my family's graves niko. This is mu tachinowarui. Mu this is niko" she replied.
"Nice to meet you." i replied.
"Hi mu. Glad to see velvet finally got a boyfriend." she said. Causing me to sweatdrop and velvet to blush.
"We-we-we're not like that!" velvet shouted. Seeing her stuttering was pretty damn cute. I'm not gonna lie.
"We just met in the forest today. Alongside some werewolves. But they were nowhere near as friendly" i replied. Niko then looked at me with wide eyes.
"You ran into demons!? Are you both alright!?" she yelled.
"We're fine." velvet replied.
"But demons this close to the village?" Niko asked. Obviously scared.
"Don't worry about them. They're dead." I replied. Then everyone looked at us.
"Dead? But how?" niko asked shocked.
"Uhh i killed them." I replied wondering why that was such a shocker.
"You killed the demons!?" niko shouted. Causing velvet to bonk her on the head obviously this was attracting unwanted attention.
"He killed the demons!?" one villager asked.
"Is he an exorcist!?" another shouted.
"Alright. We finally got another exorcist besides arthur!" yet another villager shouted.
"Wow velvet. Your lucky to have an exorcist for a boyfriend." niko teased.
"He's not my boyfriend!" velvet yelled.
"Also i'm not an exorcist." i said. Everyone then stared at me.
"Why do you all think I'm an exorcist? I killed some demons. That's it. Demons can bleed. And anything that bleeds sure as hell can die. Yet everyone acts like i did the impossible. What's the deal?" I asked. Being really confused about why everyone was so damn shocked that I managed to kill those demons.
"Whats going on here?" an old and rough voice said. We all turned to see a man with white hair in a ponytail with his arm wrapped in a sling. Must be broken. And beside him was a redheaded woman wearing a mask.
"Oh arthur." velvet said.
"This young man says he not an exorcist. But he has killed demons" an villager told him. Arthur raised an eyebrow. The red headed woman gasped.
"Impossible. Only an exorcist can defeat demons" arthur said. Like it was a matter of fact.
"Apparently not. Considering i killed five of them. It doesn't matter what it is. If it bleeds. You can kill it. Simple as that" i replied
"It is not that simple" he said. Clearly getting annoyed with me.
"Then tell me why is it that only an exorcist can defeat demons. Because i'm not seeing it. they died easily enough for me." i asked i really wanted to know why everyone was so shocked that i killed the demons. But then i saw niko looking at the roof of the shop scared.
"Demon!" she shouted. I looked up to the roof and saw another werewolf looking down at me. It jumped off the roof. I jumped up and summoned my ethereal blade. Slicing the werewolf in two. It disappeared into black smoke. I landed behind arthur.
"Proof enough for you?" I asked.
"...you are interesting." he said.
"...by the way. Who's the redhead next to you?" I asked him. And he raised an eyebrow. Velvet looked at me wide eyed. The redhead gasped in surprise.
"You…you can see me?" the redhead asked.
"Uhh yeah..your standing right there." i replied. Why was she so shocked that I could see her? Arthur then laughed.
"You are very interesting young man. I can definitely see why people mistook you for an exorcist. I would have confused you for one myself considering you have the abilities of one. What is your name?" arthur asked.
"Mu tachinowarui" i replied.
"Very well. Mu. Thank you for protecting velvet." he said.
"It was no problem. I do what's right. And nothing more." I replied. Arthur smiled. He then walked away.
"Do you have a place to stay Mu?" velvet asked.
"No." i replied
"Why not stay with us? At least until you remember where you came from." she told me.
I looked at her with an eyebrow raised "awfully kind to a stranger aren't you?"
"You got a problem with that?" she asked.
"No. Thanks for allowing me a place to stay." i said
"Your welcome. It's the least I could do. Since you saved me from those demons." she said with a smile and a blush. It was really cute.
Me her and Arthur went to their house. It was a nice place. I noticed the four gravestones. I know who those are for. I saw velvet putting the flowers on the graves.
"I assume velvet told you who those are for?" arthur asked me
I nodded "yeah her mother and father sister and her unborn child…it's truly sad. For her and her brother to lose the people that are supposed to love them and lead them to a bright future. Its especially about her sister and her child…not even a day of life before the darkness of death took their life. It truly is sad." i said
"...do you know who the father of that child was?" he asked with pain in his voice.
