At the start, there was nothing. Not a sound, not even a light.
It was just pure darkness. It dragged on for what would feel like an eternity, but slowly, memories would start to form.
An image of someone holding what looked like a tablet, their face paling up as they dropped it to the ground in horror.
The same man standing in court, seemingly defending someone.
And finally, the same man extending a hand to shake someone else's.
And then once again, there was nothing. Except for the sound of water dripping.
.
.
.
And then, that's when he awoke.
The boy stumbled out of his chair, falling onto his back, groaning in pain as he did so. His eyes slowly fluttered open, staring at the cold blue ceiling. "Where…" He mumbled to himself as he slowly got up. He felt somewhat disoriented from everything. He had been sleeping for what felt like forever, after all. His hand was clutched to his head, trying to stop whatever pain he felt. When he realized that it wouldn't work, he pulled his hand away. He checked his hand, on the off chance that he was bleeding, but he wasn't.
"God…" Taking a few steps back, he looked around at his surroundings. The room he was in was rather barren, and had a cold blue colour to it all. The walls all seemed to be made of some sort of metal, and he could see bolts in the wall. He placed his hand on the wall, and sure enough, it was rather cold. "This isn't…" He started to say, but realized there probably wasn't any reason to finish that sentence. He turned around, looking for any sort of way out. There was a door in the corner of the room, away from where he had been facing the entire time.
He rolled his eyes, walking over to it. "Yeah, right. Sure, like that's going to be-" He didn't get to finish his sentence as the door just opened right for him. He was paused, a little annoyed that he was proven wrong.
He took a deep breath before walking outside the room. "Hello?" He called out, looking around.
Outside the room appeared to be a long hallway, stretching to both ends. There were a few doors on it, but that wasn't what was interesting to him. The fact that no one was here was the peculiar part. "Well, if I was kidnapped, why isn't anyone guarding me…" He tried to reason with himself on why he was here.
He paused upon seeing something mounted on the wall, he approached it to notice that it was a mirror. He didn't really need to look at himself, but it was the best way to make sure his face was fine. He had short light brown messy hair. He made an annoyed sigh as he tried to fix it so it wasn't as messy. His eyes seemed to be an orange colour of sorts. Although it was also leaning towards the brown side of things. He had a rather slender figure, and he was wearing a suit. He had a small badge on the right side of his shirt, right over his pocket. For his height, he was about 5'9".
After he was done fixing his hair, he moved over to fix his suit. He tucked his brown suit into his black pants. And then, he tried to dust himself up. Finally, he moved over to the black tie he had, and tried to fix that too. That's when he noticed something. He could see a reflection of a person in the mirror, leaning on the wall on the other wall of the hallway.
The man quickly whipped around to get in a defensive position. "Who are you?"
The man who was leaning against the wall had his hands in his pockets, and he slowly looked up to meet his glance. This man had black hair, and blue eyes. He had a sleek figure to him. Was about 5'8", and he also appeared to be wearing a suit of sorts. Although his suit was in a much worse condition. His was mostly a dull grey throughout the entire thing, except the nice black shoes, which seem to be the only thing he kept good care of. His eyes drifted down the brown haired boy's pockets. "What? Are you here to arrest me?" He glanced back up.
The brown haired glanced down at his pocket, and he would see some handcuffs sticking out. He pulled them out and glanced back at the black haired boy. "Did you do anything illegal?"
He pushed himself off the wall with his foot. "Nothing that can be proven." He smirked slightly, before looking back at him. "Well, I don't think you're the reason I'm stuck here, and based on appearance alone, I think I can trust you." He extended his arm. "The name is Connor Enantios."
The brown haired boy would stare at his hand for a few seconds. He didn't really have a reason to deny shaking it. He took his hand and gave it a firm handshake. "You can call me Lawrence Recht." He paused for a few seconds, debating on just how much information he should give. "Well, there's no point in hiding this from you, but I'm also the Ultimate Lawyer."
Connor slowly blinked a few times. "An Ultimate? Ah man, never met one of those before." It was hard to tell if he was lying or not. "But had I known you were one, I would have guessed something along those lines." He ran his hand through his hair, thinking a bit more. "Say, what kind of lawyer? Like a defense attorney, or a prosecutor?"
Lawrence clenched his fist, glancing the other way. "That doesn't really matter, does it? Besides, we have more pressing matters. Like where we are." He looked around the hallway, his attention turning to a puddle, with water dripping into it every so often. "This place doesn't seem well kept."
"This place seems like a prison." Connor countered.
Lawrence looked around the hallway, taking in another look. "You know, now that you mention it. It kinda does…" He started walking further down the hallway. "Have you seen anyone? It would be best to see who else is here."
He ran his hand through his hair, shaking his head. "Wish I could help you, but I have no clue. I just saw you staring at the mirror, and decided to wait till you were done prepping for your date."
The lawyer let out a small laugh at hearing that. "Alright, if that's how you want to put it…" He stopped in front of a door, looking at it for a few seconds. He could hear some noise from inside, which kinda sounded like a machine. "Think something is in here?"
"I don't know, you're the smart man, aren't you?" Connor had a smirk on his face. "Deduce it for yourself."
Well, he wasn't going to deduce anything, and simply opened the door.
Upon entering, the source of the noise would immediately become known. There appeared to be a large generator powering something. Well, it was probably powering the building they were in, but.
The next thing of note was a girl looking up at the generator, slightly transfixed with how it was humming softly. She had long brown and caramel curly hair that went down to her lower back. She heard the door open and slowly turned to shift her attention to whoever had just entered the room. "Oh, evening gentleman." She greeted with a smile. She had dark skin, and some round glasses. Her eyes appeared to match the caramel of her hair, although they seemed to be a shade darker. Of course, this could all be because of the weird lighting choice this building seemed to have. Her outfit was one similar enough to how a teacher or scholar would dress up. The top layer was mocha coloured, and it was buttoned up to about halfway, with a cream coloured t-shirt under it. As for her pants, she was wearing a raven coloured skirt that stuck closely to the legs. Her shoes were candy red heels. And with her heels, she was about 5'6", but in reality, she was about 5'4".
"What are you doing waiting around in a room like this?" Connor shook his head, looking at her.
The girl remained silent for a few seconds before turning her attention back to the generator. "I don't know why, but the sound makes me feel at ease. Silence isn't exactly my forte, so…" She trailed off slightly before turning her attention back over to the two boys. "Oh, I guess I should get right to the formalities and introduce myself, huh?" She took a few small steps and bowed slightly, still holding the book she was carrying. "My name is Adeline Rashid, and for future references, you may simply call me the Ultimate Linguistic Expert." There was a rather long pause as the two boys stared at her.
"I think I'll just stick to calling you by your name." Lawrence told her.
She stood up straight again. "Right. That works too." She had a smile on her face. "This place is a peculiar area, wouldn't you agree? Last I remember, I was just going on a midday stroll."
"Aren't you the least bit concerned?" Connor shook his head slightly. "Who knows where we are."
Adeline hummed in thought, before quickly shaking her head. "I'm rarely ever concerned over any matters. Just another day of life, after all. Being here hasn't really given me a full reason to go into panic mode." She turned back towards the generator. "Besides, it's not like we won't have any electricity to keep us occupied." She turned back towards the two boys, opening her book. "And I got to at least keep some literature, so I will be good until help arrives."
Connor brought a hand to his chin, thinking deeply. "You don't think we need to be concerned over anything, but you do think we are in a place where we'd need help."
She paused briefly, quickly closing her book. "Well, if help is arriving, what's the use of being concerned?" She let out a small laugh before heading over towards the exit. "I doubt that we are the only individuals trapped within this compound." She opened the door, peaking out into the hallway. "So let's go, shall we?"
Lawrence hadn't really said much while she was talking, but he was more so someone who watched people and learned from them. He slowly nodded his head. "Right, if there's more people, I think it would be best to meet them all." He started walking towards the door too.
Connor let out a small sigh. "Honestly, the less people the better." But he still followed the group.
"So, am I the only Ultimate here?" Adeline glanced over at the two excitedly. "It would be a shame if I was."
The lawyer shook his head. "I'm the Ultimate Lawyer, if that makes you feel better."
She had an excited look in her eyes. "It sure does. I thought I dropped the ball upon revealing that."
I did too… Lawrence thought with a small smile. "Although, Connor here doesn't appear to be one."
"My parents raised me to be unspecial." He said with a sad sigh.
Sure… The lawyer shook his head slightly. "Well, while looking for people, we should for sure see where we are…"
"It seems to be a rather futuristic place. The cold bleakness of the walls, the distant alien feel it provides." She hugged her book slightly while talking. "Wherever we are, it seems some time has had to pass."
"Or… Get this!" Connor raised his hands to be parallel to the ground. "Maybe… just maybe… They like the colour blue!"
This got a frown on Adeline's face. "But that isn't as exciting…" She hummed sadly.
This caused him to chuckle slightly. "I'm not here to be exciting. In fact, I don't know why I'm here…"
Lawrence stopped when he approached another door. "We'll find out why we're here eventually. For the time being, let's not worry about that." He slowly opened the door to peer inside the room.
This area seemed to be some sort of gym area, of sorts. It had some rather expensive equipment all over the place.
"A gym?" The lawyer asked as he stepped inside.
"Aww, this place is boring." Connor sighed.
"Mind over matter!" Adeline said with a bright smile.
Lawrence looked at the two, a small amused smile appearing on his face. "What, are we all brain power here?"
Then, from the corner of his eyes, he would see a figure approaching them. "I don't see anything wrong with doing a little training." A deep voice rang out.
The lawyer turned his attention to the deep voice figure and felt immediately intimidated.
