Chapter I - The First Day
Today was the third day of classes at UA High, and class 1-A was buzzing with excitement.
"Did you hear the last student is finally arriving today!" asked an enthusiastic pink girl. "Oh yeah, I heard something about her papers being mailed late or something" Replied a bored looking girl with dark hair and earphone jacks extending her earlobes.
Several students were huddled together discussing the arrival of the final student, debating on what her quirk may be. "I bet it's crazy strong if she got in on a recommendation!" added a boy with spiky red hair and a big grin on his face.
"They're really not all that special" a monotone voice replied from the front of the classroom.
Everyone turned quickly in that direction, a gasp emanating through the classroom. 'When did she get here?' They thought while they sweatdropped.
At the front of the classroom stood a petite, blonde haired and blue eyed girl. Her shoulder length hair was pushed back in a headband, allowing the scars on her hair line to be on full display.
"Everyone settle down and get in your seats. Introduce yourself." came the tired voice of the homeroom teacher. "Hi everyone, my name is Sawamura Kimiko," the small girl gave a big smile to the class, "I don't like formalities so please call me Kimiko."
A blond boy with a black lightning bolt in his hair stood up, a serious look on his face and a blush dusting his cheeks "are you… an enchantress?" he asked.
Kimiko couldn't stop the laugh that escaped her lips as she shook her head at his question.
Aizawa was less amused by Kaminari's outburst, "Kaminari, don't ask stupid questions. Kimiko, go sit down."
"Sir yes sir" she said with a smile as she made her way through the seats and plopped down in the back.
"We're training off site today. Grab your costumes if you would like. But keep in mind they may hinder you if you're not used to them." Aizawa sighed before continuing "We're taking a bus in 20 minutes, be ready." and then he walked out of the room.
After Aizawa made his exit, a brunette girl turned around in her seat, big brown eyes and a soft smile,"Hi! I'm Uraraka Ochako!" Kimiko couldn't help but return her smile as she said"I'm excited to be here! Thank you for being so welcoming."
A few more of the girls came over asking general questions and introducing themselves until a boy with a stern face and glasses loudly announced
"Ladies, please make your way to the locker room if we are to be punctual!" All of the girls rolled their eyes at his demand as they made their way towards the door.
"Do you have a costume yet Kimiko?" A girl with an insanely volumized ponytail asked. Turning around to reply, Kimiko's eyes widened at Yoayorozu's hero costume - the lack of material covering her chest causing the tips of her ears to turn pink from embarrassment.
"Er yes I do! Uhm Yoayorozu…, does your costume help your quirk?"
"Yeah but they really didn't need to go this far," she said while covering her face and sighing.
Kimiko could see the embarrassment on Yoayorozu's face and immediately regretted asking, not wanting to embarrass her friend, she quickly added "I like it! It makes you look like a real hero!" looking down at the fabric in her hands, Kimiko said "my costume isn't flashy at all…"
'Maybe I should have put more into it…'
Turning quickly, Kimiko went and changed into her costume, it may not be flashy, but she loved it. The black elastic shorts were a little shorter and tighter than intended, but the thigh high black boots with red flames going up the calves added a pop of color.
The top was simple enough, a black tank top and a pair of red fingerless gloves. The requested belt held an array of throwing knives as well as a small bandage kit - just in case.
'I finally feel like a hero.' Staring into the mirror, she looked at the scars on her face. 'It feels strange showing them off like this, I like it.'
Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself that Aizawa had encouraged her to see the beginning at UA as a fresh start. No more labs, no more hospitals, no more Hitoshi.
Looking at her costume one last time, she walked out to join the others. Sticking close to Uraraka as they waited to load the bus, Uraraka was introduced to a green haired boy named Midoriya Izuku, he was nice.
Once they were on the bus, she could tell Uraraka was torn between sitting with her or Midoriya, wide brown eyes going between the green haired boy and the blonde girl.
"I actually get carsick, so I'll go sit in the front!" She lied smiling at Uraraka, turning around to sit towards the front, 'I think there is still a seat next to the angry looking boy.'
'Thank the gods it's still open!' She thought as her small figure approached the boy. "Do you mind if I sit next to you?" she asked with a light smile, hoping to appear unthreatening.
