CLOVER'S POKEMON ADVENTURE

OT: Clover
Age: 10
Occupation: Pokemon trainer
Motto: I WANT TO BECOME A BULBASAUR ONE DAY

Two years ago

The night was murky and glum, but two kids have nevertheless found their way to the ramshackle barn, far from the town of Pallet. The place was abandoned for a while so naturally, this meant it concealed well-kept secrets. Two eight year olds have also been driven by the promise of meeting a Pokemon that, ostensibly, lived there. Naturally, kids didn't get their Pokemon until they were ten, thus they were strictly forbidden from leaving the town in the first place. However, who can stop a curious child?

"Hey, Clover, look! It's there!" Gary Oak, young boy from Pallet Town, exclaimed with surprise and glee."You're right, Oak! It's really there!" Clover uttered.
"Finally! A chance to catch the mysterious Pokemon!"
Clover looked at him with a bit of the surprise.
"Where did you get the Pokeball?" she was suspicious.
"It's a secret. Does it matter? I have one for you, if there's more than one Pokemon. But first Pokemon we see is mine!"
"You're so mean! I want it!"
"A loser like you could never train the Pokemon! I am son of the famous Samuel Oak! I will be the best Pokemon trainer, not you!"
"You're not the best Pokemon trainer! You're just a big-headed mean eggplant!"
"Look who's talking!"
"That's it! You're getting it now!" Clover jumped, ready to punch him before they were both stopped by the sound coming from the barn.
"Is that the Pokemon?" Gary asked.
"Could be! Let's go and see for ourselves!"
Gary and Clover sneaked towards the big barn door, looking for a way in. Luck was on their side tonight. One of the windows to the barn was opened, and bales of hay were neatly stacked just below it, forming a makeshift staircase. They climbed to the window. That's when they realized the sound belonged to the tiny Pokemon sleeping on the haystack in the corner.
"What's that Pokemon?" Clover asked.
"That's Bulbasaur! I saw one just few days ago. Gramps breeds them."
"Could be it belongs to him." she stated.
"Doubt it. Gramps never lets his Pokemon wander around. Anyway, let's go in and try to catch it!"
Just before sneaking in, they've heard somebodies voice in the distance.
"Gary, there's somebody there! Let's close the window behind us! They'll get suspicious if they see it open!"
"Good plan, Clo."
They carefully approached the place where the Bulbasaur slept. Gary took a Pokeball, hurling it at the Pokemon. Atmosphere in the room became rather tense, as they stared at the Pokeball rocking here and there. Just as they started celebrating, Pokeball cracked open and Bulbasaur burst out.
"Shit." Gary uttered, taking a step backwards. Bulbasaur was awake, terribly angry for being awoken from its rest.
"Gary, let's bail it! Now!"
"Wait! I can subdue it!"
"Without a Pokemon?! Don't be a bonehead! It will injure you, or worse!"
"We can't leave it!"
"Go!"
They started climbing back to the window, but to their dismay, it couldn't be raised any longer. The Bulbasaur was as angry as a dragon. Before they had a chance to find another way out it grabbed Gary with its wines and flung him across the room.

"Gary!" she screamed.
"Bulbasaur!" the Pokemon yelled out, grasping her with another vine. She had been in the air for a split second before it flung her against the wall, knocking the air from her lungs.
"Stop! Please, Bulbasaur! We did not mean to harm you!" Clover said. However, angry Pokemon did not listen. It rushed to Gary who barely got on his feet, headbutting him with such force he vomited.
"Gary! Give me another ball, now!" Clover yelled to her frightened friend.
"You… can't have it..." he uttered.
"ARE YOU AN IDIOT?! GIVE ME THAT BALL!" she was absolutely furious by this point. She practically tore the ball from his waist, flinging it at the Pokemon who was preparing for another attack. However, the Bulbasaur was ready. He knocked the ball with the vine, shattering one of the oil lamps at the wall. Somebody regularly maintained the flames and it was still burning, much to their dismay. As the lamp shattered, oil caught on the fire and soon, whole column was blazing.
"Oh, shit..." Clover uttered. Gary noticed the fire and ran to the door, desperately trying to raise the bar.
"It won't budge! It won't freaking budge!" he screamed as the tears welled in his eyes.
"We'll burn alive!" she screamed.
Bulbasaur wasn't getting less angry. Atop of its rage, now it was frightened of the fire and it screamed, sending a barrage of knife-sharp leaves.
"Bulbasaur, we need your help! Please, stop attacking us! We will all die if we stay here! I beg of you!" Clover cried. Seemingly her plea was earnest enough to give Bulbasaur a pause, or it simply realized the truth in her words. A tiny bulb Pokemon headbutted the door with the strongest force it could muster, but it did not break. The wood was harder than they anticipated.
"Tell it to climb to the attic! The window there is opened, I saw it!" Gary ordered.
"Bulbasaur, use your vines to climb up there! Then you can take us out!"
Bulbasaur looked at them for a split second before it grabbed onto the open hatch of the attic and disappeared there.
"Now, grab us with vines and take us out!"
But there was no answer. No vines came out of the attic, and they slowly realized the Bulbasaur abandoned ship. By this point, fire already spread to the ceiling and the floor. Bales of hay have burst in flames and the fire was rapidly spreading, filling the place with a thick, white smoke.
"I can't breathe..." Clover uttered.
"We have to find the way out! We got to!"
"Let's try to open the window!"
"We tried but it couldn't budge, remember?"
"Well,try again!"