The figure in question was about 6'5", towering above everyone else in the room. He had short dark brown hair, and piercing blue eyes that were looking down at all of them. He was rather well built, and looked like he could punch a hole through your stomach. On his head, he wore a black and yellow helmet with a symbol. On closer inspection, it seemed to be some sort of firefighter helmet. He wore what looked like armor on his shoulders, but seemingly nowhere else. Was he worried about his shoulders? He was wearing a white t-shirt that had long since been covered in soot permanently. Actually, only about half of the shirt was covered in it. Another thing to note was that his shirt was covered in rips and tears, and one could see skin beyond that. There was also a cut in his skin around his right shoulder blade, part of it going under where the armor plate is. Wrapped around his lower stomach, was a jet black shirt of sorts. One that a firefighter would normally wear over everything. Why it was wrapped around him was unknown. As for his pants, they were baggy and beige coloured, going a little over his boots. His boots, on the other hand, were rather large. They were black, with a yellow band going around all of it.
Adeline blinked a few times before smiling and waving up at him. "Good afternoon." She grinned. "From the looks of it. You could be nothing else but the-"
Connor put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, let him introduce himself."
"But I want to be right…" She pouted slightly before nodding her head.
The man let out a deep sigh, a smile almost forming on his face. "Well, I can only assume you were going to guess I was the Ultimate Firefighter." The man asked.
The linguistic expert froze for a few seconds before nodding. "O-of course. It would be ridiculous to not think that after seeing your attire."
Connor looked at her for a few seconds before leaning in. "You didn't see the hat, did you?"
"I'm short, leave me alone!" She retorted.
Lawrence let out an amused grin before turning his attention to the fire fighter. "And what would your name be?"
The man took a deep hum. "The name is simply Frederic Frelsier." He responded.
The lawyer nodded his head. "Frederic, got it." A confident smile appeared on his face. "Well, you have a really confident aura to you."
"Hmm… Yes, I say I do. One needs to be confident in my line of work. Any hesitation could mean life or death."
Not what I meant… but huh… "Right, I guess that should have been obvious…"
Connor passed by the group, walking over to the dumbbells on the ground. "I still find it weird… Why is there all of this equipment here? Someone clearly kidnapped us, so why give us stuff."
"Muscles must taste better." Adeline hummed in thought, adjusting her glasses.
"I don't think they plan on eating us…" Lawrence let out a small sigh.
Frederic cracked his knuckles. "I'd like to see them try…" He said in his overly deep voice. "Anyways… I was just leaving this place." He made his way towards the door.
The lawyer looked at him starting to leave. "Yeah, we were just planning on doing the same." He looked at the other two, motioning them to follow him. "We're actually looking for some people."
"People…" He groaned, shaking his head. "I'm sure I saw some other people here, but I didn't pay them any mind."
Ah, not good with people. "Well, just leave the talking to the rest of us." Lawrence pointed to himself and the other two. "We're all good with talking right."
"Talking is my speciality." Connor said with confidence.
Adeline had a small smile on her face. "I love having the opportunity to talk to new individuals."
"Right…" The lawyer looked in front of him. "So, where did you see these people?" He walked over to Frederic.
There was a long agonizing silence before the fire fighter finally answered. "I don't quite remember. But I saw at least two people." He informed him. "One had blonde hair, and the other seemed to be wearing some kind of crown. Both girls."
"Both girls…" So in total, that would bring our numbers up to six… "Any other voices?" He asked him.
Another long pause would follow before he answered. "Nope, I wasn't paying much attention."
Adeline picked up the pace to stand right next to Frederic. "Hey mister, you are not exactly the most approachable. Smiles go for miles." She smiled at him.
His eyes slowly drifted towards hers. "No… I don't think I want to smile in this situation."
He's got a point. We don't even know where we are… "Let's just get to the next room…" Lawrence approached the next door and went to open it, but paused briefly. More people… huh. Why was he worried all of a sudden?
He opened the door to reveal a sort of rec room, or at least a room for music, and sure enough, two people were there. In fact, they fit the description Frederic gave.
"Oh look! More people!" The blonde said with a bright smile on her face, turning to look at the girl with the crown. "Told you there would be more." She waved at them and skipped her way over. "Hello strangers!" She said rather excitedly. She had enough energy to match Adeline. In fact, she probably had even more. The hair of the blonde girl was tied into a braided bun, which almost sat on her head like a crown. But of course, someone else was wearing the crown. Her eyes were a lime green colour, and really stood out in general because they seemed bright. She was wearing a red cape on her back that fluttered when she skipped her way over to the big group. It was tied around her neck neatly by pink threads tied into a lovely bow. As for the rest of her outfit, she wore a rather fancy dress shirt. There were two white lines down the middle, where presumably you could separate it. However, it was being held together by four golden buttons. The rest of her shirt was a dark red colour. Her pants were white pants that stopped a decent bit above her ankle, and one would see what looked like an ankle ring above her flashy red heels. She was about 5'2".
The girl with the crown crossed her arms with a "Hmph…" The crown was golden, and had emerald, sapphires, and rubys placed around it on the lower portion of it. Her hair was a light brown, and was rather long, reaching her lower back. To note, this girl was about 6'1", so her hair was pretty long. She was wearing a purple and white dress with frills at the bottom. She had a necklace on with a pendant attached to it. It was closed at the moment. The sleeves of the dress were rolled up, so you could see her arms. Under the dress, she wore leggings which went into her shoes, which seemed to be blue see through heels. She wore white socks.
"Yes!" Adeline said with a lot of energy. "Another girl."
Connor ran his hand through his hair. "Sigh… It was fun when we weren't that talkative."
"I've said two things." The blonde girl placed her hands on her hips. "Besides, how else are you supposed to get around in life without talking much?"
"By sending encrypted messages." The boy with the black hair said.
This got a small frown from the girl.
Adeline waved her hand dismissively. "Oh, ignore the boys."
Lawrence, not wanting to be associated with Connor like that, took a step forward. "Nice to meet you, could I have your name?"
The blonde girl shifted her attention over to him. "Sure you can! I'm Alina Summers, and I'm also known as the Ultimate Maestro."
"Maestro…?" Frederic mumbled, looking over at her.
Adeline opened her book, flipping through it. "Master of music, normally the one at the head of an orchestra." She then slammed the book shut.
"Is that… a dictionary?" Connor tilted his head slightly.
"Nope. I just use it for flavour." She turned to look at him.
Lawrence had a small smile on his face before turning to look at the girl all the way in the back. She had a rather mean looking face, but she was dressed rather nicely. He excused himself to walk over to the other girl. "Hey, you can join the conversation too."
She looked at him for a few seconds. She definitely had an air of superiority to her. "No, I don't think I will. Besides Alina, none of you seem high class." She put a hand on her hip, a cocky smile forming on her face.
Ouch, I might not be rich, but you didn't have to say it like that… "Hey, I might not be…" He was going to say something else, but he lost his train of thought.
Looking at her outfit, she had a gold crown on her head that looked like it was made from solid gold. Whoever this was, she was clearly rich enough to afford stuff like that. Not only that, but her outfit was really out there. She had a rather elegant purple dress on her.
"Who said you could look?" She said in a rather rude tone before her expression changed. "Or are you saying you are just too stunned upon seeing me?" She let out a small laugh.
"No… I don't…" Lawrence started to say, but he was quickly cut off.
"I know I might look like royalty, but that means I have guys lining up for miles for me." She continued on.
"No… I'm not interested in you-" He started to say but was cut off again.
"Oh, please. Anyone would feel the luxury of dating the Ultimate Architect!" She announced herself as. "In fact, to be more precise, I am Regina Rehnia"
Regina, huh? "Would you get mad at me if I never heard of you?"
She froze slightly, and it looked like her world shattered slightly. "Pfft! How could you not have heard of me?" She placed a hand on her chest with more confidence. "I've probably helped build the building you work in."
"The… courtroom… that's been there for well over three decades." Lawrence told her.
She froze again, before rubbing her arms. "Please don't make me feel unimportant."
You did that to yourself.
Connor walked over to the two of them. "Oh, what do we have here, a Queen?"
This put a spark in her eyes. "Well of course I'm a Queen!"
"You aren't…" Lawrence deadpanned.
Alina and Adeline made their way over to us. "Oh, I see you've met Regina." The blonde said.
"Ah!" The Queen wannabe said with a lot of excitement. "Tell them how great I am!"
The blonde was caught off guard slightly and stuttered slightly. "Y-yeah! You're great!" She mumbled.
"See?" Regina put a hand on her chest. "I wasn't lying."
Lawrence shook his head, clearly getting annoyed. This was quickly getting out of hand. "Well, let's just leave this room… There might be more people here…"
"I'm kinda hoping that there aren't more people." Regina said, dropping her excited tone. "Don't we want less people involved in all of this?"
Frederic hummed in thought, nodding his head. "Exactly. If we've all been kidnapped, it would be best if no one else was. Hoping for more people is rather narrow minded."
"Ah!" Adeline gasped. "You're right!" She took out her book and started writing in it. "I didn't even think of that." She adjusted her glasses when she was done. "I'm just always excited to meet new people, so."
Connor started heading towards the exit. "Well, staying here won't do us any good…" He opened the door. "As much as a thrill a music room seems, we should really be leaving, right?"
"Right." Lawrence agreed as he followed behind the black haired boy. "We should still go look around the area. Let's hope to not meet anyone else, but the odds are we probably will. This was a long hallway."
The gang of six walked outside and started to continue their route down the hallway, when all of a sudden. "Oh, it curves…" Lawrence hummed as he turned left to follow the new path. But then, it turned left again right away. "A 180 degree turn…?" He mumbled.
"How bizarre." Adeline nodded as she peered down the hallway. "Maybe this hallway is in the shape of an oval?" She suggested.
The lawyer dismissed her claim. "That would be weird." There weren't many doors on this side, but they soon reached what looked like a large set of doors.
"This seems important." Connor said with a small snicker as he walked over to it and tried to open it, only to have it fail. "What the…? It's locked." He seemed rather disappointed.
Lawrence thought for a few seconds. "Are you able to pick it?" He asked.
This got a decent chuckle out of the black haired boy. "I told you, I'm no crook. I don't break into places."
The lawyer shrugged. "It was worth a shot."