He turned, a prominent frown on his face as his eyes hardened into a glare. "Who the hell are you?" he asked-or more like demanded.
She froze, blinking at him, had he not been in class when she introduced herself? Whatever. She sighed, 'I don't have the energy to deal with him.'
Keeping the smile firmly in place, she replied with a soft "I'm Kimiko." His scowl deepend, crimson orbs meeting ocean blue as the small girl maintained a smiling face, 'what is he so intense for' she thought, fighting against the urge to roll her eyes.
With a huff he turned his head and looked out the window. Taking that as a yes, she sat down, being sure to keep space between them to not upset him.
"Hey, hey Kimi-chan, what is your quirk?" an energetic voice called from behind her seat. Smiling at the nickname, "oh I was born with a healing quirk! I can't heal myself or anything, but I can heal and take away the pain of others." She replied to Ashido, a chorus of 'ooh's' rang through the bus.
"Wow Kimiko! Healing quirks are really rare!" said Uraraka, Turning her head, Kimiko smiled at her. "Hey, what did you mean when you said you were born with it? That's a weird way to say it." Asked a red head across from me, 'oh crap, what was his name?'
Running her fingers through her hair, she replied with an awkward smile,"yeah I worded it kind of funny." The expectant faces of her classmates encouraged her to continue "but that's because I developed a second quirk two years ago," she added, glancing at Aizawa, he wasn't showing any emotion so she figured she was in the clear.
Before anyone could react, Midoriya shouted "Kimiko-chan, how did you develop a second quirk so late?"
Smiling, the girl in question simply shrugged, clearly uncomfortable with the question, the red haired guy 'Kirishima, that's his name!' changed the topic "That's really cool! My power isn't very flashy, I'm always worried I won't get noticed." He said.
Kimiko met his eyes, giving him a thankful nod of her head, before turning back to face the front of the bus.
"Ah! It's still a cool quirk for a pro Kirishima!" responded Midoriya. Suddenly Tsuyu appeared behind Kirishima and said "Bakugou might be powerful but he is always so angry, he'll never be popular"
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU SAY?! YOU WANNA SAY THAT TO MY FACE, FROG GIRL!"
'Ah, I'm sitting next to Bakugou I assume.'
"See?"
Fighting back the urge to laugh at her response, the dual quirked girl decided it was best to tune everything out.
Can't risk making him even more mad. Bakugou continued to yell and laughter spread throughout the bus.
"We'll be there shortly, so quit getting riled up!" shouted Aizawa irritably from his sleeping bag. Kimiko smirked at him, 'trying to nap as usual' she thought, making eye contact with him.
Leaning back in her seat, she allowed her thoughts to drift as she closed her eyes. Memories of a white room, a man in a lab coat holding a syringe in his hand, eyes gleaming and a large grin adorning his face.
Tugging at the restraints she tried to move. Bracing herself for the pain that was about to come, she tensed, shutting her eyes tightly.
"Now, now Sawamura-chan, if you would just synchronize with this quirk, you wouldn't be in any more pain. Be a good girl for me." He said as he approached, the syringe was getting closer and closer, her body tensed.
Kimiko awoke with a start, eyes flashing open. 'I couldn't have been asleep for more than a minute' she thought. Suppressing a shudder, she leaned forward resting her elbows on her knees, allowing her head to fall forward.
Breathing deeply, she thought about the dream - more of a memory she supposed. 'It felt so real… I'm safe. Aizawa says so.' she reminded herself.
Bakugou looked at the new girl next to him out of the corner of his eye. There was something off about her, he could feel it. The way she jolted awake had startled him, not that he let it show, her face was pale with fear.
'What the hell am I thinking? This is stupid.' he thought shaking his head back and forth. Risking one more glance at the blonde haired girl next to him, crimson eyes met ocean blue, as he startled back.
Pointing a menacing glare at the girl, he felt his eyebrow twitch as she merely blinked back at him before returning to stare at the ground. With a huff, he turned his attention back to the window. 'This new girl is pissing me off.'