They clambered up towards the window, but much to their chagrin, the window wouldn't budge after all. To make matters worse, their fingers were sweaty from panic and fear, and even if they could they wouldn't be able to raise it again. Taking a rock, Gary tried breaking the window but couldn't even fit his leg through.
"Frame is too narrow! We won't be able to get out! Help! Somebody help us!"
Gary screamed, but the help was not getting there. As they screamed, one of the planks holding the ceiling broke down. Everything else happened in a flash. The ceiling broke down, adjacent wall got loose and fell down with a crack. A gust of fresh air entered the room, but the plank holding the ceiling fell right atop of them as they ran.
"Gary! Gary, oh my God help me, I'm dying!" Clover screamed. One of her legs was trapped under the burning plank.
"I won't abandon you here! Come… stupid… log..." he screamed, trying to raise the plank but he was too weak.
"Quickly! Go and get your grandpa or anyone! Run!"
"But you will-"
"Just go!"

Minutes passed like hours as she laid down trapped under the plank. Smoke gushed out of the barn through the opening in the wall, yet it wasn't enough to help. She was faint from the lack of oxygen, barely able to breathe and the consuming fire advanced ever near.
"Anyone… please help me… help!" she was bawling her eyes out, hoping someone will come before Gary and deliver her from the predicament.
In every respect all the hope was lost, but then she saw a small form coming out of the smoke.
"Bulba… saur..." it uttered, looking at her.
"You! It's all your fault!" she screamed.
"Bulbasaur… Bulba, bulbasaur!" it sounded regretful.
"What do you want now?! Gloat!? Go away!"
Bulbasaur did not listen to her. It walked through the fire and screamed in pain, getting engulfed in flames that have already surrounded her. It used the vines to firmly grab the plank, heaving it up.
"You're… helping me?" she uttered.
"Bulba! Bulbasaur!" it uttered, staring at the ring of fire. Clover knew she had no time to lose. She pulled her body out under the plank. By now, the ring of fire was getting narrow. Seeing there's no way to escape, Bulbasaur gathered its remaining strength to heave her and put her out of the harms way, out in the open. However, now it was trapped.
"Bulbasaur!" she yelled.
Bulbasaur urged her to go away in its own language.
"I won't abandon you! I have to save you!"
With anxiety, Clover realized she couldn't stand on her leg. Looking down, a horrid realization struck her: what was left there was a charred bone. So, this is why she felt no pain. Clover shrieked in dismay as another plank fell right between them and that's when it became obvious she wouldn't be capable to save it in time. She was about to start panicking when the professor rushed to the rescue along with several townspeople, carrying fire extinguishers. As the people fought the fire, professor rushed to them.
"Gary, Connor, take her back to my lab! One of my aides will help her! She needs to get to the hospital for the treatment! I will assist the others!"
"Professor, there's Bulbasaur trapped in there! Please, help it!" Clover uttered.
"We'll do it! Now go!"
Gary and one of the townspeople, Connor, brought her back to the lab. To this day, Clover barely recalls what happened later. She was slipping in and out of conscious as the adrenaline subsided and pain kicked in. When she woke up later in the hospital, she found out she recovered her health. But she lost something else she will never be able to recover.