Frederic walked over to the door and grabbed the handle. "Maybe I can just bust the door down."
"No use wasting energy. Let's not go that way yet…" Alina told him.
He glanced over at her for a few seconds, before eventually complying. "Very well, if you say so."
The group then went further down the hallway, before encountering a person. They weren't in a room, they were just walking with their backs turned. They seemed transfixed on the wall. From this distance, it seemed to be a girl. She had long lapis hair, mixed with several strands of indigo coloured hair.
"Ah! A new comrade!" Adeline said as she ran over towards the girl. "Hello!" She greeted the girl.
This made the girl jump slightly and almost drop the pin she was fiddling with. "H-hey!" She blurted out, reaching down to pick it up. Then, she would stab herself with the tip. "Don't sneak up on people…" She said with a soft voice.
"Ah…" The linguistic expert took a step back. "S-sorry…"
The rest of the group caught up to the two of them.
The girl looked over at the rest of them. "Oh, there are more of you…" She said softly. "I… I didn't think other people would be here…" She glanced away. She had a pin in her hair that looked like a frowning face. The pin seemed to go through the frowning face, showing that it could be worn on both sides. Her eyes were orange, but one couldn't see it too well, since she kept looking away all the time. Her outfit was rather cute looking. She had a small purple skirt that went to about her knees, and her shirt was a dull blue colour. There were stitches visible on her shirt. She was about 5'7".
Regina placed a hand on her hip. "And I was hoping that no one else would be here…" She had a serious expression on her face.
"Well, it's unfortunate, but that's how this is going to be." Connor said as he walked past the girl. "Let's keep going until we reach a dead end."
"H-huh…" The girl reached her hand out before stopping herself. "Well, I should probably tell you who I am." She took a deep breath. "I'm Paige Nima, and I've recently been made the Ultimate Seamstress."
"Oh?" This surely caught Regina's attention, who took a few steps over here. "An Ultimate Seamstress, you say? Do you take commission?"
Regina was about half a foot taller than Paige, so she had to look up at her, which was slightly intimidating. "Huh- Not at the moment. I don't have any of my tools besides this." She held out her pin."
"And I'm guessing you don't have any materials…" The queen hummed sadly. "Very well. When we make it out of here, I will commission you to make me a beautiful dress!"
She really acts more like a queen than she does an architect. Are we sure she's not lying here?
Paige nodded her head. "Y-yes, I can do that. I will say though, the rates for my work is quite expens-"
This got a laugh from the queen. "Oh, don't mind me, I'm sure whatever prices you throw my way, I can afford it. Have you looked at me?"
The seamstress looked at her getup before slowly nodding her head. "Oh, well I guess you're right. Someone like you should be able to afford what I make." She tilted her head, poking the tip of the pin in her hands. "Although, only like one or two dresses."
Regina's face paled up a bit. "W-what? How expensive are these for you to think I can only afford two of them?!"
"We shouldn't be worrying about some sort of dress." Frederic said, sounding rather cold when he said it. "We need to find a way out."
"Right!" Regina had grown back to a more serious expression. Seems she tends to let her fame get to her head.
"Well, like I said…" Connor called out from the far end of the hallway. "Let's keep going until we find a dead end or way out,"
But the hallway seemed to stretch on for a long time.
Eventually, however, the group would run into another person. This person was seemingly wearing a light blue lab coat of sorts. He had a clipboard in his hands, and he was reading through some notes on it. Hearing us approaching him, he slowly turned to look at us. "Oh? Quite intriguing…" He hummed in thought as he placed the clipboard by his side. "Didn't expect to find anyone else in such a location… At least, no one who seemed friendly to meet." He had some glasses on, although the right lens had a small crack around the top. He had somewhat messy brown, coffee, and black hair that went down to around above his eyes. While it looked messy, it still had an air of professionalism to it. His pants were a white colour, and seemed baggy. The person stood at about 5'9". "The name is Oliver. And given my getup, you might eventually realize that I'm the Ultimate Surgeon." He placed his hand against his chin. "You must all be in the same dire situation as me. I doubt any of you would be responsible for this."
Connor snapped his finger, pointed at the surgeon. "But we might be. I could be a pathological liar for all you know."
Oliver simply shrugged. "True, no way to trust anyone for certain. But you won't gain anything from distrusting people either, don't you think?"
This shut up the mystery man as he simply put his hands in his pocket.
"Do any of you remember anything that might be of use?" The surgeon looked around at everyone.
Paige shook her head with a frown. "Sorry, I don't remember anything. I'm sure that's the same with everyone else, though."
There was a collective nodding throughout the group.
"Right, thought so." Oliver turned around. It looked like he was going to leave, but instead, he would walk back and forth, thinking to himself. Or more like thinking out loud. "So, someone put us here for unknown reasons-"
Well, he was going to keep talking, but a loud buzzing noise could be heard coming from an area Lawrence and the others just came from.
"The hell was that?" Connor commented, looking around.
The lawyer looked at the rest of the group before moving towards the direction of the sound. "Seems to have come from the doors we tried to open."
"Ah yes, I tried those doors earlier." Oliver noted. "But unfortunately they were locked."'
"Weeeeell." Adeline moved over towards the doors. "Should we see if they're unlocked right now?"
Lawrence shook his head. "No, we should be more careful."
The surgeon nodded his head. "Yes, there's no telling how dangerou- She opened it already…" He let out a sigh.
Yup, Adeline had ignored the warnings and opened the door slowly. What she opened the door to seemed to be a rather small cafeteria. "What a weird thing to keep locked." She noted as she stepped inside.
Oliver hummed in thought as he followed right after her. "Yeah, you're right. Odd."
Frederic crossed his arms. "Maybe they wanted to keep us out of here for now. Does that mean someone is watching us?"
Someone watching us? I hope not. Lawrence shook his head as he allowed everyone else to step in before he did.
.
.
.
Once again, there was nothing, it was silent, and dark.
Then, once again, various flashes would appear.
The first would be of a young girl, who had just been slapped across the face.
The next one would be of the same girl, a year older, running after something before a truck passed by on the road.
And finally, the last image that flashed was her standing in front of a school, a small genuine smile appearing on her face.
.
And then…
"Wake up!" A voice called out, shoving the girl off of a desk.
"Ah!" She called out, landing on the floor and banging her head. Luckily, that didn't seem to knock her out. "What the hell…?" She mumbled rather rudely. Well, it made sense, since she had just been shoved off. She looked around the room until she could find out who had done this.
Not standing far away from the desk, was a girl about her height, being 5'7". She had long orange hair that curled up and green eyes. She seemed to be Irish of sorts. She had a vest on, which at first glance appeared to be a bomb in of itself, but it was just very insulated. On the right side, right under her shoulder, was a small timer thing that would count down from one minute. Once the timer reaches zero, it would be replaced with the flashing words BOOM before restarting. Honestly, it was rather cute. She wore jeans with several different coloured wires sticking out of her pockets. Most of them were cut. Of course, they weren't connected to anything.
"You bitch…" The girl who fell mumbled as she slowly stood up.
The orange haired girl took a step back. "Hey, you were the one who wouldn't wake up." She said, a smile appearing on her face. "So I did the best I could."
"I'll have you know I was enjoying whatever sleep I was actually getting." She huffed. She looked around the room, which seemed to have a red feeling to it. "Wow, did someone's blood get plastered all over the place?"
The orange haired girl looked around a bit. "I thought so, but was disappointed to find out that wasn't the case.
Disappointed? "Huh… sure." She clutched her head, having just fallen on it. "Man, what a rude awakening. You couldn't have chosen a better way to do this?"
"Nope!" She said with a bright smile on her face. "You wouldn't shut up about someone stopping or something. I couldn't exactly make out what you were saying. Sounds like you were having a nightmare."
The girl looked around the area. "Well, I wasn't. But looking around, I might as well be in one now. Where the hell are we?"
The orange haired girl brought a finger to her mouth. "Yeah, that I'm not entirely sure about…" She frowned slightly.
The girl shook her hair before taking out a compact mirror. "I at least hope I look presentable." The girl in question had long brown hair tied into a ponytail with a blue bow of sorts. Her eyes were a caramel colour and she wore what appeared to be a work shirt of sorts with a tech logo on the left side. She wore some ripped jeans that shared the same logo. Finally, she was 5'8". "Ugh, these clothes." She complained.
The orange haired girl tilted her head to the side. "What, you don't like them? I think they're really fitting."
The girl quickly shook her head. "This just means I'm at work or something." She looked around some more. "Although red isn't exactly their colour. They're more so a nice shade of dark blue." She turned her attention to the orange haired girl, staring her down for a few seconds. "Anyways, who are you?"
The girl bounced up slightly at the thought of being able to introduce herself. "Well, I'm Isabelle Riveria." She extended her hand out.
The girl with brown hair shook her head. "Yeah, I don't do that. Is that all you have to say about yourself?"
Isabelle blinked a few times before remembering something. "Well, I'm more than just a name. I'm… an Ultimate."
Oh, god, Ultimate…? "You too, huh…?"
She took a step back. "You take away the magic if I'm not the only one."
"Just get it over with." The brown haired girl put a hand on her hip.
Isabelle frowned slightly but it faded quickly. "Well, I'm the Ultimate Explosives Expert. I know all there is to know about them. Including disarming them." There was a long pause. "And building them."
"You make bombs…?" The brown haired girl asked.
"W-well, I wouldn't put it like that." She shook her head.
She nodded her head in reaffirmation. "You build bombs." She took a step towards Isabelle. "Well, you can call me Jessica Trince. As for my own Ultimate talent, I'm nothing but the Ultimate Hacker."
Her eyes light up upon finding out her talent. "Ultimate Hacker? That's so cool!"
Jessica frowned slightly, rubbing her arm. "It's cool all until you get caught and forced to work-" She looked back at her shirt. "Here of all places. Oh well, it pays well, so I shouldn't be complaining." She walked over to the door. "Have you been outside yet?"