Once the bus finally stopped, we all got off and followed Aizawa inside. Kimiko stayed close behind Bakugou, he may be loud and mean, but he doesn't seem like the type to ask questions.
The blonde girl gazed around the training facility. It had a landslide zone, fire, shipwreck and other disasters, she supposed this meant they were doing rescue missions.
She could feel her mind wandering as another teacher and hero, Thirteen, began explaining what they were doing today.
Opting to ignore Thirteen for the time being, Kimiko wandered over to Aizawa, "Is rescue practice making you uncomfortable?" he asked quietly.
She shrugged, "kind of, but it's part of the job isn't it?" she said with a small grin. Aizawa simply lifted a brow at her obvious discomfort and fake smile.
He opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by strange sputtering sounds from the fountain. There was a black mist hanging over the fountain, a hand appearing through it.
Eyes widening, she glanced at Aizawa as he already began pushing her behind him. "Did the training start already?" she could hear Kirishima ask. 'No…no that's not training.' she thought, fear coursing through her veins.
"Thirteen, protect the students! Listen up, this is not training, those are real villains!" Aizawa shouted as he glanced behind him, his eyes locking with bright blue orbs, her mind filled with fear as he turned, running forward to protect them.
"I can't get a signal to reach the school!" Cried Kaminari as the students began huddling together.
"The alarms aren't going off… are they attacking everywhere or just here?" said a red and white haired boy, his tone flat and his face neutral.
Iida, the class representative, shouted above the chaos. "Everyone, take shelter! Leave this to the teachers."
Kimiko wanted to follow the group, but hesitated as she looked back to where Aizawa ran off 'But Aizawa… He's risking his life for us.'
A hand roughly grabbed her forearm as she was dragged along towards the rest of the group. "Stop acting like a damn extra new girl!" shouted an angry Bakugou as he glared down at her.
Fighting the urge to argue back with his insult, the girl yanked her wrist from his grasp, a glare on her face. "Don't touch me again," she said through gritted teeth.
The group began running towards the entrance, following Iida's lead. Kimiko was fighting back a bad feeling in her gut, she wanted to go back and fight with Aizawa.
Head down, she stuck close behind Bakugou and Kirishima. 'I can't believe I said that to him,' shaking her head, 'he was only trying to help me too,' she thought while looking at the angry blonde boy.
She had a bad feeling they may not live long enough for her to apologize as the black mist formed in front of them blocking their path.
"It's nice to meet you," it spoke as the students began backing up, "We are the League of Villains. We've invited ourselves into UA, the breeding ground of heroes, to defeat the Symbol of Peace: All Might! Now, where is he?"
Kimiko frowned at the mention of the name, she noticed Midoriya's hands balling into fists next to her. "Well, it doesn't really matter," the dark figure continued as his mist began to grow, "I'll play my part…"
"Get back!" Thirteen yelled from behind the group of students. She quickly lifted her hand, prepared to attack when Kirishima and Bakugou suddenly leapt towards the villain.
"Like we're just going to let you do that!" Kirishima shouted, grinning proudly as he landed a blow.
For a second, Kimiko thought their attacks worked.
"Oh my, that's dangerous," the figure mocked as he reformed. "It's time for you all to scatter, and meet your deaths."
The mist began to overtake them, Kimiko ran towards Ururaka, their eyes locking as she outstretched her hand, reaching for her, and then Kimiko was devoured by the mist.
POV Shift
Falling, am I falling? Where am I? Aizawa! Where is Aizawa?! I began to panic, I tried to look around, but my head was restrained. I attempted to lift my hands towards my face, hearing the familiar clank of metal from my wrists.
My eyes were frantically looking around, where am I?! "Oh you're awake? Number 97, you need to stay awake for this procedure to work."
Gasping at the voice, I realized I was back in the lab. Mr. Himura approached me with that evil smile. Screaming, I felt the familiar burn of the blood quirk being injected into my veins, my forehead sweating with the exertion.
'I need to stay awake, Aizawa will rescue me.'
"There we go Number 97, your synchronization rates are getting better." I could hear his taunting voice. Electing to ignore it, I focused my eyes on the ceiling, 'focus, Kimiko, Aizawa will save you.'