"I do now. I can tell from the pain in your voice. That it was yours. You lost the woman you loved. And your child….i admire you and velvet." I said as he and velvet looked at me in surprise. "You both lost so much. And yet here you are. Continuing to move forward. Instead of wallowing in despair…that takes….incredible strength." I said. Velvet blushed. Arthur just looked indifferent.
"Velvet. Could you go inside and make dinner? I'd like to talk to mu in private." arthur said as velvet went inside. Arthur then drew his sword and pointed at me
"What the hell are you doing!?" i asked alarmed.
"I wished to test your strength and skill with a blade. If you will grant me that honor."
I thought about it for a second. I then summoned my sword "sure. Let's dance. Exorcist."
He smiled then jumped and swung down at me. I jumped out the way he then swung at me with his sword at me twice. The first one I dodged the second one I front flipped from. We then clashed swords then he tried to get past my guard. But that gave me the opportunity to roundhouse kick him in the back, knocking him to the ground. I then ran up to him. And put my sword to his neck.
"Looks like I win." i said
"What the hell are you doing!?" velvet yelled as she came outside alongside a boy with blonde hair. He looked weak. Must be sick.
"Just some sparring velvet. No need to get worried." i replied. But then arthur knocked my sword out of my hand. I back flipped away before arthur could do anything else.
"Never let your guard down. even when victorious" arthur said. As he got up pointing his sword at me.
"I'll be sure to remember that." I said as I summoned my sword back to my hand. "So round 2 then?" i said.
But then velvet got in between us. "No! no round 2! Both of you get inside. Now!" she yelled.
"Well you heard mom arthur. No more rough housing." I said velvet glared at me. Arthur smirked. The blonde boy laughed. But then coughed. Velvet helped him back inside.
After my duel with arthur we all had dinner. Prickleboar stew. It was pretty damn good.
"So what do you think of the stew mu?" velvet asked.
"It's delicious. Your one hell of a cook, velvet" I said with a smile. Velvet looked at me shock "what?" I asked.
"This is the first time i've seen you smile or have a face besides a dead stare." she replied.
"Seriously? I need to work on my expression" I replied with a blush on my face. I noticed the blonde boy staring at me. "What's up kid?"
"I'm not a kid. My name is laphicet" he said.
"Nice to meet you laphicet. I'm mu tachinowarui" i replied.
"Is it true you defeated 5 demons to protect velvet?" laphicet asked.
"Yep. those puppies weren't much of a challenge." i replied.
Velvet rolled her eyes at my cockiness. But laphicet was looking at me with stars in his eyes.
"Who won the duel?" laphicet asked.
"Well considering arthur was on the ground with my sword to his neck…i'd say i did" i replied.
"You are…REALLY COOL!" laphicet shouted. Stars in his eyes.
Velvet giggled "looks like you have a fan mu." she said.
I smirked "when you get better laphicet. I'll make you my apprentice. How does that sound." i said.
"That would be awesome!" he yelled.
Both me and velvet laughed. Arthur just smirked and went to bed. After dinner. I decided to visit celicas grave. Judging from what velvet and arthur told me she was a kind woman. Who didn't deserve this. Good people ripped to pieces by demons.
"Hey celica. My name is mu tachinowarui. I'm your sisters new friend….what an unfair fate… you were a kind woman….and you we're unfairly cut down….i'm going to make a vow…i will protect velvet and laphicet with my life…velvet…she's lost so much. her mom and dad….you…but despite that she is still so full of life…instead of falling into despair…it takes incredible strength….not just that. She's a great cook. Incredibly beautiful. And incredibly kind. I will protect her. And that precious smile of hers…it's funny i've only met laphicet today. And it feels like I adopted him as my little brother. He looks up to me…I quickly became his hero. And i will not disappoint him. I will protect him…that's what a hero is supposed to do right?" i said then i yawned "tired. Going to bed now." i walked back to the house. I looked back at the grave. "I promise i will protect them. Even if it cost me my life. Rest in piece. Celica." i said as i head to bed.
"..." velvet blushed with tears in her eyes. As she heard everything mu said. His vow. his promise. She smiled "i'm glad i met you…mu" she whispered. As she too went to bed.