Isabelle shook her head. "I didn't want to leave you alone, after all."
"Very thoughtful." She said in a semi sarcastic voice. Her hand reached for the doorknob and slowly started to turn it.
Once outside in the hallway, they would find that the walls still had the same red tint to them. Jessica looked up at the light fixture on the ceiling. "Wow, someone must really like having red lights in this place. It starts to hurt the eyes."
"Honestly, it just makes me mad…" Isabelle covered her eyes, trying to avoid staring at the light for too long.
The hacker rolled her eyes. "Let's just continue on. I don't know where we are, or who brought us here. But I don't want to have to run into the answer for the second question." She started making her way down the hallway. It seemed like a rather long hallway of sorts that stretched on for a good bit.
"This place seems big…" Isabelle commented. "I wonder what it-"
"No, you can't blow this place up." Jessica let out a small sigh.
"Aww! But think of the absolute destruction that would come with it." The demolitionist said with a sparkle in her eyes.
The hacker didn't answer. Instead, her eyes were fixated on someone. In the distance, someone was walking around. They had blonde hair that covered one eye, and they didn't seem to be paying much attention to where they were going. They seemed to be wearing a private school uniform of sorts. It was mostly all black, with a blue shirt underneath. They had a black and red tie faintly visible under the suit part of it. Then, they had long black suit pants. They seemed a little longer than they should have been, and covered most of their dress shoes. The boy stood at about 5'11".
"You think he's keeping us here?" Isabelle gasped slightly.
Jessica rolled her eyes. "I doubt it, he seems like he would kill himself before kidnapping anyone." She decided to approach him. "Hey." She greeted.
The boy slowly looked up, now an annoyed expression on his face. "Can I help you?"
The hacker quickly realized she wouldn't even know what to say.
"Are you stuck here too?" Isabelle stepped in to ask the questions.
The boy looked over at her. "Well, yeah. I just woke up here suddenly…" He looked up at the ceiling. "Whoever this building belongs to has very shitty taste…"
Isabelle took a look around the building. "Or maybe they just like red."
The boy blinked a few times. "Red's a bad colour."
"Your eyes are red." Jessica pointed out.
The boy remained silent for a long time before covering his eyes with his hair. "I don't know what you mean…"
The hacker let out a small sigh. "Look, no need to be hostile towards us."
"Hostility is just the way I've lived. Hasn't done me any harm, so why should I stop?" He tilted his head slightly.
Isabelle took a few steps towards him, glaring at his face. "Hmm…"
He returned the gaze, unsure of what that was all about. "What are you…?"
The demolitionist took a few steps back. "Who has hurt you?"
"What? No one." He ran his hand through his hair to set it back to the old hairstyle. "Look, what do you want from me?"
"How about a name?" Jessica suggested.
"A name? You want a name? I'm Florence Nightfall."
"And then a talent!" Isabelle said, a little excited.
Florence started biting his finger. "A talent… I… I don't think I have one."
"Huh? But both of us have talents." The demolitionist pointed towards Jessica and herself.
The hacker started to walk by the talentless boy. "Well, if he doesn't have a talent, he doesn't have a talent. No need to pester him about any of it."
Isabelle frowned slightly. "Alright…"
"Either way, we should be heading off now. We should see what else this building has to offer. From the looks of how it's built. It's a huge building, and I don't recall seeing any windows. So either they're all covered, or there weren't any to begin with."
Florence watched the two girls walk off, and he was debating just leaving the two of them to their affairs, but he decided to tag along.
"Oh?" Jessica looked over at him. "Someone decided to join us."
He didn't say much before finally speaking up. "Well, it was either that or walk the eternal abyss that is this hallway."
"What, does it not end?" Isballe blinked a few times.
Florence shook his head. "No, but it loops."
"The hallway loops? What reason would it need to do that?" Jessica asked, humming in thought.
The boy shrugged. "Beats me, and I don't really care, so…" He kept walking up ahead. "Even if I went the other way, I'm sure we'd just cross paths again, so fate decides."
"He's cryptic." Isabelle mumbled.
"He's over dramatic." Jessica corrected.
The next place they would arrive seemed to be a room filled with various different relics of sorts. Or at least pictures of them. There was one person standing in the room, admiring everything he was looking at.
"Ah, what lovely pictures we got up here." Then, he turned around once he heard some noise.
The guy in the room had one of those leaf things that some rangers would put in their mouth. He had an old explorer type look to him. Well, maybe not explorer. His clothes weren't like maroon or anything. They were definitely more beige. He had a red scarf-like thing around his neck, which reached about the center of his chest. On the left side above his chest, he had a pocket attached to a back of sorts, and another one on the bottom right of his torso. He had a utility belt around his waist, with various tools attached to it including small shovels and brushes. The sleeves on his shirt were rolled up past his elbow, and his pant legs were rolled up past his knees. The colour of his pants were also a beige colour. As for his boots, he had brown work boots. He was 5'8".
"Evening ma'am." The boy greeted, looking at the two girls. "And… some emo kid." He said, referring to Florence.
"I'm not emo." He countered.
"He's totally emo." Jessica replied. She took a few steps towards the man, inspecting his outfit. "Well, your outfit seems rather dirty…"
"'Of course. Makes sense doesn't it?" He took his hat off, dusting himself off. "Based solely on what I do, after all. I'm the Ultimate Archeologist. I dig up the earth in order to find fossils." He put on his hat again. "Course, I don't always find stuff. But that's fine. The fun part is looking. Actually finding anything is a bonus, wouldn't you say?"
"Nono, I think finding stuff would be the best part." Isabelle said.
"A journey without a destination is pointless." Florence added.
Jessica shook his head. "What's the point of doing something if there's no reward?"
The man took out his leaf thing, inspecting all three of them. "You are all boring, and I want nothing to do with any of you."
The demolitionist pointed at him. "You're boring! Mister- Hey, what's your name?"
"Well, you can call me Kennith Mercia." He looked at the ground, kicking it slightly. "And I hope it's a name you remember."
Isabelle nodded her head. "Now is that with two L's or one."
"Five." Then, he turned his head a bit. "You seem much more reasonable." He pointed towards Jessica. You got any clue what the hell is happening here?"
She shook her head. "Just as lost as you. But like you said, it doesn't matter what the end goal is, since the journey is the best part."
He had a deadpan look on his face as he looked at Jessica. "Using my own words against me, are you? You wound me, lady." He chuckled slightly, walking past the group. "Well fine, I'll hold myself up to my words. Let's go on a journey. I'm dying to get to the bottom of this, after all." He left the room without saying much else.
"Everywhere he walks, a trail of dirt is sure to follow." Florence commented, looking at the ground where sure enough, a trail of dirt from his clothes was.
"Does he… never wash his clothes?" Jessica mumbled.
"Oh? Are we supposed to?" Isabelle blinked a few times. "I just get new clothes because my old ones get blown up."
The hacker looked at her for a few seconds before following Kennith out. This wasn't worth any of the mental pain.
Once outside, she would find him still dusting himself off. "Damn, whoever took us didn't even give us the liberty of cleaning us off? What a punk." He turned towards the rest of the group. So, it's just the four of us, huh?"
"In a perfect world, yes." Florence said. "But the odds of this being a perfect world are next to nothing, so I know things will just go wrong."
"Alright there, mister pessimist." Kennith turned around, heading down the hallway. "Let's see if you're right."
The group would walk for a bit before they even got close to stumbling across anyone else.
There was a boy in the hallway, who seemed to be reciting some sort of literature to himself. He didn't even notice anyone stepping towards him. He had a white mask that seemed to split in two, with one half being a happy face, and the other one being a frowning face. Like the typical theatre masks. You could see small holes for the eyes and nose, but there didn't seem to be any for the mouth. As for his outfit, he had a rather baggy white shirt on top. Despite it being baggy, it was still rather well kept. Obviously it was someone who cared about his appearance. On closer inspection, would be able to faintly see golden text along his sleeves. Of course, it was hard to actually make out what it was saying. On the right side, about chest level, there was a pin that looked like his mask. He had a necklace around his head with a skull on it. It was golden. His pants were worn high, and his shirt was tucked into it, probably to stop it from reaching his knees. These pants weren't baggy like his shirt, and instead were more on the tight side. They stopped right above his ankles, and the bottom of them were rolled up. He had nice black dress shoes that were neatly tied up. His hair was a mixture of dirty blonde, brown, and a caramel colour. It was messy, and the only part of him that he didn't seem to put much effort into. Finally, he was about 5'9".
Kennith blinked a few times before walking over to him. He leaned back on the wall right behind the boy, reading over his shoulder.
"My lord, don't just sneak up on me. Unless you have come to bring me tea." The boy said, seemingly rhyming. He had a high air to him.
"Don't tell me how to live my life." The archaeologist said to him.
The boy seemed somewhat annoyed. "Honestly, you aren't even worth the strife."
Oh, this one just seems so full of himself. Jessica rolled her eyes. "We're trying to hold a conversation."
He only laughed a little at that. "A conversation with some of you would only lead to frustration."
Florence moved his hair out of the way. "You seem to be rhyming with everything we say."
The boy took a bow, with a little confidence. "But of course, that is the only way." He stood back up. "The only way to show off my expertise of a talent. How else but by doing something so gallant?"
Florence was seemingly getting more annoying. "Because it just makes you seem so full of yourself."
Kennith stood in the way of the two. "Woah, you guys can kill each other later, can we at least figure out what's going on first."
"Nah, skip that step and go for blood now!" Isabelle giggled.
He took another bow. "Killing is not something that I would allow." He stood up straight again, reaching over for the mask on his face. He removed it, allowing everyone to see his face. His face actually looked rather cute, and didn't seem to fit how he's been acting. His eyes were a sweet light blue, and he didn't look like he could cause harm. "You may call me Nicolas Caos, if you will. As the Ultimate Poet, my life is one of thrill." Of course, putting on the mask again seemed to put back the feeling of superiority in his character.
Isabelle tilted her head a bit. "You're kinda cute without the mask."
