"When one life meets another, something will be born!"
Eyes shot open, escaping from the pitch black darkness. All around him was red lightning and floating debris.
Eddie Munson shot up, a faint green glow leaving his body as he sat upright, breathing heavily up and down.
"Wha….where am I….wait…" he mumbled out.
He remembered it faintly, demobats attacking him from all sights and corners, laying there in Dustin's arms, before everything became dark…dark and quiet.
The dark and eerie quietness, the sweet embrace of death.
"Wait…I was"
Eddie touched himself all over, pinching himself to see if he was dreaming! Or if he was still even there to begin with. But soon it became quite clear, he was wide awake, awake and alive. Was his mind playing tricks on him? How could he have survived those injuries? Everything was still so clear to him…
He was supposed to be dead.
Was this the afterlife? He looked around him? The sky was as red as it had ever been with lightning strikes going all around him. He didn't know where he was exactly, just that the place seemed…familiar.
The Creel House.
Finally Eddie stood up and observed the scene around him, he was in fact in the Creel House, the place Vecna a.k.a. Henry a.k.a. One appeared to live. But Eddie felt no presence anywhere around him, he was there all alone in the middle, looking around and giving his eyes a seemingly eternal glance around the place.
He could breathe, he could see. He wasn't dead.
But how? He should have been, how could he suddenly be here again.
His eyes suddenly stopped, around one of the pillars, a sight that horrified him more then the first time he saw it happen for real. There she was…tight up into vines around the stone pillar, her eyes white and completely lifeless and hollow.
"Oh my god….no Chrissy" Eddie mumbled.
Slowly he took steps towards her. There she just hang, a tribute to Vecna's victory and a reminder of his failure and cowardice in that he failed to save her from her fate.
"I'm sorry Chrissy….I'm so sorry…" Eddie replied despondently as he leaned against the pillar holding Chrissy, lamenting over his failure. Chrissy was an innocent girl, so young and so bright and she had called out to him in a moment of need and desperation. And when she needed to be saved he ran away.
He hoped that in trying to save Dustin he had made everything better. But standing here…in this moment, having seemingly escaped death against all odds. What did it all even mean anymore?
A bright light soon illuminated that question.
Green circles of light circled around Chrissy's corpse and knocked Eddie backwards, away from her. The green circles swirled around Chrissy, her skin returned to its natural tone, her eyes colored from white to her normal blue ones. The vines dissipated around her and she fell to the ground. Breathing heavily.
Breathing….
Eddie couldn't believe what he saw in front of him, the green circles vanished and there Chrissy was on the ground, breathing heavily, slowly trying to get up.
Alive…
Alive again…just like him.
"Chrissy!" Eddie ran towards her and knelt down to meet her face to face, the former queen of Hawkins High met his gaze with nothing short of a completely surprised reaction.
"Eddie! What's going on…where am I?"
Eddie knew where they were. It was obvious as could be that they where still in the Upside Down, the place both of them seemed to have gone to die. Yet there they stood, alive against all odds and seemingly against all laws of nature.
"It's okay Chrissy…I'm here now, we'll get out of this…it's a long story" Eddie said.
Chrissy flung forward, wrapping her arms instantly around Eddie as she began to sob "I was so scared…he came after me…I heard all these voices, everything hurt and then….then there was only…"
"A quiet darkness" Eddie whispered as he embraced Chrissy back.
Chrissy sobbed into Eddie's shoulder. She didn't know what was going on anymore, it felt as if she had been woken up from a terrible nightmare, only to find herself in a place that was as close to Hell as was possible.
"Where are we Eddie?" Chrissy mumbled.
"It's a long story Chrissy, let's just…let's get out of here?"
But how would they do that? Getting back to the gate was that even still possible? Was it even still there? Eddie worried that he had no way of finding back.
"Eddie…look?" Chrissy said.
The pair released each other and both turned around to see a swirling blue circle open right in front of them. In it was an image, a lush green field full of flowers appearing on the other end of it.
"What's that?" Chrissy wondered.
Could it be? Eddie wondered if it was another gateway, but it looked different then before. Was it a trap? An illusion? Was it truly safer over there then in here? In the hole of the beast.
"I don't know but we gotta take a chance!" Eddie said standing up, extending his hand to Chrissy. She looked uncertain and confused and she said "Eddie I don't even know what's going on!"
"I don't know either but you have to trust me!" Eddie said, looking between her and the suddenly opened gateway. Chrissy reached out her hand and grabbed Eddie's, who helped her up. Both standing there for a good second just looking at each other silently.
Before they nodded to each other and both ran towards the portal full speed ahead before they jumped in together.
As he watched the pair disappear through the portal, Vecna scowled and sighed from a distance, holding his burned arm. The injuries those three had inflicted had taken their toll, it couldn't kill him but it would still sting. And now he saw the other two, including one of his victims disappear through a glowing blue portal which soon after disappeared.
A shadow appeared behind Vecna, placing a big purple hand on his shoulder.
"You've done well Henry, so very well," the deep voice spoke "I understand letting those two go may not make much sense at the moment, but I assure those two will be vital to our goals."
Vecna's scowl never left his face, but his sigh as the hand released his shoulder was audible and quite clear.
"With all due respect my Lord Titan, I have never doubted your judgement…"
"Then I suggest you don't start doing it now," the shadowy figure behind him commanded "it may not seem like it now. But those two are something special, the stones have shown me as such. Their potential for something great is radiating off them, and it may lead to the thing we have been searching for, for so long."
Vecna tried to fight back his desire to speak back in disagreement. The brat and the coward? Leading them to the one artifact that had alluded them all is this time. The idea sounded ridiculous.
"In the meantime you must keep a close eye on them, and you will report any progress to me immediately," the voice commanded with a soft yet clear tone "this mission cannot fail Henry, we are counting on you to act if necessary."
To this Vecna smiled a sly grin as he looked towards the place the portal had been. Observing the place where his prey had escaped him. And with words of resolution he spoke.
"Your will be done, my Lord Titan."
A/N: This random idea came to me by a friend who really ships Eddie/Chrissy so I decided why not turn into a story and make it a part of my whole Multiverse connected stories. For those who haven't read my previous stories set in the RWBY fandom like "This is my World" that is alright, this story will mostly stand on its own, you don't have to read the other stories but if you want some more context it will help, and if you decide not to read it, hope the mystery around here still is interesting enough. So let me know what you guys think and hopefully I will soon continue this.