My eyes began drifting closed, I felt myself falling again. 'I'm getting sick of this feeling' I thought to myself as I kept my eyes tightly closed.
POV Shift
The small girl began to stir as she felt her body moving, cracking an eye open, she was met with a face full of spiky red hair.
"Oh! Kimi-chan, are you awake?" asked a cheerful Kirishima as he tilted his back to smile at her.
"Um… Yes, can you put me down please," she muttered out groggily. "Sure thing!" He responded while bending down slightly so the girl could get off his back.
Once her feet touched the ground, she looked around at the USJ, they were in one of the training sectors clearly.
Glancing at Kirishima, she saw Bakugou behind him, looking as pissed off as usual.
His eyes locking with hers as he began marching towards her, "Fuckin' hell!" he shouted getting closer to her, his face twisted in anger.
"WHY THE HELL DID YOU LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS! HOW WEAK ARE YOU DUMBASS!"
"I don't think we have time for me to even dignify that outburst with a response." The smaller girl deadpanned.
'Agh my head hurts' her hand reaching up to rub her temples as she began walking away from his seething temper.
She could see explosions in the distance, 'Aizawa, please be okay,' she thought, before saying, "I think we should go help Aizawa-sensei."
"Like you'll be of any help! Just stay out of my way," Bakugou said with a sneer.
"Oh thank goodness we have a big strong Bakugou to help us," she couldn't help but mock.
Maintaining eye contact with him, "Kirishima was the one carrying me, guess that would've been too hard for you?"she added with a smirk.
"SHUT THE HELL UP YOU DAMN NEW GIRL" Bakugou screamed as his hands let off little explosions. The small girl simply grinned at his outburst, her hands on her hips.
Before she and Bakugou could continue arguing, Kirishima placed a hand on the girl's shoulder, smiling awkwardly.
Clearly trying to diffuse the tension, he said, "Don't worry about him, I think he's just as stressed as we are," he paused, "by the way, are you okay? You landed on the ground hard and unconscious earlier."
His eyes were filled with concern, calming the girl's annoyance at the blond boy, she gave Kirishima a soft smile, "I'm fine! I got dizzy going through the portal and fainted."
She began walking forward to catch up with an even angrier Bakugou, "Now, let's be heroes and save our classmates!" she added with a grin.
"Holy crap is that All Might!" shouted Kirishima, pointing towards where Aizawa had been fighting.
Kimiko quickly shifted to the left, noticing a small figure running towards the violence. "Midoriya!" She cried out, her feet already moving her towards the scene.
Everything after that was a blur, Bakugou leapt ahead of her, propelling himself with his blasts, "GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY DEKU" Bakugou screamed, landing a solid punch on the purple villain, pinning him down on the ground.
The white and red haired boy appeared out of nowhere, freezing the creature that had All Might pinned, "The symbols of peace will not be defeated by the likes of you."
Kimiko quickly ran to help Midoriya up, "Midoriya, where is Aizawa-sensei?!" she yelled at him, looking around at the damaged battleground. "He's hurt really badly, Mineta and Tsu are taking him to the entrance," he replied as tears pricked his eyes.
Kimiko felt her stomach drop at his words, she turned to glare at the villain with hands all over his body. She was seeing red, how dare he hurt the person rebuilding her? The man who saved her?
"Kurogiri, how could you let this brat get the best of you?" The hand villain said. "You've gotten us into a real jam here…"
Bakugou smirked as he pushed into Kurogiri harder, "You got careless you dumb villain!" he yelled in victory.
"If you try anything funny, I'll blow your ass up so bad that they will be putting you back together for weeks…" he said, a demonic grin etched onto Bakugou's face
Kimiko was still staring down the villain, her rage boiling over as she stepped towards him. Pulling a knife from her belt, she sliced her left hand.
"Kimi-chan what are you-" Kirishima's question was caught off as the blood pooling at the girls feet began shaping into a big blood red sword. "Young Kimiko No!" All Might shouted as she charged at the hand villain.
Red, that's all she could see as she swung the sword at Shigaraki. He was barely able to dodge her constant assaults, jumping back he tried to put some distance between them.