"W-what?" Was all he could say. Guess he didn't rhyme all of the time.
Jessica rolled her eyes. "Look, we don't really have time for this, so let's keep going. There's no telling who else…" She looked down at the red lights of the hallway. "Or what else is here…" She mumbled as she made her way over.
Nicolas watched everyone else leave, before letting out a sigh. "Alright, I'll follow, since I don't want to disappear." So, he tagged along with the group.
Florence ran a hand through his head. "The more I walk down this damn hallway, the more I feel like I'm going to get a headache. Why can't this be lit up normally? Isn't it harmful for the eyes?"
Isabelle took a few steps forward to walk by the emo boy. "Actually, red lights aren't too bad. The ones you should worry about are blue lights, and green lights."
"What are you, the Ultimate Lights Expert?" Now he sounded somewhat annoyed.
This got a small giggle from her. "I build bombs for fun." If that wasn't a completely deranged response.
Jessica let out a small sigh before walking up to the two of them. "Alright, enough about that." Not really a conversation I care much about, so let's keep the focus off of it.
Soon, they would all arrive at the next room. Opening the door, they would see a small working station. There were some cupboards on the walls, and at the end of the room, was a small work desk of sorts. There were also some tables around the room with various materials. Next to one of the tables, stood a man. He seemed to be about 6'2", so pretty tall. Probably the tallest person that Jessica's group had encountered in this place. He had long dark brown hair that appeared to be frayed. Although, part of the back of his head seemed to be bandaged up. The man turned to look at the group, and they would notice that the bandage went and covered their mouth. Did they have an injury there? One of his hands was also bandaged, while the other one wasn't. The one that wasn't bandaged seemed to have several different cuts and scars on it. His eyes were an emerald colour. However, they seemed rather distant, like they weren't fully paying that they saw the front of him, they got to see the rest of his outfits' features. He seemed to wear a long tattered cape that reached just under his knees. He wore a black hat with a red band around it. The shirt he wore was open in the center, only being held together in the center by two golden buttons, and underneath, a blood red shirt could be seen. Around his neck, there was a small doll of himself. He wore a black belt that also seemed to have various things attached to it, such as materials for knitting. Finally, he wore black boots that went up rather high, almost reaching his knees.
"Oh, I don't appear to be alone. How… Unfortunate…" He poked the tip of the needle against his finger, drawing a little bit of blood. "I was hoping to see what this room had to offer." Then, he placed it down on the table. "But it seems like I won't go uninterrupted."
"Yeah, sorry to break your little fantasy world." Jessica crossed her arms. "But we're just going around, looking for who else might be in the same situation as us."
"I can assure you, whatever fantasy you think I'm caught up with is naught but reality. And whatever situation you are currently in, is none of my concern."
Nicolas, adjusted his mask a bit. "No, I think she's right, reality isn't something he can discern."
The man sent a small glare in the poet's direction. "Fretting over such small matters isn't my character. I'll leave that to someone else." He pulled out a small doll. "Besides, like I said, my fantasy can become reality."
"Ugh, just tell me who you are." Jessica was wishing she was someone else right now. Someone who didn't have to be here and deal with all of these people.
He spent some time staring at the doll before putting it away. "Well, if you insist on knowing my name, I am known far and wide as Nadeln, the Ultimate Voodoo Master."
Nicolas immediately went clutching his mask. "With a talent like that, it could only spell disaster."
"Haha!" Kennith seemed to have a bright smile on his face. "Man, that's sick!" He approached Nadeln. "Could I see that doll you have?"
He glanced over the archeologist for a few seconds before shaking his head. "If you know what I am, why go for the doll? That doll could only be used for one thing."
"I mean, I reckon, but isn't there only one way to find out?" Kennith didn't seem to be getting the idea.
"So… Do you have a last name… or?" Jessica finally asked.
Nadeln looked over at her, trying to make sure he kept one eye on the archeologist. "I used to, but I've been disowned forever ago."
"Oh! Oh!" Isabelle joined in with excitement. "What's that like! I want to be disowned!"
Jessica pulled on her ear. "No you don't." God, this was starting to feel like some dysfunctional group of friends. "Are you coming with us or not?"
The voodoo master looked at the entire group before letting out a small laugh. "Sure, I don't see why not. How else am I supposed to get every detail right?"
Nicolas turned to walk away. "None of this will turn out alright…" He mumbled to himself.
Florence rolled his eyes. "What a crummy group of people."
"Yeah, but you're part of this crummy group too!" Isabelle told him with a smile.
Well, as long as we don't meet anyone else completely ins- Jessica never got to finish her thoughts, as she stepped out of the room. A loud honking noise could be heard, which snapped her back to reality. Unfortunately for her, it also made her slip and fall onto her back. "Hey!" She rubbed her back a bit. "What the hell!?"
Standing a few feet away was someone who seemed to be in some sort of clown attire. He had poofy orange hair, and white face paint. His lips were a very reddish colour, and he had yellow sparkles around his eyes. His shirt was stripped with dark blue, orange, purple, and yellow. As for his pants, they appeared to be baggy, and had similar stripes. However, these ones were only white and yellow. He was wearing rather big red shoes. Finally, his height was about 5'6". "Hahaha!" He laughed rather obnoxiously. "Did I get ya? Did I get ya?"
"What you're going to get is my foot up your ass…" The hacker mumbled as she slowly stood up.
"Huh, tough crowd." He hummed sadly, taking a step back. "Foots aren't for asses, might I remind you."
Isabelle poked her head out of the room, looking at the clown. "Who the hell invited Pennywise."
"Pennywise?!" The clown called out, seemingly insulted by that. "Please, I put that clown to shame. Who needs a scary clown? The world shouldn't contain any of those. A perfect world has nothing but humo-"
"Oh, how bothersome." Florence moved his hair back, revealing his other eye. "Looking at you is an eyesore, I think I'm going to puke."
"You sure that isn't just the lights?" The demolitionist asked.
He let his hair drop, covering his eyes again. "Oh shush you."
The clown let out a small depressing sigh. "Nobody likes clowns like they used to." He raised his finger. "But no matter, I believe people like us still have a place in this world!"
"People like us? You make it sound like you're your own race." Jessica mumbled, shaking her head.
This got a laugh from him. "But of course I'm my own race! Others couldn't dream of being part of the clown race."
"Can one be racist to clowns?" Isabelle tilted her head.
"Would it be morally wrong to commit clown genocide?" Nadeln asked out of nowhere.
The clown had a slight annoyed expression on his face. "I think it would be morally wrong to do any sort of genocide." Then he realized he was breaking character and quickly got back into the act. "I mean! You can try and kill us." He let out a laugh. "But our will shall live on."
"This is sounding more like a cult." Jesicca mumbled out.
Florence rolled his eyes. "If we meet a cultist, I'm going to lose it."
"Oh? You're just going to go ahead and throw a fit?" Nicolas asked him with a tilt of the head.
Kennith let out a small chuckle. "Well, either way." He extended his arm to the clown. "Welcome to the gang of dysfunctional people. You got a name?"
The clown extended his hand out, and the moment their hand connected, the archeologist seemed like he was shocked, and he fell to the ground.
"Oh, you bogan," He called out from the ground. "Was just gonna ask you your name." He made no attempt to get up.
The clown adjusted his joy buzzer a bit. "My name? Well, I got by many nam-"
"Your actual name, please." Jessica said, shutting him down immediately.
He honked his horn sadly. "You guys aren't any fun at all. But that just means I have to work harder!" He dusted himself off, taking off much more dust he should have reasonably accumulated. "The name is Georgie Freeman." He took a pause to write that down on his hand, not that it appeared because it used the same paint he was wearing. "Anyone got an arm?"
"Oh! I've got two!" Isabelle extended her arm out.
"Perfect!" Georgie exclaimed, writing his name on her arm. "That's more than the average."
Nadeln tilted his head while continuing to play with the doll in his hand. "Technically not wrong. There are more people with one arm than there are with three."
"As for some other sort of identification." The clown continued. "I am also known as the Ultimate Clown."
As if that wasn't obvious enough, freak. Sadly, she didn't say that part out loud. "Can we keep moving, or are we just going to stay here the entire time?" She wanted to hurry up and figure out what the hell was going on around here.
Kennith slowly got up, shaking his hand a little bit. "Well, that was unnecessary."
"Are you implying comedy is unnecessary, mister Wilson?" Georgie crossed his arms.
He blinked a few times. "Who now?"
Florence rolled his eyes again. "I'm leaving you all behind." He sighed to himself as he continued on. He didn't need to be around these types of people.
But he soon found himself being followed by Jessica. "I just want to get out of here." She mumbled, clutching her head. It was in constant pain, but she couldn't exactly figure out why. Had they been drugged or something?
The rest of the group eventually caught up with himm, and they spent the rest of the time walking down the long hallway. They eventually made their way to a set of double doors, which was on the right side of the wall.
Not only that, but someone was standing in front of it. She seemed to be humming to herself, looking around. She didn't appear… lost. Just curious if anything.
She was wearing what appeared to be a traditional looking nun outfit. The veil was obviously on her head, so it was hard to make out her face from certain angles. But, when she turned to face the group, she had blonde hair that reached about her middle back. There was a lot of it, so it was hard to contain in the headpiece. She had two different coloured eyes. The right one was blue, while the left one was red. Part of her headpiece on the left side was ripped, and a little bit of hair was sticking out, almost looking like a horn of sorts. She wore two different necklaces. One was of a golden cross that's on the right side, and then a red pendant on the left. This one portrayed an upside down star with five smaller symbols at each point. The star itself seemed to form some sort of beast.
"And people call me edgy." Florence mumbled.
"Shut up, emo boy." The nun said. Alright, that definitely wasn't the first thing I thought she'd say.
"What?" He mumbled, clutching his head slightly like he had been mentally hurt.
The girl simply smiled. "Weren't expecting that, were you? You bite me, I bite that."
"Kinky." Isabelle commented.
