Liv goes to the interrogation room and breaks down in tears. After her shift, she heads home and pulls out her memory box.

Looking back over the years

Of all the things I've always meant to say

But the words didn't come easily

She grabs her cell phone and pulls up her messages. 'El, call me…text me..something. Please. Cragen told me' She sees the three dots pop up and then disappear a few times.

So many times through empty fears of all the nights

I tried to pick up the phone so scared of who might be answering

She starts to dial their house line..what if Kathy picks up? She backs out of the call. She grabs her keys and heads to their diner.

You try to live your life from day to day

But seeing you across the room tonight

After a bit, the bell over the door rings as it opens. Olivia looks up and sees him. Tears fill her eyes. "Liv,I…" "why? Why El?"

He looks at her. "You deserve a better partner."

"How long? A week? A month? A year?"

Elliot shrugs. "I'm not sure."

Olivia looks at him and whispers. "You're the longest relationship I had with a man…"

He knows in his heart that she will be ok eventually. Her heart will be broken for a long time..she'll find someone to heal it… or will a bit always be open for him? He hugs her one last time. "Bye Liv." He walks out of the diner and her life.

A few months after the diner,she gets a package delivered with a note. 'Semper Fi. El' Liv carefully opens the box to find his Semper Fi medallion and his miniature badge. She looks up, going against all hopes that he was the one to put the box there. She puts the medallion on her necklace and the badge on the base of her gun. 'Thanks El..' she thinks to herself.