With a scream, she was on him, just missing his head as pieces of his light blue hair fell to the ground. Shigaraki took a step forward, grabbing the sword, his quirk making it crack and disintegrate.
Kimiko dodged the hand coming for her neck as she jumped back, "now now, you were really trying to kill me there," he said. "That's an interesting quirk you have there," he added, tilting his head.
"SHUT UP AND DIE" she shouted, slicing her forearm with another blade, she formed a bow and arrow. "We need to stop her before she gets hurt!" shouted Midoriya, trying to rise to his feet.
"STAY OUT OF THIS!" Kimiko shouted, blue eyes wild with rage, Bakugou's eyes widened at the girl's angry outburst. 'Now this is interesting...' he thought.
Kimiko drew the bow, releasing an onslaught of arrows at the villain, blood dripping down her hands; she knew she couldn't keep this up much longer as Shigaraki continued to dodge.
He charged at her, hand coming towards her throat as she ducked out of the way, her hair flipping to display the back of her neck.
Shigaraki saw a glimpse of the branded 97 on the nape of her neck, a grin stretching across his face.
"Oh I know who you are!" he let out a laugh, " you're one of Hitoshi's lab rats!" Her blue eyes widening at his comment.
Bakugou, still pinning Kurogiri down, exchanged a confused look with Kirishima. 'Lab rat?'
The blonde girl gritted her teeth, as Shigaraki continued "So tell me, was it All Might here that took you away from Himura? Is that why you're so mad?"
Snarling, Kimiko moved to attack when her knees buckled, vision blurring. 'Shit, I've used too much blood' Shigaraki grinned at her, slowly approaching.
Kirishima ran in front of the girl, putting himself between the two. Halting his movements, Shigaraki spoke, "Nomu…" the warp began to move under Bakugou.
The monster broke free of the ice, regenerating its limbs. "How is that thing still moving?!" Midoriya shouted.
"Nomu has been modified to take you on even at one hundred percent of your power- he's basically a highly efficient punching bag that hits back…" Said Shigaraki, a proud grin on his face.
"Everyone stay back!" shouted All Might, bracing himself for an attack.
"We need to free our escape route… Nomu, get him." The monster charged at Bakugou, still pinning down Kurogiri.
Kimiko used the last drop on her wrist to launch a shard of hardened blood at the creature.
The nomu crashed into where Bakugou had been standing, dust flew and no one could see anything. While the dust was settling, Kirishima gathered the small girl in his arms and ran towards Todoroki and Midoriya.
Setting her down gently, he looked around for his friend. "Kacchan!" cried Midoriya. Bakugou appeared on the ground next to Kimiko, surprising the group. "What! That's so awesome you dodged him!" cheered Midoriya.
"Shut up, no I didn't you damn nerd" snapped Bakugou, his gaze drifting to the barely conscious and bloody girl on the ground beside him.
His crimson eyes scanned over her face and body. Her face pale with exhaustion, the cuts on her hand and forearms were deep, and the blood she had been using to fight still leaked from the wounds.
Kimiko lifted her gaze to meet him, he could tell she was struggling to keep them open as a small smile graced her lips. "Glad you're not dead." she said softly.
Bakugou just scoffed and looked away, eyes scanning the battlefield. "How did you get over here?" he heard Kirishima ask, "Isn't it obvious," replied Todoroki.
"All Might!" shouted Midoriya, face scrunched in concern as the pro appeared to be injured.
"These are just kids-and you didn't… hold back?!" All Might winced at the effort to speak. Shigaraki merely shrugged.
"I had no choice, he was threatening my companion. Besides, it's not like these kids are angels- the lab rat tried to kill me." He said looking at the group of students.
Bakugou instinctively moved in front of the blonde girl. 'I'm itching to blow that bastard to bits.' he thought, his hands crackling.
Kimiko opened her eyes to glare at the man, summoning all of her strength, she stood up. Resting her hand between Bakugou's shoulder blades, she could feel him tense at the touch.
Her blue eyes were filled with defiance, as she held the pale villain's gaze. He began scratching his neck, muttering to himself in irritation.
"Besides her, the plain looking one- he tried to kill me with a maxed out punch. What kind of hero does something like that?" He said pointing to Midoriya
"You think you can get away with being as violent as you want if it's for the sake of others… Well you know what All Might? That pisses me off."