This got a rather lewd smirk from the girl. "I know it is."
Nadeln took a few steps towards her, starting to look at her closely. "Interesting." He said, and even with the bandages, one could sense a smile. "You're a nun, but that pendant isn't something one would normally carry around."
She grabbed onto her pendant, rubbing it slightly to make it shine a little more. "It's a good luck charm."
"A charm like that will only bring harm." Nicolas pointed out, taking a step back and clutching his mask.
"Oh, don't be so over dramatic." The girl laughed a bit. "I'm still standing, aren't I?"
"And the people around you?" Florence asked.
She hummed in thought, thinking a bit. "Well, one church I attended did catch on fire and burn down. But that was unrelated."
"Unrelated?" Kennith called out. "Sounds like you are a walking talking bad luck charm."
"Nah, that was someone else. And she definitely wasn't to blame for the fire." The girl pointed towards the archeologist. "Anyways, for future references, you may call me Naomi Bishop. And with the power granted with me, I am the Ultimate Exorcist. I've been blessed with a gift at the ripe age of 'I forgot.'"
Jessica shook her head. "Alright… I'm going to choose to not believe any of that bullshit."
"Oh! But it's true! My blood is holy!" Naomi lifted her hand up horizontally. "With my specially infused blood, I am immune to being turned into a vampire, a zombie, a werewolf, most diseases venom doesn't affect me, nor can I be poisoned, miss me with that despair shit, mem-
"Enough!" The hacker called out, seemingly annoyed.
The nun put her hands on her hips. "Well, you doubted me, so I had to defend myself somehow."
She put a hand to her head. "Yeah, but that was a little too much." She glanced off towards the door she was standing in front of. "Besides, what are you doing standing in front of the door?"
"Oh! Must be checking for a claymore mine!" Isabelle piped up.
Florence shook his head. "No one is at weird or dumb as you…"
She snapped her fingers at him, leaning forward slightly. "Well don't blame me when you forget to check one day and you blow up because of it."
"Good riddance…" The emo boy mumbled, clutching his head.
Kennith took a few steps towards the door. "Well, these doors definitely need to lead somewhere interesting." He pointed out. "There are two of them, after all." As he got closer, a buzzer went off. "I didn't do it!" He called out, taking a step back.
Naomi hummed in thought, tilting her head slightly. "It didn't do that to me when I approached it."
"Maybe he's just been banished from that realm." Nadeln said, putting his doll away. "Happens to the worst of us."
"Wasn't the saying the best of us?" The archeologist turned to look at him.
The voodoo master didn't answer at all.
Jessica let out a rather small sigh as she slowly opened the doors.
.
On the other side of the doors, was what appeared to be some sort of cafeteria area. It was by far the largest room that they had seen in this place. There were four rows of tables that looked like they could sit fifteen people on each side. At the back left corner, there seemed to be a station to get yourself some food, and the closest right corner also had one too. On the other three walls, there seemed to be doors identical to the ones they had just entered.
The most important thing to note, however, was the other group of eight standing on the other side of the cafeteria.
"Wait, we aren't alone?" Alina noted, poking her head out from behind Regina.
The architect crossed her arms. "It would appear not."
Sixteen people in total? That's way more than I would have thought. Jessica glanced back at her group, before closely examining the other group. "Are you in the same situation we're stuck in?"
Connor crossed his arms. "No, we're the reason you are all stuck here. I'm the king, bow down before me-"
"Hey! The only royalty here is me!" Regina placed a hand on her chest. "And I can assure you that we have nothing to do with any of this."
"What a bunch of weird looking people…" Florence mumbled out, crossing his arms.
"Are you guys Ultimates too?" Isabelle asked the other group.
Frederic crossed his arms, approaching the center of the room. "Most of us were, except apparently for this runt over here." He nudged his head over to Connor.
"Wait…" Florence mumbled out, clutching his head again, seemingly in some sort of distress. "There are more Ultimates here…?"
Jessica sent him a glance before looking back at the fire fighter. "Same here, we have seven Ultimates, and this guy over here." She pointed towards the emo boy.
He shook his head. "Nonononono…" He took a step back. "If there is no one but Ultimates… then…" He stopped clutching his head and let out a small sigh. "I think I'm the Ultimate Lucky Student."
"Lucky? Where's the talent in that?" Georgie mumbled under his breath, before honking a horn. "Especially with your appearance, you don't seem too lucky!"
The hacker looked over at Florence. "What do you mean you think?"
He turned his back towards the group, putting his hands in his pockets. "I don't want to talk about it, nor do I have to."
"From the sounds of it, it's not like he knew." Nicolas pointed out, turning towards the rest of the group. "So, these are the people who have been imprisoned with us." He did another bow. "Now, I get that everyone is worried, but please, do not make a fuss."
"Sorry… to break the introduction." Paige said, taking a few steps forward. "But… Why are we even here?"
"Good question, one that I don't quite care for…" Nadeln said his focus was on hand sewing some stitches to a new doll.
The girl blinked a few times, a small smile on her face. "Is that a doll?" She slowly approached him.
The voodoo master nodded his head. "I make them in my free time, they are quite soothing."
"And just like that, she's already distracted." Jessica rolled her eyes.
The surgeon took a few steps forward. "Alright, let's have someone here actually try and be civil for once. The name's Oliver, and I assume we have been dropped into a similar predicament as you." He extended his arm out towards the hacker.
She slowly reached over to shake his hand. "As for me, it's Jessica." She slowly nodded her head at that last part. "I don't really remember much on how we got here, but yeah, pretty much."
"Oh, let's not worry ourselves too much." Connor had his hands behind his back. "I'm sure we will be fine."
Naomi shook her head. "The moment you let your guard down is the moment you lose."
The mysterious boy gave her a weird look before shaking his head. "Well, way to dampen the mood, miss nun." And then he turned around and walked back towards his group.
"Hey! These doors won't open!" Isabelle called out, trying to open the doors that hadn't been used yet. "I want to explore!" She whined.
"Have you tried pushing?" Kennith walked over to her.
She just gave him an annoyed look. "Yeah, my next step is to start pulling from the bottom."
"That was going to be my fourth suggestion." It was hard to tell if he was being serious with her, or just messing around.
"Let's try not to explore anywhere else yet." Lawrence stepped up to be in the center of the room. "We still don't quite know our situation, so it would be a bad idea to split up."
Regina had her arms crossed. "I'm inclined to agree. We might want to stay in large groups. We don't know what's out there."
"Besides, being alone in a place like this…" Alina shuddered slightly.
Georgie let out a laugh. "The only horrifying thing out there is reality itself!"
Florence started heading towards one of the doors already opened. Specifically the one that the other group came from. "I work better alone." He went to open it, but soon realized that it didn't even open at all. "Hey, what gives?" He turned towards Lawrence's group. "Which one of you locked it?"
Oliver lifted up his hands in defense. "I can assure you, none of us locked anything." He approached the door. "The doors seemed to be on some sort of automated lock. Whoever did this wants us all to be here." He turned towards the rest of the group.
"Then why don't they just make themselves known?" Adeline asked, putting a hand on her hip. "Making us wait will not do them any good, after all."
Soon, there was laughter. High pitched, almost steeped in despair.
"Hey, now wait a minute…" Georgie started walking towards the source of laughter. "I'm the only one who can just laugh randomly-" And then the location of it changed. "Alright, you made your point."
Nadeln put the doll away in his chest pocket, closing his eyes. "Ah, this serenades my ears."
"Show yourself!" Jessica called out, turning around to look at where the laughter was now coming from.
Then, out from a panel in the ceiling, came a black and white bear. It landed on one of the tables and stood up.
"What an awful fashion statement…" Florence took a step back, covering half of his face.
Paige took a few steps forward. "I don't know about you, but it's kind of cute." She reached out and picked him up.
"H-hey!" The bear called out, clearly having not expected any of that. "Unhand me!"
The seamstress turned the bear upside down. "Wow, and it's so neatly knitted. The craftsmanship on this thing is amazing."
Regina placed a hand on her shoulder. "I don't think we should be messing around with whatever this is."
Paige looked over at her for a few seconds before placing the bear down.
"That's no way to handle me!" The bear shouted out at the girl.
"Would punching work?" Kennith asked from pretty far in the back.
Naomi pointed at the bear. "It's black and white, it should be able to replace a soccer ball pretty well."
"Enough!" The bear yelled back. It was clear that it barely had any control on the situation.
Lawrence, on the other hand, decided to play it smart like Regina did. "Are you the reason why we're stuck here?"
The bear covered his mouth, stifling a laugh. "Well, you can say that again."
"Are you the reason why we're-" Connor started to say.
"I didn't mean literally!" The bear shouted before covering his mouth again. "You must be asking yourself, why would I go through the trouble of gathering sixteen Ultimates into this one place."
"Yes, that is one of the many questions on my mind at the moment." Adeline hummed, writing some stuff down. "Other questions I find myself asking is what was with the ugly blue lights."
The bear let out a defeated sigh, kicking the top of the table. "Kids these days just aren't into killing games like they used to be."
Wait… what? "Killing game?" Lawrence repeated. "You don't mean to say-"
"I'm afraid so, lawyer boy!" The bear let out a laugh. "I think I'm just going to jump straight to the chase this time. After all, time isn't on our side."
"Ah, a killing game he says, but it is clear he lied." Nicolas mocked him. "I don't really see anyone here being killer material." Then he took another glance around the room. "Except maybe the doll man, the buff guy, and miss imperial."
"Hey!" Regina placed a hand on her hips. "Please, someone of my stature would never stoop so low."
Frederic tilted his head to the side. "And besides, I save people." He cracked his knuckles. "Although, I wouldn't be too impartial to shutting someone up."
The poet slowly nodded his head. "You made your point, and I'm going to back up." He took a few steps back.
"That's cheating!" Isabelle called out. "You can't just rhyme the same word together!"
Nicolas looked like he was going to say something, but then someone cut in.
"Tell me, what reason do you want us to even attempt a killing game." Oliver spoke up, stroking his chin. "Do you really think the will of some people here is that small?"
The bear let out another laugh. "Oh, trust me. I've seen it countless times before. Of course the will of the people is weak. I have so many bodies that can prove that!"
Jessica shook her head, taking a step forward. "Still, this is absurd. What would killing even do to benefit us?"
The bear slowly tilted his head over to the side. "Oh! Right, forgot all about that intro of mine! See! This is what happens when you throw me through a loop!" He fell down behind the table, and after a few seconds, he jumped back up. "I am Monokuma!" He announced it to everyone in the room.
"Monokuma…?" Jessica mumbled before placing a hand on her hip. "What kind of dumb fucking name is that?"
"Can't you understand the artistic name scheme, you damn brat." Nicolas crossed his arms.
Alright, she had enough of him. "I'm going to rip off your mask." she threatened as she pulled on his hair.
"AHHH! Wait, stop that!" He warned her, not bothering to rhyme.
Oliver took a few steps forward. "And how exactly do you intend to have us kill each other?"
Monokuma let out another laugh. "Didn't I tell you? It's pretty simple. You all have some deep dark emotions hidden within you. All it takes is a little shove, and those emotions will reveal themselves."
Frederic shook his head, walking over to the bear. Well, towered over the bear was much more accurate. "You intend to make us kill each other like savages? I'm afraid I can't allow such a thing."
"Puhhuhu…" The bear covered his mouth. "It's always fun to watch that resolve break."
"Deep dark emotions…" Florence mumbled to himself as he ran his hand through his hair, pulling it up to reveal his hidden eye. "And if that were the case? How do you plan on putting such a dark part of us in the foreground?"
"Is it me, or are we not freaking out about this as much as we should be." Isabelle said with a small giggle. "Oh well! Fine by me!" She pointed towards Monokuma. "You think we can bend that easily!"
Alina looked around worried. "Guys… this is serious." She looked at the explosive expert, who seemed to be taking this as some kind of joke.
Naomi frowned deeply, glaring at Monokuma. She mumbled something under her breath, but it wasn't loud enough to be audible.
Nadeln cackled a bit. "A game like that would be most fun. A prize of escaping on top of that? Do tell me, if we win this game… Will someone be after us? Would we be arrested?"
Monokuma covered his mouth again. "I can't make any promises…" Then, he lifted up his paw. "But you won't regret becoming a killer!"
Adeline shook her head. "Come on! As if any of us would lack the mental capacity and would kill. People aren't as unintelligent as you assume them to be. I'm sure everyone here could rationalize exactly how that's an awful idea."
"That reminds me!" Monokuma yelled out, pulling E-Handbooks. "One of these for everyone." He gave them off to everyone, before sitting back down on the table. "Now, if you could all please take the time to read it, it would be much appreciated.
Lawrence looked around the room before opening the E-Handbooks. There seemed to be various settings, like user profile, map. Of course, the most interesting looking one appeared to be named Rules. He opened them up to see what they were. He was a stickler for rules, after all.
.
Rule #1: Sleeping anywhere in this establishment is fine. Your room, however, is the only place where you can lock with ease. Remember that when you're feeling sleepy.
,
Rule #2: It's hard to know when nightime is, so you can wander around at all times. However, try not to stay up alone as someone may attempt to kill you. Please be considerate of this before making any rash decisions.
.
Rule #3: With absolutely no restrictions, you may explore the area to your heart's content. Leaving the premise is allowed, in fact, it's encouraged!
.
Rule #4: Attacking %$&$% ) Mokuma is strictly prohibited. Doing so will be cause for immediate execution.
.
Rule #5: Anyone who kills a fellow prisoner and becomes "blackened" will graduate, unless they are discovered.
.
Rule #6: Once a murder takes place, a class trial will begin shortly thereafter. Participation is mandatory for all surviving prisoners.
.
Rule #7: If the guilty party is exposed during the class trial, they alone will be executed.
.
Rule #8: If the guilty party is not exposed, they alone will graduate, and all remaining students will be executed. But there's no way it would come to that.
.
Rule #9: Lending your e-Handbook to another student is strictly prohibited.
.
Rule #10: More rules can be added in the future.
.
Wait a second… "It says here we can leave at any point we want." Lawrence pointed out, looking at the bear. "If so, your killing motive holds no ground."
Monokuma was silent for a few seconds before a huge grin appeared on his face. "Yes, while I do say you can leave on your own accord, the question remains, is it worth it?"
"W-what?" He replied, caught off guard.
"Of course it's fucking worth it!" Jessica called out. "It's better than staying here and playing your dumb games."
Regina hummed in thought, biting her thumb. "How awful is the world outside for us to just leave being a bad idea…?"
"What? Who said the world was awful!" Monokuma yelled out. "Well, it may not be in the best state, but it's still the world, don't you know? It couldn't have become that bad."
"I don't know about you, but the world was pretty shit before all of this." Georgie let out a small laugh, before realizing no one else found it funny. "Tough crowd tonight."
Isabelle let out a laugh. "It was funny to me."
"Yeah, but you're laughing at me…" The clown frowned.
"True…" She hummed with a smirk.
"H-huh…" Paige started to speak up. "Are there… stuff we could use to murder…"
"Wow! Already itching to kill, are we?" Monokuma said with a happy tone in his voice.
The seamstress quickly shook her head. "Of course not! I just want to know what to be wary of."
Well, now the bear sounded somewhat disappointed. "Of course, what else would it be…? Well, there may or may not be things you could use here to kill. But for the most part, you need to use your creativity!"
"Bashing someone's head against the walls of this establishment?" Nadeln suggested it casually.
"Of cour-!" Monokuma started to say. "Wait, that's kind of boring."
Kennith hummed in thought. "What kind of motives are we talking about?"
The bear remained silent for a few seconds. "Well, I can't tell you that. It's supposed to be a secret." He jumped off the table, walking away. "Anyways, I'll be heading off now. Please try and kill yourselves!" And with that, he was gone.
Lawrence looked around the room, a heavy air now filling it up. Stay calm… He told himself internally. "Look, I know what we have just been told could be a little heavy, but please… don't freak out…"
Except, no one was freaking out, exactly… Not like he would have assumed.
"Something like this honestly seems quite fun…" Nadeln hummed as he was playing around with a doll. "A game to be won, huh?"
"No, I don't think-" Alina started to say, but she was quickly cut off.
"A game by a madman…" Connor hummed in thought, before smirking to himself. "Sounds interesting to me." He glanced around the room, narrowing his eyes. "Although, this becomes more so a thing for trust, doesn't it? Who can you trust…?"
Lawrence let out a sigh before placing his hand on the mystery man's soldier. "Please don't make the situation worse than it needs to be." He looked around the room again. "We need to do our best effort here."
Jessica let out a small annoyed sigh. "Yeah, but no matter how much we try, the bear's right, isn't he? Some of us will most likely break." Her eyes trailed over towards Nadeln. "Or might get off on it."
Frederic walked over to the center of the room, cracking his neck a little before giving a glare to everyone around. "No one here better be dumb enough to kill. Or else you'll answer to me." He pulled out the rules. "And as much as I don't want to listen to what the bear says, we must be wary of the rules presented before us. We need to follow them or else we face the punishments…"
"Haha! Imagine following the rules!" Isabelle giggled, before taking a step back when the firefighter approached her.
"Hey!" Naomi called out, seeing Frederic make a move towards her. "Let's not to anything stupid, shall we?"
This got the fire fighter to stop moving towards her. "Very well."
"Hey, if you plebs could stop talking." Regina called out, standing beside a door. "I think I found some more places to explore." She pointed to a sign that seemed to show a girl. "I think this might take us to someplace to sleep."
"Right…" Lawrence nodded. "He might have given us some sleeping quarters." He turned towards everyone. "Well guys, let's go see if we can find the one for the guy-"
"Found it." Connor called out, leaning against the wall on the opposite side of Regina. "Right this way, my man."
The lawyer had a small smile on his face before walking over towards it. "Alright, then let's go." He turned towards the guys, who all made their way there. What a weird turn of events… He sighed to himself. What was the last thing he remembered… Hope's Peak. That's what he remembered… Whatever happened to that?
When they entered the new hallway, they were greeted by normal lights.
"Oh thank god…" Florence mumbled out, clutching his head. "I'm not sure if I could have handled more red lights."
"Red light?" Lawrence looked over at him.. "We actually had blue light…"
"Then consider yourself lucky…" Said the lucky student. He walked for a bit before stopping in front of a door. "Well, this is my room it seems." He was right, it had his name tag and everything. "See you whenever…" In the tone he said it in, it seemed like he was hoping that it would be never.
The lawyer let out a small sigh, turning towards everyone else. "You guys aren't going to leave either, are you?"
Oliver shook his head. "I'd actually much rather figure out what's going on. I'd rather stay up and explore some more…"
Frederic shook his head. "We can talk, but I think we should at least stay in a large group."
"Oh please, you can't actually be worried about what the mono dumbass said." Connor laughed a bit. "Sure, some of us might die, but I can guarantee most of us could probably defend ourselves."
"I got beat up most of my life." Georgie honked sadly. "But yeah, as if I'm going to let myself die here!"
The mystery man snapped his fingers, pointing at the clown. "Exactly." He turned to look at Lawrence. "We can try and prevent this all we want, but there's no way to stop it, right?"
No way to stop it…? "That's absurd, of course there's always a way to stop it."
"Hm…" Connor hummed in thought. "When you take care of a case, do you take care of it before it happens, or after the fact?"
"I…" He didn't know how to answer that exactly.
"That's enough." Frederic warned him. "I think we should all get some sleep and stay inside our rooms."
The mystery man lifted his hands up in defense. "Hey, whatever you say, buff guy." He took a step back. "Well, like you said, I'll be heading off, then." And then he turned heels and walked away.
Nadeln let out a small laughter. "Honestly, I'm not worried much. Anyone who attempts to try anything will soon learn how big of a mistake they made. I am not one to be messed with."