A grin spread across his face, "Why do people get to decide that some violent acts are heroic and others are villainous? Casting judgment on what's good or evil…" Shigaraki began smiling.
"You think you're the symbol of peace? You're just another government sponsored instrument of violence," he laughed out.
All Might let out a shuddering breath as he responded, "you're nothing more than a lunatic. Criminals like you try to make your actions noble, but admit it you're only doing this because you like it."
Todoroki stepped towards All Might, a confident look on his face, "we've got them outnumbered" he said.
Midoriya added, "Kacchan figured out the mist guy's weakness." Kimiko gave All Might a bright smile and a bloody thumbs up as she rested her hand on Bakugou's shoulder for support.
Bakugou shrugged her hand off, leaving her stumbling before regaining her footing. She sent a weak glare towards him, 'what a jerk' she thought as Bakugou returned her glare.
"These dudes may act really tough, but we can take them down now with All Might's help. Let's do this." said Kirishima with a grin.
All Might walked towards the students, "don't attack, get out of here," he commanded. Todoroki raised a brow, "You would've been in trouble if it weren't for me, remember? You need our help-" All Might cut him off.
"I thank you for your assistance, but this is different!" Midoriya clenched his fists, "But you're bleeding-you're hurt… and you're almost out of-" he cut himself off, worry clear on his face.
"All Might, please let me stay, I can heal you" added a worried Kimiko, her eyebrows scrunching together.
All Might simply gave them a smile and a thumbs up, reassuring them not to worry. 'He's so cool' they all thought. "Kimiko, go heal Aizawa, he was hurt badly."
The girl's eyes went wide at All Might's words. Turning around, she began sprinting, clumsily towards where Aizawa and the others were.
She didn't even know if the others were following her or if All Might had started fighting yet.
Aizawa, please be okay' she thought as she stumbled up the steps, her legs weak from using her quirk.
"Kimi-chan! You're hurt!" She heard Uraraka call out, concern clear in her voice. "I'm okay, where is Aizawa-sensei?"
Uraraka's face dropped, "he's over here, but he's badly injured," she said pointing towards the man, unconscious on the ground.
Kimiko dropped to the ground, 'you protected us, thank you' she thought, as her eyes filled with tears.
Clearing her throat, she put her bloodied hands on his chest, concentrating all of her energy, a familiar pink glow began.
His wounds started closing, his face once contorted in pain, slowly relaxed. The girl nearly blacked out as she healed his wounds and absorbed his pain.
Biting her lip to keep from screaming, her body was shaking with pain. "Kimi-chan stop! You're hurting yourself!" She could hear Kaminari call out to her, shaking her head, she continued taking his pain as her own.
"Kimi-chan please, your nose is bleeding," said Uraraka, "you've used your quirk too much!" Before she could argue with the girl, Iida burst through the door, followed by the teachers.
"Your class rep has returned! I have fulfilled my duty and I brought reinforcements!" Iida shouted, standing proudly with the heroes alongside him.
It was only then that Kimiko let her hands fall to her sides, allowing her exhaustion to win. She tried to stand, eyes rolling back, legs buckling.
She saw a flash of blonde hair, felt a hand on her waist, and then blacked out.
Bakugou stood there, holding the smaller girl in his arms, he didn't consciously try to catch her.
And now he didn't know what to do with some passed out, bloody girl. 'Damn it, why did I catch her?'
Clicking his tongue in annoyance, he could feel the gaze of his classmates as he walked towards the ambulance.
"Here" he said, placing the girl on an empty stretcher he rubbed the back of his head before turning to walk away.
A hand caught his wrist loosely, he turned his head, crimson eyes meeting tired blue ones. Eyes widening, he snatched his hand back.
"STOP FAINTING ALL THE DAMN TIME YOU WEAKLING" he yelled, but his words held no bite.
"Shut up blondie, you're making my head hurt." she retorted, a pained smile on her face.
Something stirred in his chest at her smile, 'what the hell is wrong with me?' he thought.
Scratching the back of his head, he walked away as the paramedics began tending to her wounds.