Georgie let out a small laughter. "Wow, we got a dramatic Ben over here."
Nicolas had been leaning against the wall for some time, not exactly saying anything. But then, he stood up and looked over at Nadeln. "What are you, some kind of seer?"
Another laugh came out of the voodoo master. "No, I am no seer. But then again, I guess you couldn't say anything without rhyming, now could you?"
Nicolas shook his head. "Now wait a minute, that's not true."
"That rhymed." Nadeln said, not even looking at him.
"Fuck!"
Lawrence shook his head. What a weird group of people he had been left with. "I think the best thing we can do is try and get some rest."
Oliver shook his head a little bit. "No, most of us seemingly woke up from a long nap." He stroked his chin, thinking a bit. "As much as I think it would be best for everyone, I still think we should check the general area." Then, a hand was placed on his shoulder, and he paled slightly when he turned around to see who it was.
Frederic was standing behind him, looking down at him. "This is a lot of information to think about. We should all try and relax and do our best tomorrow."
"Hey, let's not get into a fight-" Lawrence started to say, taking a step forward.
However, the fire fighter had already released his grip. "Lawrence is right though, the best thing is for some rest." And then, he turned around and walked away.
The surgeon looked at the people who were left. "And what do you think?"
Nadeln was poking his finger with a pin before looking at Oliver. "Well, I for one am not going to bed. There's a room of interest I want to check out after all." And with that, he made his way back to the cafeteria.
Kennith let out a long sigh. "God, this whole thing is too much for my head." He hadn't really said anything since they got there. "Sorry for the silence, but I'm stuffed." He waved as he started to leave towards a bedroom.
The lawyer didn't exactly know what that meant, but he could use context clues.
Oliver let out a small sigh. "Guess no one actually wants to go explore." He crossed his arms. "Well, except Nadeln, but he's not someone I really want to go explore with…" He trailed off.
Georgie let out a small laugh, slapping him on the back. "Don't worry buddy! Tomorrow will be a bright new day on this greyish hellhole! We'll have plenty of time!"
"For a clown, your words are filled with nothing but grime." Nicolas placed a hand on his head.
The clown frowned slightly, almost glaring at him. "It's only a joke, man. Don't take it too seriously." He turned around to walk away. "Even I can't pretend this place is sunshine and rainbows." And then he also walked away.
Oliver held his arm, looking at the ground. "Yeah, I think I'm going to head to bed now…" And then he turned around to walk away.
"Can't blame him…" Lawrence sighed before turning his attention towards Nicolas. "You're heading off too, I presume?"
"Eh, it's not like a lawyer to just assume." Nicolas smirked to himself before frowning. "But yeah, you're right." He started to walk away, his hands in his pockets. "Goodnight."
Lawrence just stood in the hallway, alone for a bit. He had been trapped in this place with fifteen other people. Almost all of them ultimates, and the only way out was to kill the others and get away with it. He opened up his E-Handbook to read the rules again. Damn rules. As much as he believed a rule shouldn't be followed if it was unjust, he knew breaking one rule here would probably end with death. Closing it, he started making his way over to a room. He noticed that most of them were marked with names. But they didn't really look nice. They had been scratched into the wall by presumably a knife. "Where the hell are we, even?" He opened the door and went inside.
The room itself was rather nice, although it still had the cold bleak aura that the hallway had. In the center of the room, against the left wall, there was a bed with a single size mattress. On the right side of the room, a mirror with a desk. There was a chair in front of it in case anyone wanted to stare at themselves. In the back left corner, there was a closet, and when Lawrence went to go examine it, he realized that it was just copies of the same clothes he was wearing. "This would get bleak very quickly." He sighed. On the back right side of the room, there was a small bathroom with a shower. But the whole thing was rather small. After he closed the door, he sat down on the bed. Next to the bed, there was a small nightstand with a glass of water. He was rather thirsty, but he wasn't going to trust any of the things Monokuma left them. Then, he lay down in bed and slowly fell asleep.
.
Meanwhile, on the girls side…
Jessica was looking around warily at everyone that was with her. All they had to do was kill to get out of here. Well, they had just met most of these people right. There were no attachments. Sure, most of them wouldn't be able to bring themselves to kill, but someone was going to brea-
"Jessica!" Isabelle called out, seemingly saying her name a few times.
She blinked a few times and looked over at the explosives expert. "Huh?"
"I thought you went braindead." She held her hands behind her back. "Come on, talk to us."
The hacker looked at her, somewhat annoyed. "Who the hell just goes braindead like that?" Then she looked around at everyone else.
Paige held her hands together. "I don't want to be here." She mumbled sadly. "This is an awful place."
Alina nodded her head, biting her thumb. "Who would ever want to do this? Did we wrong someone, and they want to watch us die?"
Regina shook her head, crossing her arms. "I highly doubt it's something like that. The person who's in charge probably just wants to watch people die."
"Not reassuring, but OK." Adeline pointed out, turning around to face everyone. Of course, she started to walk backwards in the process. She adjusted her glasses before continuing to speak. "Besides, they're just some silly rules, right? No one is actually going to murder anyone."
"Do you think that's true?" Jessica had a hand on her hips. "I mean, none of us really know the others. Most of us could just be putting on a mask."
"Please, we aren't poet boy." Naomi pointed out. "But yes, we don't actually know how most people are. Some of the people here… could be way different than they seem."
"Right!" Alina smiled, looking at the nun. "You probably wouldn't kill someone, right? The whole relig-"
She was shot down immediately by what Naomi said. "I'll defend myself if I have to." It was a rather normal sentence, but it was said in a creepy tone. "And I hope you'll all do the same." She turned away and walked off, seemingly not wanting to talk to anyone else.
"Has she got a stick up her ass?" Regina asked, placing a hand on her chest.
"Says the queen." Isabelle tilted her head slightly.
This seemed to have offended her slightly. "H-hey! What does that mean?"
"Oh! Oh!" Adeline perked up as she approached the architect. "What would your opinion on the french revo-"
Jessica let out a rather loud sigh. "This is going nowhere."'
"What do you suppose we do?" Paige asked, looking around at everyone else. "Is there anything we can do?"
Regina frowned slightly. "Obviously not, the rules state we can leave whenever. But the fact that it's encouraged makes me not want to do it."
Adeline hummed in thought, stroking her chin. "It is odd, it encourages us to leave. Does that mean he encourages us to kill, or that there is just an exit in plain sight?" She quickly flipped through the pages of her books. "I wonder if he would clarify rules like that."
Jessica rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Like he would do something like that to help us."
"But if there's a chance…" Alina mumbled. "If there's just a way to simply leave without anyone dying, I'd rather check it out."
"Then, that sounds like something we can do tomorrow." Regina announced, or well, ordered towards everyone. "We can get some sleep, and talk to the guys about potential exploration."
Paige rubbed her wrist. "Actually, I think I'm going to stay up a bit. I'm not exactly tired. Didn't we sleep a lot already?"
"Well I'm tired." The queen announced, slightly frustrated. "And I'd hate to be behind everyone on information. So I'm ordering everyone to sleep."
Adeline adjusted her glasses. "Off with her head?" She suggested it to everyone.
"Let's not." Alina shook her head, although she knew the linguistic expert wasn't serious about it.
"Are you telling me I have to sleep with this much energy in me?" Isabelle called out, placing her hands on her hips.
"Yes."
"Oh, OK." And then miss explosives skipped away to go find a room.
"I don't quite understand that one." Adeline hummed in thought, pressing a pencil against her cheek.
"Yeah, there are a lot of weird people here." Paige noted, humming in thought. "That poet guy, Nadeln, huh…" She trailed off. "Well, some of us girls are weird too."
"Of course that doesn't include me, I presume." Regina placed her hand back on her chest. "I'm the furthest from weird there is."
The seamstress held onto her arm, looking away. "Huh….." Then, her eyes were back to looking at the queen. "Actually, you're one of them. With your whole queen complex."
"Q-queen complex." She sounded somewhat hurt by that. "Please, I won't let your petty insults excuse the fact that I am indeed royalty."
"Alright, what kingdom do you rule over?" Adeline asked with a small tilt of her head.
"Irrelevant!" Regina answered as she made a dramatic exit.
Paige let out a small sigh. "Right…" She turned to look at everyone else. "Well, we seem normal for the most part."
"For the most part?" Jessica asked. "What, are some of us still weird?"
The seamstress shook her head. "No! Nothing like that." She bit her thumb. "Just don't know who to trust, y'know?"
The hacker rolled her eyes. "To be quite honest with you, I don't trust anyone here, so don't take it personally."
"Hey hey, let's try not to get into any sort of verbal argument here." Alina said before clenching her fists joyfully and raising them slightly. "Yeah! Let's get some rest and check the place out tomorrow. Maybe we'll be able to figure out where we're being held."
"I think that's a little too optimistic." Jessica shook her head. "As if we're going to actually find anything in this place. The damn bear doesn't seem that kind."
The maestro frowned slightly, before perking up again. "Yeah, but we won't know until we try!" Then she turned around, walking off. "See you all tomorrow." She waved before leaving.
"Right, I'm not quite ready to go to bed. Maybe I'll see if the cafeteria has any food at this hour." Paige mumbled as she walked off.
The hacker watched her leave before turning to look at Adeline. "I suppose you're heading off to sleep top?"
"Hahaha, sleep is for the weak." She opened up the book she had in hand, flipping through them. "I'm going to read this until I unceremoniously pass out." And then she also left.
Heh. well at least she was being honest. Jessica walked off and eventually happened upon a room that had her name. She placed her hand on the scratched name. "What the hell kind of presentation is this?" She decided to not question it any further, though, and opened the door. She didn't really take a look around, and instead went over to the bed, plopping down right in it. "What the hell…?" She mumbled to herself. What the hell kind of shit did I do to deserve any of this? She closed her eyes to try and search for answers in her path, but she was much more tired than she realized, and simply passed out on top of the blankets.
